If you’re looking for a second chance property I highly suggest you go somewhere else. They will not work with you. I called and asked a ton of questions because I know my credit is bad. And I had move out charges which I paid in full and I expressed my concern multiple times, because I didn’t want to apply and get denied. And guess what ? We applied and got denied. This is why i specifically asked about everything BEFORE I even wasted my time here. But obviously they did not care. Second chance properties will give you a chance. This property won’t do that. I expected to maybe possibly pay a higher deposit I would have not minded. But nope they don’t. Not to mention how many times I said I had the paid in full letters and that I attached them to my application only to get denied the first time and have to be reevaluated.. that’s so unprofessional. I stated itMultiple times so I had to repeat myself AGAIN. And a waste of money $190 now I have to go find another property who is actually going to work with me. Or who knows maybe I’ll get screwed again just like I did here. Beware!!! Simple I asked to be sure... I got told oh yes we’ll work with you. Bunch of lies. I’m highly upset about it and I just had to express to anyone else who is just looking for something that will work with last mistakes

I’ve been here for 3 months. I have had many issues with appliances and plumbing-maintenance was quick (the 3 stars for them.) Yesterday, my neighbors wheel and tires were stolen off her vehicle. I called front office to let them know my concerns and what can I do for my protection and others. I asked to put a security camera in my patio; the reply was “it’s gets tricky because you can’t record residents.” So that’s a no. I asked about the gate update since it has not closed living here and it has not closed in over two years. “Because of covid, the key Pad, and we don’t have controlsTo give.” You pay for a gated community and you don’t get it. So if you want your wheels and tires stolen don’t live here. I can’t wait to move out.

My time at sunset has by far been the best experience I’ve ever had. Brandi made the move in process pleasant and stress free. All my questions and concerns were met in a timely manner. She has great communication skills and outstanding customer service. 10/10 will recommend.

I’m saddened to leave a bad review, but I wouldnt recommend these apartments for first time renters or anyone at all truly! While living here for 7 months the water has been shut off multiple times, at one point for two days straight. Horribly inconvenient, I had to check if that’s even legal.. Anyways, I’ve never seen the gate on my side of the complex work. Plenty of cars have been broken into in the 7 months I’ve been here, the least I feel they could do is fix the gate, but my neighbors say they haven’t seen it work in over two years so I guess that’s pointless. I also have been told multiple times that changes are supposed to be made to my apartment but it’s been months and after two confirmations from office staff themselves that they had been made, I have come home to see still no changes. When I called and was told for the second time by the manager that the shower head had been replaced that day, I still came home to the same one. I only know the shower head is the same because it still has rust on it.. after calling the staff and speaking to multiple people about my confusion and given the run around, I was asked by Brandi if I was “trying to insinuate anything” after asking why maintenance was unable to access my apartment the first time and what changes were actually being made. Turns out “it was an issue with the deadbolt and they were unable to access my apartment that day”. Even though the deadbolt was another issue we’ve had since the day we’ve moved in, Brandi assertively asked if I’d like her to put in a service order..I mean maybe 7 months ago I would have appreciated that a lot more, but I still tried to remain positive. Any amount of service they are willing to provide I will gladly take considering they never gave it a thought these past 7 months maintenance had been servicing my apartment.. I don’t understand how this time was any different. Either way, I understand a miscommunication once, but twice and being talked to like my questions are not valid?! Come on now..The staff really needs to be on the same page as maintenance. Another issue I’ve faced here is almost being given a lease violation because of more horrible communication between staff. Brandi first helped my boyfriend and I when we moved in and was notified of my dog. After an inspection (done by Brandi herself and another woman) I received a letter on my door stating that I was violating my lease. I called right away to speak to someone about it and again Brandi answered. She checked my lease and my dog was in fact on it.. shouldn’t this have been done prior to trying to give me a lease violation? The whole reason I moved here was because of my dog. This is my very first apartment, but the amount of unprofessionalism I’ve experienced here is ridiculous. Please do not let them give you the run around. Trying to stay positive until the end of my lease like I have been these past 7 months, but I can’t wait to be out of this nightmare of an apartment.

Living here hasnt been all that great. Was given two move in dates and wasnt able to see the apartment till move in day. Supposed to be renovated but we literally have cabinets falling apart. Water always gets shut off randomly stuff has been stolen from our car as well as the laundry facility . People in the office are very passive about your issues. Also havent been able to get mail the whole time because they dont make new keys even if youre willing to pay for one. I was told to go to the post office to get one and they told us they couldnt. Invest elsewhere People.

Super bait and switch pricing. I came in for a 1 bedroom that was priced at $688 and they told me that they could not give me that unit because it’s being renovated but they could give me one that was over $700! Are you kidding me? Why is it even listed on your site as available if I can’t even rent it? Ridiculous

They have all been wonderful and met my every need. I look forward to my time at Sunset Canyon. I am new to Texas and this has been a warm welcome. I appreciate it more than I can say.

I’ve really enjoy my stay at Sunset Canyon. My work orders are taken care of quickly and the office staff is amazing, especially Samantha. She’s super helpful, knowledgeable, and always has a smile on her face she made my the whole process super easy and answered all my questions. i would recommend living here. i’m in love with my apartment and having my own space.

We moved out today after a great 15-month lease. Michelle was our initial leasing agent & was there for us from the beginning to end! She got us in at an amazing rate that could not be beat for the location and size of our apartment! Michelle caught our attention from the beginning with her positive attitude, and when she mentioned how amazing the staff was there including the maintenance staff, she was not wrong!I think I saw one bug during our entire 15 months at sunset canyon. We had no pest issues. It was a quiet community & we never had any real issues. Even our neighbors were so respectful. The one time our garbage disposal stopped working, maintenance was in there the same day and had it fixed. It’s so convenient to be able to pay your rent, utilities, & put in request all online. The location, price, & staff of Sunset Canyon can not be beat!

Whatever you do, do not move here. Constant crime, property management is horrible. The place is falling apart. They dont hold up to the ammentities that they offer. They force you into paying for services not originally agreed upon (valet trash, for example).If youre still for some reason looking at this apartment community, they painted maybe 2-3 months ago. Come look at the quality.Dont do it. Its cheap for a reason, but its over priced for the quality.Editing after response from owner-After filing multiple complaints the staff has claimed we havent heard of this before every time theyre talked to in person or over the phone.They do not care about your opinion.

My husband and I lived at Sunset Canyon from 2013-2019. We originally moved in because it was convenient and they had a place available quickly. We stayed because it was a wonderful place to live.The people in the front office were always helpful and friendly. The maintenance people were prompt, friendly, and competent. Any time we had a problem they helped us out the best they could.If it werent for changing family situation wed be there still. If youre looking for a place to live youve found it.

Do not rent from this place. From the moment we moved in we had to deal with an infestation of pests. Within a month of moving in my ceiling practically melted due to poor ventilation in the bathrooms. It was fixed but eventually mold grew. Then my husband and I had a domestic incident which resulted in the police being called. I provided the front office with the proper paperwork to be released from my lease and was told that that wasn’t sufficient enough. I eventually moved away but my husband decided to not only stay but renew the lease. They told him to leave. But when they called me they told me he decided not to stay. Then charged us with a broken lease.

Great place. I lived there for a year and a half and never had any issues. For it to be an older place, they do a great job at keeping everything taken care of. MAINTENANCE IS AMAZING! I never had to wait more than 12 hours for even major issues to be fixed. I would leave for work and submit a work order before leaving and it would be fixed the same day. Michelle who sits at the front desk to the left is amazing as well! She was always very helpful and never rude. I am in the military and have had bad apartment experiences but this by far was the best one. If I didn’t get pit bulls as animals, and they were allowed, I definitely would have stayed. I would give a 5/5, but I stayed by the pool and the only complaint is the people partying at the pool until 1am and I had to be to work at 4am and couldn’t sleep most nights at the start of the summer.

Ive lived here since 2011, if that tells you something. When I moved in there were some rather immature neighbors that caused some issues, they were quickly dealt with and peace was restored. The staff in the office are always smiling and friendly. The maintenance guys rock big time. I still remember my first night here, the AC wasnt working up to par, next morning I went to the office to get a work order. By the time I had made it back to my apartment they were already working on it. Even recently when it went out, on a Saturday, the on call guy came out quick. Turned out I needed a whole new unit, they set me up with a window unit until the parts arrived. They really busted their rump getting it all installed and made sure it was working. Neighbors are friendly and quiet too.9/3/3018 update. Not to jinx myself, but Ive been here quite sometime and never had any issues with my car being messed with or know of any of my neighbors that had any issues.Theyve recently update the gym with some nice equipment.

The apartments are spacious for the money you pay and the office people have always been great. Maintenance is responsive and does a good job.The neighbors are nice and I dont have to fight for parking. This has made my time here very peaceful.The water bill is on the high side but you will have great water pressure and they use water softeners!Unfortunately the ceiling &walls are paper thin. I can hear everything and my upstairs neighbors wake me up all the time. This place definitely needs a renovation but its a good safe place for people on a budget.The complex had a huge roach problem the almost 2 years Ive been here. They had to do an extermination in my building it got so bad. You pay for pest control up front, but they only come out if you request it. Very frustrating from April-October because the roaches get so bad and you have to keep requesting pest control.If you come here make sure you rent on an upper level.

Cannot recommend this complex to anyone.Have lived here about a year now. There are a few cons: The apartments are horribly insulated so they get very hot and cold, esp in the summer. This place raises rent excessively every year (apparently) so I dont believe they honestly want to keep residents for the long term when they increase rent prices by $30- $50 each lease renewal period. Also they wont hesitate to tow their own residents vehicles, no matter what the circumstances are. This has never happened at any other place Ive ever lived at so I would assume they get good kick back incentives every time they tow. Not a cool thing to do to your own residents who pay their rent on time each month. They also have a bogus over priced pest control fee of $45 for all tenants sometime during the year that they tack on. This is way out of line for a quick interior spray, so they are clearly making a huge profit on this for something that should already basically be included in the monthly additional miscellaneous fees of $30 a month. Also, there are very few washers/ dryers for the 460+ units. I believe there are only 10 total washers for the entire property.The property is also lacking a hot tub/ jacuzzi a well, which I think should be an additional amenity for the price standards of this place. Although the property does have a gym room, the equipment is a bit out dated.Hope the management will continue to try and make this property the best it can be for its residents. Cannot recommend this complex to anyone. They did unethical things to good people and never once tried to make it right for the customer.

This place is ridiculous. Don’t believe anything the people in office tell you. Once you get in it’s horrible. Roaches everywhere. Break in cars is ridiculous. The water is always off or having a problem constantly. They charge over 80$ for water and added fees. I can’t wait to move out of this place.

Ive been in this apartment for a few months now. And I love it. The office staff are friendly and responsive. Theyre as accommodating as they can be, within guidelines of course. The neighbors are all very friendly.While the apartments are older, they are well maintained. They do a pretty good job of keeping their doggy stations full of doggy bags and the stations are everywhere so theres really no reason not to pick up after your dog.My only cons with the apartment itself: the A/C units suck. My electric bill is ridiculous and summer hasnt even really started. I keep my a/c at about 78 degrees from about 7am-630pm. My apartment is only 700 sq ft and my electric bill is as much as my moms (in another complex) and she has 2 floors and 300 sq feet more AND they keep their AC lower with two other people living there. Makes no sense. I have an HE washer and dryer and everything is turned off while Im gone.On the weekends, the apartment is kept at about 75-76 while Im home.Also a lot of people dont pick up after their dogs, but that has nothing to do with the apartment complex itself.

I took a great tour, but the leasing agent didnt follow up like she said she would. I even emailed her to address on the card given to me with a few more questions I still had about availability of the apartment I was interested in and the deposit program they have because I still didnt understand the difference between the options. I never received a response. I chose to live at another property instead.

This place is horrible! They hiked my 75 yr old Mother’s rent up so high that she is forced to move. For older folks on a fixed income, they completely don’t care! She lived here 4 years and live in less than 650 sq ft and they want $895 rent payment? They should be reported for elder abuse.

Just moved in over a month back and can tell you this is one the best apartment complexes that I have lived in. For the rate they charge here I recommend this complex to everyone. Will mention though there is quite a bit of paper work office requires in order for you to start a lease here, but once you move into this community I promise you wont regret it

Update 1.6.2020: full deposit was refunded after some clarification and proof that damage was existing at my move in. They state it could take up to 30 days to get your deposit refund, but in my case the check wasnt cut until 43 days after move-out and it was another 13 days after that when it was mailed. So I didnt actually get it back until closer to 60 days.Update 8.30.2019: in case there was any question as to the sincerity of managements response, or truthfulness of my below statements: Clear Property Managements action to back up their below reply was to terminate my lease. I will update once again upon move out with one more report on their ability to maintain professionalism through move out; though at this point I am not hopeful.Update: thank you for the quick reply, though I have a hard time believing the statements made below. It would seem that, if you truly cared, your actions would be evidence as opposed to the cookie cutter we really do care replies to the numerous complaints...Overall, conveniently located, and the apartment is ok and the grounds are nice. This is an ok place to be if you dont mind dealing with the management. If not for the current management I would rate 3 stars. I hope the owners dont mind constantly losing good paying leasers due to Clear Property Management. Two years ago when I moved in the lady I dealt with was extremely cordial and helpful and I would probably stick around if she was running the place; however, she unfortunately disappeared shortly after the current regime showed up. The locks on the walk through gates have been broken for ages now; the pests are treated reactively instead of proactively; the drive through gate for my entrance is perpetually in a state of disrepair (even though you pay extra for being in a gated community), and when working the keypad shocks everyone trying to use it -painfully- (and they refuse to upgrade to a wireless system for it even though that would likely resolve most of the accidents that frequently damage it from people trying to get in the out side not wanting to get shocked, and they wont provide a wireless key to the other entrances for you if you are in any of the central buildings); I personally reported my dishwasher leaking like a sieve to the front office over a year ago and its still not fixed (though I havent made a deal about it because the thing is so antiquated that I would still have to hand wash despite its functionality); the current management has taken it upon themselves to try to parent my children in front of me, and most recently threatened to revoke my pool privileges because my son was looking over the fence into the pool equipment area, not going in, looking... heaven forbid a 13yo be curious (mind you, the pools are frequented by people that are not even residents, and not once have they ever said anything about that). The non-direct communication from the management is very poor, frequently relying on notes left on the doors of residence to blow away in the wind, and most recently I had to go extremely out of my way to pay my rent on time when their online payment system went down and they didnt advise me of it (and when the front office was informed of their poor communication around the issue, instead of an apology, I received a threat that they can force me to pay rent however they want to according to my lease) this was nearly the first time ever for me to be late on rent and I had to take time off work to accommodate them and prevent late payment. Also as others have mentioned, the rates are perpetually and variably raised. I may have to fight extra hard now upon move out to retain my deposit (because punishment seems to be the current managements fetish) but I felt it prudent that you be aware before renting. Im not saying to not rent here, just be aware before you make a decision.Also, my car has been broken into twice (presuming kids because nothing of value was taken), and parking can be horribly over crowded.

Lived here for a little over a year and so far these are the best apartments I have lived in ! Very quiet and friendly neighbors and also maintenance is very fast with all their work .the only flaw is that neighbors come in super fast even though there are speed bumps . Sometimes its hard to take my kids outside to play because not once but twice we have almost been hit because a car swerves the curves speeding! So maybe there can be mph signs put up to enforce the speed limit or something . Also I have seen lately a lot of dog poop and cat poop out. Just as a courtesy remember to pick up after yourselfs. Other than that these apartments have been smooth sailing . No major problems that have not been handled .

Ive been here for over a year. The office staff are very friendly and the pool is amazing though no smoking rules are not enforced. It says gated community, but the gate is almost always broken and once it went for nearly 2 months before being fixed. Subsequently, my car has been broken into twice. The other renters leave animal droppings all over the grassy areas, and multiple times Ive seen where they let their dogs go outside unleashed and owners watch from their balcony. There are a ton of ants outside and on the buildings, and my balcony was full of wasps that I couldnt rid of. I didnt receive too many surprise visits from maintenance, but I would have aprreciated it had they notified me beforehand so I could have at least neatened up the place.

This place seems nice on the outside, but once you get trapped in a lease you realize what a polished turd sunset canyon is, definitely happy I didnt sign a lease here

Absolutely Amazing! I have never lived in a place that was not only quiet but respectful. My dad visited me for a weekend and accidentally left his passenger window on his truck open for several hours and no issues at all. All of my neighbors are incredibly friendly! And the staff is awesome and willing to help for anything. Maintenance is outstanding they have come on the weekends for me. My Dishwasher started to leak and they just ended up replacing the whole unit with a brand new one! I cant talk enough about my amazing experience here at Sunset Canyon Apartments!!!

UPDATE TO THE BELOW: Changed rating to just 2 stars as my upstairs neighbors have gotten worse. The noise is unbelievable. I have found another complex to move to and will break my lease with this complex. Im entitled to live in a quiet and peaceful environment and this is not it!! DONT MOVE HERE!!!! If management wants to blame the noise on the fact that the complex is old and the floors are thin, then the complex needs to be renovated/upgraded.

A family member of mine paid $200 app. fees to get an apt. He was later informed he was denied due to a criminal background check, and he does not have a criminal record. They then said his $ was non-refundable. He asked to see a written report of the findings. They only gave him a # to call. After 1 1/2 hours on the phone on Hold, he went back to the place and demanded to see this so-called report. He also said his $200 was paid for THEM to provide info, not to just give him a # to call.They said they could not provide written evidence. He demanded his $ back and they only gave a partial refund. And WHY? They screwed up.This is a business that operates unethically and illegally by weeding out potential tenants with no real evidence. Its hard enough to find a place to live with trustworthy neighbors, let alone landlords. Id give ZERO stars if it let me. BTW: He left there and got another apartment close by with no problem!

I will be finishing my nearly five year stay as a resident at Sunset Canyon Apartments at the end of this month and I can say that I do not have any complaints and never really had a bad experience that stands out. I have lived in quite a few apartment complexes over the years, some good ones, and some not so great ones.Any where you can rent an apartment you can also find rude and inconsiderate neighbors, maintenance and repairs conducted at a time that conflicts with your schedule, a grumpy Postal Carrier, outages onmunicipally managed and provided services...etc.If you are realistic about inconvenience and understand that things just sometimes happen in life then I would most certainly recommend Sunset Canyon Apartments to you. They are in a great location, one of the best school districts in the county, with a fairly low crime rate, competitively priced rates, along with amenities like: 2 pools, a mini doggy park, a workout facility, internet cafe and a full sized sand volley ball court make it pretty universal and a good fit for just about anyone.. In my opinion the community here is family friendly and there is a large pet population.I have seen a few of the Office Staff members come and go in 5 years but none have ever been rude to me or unwilling to hear me out when we disagreed about some thing. For the most part they have been fairly willing to work with me. There is not one issue with the property that has influenced my decision to leave but simply just moving on in life to the next adventure.

DO NOT MOVE HERE ! I have had the worst moving experience of my life with the Sunset Canyon Apartments in San Antonio, TX. My move-in date was scheduled for today at 12, I have been driving to the apartment complex every weekend for the last month (I live an hour away) to make sure that all my paperwork was good, I tried to see the apartment I was moving into on multiple occasions but kept getting told it was not ready (supposedly getting maintenance done). I had previous issues with applying for the apartment for a specific rate and than getting told my rate went up with no explanation. I had emailed the corporate office for a response but they just forwarded my email back to the staff that did not help me originally but regardless I decided to give the apartment a try. I take off of work early yesterday to sign my paperwork after a week of setting up the electricity, renters insurance, changing my sons school and setting up the uhaul. I finally get to see the apartment and as soon as I walk in it smells horrible of smoke, the carpets are filthy and falling apart, we go to the guest bathroom and the bathtub is disgusting and peeling off with rust. I wait for the manager to come back from lunch so we can get me a new apartment and she tells me there is no other one and all they can do is get someone to clean the carpet, she had no sympathy at all that I literally went thru a month of waiting and work to see an apartment that was disgusting. She tells me they were short staff so didn’t have time to walk the apartment before. This has been the worst experience of my life, the apartment complex team had no sense of urgency, never followed up with me and didn’t even care to walk the apartment I was going to move in to the next day. I am now left trying to find a new apartment in one day notice.

The place is lovely and the front desk people are actually very nice. However, key information should have been provided at the first showing. Weve been dealing with thos place, going there several times for a couple of weeks. We had the deposit and application fees picked in cashier check form, application filled out and everything was a go. Until the very end when I had to ask if they wanted our pay stubs. She said yes, took out a calculator and said each person has to make 3 times the rent. If not, wed need a cosigner to make FOUR times the rent plus give us 4 of their paystubs. If we had known this information when we first went in, we would not have gone through a couple of weeks of nonsense. Starters I get religiously persecuted and told to just ignore it or thats what you get for being diffrent. Than water payment crazy night for someone who never uses water and then I have faults accusations placed on me and and harrassed by employees water cut off all the time for maintenance and then bug infestation they blame on you when I have OCD and dont get me started on how often my car is vandalized worst place I have lived.

Dont waste your time!Ive lived here only 3 Months and i cannot wait to get out. They tell you really good deals especially for this location and once you get in. ugh the walls are super paper thin, you can hear everything. The people upstairs you can hear them running from one side of the apt to the other. The insides are terribly old ALL light fixtures are in need of a super upgrade.WATER.i was told water wouldnt be any higher than 50$ by Savanna or Samantha whatever her name is. This month my bill was 73$ for WATER! The Front management said it goes by how many ppl live in the apt. Um Me & 2 Children BOTH under the age of 8. God sake my children arent swimming in running water. Maybe they would save water by turning off the swimming pools in this kind of weather. Ridiculous.CARS.The parking is just plain Ridiculous. You have to park a mile away at times because it gets that packed!NOT to mention My car has been broken into TWICE!Gated apts for what.LAUNDRY ROOMS.Only a couple of laundry rooms in the whole complex.And only 2 each in there!Meaning 2 Washers and only 2 dryers thats it. This I hate.Pest Control. (The main reason here)I like how in the beginning they make you pay a Fee of 75$ for pest control. OH and a monthly payment as well ! Okay No biggy.Yet They decided they want to notify everyone only 4 DAYS before they come out. Mind you this is Jan 2! right after the big holidays they decide to do this????? People are out of town & Busy! They Also Stated that if not able to allow pest control to enter there will be a 25$ FEE for making them come back out again! Um isnt this why i paid a 75$ pest control fee??? and yall charge all of us a regular monthly fee as well!! Crazy!I cannot wait to get out of here.Only good thing about these apts is they have vending machines.Dont waste your time doing applications, and the crazy fees they have!!!
