I was 5 months pregnant when I met with David and talked to him about signing up. I let him know that I was expecting and if there would be any issues with me coming in after having my child in stroller and was told there would be no issue. Had it been told that there was I wouldn’t have signed up. And I know it could be a safety hazard which is why I asked before signing up. She’s too young to be in the child care also. When I brought it up they said “we would never say it’s ok to workout with a stroller”Now to cancel I have to pay a cancellation fee of $200?

My son And I started this AWESOME gym last week and I have to say that the people are so cool. They are good about getting you set up on a routine. I would recommend the highest level of membership because of all the perks you receive. Spiritually and physically there is no place like it in San Angelo. Thank you Tru Fit for everything. Elliott and Bryan are the two trainers we have used so far and they are awesome. They really care, not just about you as a person but your physical well-being as well. Thanks guys

I cancelled my membership in person in April, was told that I would still be charged for April due to the billing cycle already being started. I was again charged in May, June, and now again in July. I called each month and was told it would be taken care of and would not be charged. Three months later I’m still being charged. I was treated rudely and poorly by the operations manager, Porschea Vann. She yelled, screamed, spoke down to me, then hung up on me.

Great gym, love the group classes, but DO NOT EVER sign up for personal training at this place. They pressure you into signing up more than car salesmen! They act like theyve told you everything on the contract but havent. Once you are signed up, they never give you a straight answer about how to cancel! They take every last penny they can without a care in the world about the person behind the contract! They raise the amount any time they want without notifing the contracted... I told them I wanted to cancel they said Id have to wait till my contract expired. Once my contract expired, they automatically re-enroll you even though youve notified them that you wanted to cancel. You call the corporate office and tell them you want to cancel after getting billed again, they say well its probably the previous month that youre getting billed for. You get billed again and then they inform you of the 30 day cancellation notice. You get billed again and then they inform you that they need the notice in writing. You dispute the charges with your bank and win. Think everything is over, 6 months later without any written mailed or emailed or phone call stating that you have a balance and your membership is still active, THEY SEND YOU TO COLLECTIONS!!! You get a copy of that wretched contract and read that a written mailed statement to cancel is NOT ENOUGH like they said it would be, NO THEY WANT A CERTIFIED LETTER!!! UBF PERSONAL TRAINING is the most unethical and not fraudulent company I have ever dealt with!! STAY AWAY!!! Here is a response from the OWNER about how to cancel and not succeed!! He states all you need is a letter mailed to them, but even HE gave you WRONG INFORMATION because you need a freaking CERTIFIED letter, if not, they will throw your letter away and act like they never got it! Sorry Jared Grey from a previous review, you got the wrong information yet again!

I had to relocate for work, and was told there wouldn’t be any termination of contract fee, because there was no other gym where I was going to be living at. I couldn’t get a hold of the manager for two days. I was told I was going to get a call back, never did. Sent them two emails of my proof, where I canceled the membership. Never emailed me back. Was left in the system to be charged and they told me there was now a fee. When in reality they just didn’t cancel my membership there and then and forgot about it. So I had gotten charged $32 for another month, that I won’t be using because I moved. Poor staff.

The gym environment is great but everything else is terrible!!! Started personal training here in July on a 6 month contract for $75 bi-weekly for 1 session a week, received about only 5-6 sessions from two different trainers, Adrian and then Chase. Have been getting charged still to this day, 8 months later. Have spent over $1500 in personal training that I have not been receiving. Wouldn’t recommend the personal training to anyone. Very poor communication with trainers and management!

This is one of the biggest gym facilities Ive been a member of, and the selection of equipment ranging from free weights to machines are excellent. Some machines and weight plates could use a touch up but otherwise this is a great gym. In regard to lifting, my personal trainer Lance helped me get the edge on lifting as he was both knowledgeable and passionate about the whole process to reach my individual goals. And lastly, the Combo6 and TruPower classes are absolutely killer workouts yet the best part of my day, theres not a second that I do not enjoy going to those.

When we went and toured the workers never presented the option of the $10 membership only the middle tier. Considering I came from Planet Fitness I would have obviously picked this option if I had known about it. When I tried to contact the manager to resolve this, David specifically, he was completely unhelpful. He interrupted me so many times and when i stated my concern his response was that he always tells people about the cheapest plan. He then concluded to tell me to just cancel my membership if I felt deceived and that he didn’t want unhappy people at his gym. :) Thanks David! Also they will spam you with phone calls and are worse than used car salesmen.

It’s a shame I had to cancel my membership. it’s too Crowded so even though they have a lot of equipment most of it’s taken out anyway. The people that work there are a bunch of kids. And you can tell the manager is in over his head. I know anybody else that goes to Trufart and likes to use the cables towards the back by that Fairly big aerobics room Hates having to listen to this ear shattering bass coming from out of that room. I have been going to Trufit since March of last year and it was Brian (great job Brian) that sold me on signing up for personal training and is one of the best decisions of my life. My trainer (Ryan Chadwick) is absolutely amazing. He pushes the right amount, gives praise when its due, and just all around goes above and beyond for his clients. I have had my up and downs while trying to achieve my goals and some days it does show, but it never went unnoticed by Ryan and he would ask me if I was okay on those days. At this point while he is still my trainer I actually consider him a friend as well now. Personal training is important especially for beginners like myself. Its strange how the slightest angle or change in posture can change a workout and the effectiveness of it. Ryan has been a great teacher in this aspect as well. All around im better prepared not to mention the significant difference in how I feel and look now is very much because of the person he is. The gym is massive which is great during this time of covid it allows for social distancing and I see the staff walking around at times wiping off the equipment as well.

Do NOT sign a contract with this gym unless you can afford an attorney to get you out of it. This gym illegally refused to honor a contract they have with my employer offering free memberships to employees. They have told me multiple times they are “unsure of the contract stipulations” after they discussed them with my GM and told my employer they would honor the contract, and continued to charge me money for my membership after the fact. They refuse to cancel my membership until I pay the money that I never should have been charged in the first place. I’ve given them plenty of time to figure out what their contract agreement is and make this right, and they have continued to give me the run-around. While I’m sure my situation is unique, and it’s unlikely you will find yourself with this exact problem, I’m putting this out there because if this company was willing to lie and steal from me, it’s possible they have no problem doing it to other people. I will be consulting with my attorney on this issue, but at the moment I just want to give everyone a warning that this gym does not practice integrity in upholding their contractual agreements, and has no problem stealing from hardworking citizens.

The childcare staff was amazing, and my kids had a blast. After I finished my workout I decided I wanted to find out the details on pricing. Sue was extremely helpful with explaining everything to me. I then asked if I could speak to a manager to inquire about military discounts and details on the promotions. And then..............................................................................I met Harry, from Corporate. And it ALL went down hill! I honestly have never met someone who was as condescending and degrading as him. He was very rude, and should NOT be the one in charge to turn the place around. It was previously Heros Fitness, Tru Fit purchased the gym just recently. If Tru Fit trusts this guy to be in charge of training the employees on Tru Fits goals and future, this place is doomed. I really liked the gym and wanted to join but I cant get over the way Harry treated me for simply inquiring more about the gym and pricing. I will make sure to let everyone else I know; friends, family, military and my clients about how terrible this new company is, or more specifically Harry. I would advise to find a different gym than this one.

Everything was going good and did a small work out with a trainer. I mean come on really how come these big corporate gyms always have to charge so much to work out in their gym. After declining to pay for a trainer I walk of that gym pretty disappointed and frustrated because i couldn’t just go in and workout I have to be up saled to spend more money in a gym that is okay. So I went in and canceled my membership today and will not be back in their again. DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HEREI had a year long membership with Heroes and on average used the gym at least 3x a week. I would give this gym a 2 star rating due to multiple leaks in the ceilings every time it rained, several pieces of equipment that were of bad quality, equipment replacement that took at least a month (I stopped going after a month and a simple kettlebell wasnt replaced among other equipment), poor entry supervision, poor sanitary conditions, no towels for member use, etc. However, I have to give a one star due to the fact that the agreement you have to sign allows heros to continually bill you for a month-to-month membership after your yearly membership runs out. Although this is expressly stated, there is typically a 30-day cancellation process and there are absolutely no refunds. From this information it is pretty clear that Heroes tries to squeeze every penny possible out of their members, and God knows they arent spending that money to make the gym nicer in any way.To help others looking for a good quality gym, please rate this review as helpful so others can see it.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Eager to work out I paid for the full year at Heroes Fitness and started going daily and even got plenty of friends to join. I now regret joining and recommending this gym. My membership was revoked due to accidentally colliding a flipping/rolling tire with a wall. When addressed, instead of letting me pay the damages of the wall (which were minimal) I was asked to leave and never return. All the money I had spent on the year went down the drain. Now that I am denied the membership I paid for and all chances of ever returning I no longer feel obligated to withhold the knowledge of the terrible quality of this gym. It really sucks to see all that money leave your account only to witness countless people sneaking in because the staff isnt attentive or when they are, friends of the staff are still let in for free. For all you freeloaders, if you show up late enough to Heroes not a single damn person will stop you from entering and taking advantage of the place. Now that really didnt bother me too much but I plan on leaving no stone unturned in this review. In a nutshell, Heroes is probably the most unsanitary low budget gym in San Angelo. The trash cans in the locker room/restroom area were always overflown. I made sure to use the restroom before I arrived because the toilets were often clogged with residue of crap still on the seat for some reason. On rainy days sometimes there were no trash cans in the restrooms at all because they were being used to catch water dripping from the ceiling all over the facility. It stinks a lot of the time and on multiple occasions the floor has been sticky. Its encouraged to clean your machine/station once youve finished with it. They even have spray bottles and paper towel dispensers around the gym to do so. But just as anyone else can conclude, Heroes doesnt take sanitation seriously and fails to even put paper towels in the dispenser. I will say a lot of the equipment was decent if it still had a seat, padding, or grip. The indoor track is just the path in between the weights and machines. They put tape on the ground to simulate a track but it just looks ridiculous. Large free weight selection if the weights were actually in the correct spot and not scattered around the entire gym. But hey, if you can find them you might be able to get a workout in. It was sad to leave Heroes because I was used to the routine of it all, but Im happy to take my business elsewhere. They lost a loyal customer just like Im sure they lose plenty every year. Please explore your options before attending this gym.

I have really enjoyed the body pump, especially with Mary- she ROCKS! HOWEVER, I am contemplating leaving because of the child care. The staff in the childcare room are fine, but the layout is not safe for my 16 month old. Shes come home with a bruise on her face previously. Yesterday I approached the female manager about my concerns and asked why the toddlers cant have a partition of sorts to separate, because as it is right now, my baby can be trampled by a bigger kid, and theres no way to keep a good eye on her. The manager blew me off and said theyre not registered and basically had a non-caring attitude. SURE ENOUGH- I then picked up my daughter, who has a huge red mark on the side of her face- I showed the manager on my way out and she shrugged her shoulders...so uncaring, so disappointing, as I ve gone consistently 3-4 times a week since March 1st.

Just got off the phone with this gym. I had to move to abilene due to work and prior to leaving san angelo tried to cancel this membership was told that we would have to pay one month more since they could not cancel the pending payment today they call saying oops made a mistake now you have to send a certified letter along with a 60 dollar cancellation fee. They cant do a credit of the pending payment nor a refund so total cost to cancel membership is 83.16 thanks for nothing heroes fitness. Beware so this wont happen to you.

I was thinking of becoming a member of this gym for awhile. I came in for a trial period and couldnt remember when it ended. Apparently the contract ended the day before, because the guy who signed me up came looking for me. He was really rude to me and even TEXTED me after I left! After arguing with me via text I decided to end the conversation. He was very rude to me and I will never go back or even consider a membership to Golds Gym again.

If I hadnt already sign a contract I would change gyms. Equipment is always down, child care has weird hours and the employees dont care or dont want to put out the effort to answer your questions. Stay away.

I went in the middle of June and told the customer service person that I thought I was pregnant and I wasn’t it was a very bad Illness and wanted to freeze my account well the guy fails to tell me that I had to pay to freeze my account up front so I spoke with members of management to be informed that they fired the guy that had frozen my account and that I’m liable for the delinquent bill because I was misinformed by a member of there customer service the manager I spoke with was rude and refused to even help me to clear up the matter
