It had been a few years since my last dentist visit and I had come here after hearing great things about the experience. I went in for a cleaning, and a checkup shortly after. Everyone I interacted with had such a great demeanor and professional attitude. Chris was really nice and fun to chat with, he did such a great job with the cleaning. Juliet took great care of me as well. Dr. Thorup is very knowledgeable and helped a great deal with answering any questions I had. I would highly recommend coming to this office for those seeking a dentist!

I paid my balance as always when my appointment was completed sometime in early 2020. Apparently my insurance paid less than expected, and I had a balance on my account. Rather than contact me through a barrage of phone calls and text messages like they do when they want to confirm an appointment, I was never once called or was sent a bill to let me know there was a balance on my account. The first and only time I knew anything about it was when I checked my credit report and noticed a mysterious collection attempt. The Sugar House Dentist could easily have fixed this mistake, but of course they said theyd called me several times and sent several statements in the mail ... which of course was a lie. No mail, no phone calls, no voicemail, no 30 text messages. Just a horrible, shady experience with folks in the billing department not competently doing their jobs and then lying to cover their tracks. Im sure the practice manager or owner will respond and say they called me several times, but my phone records would indicate otherwise. I would avoid this practice entirely unless you like to be lied to by your dental care provider.

I can hardly express enough gratitude to this office. My daughter had tripped at school and hit her face so hard that it knocked one permanent tooth out and completely shifted another. I contacted Sugarhouse Dentist, and they immediately prepped a room for her in minutes and were ready for her the second we arrived. Brittany S. even came in immediately on her day off to assist.My daughter went straight back and they were able to save her tooth and place it back in and wired it to her other teeth. Now today (a Saturday evening), that wiring came a little loose. Both the dentist and Brittany S. came in yet again, on a day the dentist office is normally closed just to fix it. This is the first emergency and painful experience my child has experienced, and it was made so much easier on her by having a team that is so willing to drop their off-day plans to give their clients the best care possible.

Amazing dentist. If you have any anxiety about the dentist, come to this place! Dr. Theurer and Thorup are amazing. They do quality work, they show they care, they use new technology, they work with you. The one hygienist I have seen there is the best hygienist I have ever had. Sometimes at my past office, they are so rough and I dislike the experience, but here it’s always fantastic.

This dental office is by far my favorite I’ve ever been too. Dr Thorup is gentle with everything and keeps you in the know. Him and his team always make sure that Im comfortable and they always have my best interest in mind. Totally recommend!

Throughout my life I have hated going to the dentist but this change once I started going to Dr. Thorup at The Sugar House Dentist. During my visit, Dr. Thorup took the time to explain what he was doing and why he was doing it. I felt extremely informed about my teeth! The Sugarhouse Dentist (Dr Craig Theurer) offered to provide dental care to my two children after they visited another crosstown dentist. We got dental records to Dr Theurer and at no point did he mention that there would be an initial consultation to see both children prior to him performing dentistry on their cavities.We were contacted the day of the visit asking us to reschedule. We could not.My wife and I were shocked, after taking the kids into the dentist, to discover that the visit was not to address the cavities, but instead for him to simply examine their teeth and then close up shop for the day.We were then billed $74 for this additional visit (after insurance). During the consultation, Dr Theurer indicated that he couldnt even do the work on my 5-year-old son because he doesnt do work on children that age, referring us to another dentist specializing in pediatric dentistry (now our third!).We were already wary of the office with my wife and I both experiencing issues with them making mistakes around booking our appointments (My wife had a different charge rescinded) after issues with their communication and billing.Do not support The Sugarhouse Dentist, they are unprofessional and clearly out to gouge you at any opportunity.

This office is the best office around! The staff are all friendly and very professional. They all explain what is going on and do an excellent job. Dr. Theurer, Thorup and Bowen are amazing come to this practice!

This place deserves 10 stars. They were able to squeeze me in for a chipped tooth literally at the last second before I had to get pictures taken for work. I would die for this office. I would also be as bold to say that Dr. Jared Theurer is best dentist in the world.

Ok, so I have had a lifetime of bad dental service. But Dr. Theurer, pronounced (Tire) is truly an amazing Dentist and human being. He and his staff listen! No judgements from him! I was super nervous to go see a dentist, mostly out of embarrassment from broken crowns but He has worked wonders in my mouth and overall my well-being! Dr. Thorup is a great dentist! He is always putting the patient first and is so kind and gentle. He takes the time to call and check in on you after your procedure and he genuinely cares about the welfare of his patients. His assistant Juliet is so kind and friendly and definitely makes the experience at the dentist more enjoyable. His hygienist Christopher is so great and friendly and my teeth always feel so clean after my hygiene appointments. You won’t find a better dentist or office!

I visited Dr Theurer for the first time today. My family and I had been going to his father (Craig Theurer) for many years. Craig retired and we had heard good things about Jared and his practice. I must say I was/am totally happy and very excited to find that Jared Theurer has his fathers personality and caring attitude when dealing with his patients. I will most certainly be calling him my family dentist and will recommend him to everyone I know.His staff was great! Friendly, careful and very courteous. They took time to explain everything they were doing and answer all my questions without judgement.First time in years that I have actually looked forward to seeing MY dentist.

This place is full of dental All Stars! Our family has recruited people to this dental office for so many reasons! Dr. Theurer and Dr. Thorup are incredible dentists that explain everything clearly and put any worries or anxiety you might have to rest. The dental assistants are so welcoming and professional. They’re excellent at what they do. I recently had Tiffany do my six month check-up and cleaning and she did an amazing job and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I didn’t feel a thing! These guys are fantastic. I haven’t taken good care of my dental hygiene and had a bit of an emergency with a tooth causing some serious pain. They got me in right away, gave me all my options, and educated me in the process. This is where my family and I plan on having our dental work moving forward. Everyone from the receptionist to the dentist were 10/10, simply some great people! If more were like this maybe less people would be afraid of going to the dentist!

Dr. Thorup is friendly and always looking to help his patients. He isn’t pushy, and never tries to push products or procedures on you. The team is efficient and thorough with their cleaning. They are friendly too! A nice bonus is that they offer an in house health plan for those who do not have dental insurance. As a grad student without benefits, this is essential for me.

By far the best Dentistry I have ever been to. They are very calm, understanding, and professional. They do great work while also filling you in on exactly what they are doing. You cant go wrong with either doctor. I highly recommend this practice.

I have had a wonderful experience at this dentist office. Dr. Theurer is amazing. He remembers who I am as soon as I sit in the chair. His staff also remember me and care about my life. They were one of the first to congratulate me on my engagement! (Granted in happened during the pandemic and I had an appointment the morning after) I also had a crown fall out late one Saturday evening. I called the office and Dr. Theurer came in and put it right back on no hassle at all. I recommend this dentists office wholeheartedly to anyone in the Salt Lake area.

Amazing experience!!! Never thought I’d say that about a dental office but Dr. Thorup and Kevin were very accommodating with my first crown appointment. Not a huge fan of their business model. They offer free consultations, but it is only free if you follow through with their treatment plan, which I dont appreciate, especially since I was promised it was free regardless. I am sure that the dentist is great, but I dont think you should promise free consults if they are actually $250.

I am taking classes to complete my certification as dental assistant. I am so glad I had the opportunity to complete part of my externship hours with the Sugar House Dentist Office, I felt so welcomed by everyone from the moment I arrived. Juliet was very kind and patient with me, she explained me different dental procedures and multiple expanded dental assistant processes. I felt very fortunate to work with Juliet, she is very knowledgeable, she has high standards of ethics and professionalism. I appreciate Dr. Thorup who was very king to allow me observe interesting and new dental techniques and treatments, such as 3D scanning for posterior crowns and an innovating technique to treat gingiva recession scalpel-free and suture-free procedure. Last but not least, thank you Kevin for letting me shadowing you to learn more about four handed dentistry. I am so grateful to Dr. Thorup!!! Ive never been to this office before today, but called in for an emergency dental pain I had been dealing with for about 2 weeks now. The pain got so bad I just knew I needed it removed. The office squeezed me in between patients and I actually got the tooth removed the same day! I have officially found a new dentist! If I could give them 50 stars I would. This was by far the best dental experience I have had! I have a mouth full of land mines from the normal dude stuff (eating sweet tarts in bed, drinking copious amounts of Mtn Dew, and biting my fishing line with my teeth.) not only were the staff very friendly, but they didn’t even roll their eyes when I told them I flossed every day. Dr. Theurer rocked it like Def Leppard in the late 80’s, and was precise, explained every detail, and was so efficient that he doesn’t even need a hair net or a cap. I’m going to eat a bunch more candy just so I can get another cavity to see them again.In all seriousness, I’d highly recommend this place!*** update ***I went back to get a permanent crown put on my molar and it’s a perfect fit after Dr. Theurer and Brittany made sure the bite was perfect. 25 golden stars for the good Doc and 50 for Brittany! Excellent staff here that truly cares about their work (even though I offered to train them through some great YouTube videos I’ve been watching.)

Went here based on recommendation from a friend. Very friendly, professional, and thorough. Dr. Thorup never makes you feel rushed and was gentle and understanding of my dislike for dental procedures. Hygienist Christopher is nice and takes the time to do a good job. All the support staff actually seem to care that you have a good experience. Youre not just another customer here. The fish tank in the waiting room is cool too!

My experience was amazing at the Sugar House Dental was amazing. They made me feel comfortable and were very understanding of my extreme anxiety about going to the dentist. I have been going to the Sugarhouse dentist for about 3 years now, and Dr. Theurer is the best dentist I have ever been to. He makes me feel comfortable and his hygienist are so personable. I’ve had a number of procedures done such as Invisalign, veneers, and a gum lift. Everything turned out wonderfully with no issues on either end. I recommend him and his team to everyone! I enjoy my conversation with Chris each time I get my teeth cleaned and I appreciate the staffs attention to patient comfort and concerns. I have had painful experiences with lidocaine before. (injection usually hurts worse than the actual bone break from as it feels like that part of my body is being slammed in a car door from the inside out). I was very nervous to get a lidocaine injection in my gums. When I mentioned this they immediately switched the syringe and used another drug that worked well for me. Dr. Thorup also called to see how I was doing later that night. Thanks!

I could not be more pleased with my visit to the Sugar House Dentist! I have had an extreme fear of dentists and doctors my whole life and I was extremely nervous to go for a cleaning at a new dentists office (Im new to the area). My brother highly recommended this place so I made an appointment. Immediately when I walked in, I felt great energy from the place. It was comfortable and very inviting. The receptionists were great, they had coffee and hot cocoa and a beautiful fish tank. My hygienist, Christina, was amazing - so friendly and chatty which made me feel very comfortable. Just when I thought the experience couldnt get any better, Dr. Thorup walked in and was so kind, funny and caring. He is very smart and went out of his way to ensure I remained comfortable. Who knew a dentists appoint could actually make my day!!? I was smiling all day, not only because my teeth were nice and white, but because I had such a great experience at this office. I highly recommend you stop looking anywhere else and visit this office!

My mother in-law recommend the periodontist that my husband sees and Dr. Thorup Is the dentist that is recommended. I had a crown that I had originally done when I was 16 yrs old, so at the time I’m on my 2nd one. He recommended getting a new one as it has a lot of wear on it and I don’t remember when I had done the second one. So I said sure. (In the mean time all the many years back I’ve had pain with this tooth and previous dentist have said there was nothing wrong.) As he took it off there was decay on the remaining tooth and the cotton balls from the root canal that was done was still in there “OMG it was so gross”. As he was done he did a great job fixing it. Now gets the real crown on, I had asked if he can close in the gap and make the crown feel like a “tooth”. When he put it one it fit perfectly, no issues, no fixing or anything. I was so happy!!!! Any others I’ve had they had to be filed down to be able to fit and bite down.I just love this dentist!!!! Yeppie!!!!

We had a bit of a dental emergency for my 11 yr old daughter and found this place on google. They had great reviews, AND the reviews were 100% correct. I had such a good first experience with this dentist. Kind, calm, and thoroughly explained what needed to happen for him to help my daughter. The dental assistant and dentist were great with my kiddo and really interacted with her brilliantly. Would highly recommend. Will be our family dentist from now on!

I came to this office for the pinhole gum surgery technique when my gum recession became uncomfortable. Dr. Theurer and his staff all did a wonderful job. He was super friendly and explained everything clearly so I understood exactly what would happen. The procedure was painless and the recovery was smooth.Most recently I came back to their office for a second opinion with some cavities another dentist told me I had. Dr. Theurer walked through the x-rays with me to explain what cavities look like and what healthy teeth look like. Turns out I didnt have any cavities. The office didnt charge me for the appointment or the x-ray. I will definitely be switching to this office for my regular dental cleaning!

Looking for a new dentist, I found Theurer Family Dental online and saw that they had great reviews. My husband and I just went in for our new patient cleaning appointments a few days ago and we were definitely not disappointed! The staff was friendly and welcoming. The hygienist who cleaned our teeth was great and explained what she was doing the whole time, asking if we had any questions or concerns. Dr. Theurer was very kind, asking where we were from, what we do for work, etc. before he even examined our teeth. We are glad we found such a great dentist!

I was literally in the seat for the total of 10 minutes and got an X-Ray and was charged 600 dollars and then told I need to go see a Endodontist in the same building for another 800 dollars. The scam they have of passing you to another guy to deal with a root canal let’s me know these guys are lazy dentist’s who only wanna do the basics. I strongly suggest a lot of these other reviewers bring their issues up with the better business bureau. I know I will. Something about this place feels slimy and I untrustworthy.

Every single visit I am impressed with how knowledgeable, caring, and thorough Dr Thuerer and his staff are! Every single person I have interacted with there is pleasant and make the experience so comfortable.I recently had a root canal that had been performed somewhere else (I had switched insurance and wasnt covered at the time) get severely infected over a few days. Because of the position of the infection and the complexity of the situation, Dr. Theurer had to refer me to a specialist (also fantastic and in the same building). I appreciated that Dr. Theurer was able to recognize that I needed a more complex procedure and that the guy he referred me to did excellent work.After seeing the specialist, I returned to Dr. Theurer to do another root canal and crown, fix the temporary filling from the last procedure, and get some fillings taken care of that I had put off. Dr Thuerer was able to take care of all of it within two appointments. He and Courtney kept me comfortable through all of the work and checked in with me often to make sure I wasnt feeling any pain.Now that the numbness has worn off, I can feel that the crown and fillings are perfect and my bite is totally comfortable. It feels like my teeth are in the same condition they were before the dental issues. I am so impressed and I recommend them highly any time the topic of dentists or dental work comes up!

This was the best dentist visit I’ve ever had! Usually the Dr will be awkward or quiet! Dr. Theurer was so nice and he explained everything he was doing! Courtnie was super nice and very gentle when she did my xrays! I usually hate going to the dentist because they’re aggressive or belittling but everyone was so friendly, I will definitely be going back!

The office staff was great & helped me set up my next few appointments. There was a traveling hygienist who was great! My wife and I have struggled for over a year to find a solid dentist in Utah. Dr. Thorup and his wonderful staff took amazing care of my wife by helping her mend a molar that was heavily impacted by a faulty extraction done to the neighbor tooth by another dentist in Holladay.Dr. Thorup went far above and beyond to check in with my wife and I on her status knowing that we went to see in during our last two weeks in Utah. It was clear to us that he didnt want her experiencing any pain as we braced our selves for a 30+ hour drive from SLC to Washington, DC.This practice is top notch on all accounts.

I had My laser hair removal done by Brittany, it has worked so well and I’ve only done it twice, I’ve tried getting laser done at 3 other places and it’s never worked as well as this and it is completely painless. I have also gone to both Dr. Theurer and Dr. Thorup, they were both amazing and I highly recommend coming here for both cosmetic and your dentistry needs !

David Thorup and all the staff are sweet they really care about their patients and they make you feel right at home. This is my second visit there so far and I would highly recommend them. Thankfully they do payments which is good for us because unfortunately my husbands insurance doesnt cover everything.

The Doctor was absolutely amazing! The staff on the other hand treated me terrible. Calling me everything from a liar to a joke. The way I was treated was noticed by a sweet receptionist who gave me the name of the lady, and told me to share my experience and nobody should have to be treated like that. She apologized over and over!! Now publicly, I would like an apology from Brandi.. she was in no way professional or courteous. Because of the experience with her, she has lost more than one client. Shame on you!!!

Clean, punctual, skilled, and wonderful chair side manner from all of the staff. The dental work Ive had done here has been great, and Dr. Theurer fixed a difficult persistent problem expertly. Our daughter (nearly three years old) has been getting little check ups here since her first birthday, and looks forward to seeing the beautiful fish in the aquarium in the lobby. She sat in the chair by herself for the first time this visit and was put at ease by Dr. Theurer immediately. We love this office!

Dr. Thorup and Dr. Theurer are the best. I worked at The Sugar House Dentist for 1 year as a hygienist and loved it. I mostly worked with Dr. Thorup, who is the most caring dentist Ive ever known. He listens to his patients and will go above and beyond to make the experience in the best interest of the patient. Juliet, one of his assistants, will do the same. She is the sweetest person and will say such kind words that will make your day. I also worked along side with the other hygienist, Christopher, who graduated from the same hygiene school as I did. He is so great with his patients, they all want to keep coming back to him. He loves to have conversations with his patients about their xrays and concerns, and goes above and beyond to make each patient comfortable. I absolutely loved my time working here. I am sad to leave, but I needed some lifestyle changes, and could no longer work the 6 to 6 shifts. I will miss working with these amazing people. They all have a special place in my heart. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience!!! 💕

The best dentistry practice I have ever been to. One of my main reasons of trying this place out is that they offer fluoride free teeth cleaning! I have always hated going to the dentist and it was always an uncomfortable place to be. I am a relatively new patient here and so far my experience and interaction with the staff members have been nothing but amazing. They are so kind, helpful, considerate, and most importantly they were informative and kept me in the loop about everything they were doing. I feel Dr. Theurer is meticulous, experienced, and careful. I am grateful I was able to get my root canal done by him and his team. He also throws in a few jokes while he’s performing on your teeth 😂 it lightens up the mood. Thanks for everything! I’ll be coming here routinely until I need to move again for my husband’s military service relocation. If I could have this practice for the rest of my years, I would totally only go to them!

This office is amazing. I was scared out of my wits to get the PST procedure done but Dr. Theurer & Brittany took amazing care of me! The procedure was quick and painless & IM BACK AT WORK THE NEXT DAY!! Dr. Theurer even called me the afternoon I had my work done, just to see how I was holding up. Im so grateful that I went to them & I would recommend them to my dearest friends and family without hesitation. They made it a good experience. Thank you Dr. Theurer & Brittany. You guys saved the day!!!

I was in a lot of pain and needed an emergency root canal. Dr. Eldredge was SO helpful! The whole staff made sure I was getting the care I needed as quickly as possible and were all very friendly. Dr. Eldredge did an excellent job and was very knowledgeable about the whole ordeal. I felt like he was taking his time to make sure the root canal was done in the best way possible. Definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY recommending to others!!

I had the best experience at this dentist and specifically with Dr. Thorup the other day. Ive always gotten really nervous about going to the dentist but Dr. Thorup made me feel really comfortable and it was the best experience at a dentist I’ve ever had

This office is always amazing. Good dentists are hard to come by, and Jared is one of them. His staff is always pleasant and I look forward to coming in every 6 months. Also, they have an excellent claims specialist in the office that works the patients through billing before procedures if wanted, but after procedures each visit. I can tell they know that patient knowledge is power.

Absolutely the best dentist I’ve ever been to! I had to find a new dentist when I moved to Salt Lake. I had been going to the same dentist for most of my life but Dr Theurer is even better! He’s great to talk to, gentle, thorough and quick! He explains everything and his staff is very nice. He was recommended to me by 3 people and i recommend him to everyone. Be sure to find the dentist office with the fish tank! There are a couple other dentists with the same name.

This place definitely puts an emphasis on making sure people feel comfortable and in control of their dental care. State-of-the-art equipment with very reasonable prices. Thorough job on helping me understand my insurance benefits and options for care and payment. Helpful friendly staff. I was impressed with everything and glad I found them.

There are many Dentists to choose in the Salt Lake Valley. I have yet to meet one with the caliber quality of care and service as Theurer Family Dental. I recently had to find a new Dentist due to mine retiring. Distraught I wouldn’t find one as amazing, with some searching, I was lucky enough to come across Dr. Theurer. Walking into the office is always a pleasure like no other Dentist offers. The office is warm and welcoming. You are greeted by a beautiful fish tank in the waiting room. The offices are always clean and tidy. Dr. Theurer is very attentive with me and respectful of my wishes. Prices are a bargain for the services provided! The Theurer Dental team makes me feel like family.

Dr. Theurer and his staff are everything I hope to find in a dentist office. Punctual, clean, friendly, gentle, honest, and thorough. Hes got a great eye--he placed a crown on my tooth implant that looks natural as can be. Fillings are painless and easy. At one point I had a gun infection (yuck) that he quickly diagnosed. It was causing me gum discomfort and bleeding. After a specialized medical cleaning, my gums are in great shape again. Thank you Dr. T and staff!!

For having to go to the dentist, I found my experience very pleasant. The office staff were amazing and very knowledgeable. Dr. Theurer was gentle and kind as he listened to my story. Best dentist I ever had. They always explain step by step on what they are doing. This important trait is especially important to me, because I like to know what is about to be done on my teeth so I know what to expect. This lowers my anxiety tremendously.Not only are they informative with everything they do, they also are extremely skilled and delicate with their tasks such as, but not limited to, cleaning, flossing, cavity treatment, etc.I will definitely stick to this dentist as long as I live in Utah.Thanks again!

I wasnt happy with my first visit here. I came in because I needed a routine cleaning and needed to be off to work. They were very slow and didnt respect my time. I felt the whole time they were trying to sell me into things and told me for my treatment plan it would be a 1000 dollars and my insurance wouldnt cover Most of it. They diagnosed me with a serious gym disease and will likely be getting a second opinion.Anyway they spent an hour and half trying to sell me things and I didnt even get my teeth cleaned like I wanted. I would not go back.

Everyone is so nice and its a great atmosphere. They treat you like part of a family. I like the hygienist, Brittany, she is always so nice and laughs at my lame jokes ;) Dr. Theurer makes sure that he does his best work and he has helped me so much with my teeth and jaw pain after wisdom teeth removal (which was done somewhere else). My work friend referred me to him and I am so glad I have found my forever dentist! I would recommend him and his office to everyone :)

If I could give this practice 10 Stars I would. As soon as you walk in the doors you have this peaceful vibe and waiting in the waiting room its just comfortable. I didnt want to get out of my chair. I went in because I had an abscess on the roof of my mouth. I told them to lay it on me and let me know what I need to get done. Not only was I told exactly what needed to be fixed, I was given different options from Dr. Theurer and his staff but they asked me what I was comfortable with instead of what needs to be done. I chose to get the infected tooth extracted rather than a root canal and i have had 3 teeth extracted. This one was so easy going I felt like a little kid who was nervous but the super hero dentist made my experience so painless and memorable that I want to go nowhere but Theurer Family Dental. I have had some dentist rest there knee on my chest and try to extract my tooth. This practice I could have fell asleep while they were extracting my teeth. I have a cleaning scheduled tomorrow and I cannot wait to see The staff here. ALRIGHT lets just say I give it 10 stars. THANK YOU EVERYONE @ Theurer Family Dental.

My husband and I were on our way back from vacation and one of his crowns popped out. Dr. Thorup made an effort to fit him in and fix his crown ASAP. Dr. Thorup has been my dentist for this last year and I’ve always been impressed by his service. I was in awe of how he went above and beyond to help my husband (who wasn’t currently a patient). We will be long-time patients at this office.

I loathe dentists. Like, deep abiding fear and dislike. But Dr Theurer and the whole team at The Sugar House Dentist have gone to great lengths to alter that perception. From the appt setup where they reassured and comforted me to the financial negotiations where they remained fair and accommodating to the actual sessions where they took great lengths to ensure I was as comfortable as humanly possible. Because of my dentophobia, my teeth were in AWFUL shape. Less than 2 months and only a few sessions later, we are almost at a perfect mouth.

I started going to Dr. Theurer because of some issues I was having with my gums. He was so knowledgeable about what I needed to do when I was never previously told by my other dentist. He made me feel confident about going forward with a treatment plan all while being so kind & caring. His whole care team is even so friendly & professional. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that is having issues with their teeth. Especially gum recession.
