Caring and honest. It seemed the transmission in my truck was going out, or so I thought. I took it to another transmission shop and they confirmed I need it rebuilt. They quoted me $3000.00. After doing some research through the Better Business Bureau, I found under their transmission tips that no one can tell you how much your transmission will cost to rebuild without taking it apart. This bothered me, so I took it to Cottman Transmission in Round Rock. The Manager and mechanics were very helpful. They checked my truck for me. Guess what? All I needed was a speed sensor replaced. The $3000.00 ended up being about $350.00. Thanks guys, you saved my holidays.

These guys are very good at big jobs. Unfortunately for me over the past I need a couple of big jobs done. A transmission overhaul in one car and an engine replacement (yes an engine replacement in another) Both times they did excellent work. Both cars drive better than they did before the troubles. Would highly recommend then if, unfortunately, you need major work done to your carI use Cottman for my routine maintenance workBrent, Round Rock

In June of 2015 My Wifes 2006 Accords Transmission started slipping. (138,000 miles) This is a known problem with Honda of that vintage. The transmission had been properly taken care of.Cottman Round Rock fixed the transmission AND did not take any short cuts!At 153,000 the transmission is working greatWould highly recommend CottmanJohn H.

I had the transmission go out on my Ford Escape and luckily it broke down next to this shop. Steve gave me a free evaluation and helped me keep my cool in this stressful situation. It ended up needing some internal fixes and like with any transmission with internal issues it was going to be costly. I was never pressured into getting it rebuilt there and quoted prices that he held his word on. My car was taken care of, I can tell the shop took the time todo the job right. My car is running great again and its nice to have a warranty for an additional peace of mind. Would recommend to anyone looking for a professional transmission shop with honest service.

Our SUV broke down on a cross-state family trip. We basically glided into this transmission shop. They were able to diagnose and repair the serpentine belt (pretty obvious since it was completely missing, haha) and repair it for a fair price. John, the manager, was very courteous and didnt mind our two little girls making a raucous in the waiting area. Plenty of shops would have tried to take advantage, but I feel that they were completely fair and got the job done as quickly as they could for us.Thank you so much for helping us out! It could have been so much worse if we didnt break down right where we did! :-)

I had my engine oil & transmission fluid changed at a local Round Rock oil change business. I saw the manager and technicians fumbling around, so I asked what was wrong. The manager told me they were trying to remove the change transmission fluid message from my Saturn information display. After 45 min. of fumbling around, they told me my car was ready, and that they could not clear the message. The managers advice was to go to a transmission shop to have it cleared. I went to COTTMAN of Round Rock, and Steve found quickly the technical data to clear the message, at no charge. I believe next time I will see Steve about further transmission service.

These guys are amazing. They have helped me keep my 2005 Ford Expedition 4x4 on the road, without fault, for a long time now (200,000mi and counting!). Anytime I have had an issue or a question, they are quick to help me out. They do a thorough job when working on it, going above and well beyond, when many local companies will only do a half a$$ job at it. For instance, a transmission fluid change is what will be needed...A local shop will want to charge you from $150-$250 for a transmission flush, not getting out all the old fluid, not changing the filters, and try diluting the old fluid with new fluid. Nope! Not good at all! Now Cottmans...they will charge you $150, drop the pan, change out the old filters with new ones, blow out the old fluid, clean it up, and fill it with NEW fluid. Yes, it may take you a bit longer to have this done (around a few hours)...but which way would you rather have it done...the Right way, or the Wrong, Lazy A$$ way??? I like my service done RIGHT for my ride, and so should you, that is, if you want to keep it on the road without repairs in the future. These folks are the down home, honest type and are there for you if you ever need assistance.I will continue to use them for as long as I am driving...Yall have a good day now!

I wish you could give zero stars!I took my Jeep there for a leak. They told me it probably had a bad seal and also gave me feedback on how it was shifting poorly. They wanted $600.00 to open it up and tell me how much it would be to repair the problem. I asked what the worse case scenario would be. The guy couldnt answer me. Or maybe I should say wouldnt. If they would need to completely rebuild the transmission, would expect they could at least give a range if not an actual amount. So, being VERY suspicious, I took it to another shop for a second opinion. They said it just needed a pan gasket. Said I might as well do a new filter since they will already be in it. I told them what Cottmans said and asked if they were sure. They said they were sure. After one week, it is running great. I am still trying to figure out if these guys are totally incompetent or complete thieves.

I had my transmission rebuilt by a different shop, it never ran right and quit working within a short amount of time. The shop did not honor their warranty. It was recommended to me to go to Cottmans, so I had my truck towed there. Cottmans rebuilt my transmission and honored my warranty even after it ran out. Steve and Cynthia really came through for me, I really appreciate their help.

The transmission in my vehicle started kicking a bit and some warning lights came on. I took it first to my primary mechanic who I trust very much. He plugged in his code-reader and said he got codes for sensor solenoids which is something they dont do in that shop. I took my vehicle to Cottman. A mechanic named Randy was the only one there, the owner, Steve, was out. Randy spent an hour messing with my car and finally said he couldnt get his code reader to communicate with my cars computer. He said they would need to do a 2 hour diagnosis which he said would cost me about $100. I made an appointment to come back the next day. When I went back for the appointment, the owner Steve was there. He said the so-called diagnosis would cost me $105 per hour, and I needed to authorize 2 hours for the work. I asked him if it would take 2 hours, he said if not then he would only charge me for the time it did take. I should have stayed to watch them do the work, but I left, naively believing they would do the diagnosis and be honest about the results. When Steve called me back, he said the whole computer in my vehicle was out and it would need to be replaced before he could read any codes to find out what was wrong with the transmission. He said it would cost upwards of $1300, BUT he was going to deduct $150 for the cost of the [fake] diagnosis. How kind. On recommendation from a wrecker driver who said he used to drive for Cottman but had to quit because they are, Notorious for ripping people off, I took it to a small transmission shop. The owner of that shop said he didnt understand why Cottmans said they couldnt communicate with my computer, because he had no problems doing so. He plugged the code-reader in to show me what was coming up. Low and behold-it was the sensor solenoid, just as my primary mechanic said in the first place. This transmission shop owner explained a couple of options, quoted me a price for the part and told me the cost of the labor. Very reasonable. I went straight to Cottman, marched back behind the desk and told Steve to show me what he had in his computer in regards to my vehicle. He pulled up one page that only said they couldnt communicate with my vehicles computer. I asked him if they actually did a 2 hour diagnostic for $100 per hour. He said Oh, you mean this and pulled some papers out of a file. I asked him if there was anything in his computer that said I owe him money and he said no. I told him to print and sign something confirming that I owe him nothing. He said he just didnt understand why I was upset. I told him I figured out his scam: (1) Lie to me about communication problems and claim that I need a whole new computer (2) Charge me $1300 for work that they were not going to do because it didnt need to be done (3) After pretending to change out the whole computer, he was going to say Oh, NOW we can communicate, and NOW we see the problem codes in order to charge me again for the real problem. He didnt deny it at all, he just started talking about voltages. I told him I did not need to hear his voltage nonsense and told him to print and sign the paper so I could be on my way, which he did. Every mechanic that I have talked to (plus the wrecker driver) has said the same thing- NEVER GO TO COTTMAN TRANSMISSION. I have since looked at some other reviews and have found that this type of thing is pretty standard practice for them. Steve is a con-man, and obviously trains his mechanics (Randy) to take as much as they can con from their customers.

Worst experience ever will never recommend anyone to take their vehicle to cottmans they will rip u off they dont honor their warranty and worst of all your car will leave shop worse than what it was to begin with!!! also if u try to get help from corporate they dont help u at all corporate is just as useless as the company itself cottmans stresses that they are about honor and the customers leaving satisfied and happy its a bunch of bull they are very rude and have no knowledge of what to look for underneath the hood of a vehicle when I spoke to corporate the man speaking on behalf of cottmans was very rude as well you will get nowhere with this company my vehicle was sent to another cottmans shop to be repaired and when I spoke to the gentlemen there I asked why my car was brought there and was told because the mechanics at the round rock location do not know what they are doing so when they need something done right they send it to the location on south Austin which is just as crappy as all the other cottman locations im sure if this is the way business is done Im so surprised that the company is still in business so with that being said good luck and beware

I am only commenting on my experience.I had taken my vehicle for a brake problem to Firestone twice in the month of June 2014. I was experiencing my caliper not releasing my wheel and the brake pads gone through because of the hydraulics not releasing. I initially tried to diagnose my self and replaced the pins and pads. It relieved the issue for maybe a month or two but started again in June, which prompted me Firestone visit. They looked at the caliper and stated that it in fact was not releasing, adding that they would do a whole inspection. Cool. Got my car back but it was doing the same thing. Took it back into Firestone and the rechecked it, and replaced the hoses and caliper and pads again. Great! Got my car back and found the problem persisted. When I went back in, they stated it could not be the bakes because they fixed that part and told me to get the transmission checked, recommending Cottmans..Cottmans kept my car the whole day and called me to tell me that it was infact STILL the brake system - booster and master cylinder!!I thank them for their courteousness and for proving me NOT to be a crazy lady. I knew my car was messed up.I am not sure that I will have them do the work, however, only because I have money invested in Firestone and feel that they should fix their mistake. If I do choose them I will make sure to review that as well.Great service so far though!!

Im never taking any of my vehicles to Cottmans transmission again. Ive already paid these guys a 1000 dollars. And they tell me I cant have my vehicle back yet because some lady has to process my paperwork. Jennifer doesnt know how to communicate. Jennifer lied to me in my face. Then she called me a liar and a theft. And the district manager Steve I talked to said they will only have my truck for 2 days that was a lie. I called Steve and he treated me like I was less them him. He talked to me with no respect. Its been almost a week. NEVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO COTTMANS TRANSMISSION THEY OUR VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I do alot of mechanic work on customers cars. Im never going to recommend COTTMANS TRANSMISSION to any one. I have a very sour taste in my mouth. You have been warned…Cotttmans transmission in RoundRock Texas will rob you.

Took my Saturn Vue to have the transmission fluid changed out. Paid $130 for the fluid change. The guy took me to work and then called when the service was complete. I was having some rough shifting before I took it in. The tech told me that he would inspect it first because sometimes changing the fluid will cause more problems than leaving it alone. I appreciated his honesty. However, 3 weeks after the change I started having very rough shifting. After some questioning, I discovered that Cottmans put in the wrong type of Transmission fluid. My Saturn Vue takes special Honda Z1 ATF. I didnt know this at the time, but these guys should had known it. When I approached them on the mistake, they tried to claim that any fluid will work, but I showed them the manual which said Z1 Fluid Only! They wouldnt help me at all. I even offered to go buy the other fluid and bring it to them. I ended up having to flush my transmission with three rounds of Z1 on my own and five months later the Vue is still running smooth as butter. Avoid these guys at all costs.
