I had a great experience with Shear Ego! Off the bat, they were very polite and professional when I called to make an appointment! They’re also very accommodating. There’s a private room in the back for customers who request a more private area to get their hair done. When I requested to get my hair done there, they made a note of it right away and made it happen! All of the stylists were respectful and understanding of the accommodation and I just appreciate it so much! I also had a great experience with stylist Tess for the second time now; she’s very kind and does a great job! My hair came out exactly how I hoped! I’d also like to add that prices are fair for the quality of service that you receive.

I have to say I was the bride for the bridalParty that came in this past Saturday for my bachelorette. The ladies were nice, but the quality of work for the price Shearego charges is crazily disproportionate. I get gel nails every two weeks at a place near where I live in Buffalo and have never had chipping or nails breaking prior to two weeks. I had actually gone in with the sameGel nails I got done two weeks prior and the women had a hard time getting them off they wereDone so well. My point for this review is I have my wedding in a month and have been growing outMy nails for the last 6 months and working to get the perfect half almond shape that I had achieved prior to coming to shearego. My bridesmaids got me this gift as a fun thing to do together for my bachelorette which was great, but now it is 2 days later and my ring finger nail broke (within 20 Minutes of leaving shearego which should not happen if the gel is done properly) but I also have a second broken nail now and chipping. Also Shown the nail was not fully painted so it looks like my nails have been paintedFor two weeks when in reality it has been 2 days.The pedicure I was given was not much better. As pictures it is uneven and just plain sloppy.Beyond upset with the poor quality and the fact that we were charged such high prices for it.

I saw Cristina for the first time and she is wonderful! I’m always very vague about how I want my hair cut which I know can be hard for some stylists. But after a quick consult Cristina was able to deliver a wonderful cut! Definitely going back.

I personally feel like I was racially profiled. I feel like I didn’t get the job here because of how I look. Im Hispanic and definitely don’t fit the look of how the other women looked. I felt as though I was being judged for having curly puffy hair. During my interview she made gestures with her hand and asked if my hair was “big” and I was told my hair needed to be done I’m assuming straight, or pushed back as she explained. I am glad to not get the job. I never want to work in a place where I’m supposed to feel safe, and not feel and look like myself. Absolutely no one needs to change their appearance to fit the picture. Just be kind, be positive and do your job. I think it was unprofessional and no one should be treated that way.

I have been getting my hair highlighted for 15 years and I have never found anyone who does as good of a job as Jackie. I can’t believe it took me so long to find an expert like her. I love the atmosphere and professionalism.They were also very accommodating after I had my baby and needed to find a place to pump while I was getting my hair done. I was given a private spa room and they ensured I was comfortable every step of the way.

First time coming to Shear Ego. I was able to get in for appointment same day. Tess was beyond awesome! Very easy going and easy to talk to. She listened to what I wanted and did better than I imagined. I’m in love with my new hair. I HIGHLY recommend her and cannot wait to come back in July. Place was very clean and professional. All the staff I interacted with was extremely nice. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

It was my first time getting my hair done and I was very excited. However, my hair came out very uneven with chunks of hair (that I asked for) not being colored, giving a choppy and non-cohesive look- despite paying an up-charge of 30$. I voiced my unhappiness and Karen handled it very professionally. However, when I came in to get it fixed, i was treated VERY unprofessionally by Mandy who rolled her eyes at me and was just very rude/disrespectful. For the price I paid, my hair is uneven with random pieces of ICE BLONDE hair- I have naturally dark brown hair and got a caramel balayage/highlights. It just was not what I was looking for, nor what I asked or voiced, and the treatment I received was horrendous. If you are looking for a place to color your hair for the first time, I highly would not recommend this place. They take advantage of you if you are new and do not know a lot about hair. I am told that the out of places are normal- I know enough to know they are not, especially when it is not what I wanted. For the price point, there are many other places you can go to give you an amazing color job. I have wasted money in gas by just driving back and forth to receive some sort of compensation for my hair.I will add photos to show the overall color of the balayage (also showing the unevenness, and the random streaks of ice blonde?!)I hope this helps somebody and saves them some money!

Relaxing Swedish custom pressure massage with Carly who is an excellent therapist! She is friendly and intuitive. The massage rooms are spacious and have beautiful murals that make the spa area very relaxing.

Had a deep tissue massage... Natasha was amazing. Very skilled and attentive. I will see her again for sure. The facility is very nice and clean. COVID limited the experience a little I think but definitely will be back.

With the exception of the front staff I was extremely disappointed. Sabrina was the absolute worst stylist I have ever been to she seemed very inexperienced. I colored my hair a few weeks back and it was a bit to dark for me so I decided to come here. She went on and on about my hair being so damaged which it really isn’t but besides that she did a test strand told me there was nothing she could do and if I wanted the now bleached strand back to brown that she would have to charge me! I am so confused that now I have one streak of blondish orange in my hair from her. UPDATE: I went to a different salon and this stylist had no issue doing some beautiful blond highlights that I absolutely love.

I went to Mareena for the first time. I just read her reviews and saw she was good. She fixed my hair. At first it was dull and looked like a mom haircut. She made it look more younger and a lot better and she did a blonde bayalage for me and it turned out amazing!! She was very friendly and knew what she was doing. I will defiantly be going back to her!

Told the hairdresser I wanted really ashy hair with highlights and lowlights. In the past 20 years it has always been great. This stylist ignored my advice that coloring my roots would turn my hair brassy. She said it would be fine, she has tons of experience. She did the foils, never came back to check them, had her shampoo girl take me out of the chair and shampoo me. This woman then put the toner in and immediately washed it out. I got in the chair and the stylist took off the towel and my hair was BRASSY. I let her dry it so I could see the color. I told her that it was not ashy and she told me it was beautiful. It was orange. The top 4 inches is orange. How a high-level stylist can let a customer walk out of the salon looking like this is infuriating. $195 for a horrid job. I will not be going back ever again.

I love Shear Ego! I have been going for about 6 years. I had to go 4 months without getting my hair done and Mareena got it back to normal after one visit. She is the best. They have all of their protocol in place to make you feel safe and secure during this tough time. Highly recommend.

I was very disappointed with the haircut. I know my hair is hard to cut especially for inexperienced people. My hair had not been cut in two years and was very long, down almost to my waist. I just wanted a few inches cut off and still long enough to put up. What happened was that several inches were cut off and one side ended being longer than the other. The stylist had to get another stylist to help her with the side she messed up on. I don’t want the hair to be any shorter which would occur to make it symmetrical. I am so depressed about it. I will never get another hair cut again. Very sad about the whole affair. I can barely put it up now as it is too short. 😕

It was truly the ultimate pampering... facial, hand, foot, neck & shoulder massages, heated bed, soft music... I cant recommend this or Shear Ego enough! Thank you for making this such a great day. Lucy is a wonderful person and a fabulous colorist/hairdresser. She is always in a great mood and never forgets to ask about my life. I have been coming here for 12 years and wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. I’ve had a lot of bad hair experiences and do not wish to venture out again. Lucy is terrific and the salon is beautiful. I’ve also had massages here. Nothing but positive experiences. It’s expensive so I don’t come as often as I would like to, but I know I will get quality service from Lucy. One time I thought my hair was too dark and she fixed it immediately and without charge. You can’t ask for anything more. Plus I enjoy seeing what color she dyes her own hair—it’s always changing and it’s fabulous!

1st time getting gel manicure..gave 3 stars because they were really nice and welcoming. Anastasia did great job with nail art. Not sure but I think for 70$ it should last longer then week,(still look decent) but i could be wrong??..if thats the case I would not get them done again for that much anywhere. Hannah did an amazing job! I went for a cut and color. I wanted to go a shade or two darker, but was a bit nervous. She showed me my options, offered to mix two shades so that the color wouldn’t be as dark/dramatic, trimmed as much as I needed to keep my hair healthy, and topped it off with some curls (which I truly appreciated since I struggle to curl my own hair!) I will definitely be returning to Hannah for my hair care.

It was a great experience! From the warm welcome when I walked in, to the comforting hair wash, and amazing hair cut - this place is awesome. Lucy did an outstanding job and transformed my long locks into a fun & funky chin length hair do. She knew exactly what my hair needed. I hope my hair grows fast so I can go back sooner!

Services were ok. However the price quoted to me online for all the of our services was actually increased $5 each x 3 services. $15 extra. When I asked they told me there was an additional Covid Charge just need to tell your customers correct t pricing so they can anticipate.

Friendly staff and clean/nice location. I like how they sanitize their tools. Have had two different manicures here and very pleased with the results. Prices are very reasonable and the $25 Shear Pleasures manicure is a great basic manicure!

Incredible hair cut and color

I am very pleased with the service I receive at Shear Ego. I have pedicures done there and at my most recent appointment I stumbled getting out of the chair and ruined the polish on one toe. Becca, who had not serviced me, saw this happen and immediately “sprang into action “ and polished the nail again. All the stylists are great and I will continue to bring friends and refer to the spa without hesitation.

I have getting my hair done by Emily for years now, she is excellent and cares about what I want. Everyone at the salon is professional and kind. I highly recommend!

Every experience I’ve had at shear ego has been great! I’ve had my hair colored and cut, gel manicures, massages, and facials. All the stylists are very professional and want to make their clients happy. The last six months I have been getting facials done by Claudia. When I first went it was supposed to be a one time thing. I wanted to treat myself. Well I loved Claudia so much that I have been going every three weeks consistently. There are so many wonderful things to say about her I don’t even know where to start. I’ve always had dry skin with a lot of bumps. I never really took care of my skin. I always used to get pimples around my menstrual cycle. Since I’ve been seeing Claudia my skin is smooth and hydrated. I no longer have bags under my eyes and I don’t get any break outs during my period. I have never felt so confident with my skin. I used to wear face makeup every day and I can’t even remember the last time I used it. She not only helps with my skin but the actual facial itself is such a relaxing experience. I always go in very anxious, with a lot of energy and talk her ear off. By the end of the facial I’m half asleep, calm and relaxed. If you go to Shear Ego and want to get a facial I highly recommend Claudia. She’s absolutely amazing. Thank you Claudia! 💜💜💜💜

Mary M. did a fantastic job! Needed my hair cut last minute before a business trip, this was one of the few highly rated locations open on a Sunday. Booked my appointment with the Mens Club online, walked right in, sat right down and was given 5-star treatment! Clippers, sheers and even a traditional straight edge all with precision.

I went here for the first time as part of a bridal party. As far as initial customer service and set up of the appointment goes, it was fantastic. Once I got there, however, was when my experience steadily declined. If you are looking for a more cookie-cutter gendered experience, I dont think there would be any issues. However, if you are at all not a typical client, or have specific requests on how you want things done, then I wouldnt recommend this location for hair/ makeup services. I ended up going home before the wedding I was in to re-do my hair and remove my makeup. My opinions/ preferences were not taken into account and I was never reimbursed for my experience after attempting to speak to management.

I read the reviews and decided to have my hair cut at the Mens Club side of Shear Ego. Im very particular and rarely pleased with a haircut - but not this time. Samantha took me through the experience start to finish and Ive gotten compliments all day long, the best one saying well you finally got a great haircut. I seen a few comments with people saying it can be a bit pricey, but seriously...when people come up to you and offer unsolicited compliments, whats that worth?

My sister and I frequently have spa days - this was by far the most enjoyable, relaxing, professional spa we have visited. Ive had nothing but wonderful experiences at Shear Ego over the past 2.5 years in regards to their salon services. Never tried their spa side, but it looks very inviting. Yes, they are on the higher priced side (verses the dime a dozen chains) but you do get what you pay for. They do have a points system that you can earn for discounted services and I receive a discount coupon on my birthday. The stylist I see is Christina and she is amazing. I always feel that she takes her time and doesnt rush when she cuts, colors or styles my hair. She always has helpful suggestions for cuts or hi/low lights depending on the season and my hair looks fabulous when I leave. Everyone that I have been in contact with from the front desk to the other stylists and assistants have been professional and seem to enjoy working there. Ive lived long enough and visited enough hair salons; that if they fail to deliver a good product and a high level of service then Im looking elsewhere. They also keep their salon very clean and that is one aspect not lost on this customer. I hope they continue keeping their services at such a high level and retaining talented people such as Christina.
