This gym keeps amazing me with how bad there service and staff can get, This is my 3rd update to this review and i keeps going down each time. The staff (Besides a few) is very rude and unprofessional for a place costing upwards of $100 a month. Kurt and the Mens locker Room attendances are great. The front desk staff is horrible. I was lock out at 9:30 on a Saturday when I tried to get back in because I forgot an item in my locker and was told Were closed even though they didnt close for another 30 minutes. There is a member who uses the machines like its his own private gym and gets overly aggressive if you ask him to work-in. I talked to the Staff about it but did not get the response I would expect from a place that cost this much. Apparently some members are worth more then others. **The Membership relation manager is not helpful if you need actual membership help**Over all I would seek a better more professional place
Yoga and studio classes are great. Kids roomIs great.I would not recommend the outdoor swimming facility at this gym. Limited hours for family swim as well as water slides, not the cleanest pool facility, overcrowding in the hot tubs, kids playing around in the adult-only lap lanes, etc.
Kurt at the front desk was no help whatsoever. Doesn’t know how to communicate properly with people. Told me 3 different in the span of 5 minutes and was mumbling all his words because he had no idea what he was talking about. I’ve been a member since 2007. And this is how they treat their loyal customers.
I trained at many Planet Fitness from Cal to FL to MI and all places in between. This facility in Rochester Hills is by far the best. It is large enough for the amount of people. The equipment is always in great condition. The people are courteous and wipe down after use. Great club.
The staff are not professional we were at the outdoor pool with my two 12 year olds we chose a spot and set our stuff down then we went to the locker room for a minute and came back to get our stuff from outside a team member chased us out side and yelled at us across the pool in front of everyone. I told her i was just going to collect my things and then i asked for her name and she ran away and would not respond to me she ran to another worker who was very rude as well. I asked for his name and he responded with whats your name later I found that his name was Alex. He then told us we had to leave and he follow my two 12 year old daughters to the women locker room where people were undressing. They were very uncomfortable. After the incident, I spoke to a guest service representative and she didnt offer much help. I hope in the future, you guys hire some people are educated I know how to respect customer because their paycheck coming from a customer also the general manager his paycheck coming from customer especially when there’s a lot of competitions around .
Overpriced with terrible customer service. Annoying policies like billing for putting a membership on hold (like during a pandemic) and now billing to use the outdoor pool (because paying $150 per month for a gym is not enough). There are better options out there
Excellent gym everything was very clean and staff was friendly. Had a tennis march there and couldnt ask for much more. Lemon and orange infused water in the viewing area. Only issue was it was way too hot on thr courts. Need some AC in there
I am so beyond upset with Lifetime Fitness. We pay a great deal of money each month to use their facilities- basketball courts, gym, and pool. Recently, they have closed their courts from 9-5 during the day. What am I paying all of this money for? I could go get a $10 membership at any gym now because I don’t know if it’s even worth it to go here when they don’t offer the amenities that I (over) pay for.
We have to pay close to 100 dollars a month and one of the main reasons I am willing to do that is to play basketball. It is absolutely ridiculous that they have both courts closed every day untill 530 when one of the courts is not being used. There is no one using that court so there is no reason that the court should be closed. If this doesn’t change in a few days My family will be cancelling there family membership and I know a lot of my friends who will also do the same.
This place is a joke they close the basketball courts for no reason. I pay 100 dollars a month mainly for the courts and the gym I could spend 10 dollars a month at another gym and have it be just as good. So what draws me in is the basketball courts and when they are closed for long periods of time I don’t feel I am getting my money’s worth.
Why cant I sunbathe and swim near the small pool on Wednesday morning? write in your lifetime so that people do not come on Wednesday, I go to you exclusively for the pools on the street and when they are free you forbade me the opportunity to relax and swim thanks. for a ruined day off (
If you are thinking about getting a membership I do not recommend. You are wasting a hundred bucks a month and they close the basketball courts for no reason. I will have no choice but to cancel my membership if this does not change in the next few days.
This lifetime is not run properly at all. Kurt at the front desk holds a double standard for who he allows to use a guest pass. My friend wanted to workout upstairs with me so he can see if the gym was the right fit for him. He did not let my friend in with a guest pass because he said he doesn’t know if we are going to try to swim. I took my other friend in with my other guest pass and they let us in before 4 just to workout. I drove an hour with him to come here just for Kurt to not let me use my diamond level membership guest pass to have my friend workout with me. There are people that check you in at the pool, so his argument of whether or not he will know if we are going to workout or use the pool is invalid. The general manager at this facility needs to take action. Troy and Shelby location know how to treat their loyal customers. Been a member here since 07 along with many other family memebers and we have never been treated this way. I am reconsidering my membership along with my 7 other family members because of Kurts unprofessionalism. General manager needs to take action to get this facility under control.
This place is very professional, a lot less kids and rude manor then commerce location. I highly suggest paying more for this location. Even have separate pools for the little ones. Good experience.
Love Lifetime… I have been a member for many years.
Very clean gym with lots of equipment. Highly recommend!
Aspects of the club remain closed in a covid world. The club regularly announces mask wear is expected yet i see many members with masks on their chin or with their nose exposed. Ive mentioned this to club leaders with mixed results, mostly saying we do the best we can. People give you what you expect. Round the second floor regularly, especially at night. Im there after 6pm and the mask compliance is lame. Also the fee is the same even though some areas are closed.
Why is the Troy and Shelby location *significantly* cleaner? It seems that Im paying $30 extra to sit in filth and hair.
If you are getting a membership because you want to play basketball just know that they close them for no reason and you will not be able to play. Do not waste the 100 bucks you are paying
Buyer beware. We signed up for a family membershipin large part due to the full basketball courts available. I was very disappointed to hear from my son that LIfeTime has decided to close basketball courts from 9am-5pm for the rest of the summer. If this newly implemented policy does not change, we will be canceling our membership. RARA has full basketball courts for 1/10 of the price.
One of the main reasons for paying 100 dollars a month is to play basketball. It is extremely unfortunate that the basketball courts r closed everyday until 5:30 for no good reason.
Awesome friendly staff gym with lots of equipment lets get fit 😃
Anthony Ricci and the GM Joseph are great at the Rochester Hills location. Grant keeps the place pretty much immaculate where you could eat off of the floor. 😆 The front desk staff are hospitable and engaging. The trainers are well qualified and can be trusted to get results.
Great gym. Great place. Clean and quiet. Yoga instructor Raj is great. Her voice is very soothing.
I have spent the past two months at Lifetime Rochester Hills, MI. getting prepared for the United States Coast Guard in their pool. During this time I have gotten to know Jillian Caverly, one of the lifeguards there. Her presence has inspired me to keep coming back and keep improving on my stroke. She has given me many helpful pointers throughout our time on how to improve my stroke along with taking the time out of her day to time me for one of my upcoming tests. Her care and customer service skills are a huge part of the reason I keep coming back. Thank you Lifetime and thank you Jillian!!
Asian guy at front desk was giving attitude for no reason after asking simple questions.
Excellent facilityWell equipped and clean
I think it is managed better than most other location keep up the good work god bless
Nice place and huge pool, lots to do.
Clean, spacious, fun, energizing, excellent group fitness and yoga studio
Clean gym, friendly staff.Only downside is that the classes are a bit lack luster except for the cycling classes.
Absolutely amazing service. Our concierge anthony ricci was absolutely an awesome guy. Were hooked. Going to be signed up within a week or 2.
I love going to Lifetime but there are never enough machines/benches/free weights to get in and finish a complete workout on a timely basis. There are usually enough treadmills available to get in a run, but if youre looking for an elliptical machine or stair stepper, make sure you stay nimble and jump on one the minute you see someone starting to get off. The classes are good but capacity is always an issue and many times you can get locked out. The swimming pool, and hot tubs usually have a lot of room but the dry sauna does get crowded. If you feel a need to hit the smoothie bar, be careful. Everything Ive eaten there has tasted great....but it comes with a price.
I have been a member for over a year now, and I ♥️ Lifetime! This location is my FAVORITE. The staff and other members are so friendly and helpful. Club is very clean. Locker rooms are also very clean and always stocked. Plenty of room and equipment for everyone! Great place to take the kids to swim or rock climb! They are always having FUN themed events for kids. I have read other reviews that have said they have got harassed to join personal training, or to purchase things - I can honestly say this has never been the case for me. The Staff is there if you need them, but they let you do your thing. GREAT GYM!
I drive all the way from Warren to come here because the cycling instructors are nice and care about their clients.
I finally returned to my gym after a long time away due to pandemic. They have all of the measures in place to make you feel safe. From hand sanitizer to sanitizing solution for wiping down equipment to masks available for those that forget him. The hardest part is getting some people to wear masks (as their politics/beliefs are different), but LTF staff does a fantastic job enforcing the state mandate. We all have one goal in mind to accomplish, getting back to normal. Kudos to LTF Rochester in working to do so and keep the members informed.Special hats off to Stephen (Sales Manager), and Caitlan (Member Services Manager) for making my return to the club a successful one.
Lifetime is the best gymIn Rochester and really metro Detroit in general.
Very professional very classy definitely will recommend this place to everyone not so happy with the hours being cut due to covid-19, but I do appreciate the efforts they make to keep everyone safe
There’s a Asian supervisor that is very rude and does not know how to treat a lifetime member of 19 years. I felt disrespected by him, also felt like he had something against me the way he talked to me. If this is how you guys treat your members, It really says something about the business. Don’t recommend ever coming here
Horrible experience when you want to cancel your membership. I felt the longer I stayed on the phone trying to cancel the lesser amount I was getting as a refund. We all paid 100% of the membership fees back in March and gym closed down on 3/16/20. We also had paid for a swim class ($65) in March that was credited for half but when I called to get a refund that portion magically disappeared so was only given a credit of $54 for the gym portion. What a joke! I am not returning to LT even after COVID. Plenty other gyms to choose from and good luck staying in business.
A gym you will want to go to with the family
Love the fitness classes & yoga!
Great facility for exercise.
Great staff and facility!
The best massage you will ever get is here with Karl. He is amazing and very knowledgeable!!
Excellent place that makes you feel safe when the whole world is unsafe.
Still closes at 11 pm and pool close at 10
Doing a wonderful job complying with reopening specifications. Only the outdoor pools open. Feel quite safe after seeing all their efforts.
Best Lifetime in Detroit Metro area!Awesome youth and adult martial arts program teaching traditional Karate.Parking is a little tough during rush hours; but plenty of parking spaces - park far out and walk in.
This review is for the Lifetime Fitness Spa - specifically the hair salon part. Over the years Ive gone here on and off and regretted the off times. You can rely on them for good results. Ive seen different stylists over the years and am currently with Abby. Shes great! The prices are reasonable and actually really good when you consider you arent taking a gamble - youll leave with good looking hair that looks professionally done.
Love this place! Highly recommend picking up a membership.
Expensive, but very nice, especially for families. They have basketball courts, great tennis courts and a nice little area with food. The place is huge!
Great customer service today from Anthony
Lifetime is the nicest Gym outside of The MAC in East Lansing which has a cold plunge (Lifetime needs to add one)! Lifetime has the absolute beat Tennis Professionals! Also I don’t go anywhere besides Lifetime for massages because they are absolute professionals many other places nearby do not do a good job..
Very clean. Very attentive staff. Love this place
Clean nice
One of the reasons why we like LifeTime is that we can put the kids in daycare while we workout. I have been a member at LT for 11 to 12 years. Now that I have kids, it makes perfect sense to remain a member and use the perk. However, the more I used the daycare, the more uncomfortable my 3 year old was with it where now we find her crying her eyes out when we pick her up. She no longer likes to go there and we no longer are able to use the facility. My wife has asked the staff members multiple times but received little to no attention. Except for a couple of the employees, the rest are either very rude or very careless. My daughter tries hard to tell us what happened but still early for her to express properly.I dont know where to go from here because if feels like complaining again will fall on deaf ears. I dont feel LT cares. They are making their money. One membership will not make a difference.
Love it here! Im so glad theyve changed their hours so they can prepare the gym for the morning rush. Between midnight and 4am is perfectly understandable to be closed. I get so much more beyond the option to work out after midnight, sounds depressing to me.
This place is literally 1 of the main reasons I live in Rochester hills. Always clean, spacious, professional staff,etc... great equipment too.
What Lifetime lacks in affordability it has always made up for in availability. This is sadly no longer the case with new 4am-12am hours. I, as well as a handful of other members, have consistently worked out in the late night/ early morning hours for the better part of 4 years. Its more peaceful, no lines for machines, no kids running around...you get where Im going. This, however is no longer an option. With membership fees most people wouldnt dare pay... some of us bite the bullet so to speak, mainly because of the clean environment, friendly staff, and most importantly 24 hour access. I can assure you that during the hours of 12am-4am, cleaning certainly does occur, but not to the point where members should be denied access. With fluctuating work schedules it was never a worry whether one could make it to the gym before closing. I have literally not been able to make it to the gym at all since this change. It truly is a shame theyve ruined such a good thing. For $84/a month I dont see the incentive for staying on as a member.
I definitely dont recommend the kids camp to other parents. The person in charge is nice but the other staff are mean and the kids spend most of their time hanging around in the gym doing nothing, its also quite pricy. There is definitely a better way to spend your money.
Horrible childhood center free tennis class for kids, it’s a way to attract you to buy their membership! We booked the class (membership benefits) but they did not take it and still say if you like you have to buy paid class!!! Damn....she’s a supervisor with blue color hair!!! Be attention when sales tell you how wonderful their kids classes ....
Perfect,highly recommended
Cleanest fitness facility around.
This location is amazing and beats the other locations ! They provide everything pretty much accept for a tooth brush and have a free pass available on Facebook that anyone should give a try ! Nolan Check is the best and is the reason I was able to get a great membership! I go at least 3 times a week and love the pool side available outdoors!
Waste of time and money dealing with this company. Save yourself the headache and find a down to earth club that offers value free from too many pompous wealthy members and a company that doesnt have shady fine print at a ridiculous cost!Avoid them and youll save integrity, time, and money.
They continue to raise the membership fee. I’m not sure how many people are using the amenities like the razor, cotton or hair spray but I don’t need them.I want them to provide their programs to avoid rush hour (like 5:00-6:00pm). Also, they should hold their popular programs at the gym more often because the studio is too small for the number of the attendees.
Very good place to go out for many activities with family and friends. It got tennis courts, swimming pools for both kids and young people, gym with all machines and amminities. Staff is very friendly and helping. Neat and clean, fresh towels for pool and gym. There is a dedicated kids playing area, closed; with caretaker staff and you can let kids playing and enjoying here while you got engaged in workout. Basketball courts, cafeteria/ food court is also available.Yes, and a huge parking space.I personally found this club bit on costlier side considering when all your family members are joining. For individual member charges are justified but not for family or groups.Havent used tennis courts or squash so cant comment on that. Also Im not sure if theres squash rooms. Hope this would help you planing your work. Happy sweating.
I was on the family plan at Lifetime Fitness for years. I have to say that this place has its faults. Snooty staff, snootier guests, lousy music. However, the entire establishment has its place and market that it serves well.If youre a white-collar businessman looking for a place to blow off steam after work so that you dont have to go home, get sauced, and smack your kids, then Lifetime is certainly the place for you. Its open 24 hours (have to ring the doorbell to get let in late at night), has a pool and other amenities satisfactory for upper-middle-class guests, and is designed to cater to wealthy professionals, ultimately.Granted, these are all the things that I hated about the place. If youre a student or someone who doesnt want to shell out ridiculous amounts of money for mediocre service with a fancy face, then look elsewhere. Once I was taken off the family membership due to age, I considered getting my own membership. Lifetime told me they wanted $89 for an initiation fee and would not budge on the issue, despite my insistence that Id been a member for years and should not have to pay a fee, especially when all my paperwork was still valid. Finally, I decided to leave Lifetime for good and attend another fitness club nearby. Ive never looked back.Your mileage may vary.
Expensive, but very nice, especially for families. They have basketball courts, great tennis courts and a nice little area with food. The place is huge!
The yoga is the same each class. It’s expensive to be a member but it’s kept up well. The staff is average.
LTA Rochester Hills is always so clean, friendly & welcoming!
Very good studio with great staff, my personal training with Jake was exactly what I wished for: good instructions, nice talk and no pushing to take extra costy courses! We also bring the kids along for basketball, climbing or swimming sessions very frequently. Prices are high but reasonable for the service you get!
Its a great gym. I never had any service issues. I highly recommend this place. The swimming pools are worth the entire membership.
I dont know how it is now but figured give my review. Good experience. A personal trainer Justin was social, didnt push for me to purchase sessions and we just chatted back and forth. Just the way it should be.Checked my progress just for fun, talk about working out and golf.
The place is great except for Tim. Tim is a staff member at the front door. He was rude to me on my second visit to Life Time. Harassed me while I was trying to wrangle my two toddler kids. He couldnt care less. If it wasnt for Tim this would be a 5/5 score. Tim needs soft skills classes.
Jamie Lining is the guy you want to ask for. Whatever youre paying him, its not enough. Give this guy a well deserved raise. He treats you like family, and goes out of his way to seek out any discounts the club is currently offering to lighten the burden on your wallet, and if you have any problems he takes it on himself, as an employee, to keep up the good name of a privatized company that probably isnt even aware of the effort he puts in to make you a satisfied customer. Seriously, promote this guy to CEO. Cant say any better words about him.The club itself is pricey, but it has all the bells and whistles you could dream of in a fitness center. Clean facilities, beautiful jacuzzi, steam sauna, regular sauna, equipment for every cardio and body building routine you can think of. If you join and you dont see improvement in your health, youre doing something wrong.Only complaint is that the dudes in the mens locker room love showing off their private parts in a grandiose fashion, towels in hand. Please, wear the towel. Other than that, A+ place.
They keep doing what they call remodeling which leads to cutting down on the number of resistance machines. they have. Over the last couple years theyve downsized the number of machines so they can make room for areas used by trainers and their clients. As a result you end up waiting and waiting to be able to use equipment. Definitely not worth the $61 per month.
This place has absolutely terrible customer service. I have tried cancelling my membership there several times in July in September and again today! and they continue charging my account.. this month for $320 and raised my rates without informing me! Tried to figure out the problem and cancel and get a refund for the money they took out of my account with being authorized and the manager was extremely rude to me!!! They told me when I signed up that this account was month to month it is not!!!! I had several people I referred there and have told them all how poorly I have been treated!! All this place cares about is money!! Not the client all the money!! Will never refer anyone here again! They should me ashamed to treat their customers this way!
Just got yet another increase in monthly fees. Started out at 60/month now at 75. $75!!! Email said dont fret new members pay 8 dollars more a month. Small consolation. Maybe they should spend less on upgrades, murals and equipment and give their loyal customers a reduction, not increase.
So I absolutely love this gym and have been going here for years but effective August 1, 2018 they are now closing from midnight to 4am...rating this gym 3 stars because of the hours change otherwise I would give it 5. I guess, unfortunately, I have to find a new gym on my way home. :(
I leave for a year for work overseas and come back to all the really good personal trainers gone that I use to work with and talk to. There are still some good ones like Michael and Jeff but the rest are really rude and have no education on fitness. They just want your money. No care for the members, only want your money.
I love, love, love Lifetime! Ive been a member for almost two years and never had a bad experience. I have never seen rude or snooty behavior from members or staff -- on the contrary, everyone has gone out of their way to be friendly and helpful. I am by no means a fancy, well-dressed or fashion-conscious person, but I have never felt out of place there. Yes, its expensive. The beautiful facility, high-quality machines, steam rooms, towels, shampoo, plentiful classes, 24-hour access, all of that costs money, and who should pay for it if not the people who use it? I am at Lifetime almost every single day. If it werent as awesome as it is, I would not go no matter what I was paying for it. A gym that makes me want to go is totally worth it.
I absolutely LOVE this place. It is like a resort in itself. You have everything under one roof - gym, basketball, tennis, swimming, rock climbing, yoga, bicycling studio, Spa, hair salon, healthy food, free high speed wifi. One can literally spend hours at this place. They also have really awesome classes - I like AMP Bicycle and Cycle Sculpt. Try to get one of these before your workout and you will not need to spend hours at the treadmill to get through your cardio. I find this incredibly refreshing. In addition, they have dry and wet sauna, showers, and fresh towels. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, shaving cream, and hair styling gel are complimentary. If you are into serious fitness, there is no place like this. People say it is expensive - but try to divide the monthly payment with the total number of days in the month you workout. If you are regular, it roughly comes down to the price of a coffee from Starbucks per day. Such a small amount for your health and wellness!I am yet to take my orientation course. I believe, it should be a lot of fun!!
The TV reception over the past couple of weeks has gotten bad. Ive tried 2 different headsets and cant get ESPN or FOX well at all during workouts. Before this time, when it stormed and the Direct TV went out, I had no problems. It seems as though the signal strength has gotten worse. I wish they would fix this.
Been going here for years. They increased the membership price while simultaneously reducing hours. No longer 24/7? What am I paying extra for? Last time I was here I was told to finish my set and leave because they are closed. Nothing justifies this price now. Also the water from the fountains taste like they come from a river. Seriously disgusting.
Getting a bit crowded these days. Enjoy swimming & rock climbing is fun!
Beautiful Gym. Always clean. Friendly staff. Unfortunately it is HEAVILY overpriced, even more so when they start cutting the 24 hour availability. Not the biggest issue to close at midnight, but everyone knows closing at midnight also means closing off some areas(especially spa) even earlier in order to make sure everyone is gone BY midnight. Taking away the 24 hour benefit and not specifically giving something new and/or not lowering the monthly fee is not a great long-term business model, but this is just one persons opinion.
I visit Michigan often, every time I come to this location I get ridiculed by the front desk for not having my card. I’m a visitor from out of state, you’d think they would be more forgiving and understanding. Instead I got pushed to the side and had to wait for 10 others to get checked on in. Then the old lady at the front continued to complain about me to the guest who came after me. Gyms should be a more welcoming environment with a more positive, kind approach to a Diamond Member.
Great service, great equipment best facilities, great food, etc
Sorry, but being good to people is an expected component of business. And, if you have locker rooms that are this littered, then those are more points against you. Ive tried several times to enjoy it, but despite the large space, this gym is not for me.
The facilities are nice, BUT: Regardless of what the salesperson says, you pay for tennis at all times, you pay for rock climb for any day out of Tue/Thur/Sat, pool slides are only open once a week, on Sunday afternoons, open swim is over 8pm and kids club at 8:30 mon-fri. All those things they fail to mention while getting you all hyped up to sign. Its currently $151 and $225 to sign up with $25 extra for additional person on this sign up fee. Other than those (which, had they been honest, Id still have signed up and not felt tricked), personnel and patrons are very nice and the service is awesome.
Rude staff and very stuck up people . Be nice to your guest
Amazing facility!
Lifetime is nice because of all of the amenities, you can get it in a wide range of workouts and treatments. Sometimes it can get crowded but because of the number of options that is somewhat contained. The staff is really nice at this location.
Change of opinion. The equipment is fine and there is a lot of it. However, their customer service is horrible. They automatically charged me for a Lifetime Magazine that I never ordered nor wanted then have since refused to refund me the money. If you plan to sign up tell them right away you dont want their magazine so you arent charged months into your membership. Will be changing gyms.
Its great minus the obnoxious kids who dont get out of your lane in the lap pools (where kids shouldnt be aloud anyway) and the constant calls about joining a personal training class every 5 days. I love the workout equipment and free group classes, but really everytime Im in the lower deck lap pool trying to workout all these moms come sit at the end of the pool and watch their kids fool around where others are trying to workout. The lifeguards attempt to tell them to move but either dont follow through or get yelled at by the loudmouth moms yell at them and they give up. Either way there should be a sign up or something there are 3 other pools for children to play with each other and splash around but leave the nice lap pools to the people who use them for what they are and stop the calls for training I just want to use the treadmill and weights and do the occasional yoga class not go crazy.
Thank you for hosting the Spartan Race workout! The staff was top notch! Facilities are clean and well organized! One of the best places to work out!
