Thankful doesnt begin to cut it. After getting a $200 2.5 hour Deva Curl cut from another place, I am so relieved to know I can pay 80% less to a wonderful and knowledgeable stylist for a haircut that only takes 35 minutes, with even better and longer lasting results!!! (Im writing this a little over 2 weeks since my cut)Even if you arent good at explaining the look you are thinking youd want, or have an example that you want to model your cut after, just talk to Serena. She listens to what you are saying, feels your vibe/energy, and applies her expertise to give you the look youve always wanted.Definitely trust her. I did, and she did something Ive never done before, giving me a handful of curl bangs days before my first trip being a bridesmaid (big risk!)Having a few bangs was a look Ive always liked but never thought I could rock, but man, she made it possible!! Confidence boost, affordable cut, and trustworthy/experienced lady. I wont go to anyone else!!
Serena is the absolute best at what she does and is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I know. I have tightly wavy/loosely curly hair with a few different curl patterns going on and she always makes them blend together so beautifully. I always get the New York Dry cut and she cuts curl by curl. It turns out perfect every time. She has a great vision; providing honest recommendations any time youre being indecisive. She loves that I wear my hair in its natural state and always passes compliments!
Serena is an amazing hairstylist. I have gone to so many different salons to try and get the right color brown and it always turns quickly to a brassy color. Serena is the only person in the Triangle that can get my hair to the exact color that I want. She also did an ombre for me previously and Ive never had so many people stop me and ask where I got my color done. Her dry waterfall cut is also amazing. Definitely the best in the area by far.
Ive been to The Beauty Lounge twice now for myself, and once with my young daughter. The first time I went was because I had purchased their keratin treatment online deal. The keratin treatment that Serena uses is far better than the others Ive had in the past. My eyes didnt sting, and the smell was great. After straightening, Serena did a perfect Vera Wang cut on me. I do have to say it was the best cut Id had in years! My hair was extremely long, and sylists in the area had always felt the need to cut layers into it, and do something creative. It never really worked out, and it made me want to go back to New York just for haircuts! Serena understood and did just what my hair needed, sculpting a perfect line in the back and a precision angle in the front.I recently went back for my second visit and Serena cut 10 inches off for donation to Locks of Love. I hadnt had my hair cut that short in years and was nervous about it, but Serena made it so easy, and the cut, again, was perfection!Serena really takes a lot of time with each client, so if you have to wait a little while to be taken care of, just know that she will spend extra time with you just as she had done for the client before you.The Beauty Lounge is truly a hidden gem.
I absolutely love my haircut and Serena! I was way overdue for a haircut and my ends were split pretty badly. My hair was also super dry so I was not giving her a lot to work with going into it. I was extremely impressed with how much length she was able to keep while leaving my hair so healthy looking. I can easily style it in the mornings -It looks good both natural and straightened. I WILL be returning to get my hair dyed and cut again. She was wonderful at making conversation and I thought the overall experience was great. Cute little salon, good haircut, convenient location. 5 Stars :)
Who else has noticed that all the hair looks the same in this town? Well, you can stop complaining that you cant get a fabulous big city haircut in this town. I am the first to admit that I am a tad spoiled having grown up in a family who is in the hair industry. Regardless, who doesnt want a hot cut? If you are looking for something fresh, then you must meet Serena at The Beauty Lounge of Five Points. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel at home and totally cozy. You wont find any attitudes in this place just a warm welcome and a ton of knowledge and experience. An amazing listener, Serena takes great care with her consultation. The dry cut technique she performs is not just hype. Its the real deal. Simply put, I walked out of The Beauty Lounge with an amazing cut that is pure sophistication with a modern edge. What a refreshing experience!
Serena is very knowledgeable about products & the chemistry involved. Very up to date on hair styling & coloring. I sought out this salon because of the use of organic products & an all natural developer. She only uses the top quality products and my hair looked very natural. It was very different from previous salons where the hair color was so full of chemicals that it took my breath away and burned my scalp. Organic/natural is the way for me! BTW, Serena is very hospitable and friendly as well.
Ive always had trouble finding someone to cut my long ultra thick wavy hair, but Serena is magical with the scissors on my hair. Not only does she do a great job, but my hair cut weeks longer. She designs my hair so that it can continue to grow and look great without needing a trim every 4 weeks. Ive even moved to Indiana within the year, but I am sure to stop by and see Serena whenever Im back in the Raleigh/Durham area!!
Love the dry hair cut! It always looks great when I leave and stays looking great until I come back! Serina is very knowledgeable about the field and always has great information about how to best care for and style my super fine hair! Shes great and I will most definitely be back!
Serena is an AMAZINGLY TALENTED stylist and Im so fortunate to have found her after painfully searching the Raleigh area for over 10 years. I just received her innovative Waterfall cut using the NY Dry Cutting method and I absolutely LOVE IT. I had actually forgotten what it felt like to have a PROFESSIONAL haircut and just how incredible it makes you look and feel. Ive already booked my next appointment with her and Im really excited to receive the red coloring she has suggested using the organic hair coloring products. Wow, I still cant believe that I actually have a hair STYLE - especially one that I look forward to doing each and every morning. Thank you so much Serena - YOU ARE THE BEST!
Serena is an artist. She took the time to talk through my vision for my hair style and then proceeded to design the first haircut that Ive been happy with in YEARS. Im the type of person who normally uses groupons and bounces around salons, but Serenas cheerful attitude and unique style has made me want to stay for good. Shes also above and beyond in customer service. When I got hit on my bicycle, I had to cancel my appointment. She checked on me later that night and sent encouraging words. I highly recommend Serena and the Beauty Lounge!
Pretty much worst nail experience ever. a MANICURE took over TWO hours. and that was only because someone came and helped the nail tech. It was completely unsanitary. It was the gel manicure- it is supposed to last two weeks, mine started coming off that night. I need to have it taken off- but you couldnt pay me to go back there. Not to mention the gel is uneven, and messy looking, it is all over my cuticle beds and is just sloppy. They did not even massage your hands at all with lotion and I had to ask them to clean under my nails. Additionally, the nail tech, while nice, generally made me feel very uncomfortable and his techniques on trimming your cuticles, and removing excess skin were extremely painful. The salon owner is super nice and friendly, but it does not make up for the horrid experience or lack of sanitary measures. Finally, they do not have the proper resources to complete the tasks they promote (not enough nail techs, not many colors to choose from, no proper hand bath, their lighting they had to bring a lamp from the back and plug it in, etc, etc). This salon has a long way to go.
Who knew my hair could look THIS amazing? When she turned me around to see in the mirror, I was like Wow! WOMAN! What kind of MAGIC do you WEAVE?!? Five stars for her relaxed and thorough consult in a dreamy Paris style atmosphere, that led to the finest keratin, color and cut Ive ever had. Im impressed. Period.
I have crazy curly hair. I had a New York Dry Cut (having had the Aveda signature cut for years) and color done and I could not have been happier!!! Not only did I have a great time while I was there but my hair has never looked better :)Serena took the time with me to make sure I was going to end up with a style/color that I love and that I can maintain. I would recommend the Beauty Lounge to friends, co-workers, anyone really.
Finally loving my curly hair again! What a relief to finally find a stylist that knows curls in this cookie cutter town.I even get compliments on 2nd day hair!
I purchased 2 deals for the Shellac manicure. The first visit was good and both Ian & Serena were very nice, however I had an issue with the quality of the work. Ian did a good job on my shellac, until it got to the top coat. He was very stingy with the top coat and the majority of my nails were very dull and maybe 2 were shiny. I called to let them know of the problem and Serena set up a time for me to come back only for no one to be at the shop. Ian then showed up about 5 mins after sitting there which I wasnt super upset about because I understand things like that happen. The reason for my low rating is because my second trip, the EXACT same thing happened. I get home and 6 of my nails are dull and look horrible. I didnt bother calling or going back because 1) Its totally inconvenient for me to drive to their location and 2) it seems like this is something consistent that happens especially if its happened to me on two different occasions with my visits being far apart. I hope the salon does will with their business but unfortunately I wont be able to support them.Good Luck!!
Terrible service.First appointment - after waiting 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time I finally got seated for my appointment for a gel manicure. The seating at nail bar is very awkward and uncomfortable. My nails looked great however the gel polish starting peeling off within 4 days. I followed up with the owner and she offered to redo them complimentary. This time the gel polish lasted two weeks however the polish choice I picked on the display was not the color that I got. The color selection is very slim. Third visit - I purchased another Living Social deal to give Serena and the Beauty Lounge another opportunity. I scheduled my appointment at 1:30 and allowed for an hour and a half before I needed to leave for an interview. When making the appointment I noted that I needed to leave by 3pm. I arrived early and once again we Serena got started late. The manicure portion was terrible. She barely cleaned up my cuticles and the polish was not setting on my nails and after a hour I started to get nervous and voiced my concern. I asked if she could just paint them without the gel so that I could leave which she did poorly. I agreed to come back the following day to fix the problem. There was an ice storm the following day and Serena decided to cancel the salon so my appointment was automatically cancelled. I rescheduled for the following Tuesday - this is the next day she would be open. I got a call from Serena 15 minutes before my appointment to tell me she couldnt open the salon due to ice. What a joke - the ice was gone by Sunday. So today I set another appointment at 6pm and I even followed up with two text messages to the owner to make sure she would be able to do it at this day and time. She confirmed by text. I arrived today at 5:50 and the door was locked. I waited outside until 6:20 and Serena never showed up for my scheduled appointment. I called and texted and it is now 7pm and she still has not responded. I have been very kind and patient with Serena and the salon because i like to support small local businesses but clearly she does not respect her clients time. I will not go back.
I showed up for my scheduled appointment and the studio was closed and empty. No one bothered to call and notify me. I booked this appointment 3 weeks ago.
Serena took the time to find out what I wanted my hair to look like and was not satisfied until my color was exactly what we agreed upon. I will be interested to see what my hair looks like with the rock star haircut after I give my hair some time to grow and have Serena fine tune it. I love the highlight technique she used giving me highlights straight to my hairline. I gave 4 stars because I was disappointed that my appt ran long and she had a hair show to go to so I did not get a blow out. Always love having my naturally wavy hair straightened so it lasts a few days. She did offer to give me a blow out the following week but with 2 small kids and spending time at the salon the day of my appt it just is not convenient for me to get away again.
I was not happy with my recent New York Dry Cut but did not plan to write a review. That is, until the salon, through its online vendor, requested a review from me. Then when I wrote it, it kept rejecting it (maybe because it was for 1 star??) My experience - at the salon the cut appeared to be ok, but it turned out that my initial impression was due to a combination of the product put into my hair and the bad lighting at the salon. I have very thick, wavy hair, and the layers do not blend at all. Its so obvious even my friends HUSBAND noticed that night that there was something wrong with my hair. I should have heeded the many reviews I had seen online. There were customer services issues as well, but I would have overlooked them if I had received a great cut.
Serina is very knowledgeable about hair and she uses the best hair products.
Manicure took 2 hours. Cut my finger. Tech told me about his sex life the entire time.
The Beauty Lounge is truly a hidden gem.
