Exclusively going to hairstylists my entire life, I have only recently discovered the real difference between a stylist and a fine barber - precision. A smart looking cut that will still look fresh three weeks later. Someone who is also attentive, personable and reasonably priced. All of these you will find at Westover Barber Shop. Will Summerlin gives top notch service and his shop is loaded with trinkets from the past to keep you entertained while you wait. The shop is decked out with a trio of century-old chairs complete with filigree steel. There are no appointments, its first come, first served. However the joint is relaxing enough, sporting that old time flair, and will make you forget the hectic Hillsborough street traffic that awaits just outside the door. He cleans it up with a complimentary neck shave as well. Hands down the best hair experience of my life. I should have discovered this earlier.

Will is a great barber! I have been going to him for over 18 years now. He takes his time to get the cut just right. Finishes off with a straight razor neck shave for the cleanest of lines.

I dont usually write reviews, but my experience has compelled me... I do not understand how this place has 5 stars. The barbers hands were so unsteady I should have known to just go somewhere else. I could feel his hands with the shears and scissors lightly tapping the side of my head from the shake in his hands. He managed to cut my ear not once but twice! He stopped and said Youre bleeding! and Was that because of me? and Are you a bleeder??... It was surreal. After the second time he cut my ear I had to stop and ask him if he was ok and why his hands were so shaky. He had the gall to tell me that his hands werent shaking and asked me if I wanted him to stop the haircut. I should have walked out right then, but I guess for the sake of the formality/politeness (not to mention I only had HALF of a haircut) I continued. He finished and asked me how it looked, I just said fine and got out of there. He charged me full price...... I left the shop, and immediately drove to another barber, where I paid $24 to have her fix the cut that Westover Barber Shop gave me.This is the list of mistakes the Westover Barber made during a SINGLE haircut.-Instead of squaring the back, he rounded it and left it longer on the right.-My bangs were 2 times longer than the rest of my hair and were crooked.-The hair around my ear was not cut properly and hung over them.-My sideburns were uneven in length.-The hair on the back of my head was uneven-The front 2/3 of my head had longer hair than the back 1/3-He left this weird patch completely uncut and sticking up in the back!It sounds absurd to even say this, but I dont think this guy can can safely cut hair with the shaking I saw today. I dont know if he was sick, or what was going on. He was so unsteady that he made me nervous, and then ended up cutting me (Needing styptic powder both times to stop the bleeding). I would not EVER recommend this place to someone. Maybe in the past he was better? Or is there another barber at that location that is good? Ultimately, I had to spend an additional $24 to fix a $17 haircut. Its honestly insulting.0/10 The Actual Haircut Of My Nightmares

Starting to explore my new neighborhood and this is the first stop. A true barber shop is not an easy find any more and that’s exactly what this place is. Razor shave the neck andasks if you want to block or taper the back. Reminds me of my Navy barbershops.
