I don’t often post reviews but the level of service and commitment Newcomb and Company demonstrated in repairing our a/c system and standing behind their work is to be commended in these times where service and integrity seems to be in such short supply. I cannot give a higher recommendation for an HVAC contractor than this. They earn their business and they have a customer forever in me.

Newcomb came out today for our annual maintenance visit on our a/c. We signed up for a service contract for the first time ever this year. Jonathan did a great job and was very polite and professional. He had booties for his shoes to protect our flooring and carpet, didnt walk through the house with his bucket even though it would have been easier, and even took the initiative to clean off my siding from the grass the landscapers blew on it this morning when he saw it!P.S. Would love to always have him come out and do the service if possible.

I had been a fan of this company until I needed emergency a/c service. Paid good money for a service contract annually since 2008. Last night I noticed a/c not cooling. Called emergency line & lady asked “so you want someone to come out tonight?” Next call from technician who was very nice. I opted for him not to drive 45 min & would wait until morning, since I had 2 fans. He said “someone will call you between 7:30a-8a to tell you when technician coming. You pick a time you need them there.” In morning I called to check since I hadn’t heard from anyone. Yep, not one note about my problem and response was “someone will come sometime today.” (Since they were “adding me just then to their already busy schedule.)” Another reason I’m very disappointed is I had annual service on unit 2 weeks ago & tech commented then that “ line was not sweating” and didn’t do anything about it at the time. “we’ll just watch it.”Really saddened to have to write this review. And so disappointed this company has such a poor communication problem. I will add more info when this is rectified, hopefully today.UPDATE: spoke to Supervisor & tech was at my house in a very timely manner. Did good job of fixing a/c. Appreciate they adjusted their schedule.

I thought the service was exceptional. Our A/C wasn’t working on a Sunday night so we called Newcomb. They came out the next day and fixed it. The technician (Keith) discovered a large blockage in our pipe and stayed extra time to clear it out and make sure everything was working normally. I was really impressed with the quality of service and the way he explained the problem. I would highly recommend Newcomb to any future customer.

I had been doing business with Newcomb for 33 years. I bought all my AC / Heating units from them and had a yearly contract for inspection twice a year. Last Dec 19, 2018 ?, i found that half of my down stairs was warm and the other half was cold. I knew what had happened, one of the trunk lines had come off the distribution box. I called service explaining the problem, the service call person did not understand ???? They sent a service person the next day, upon inspection inform me that my distribution box was disintegrating and the trunk line could not be hooked back up. I would have to make an appointment with the sales dept to schedule an estimate to replace my duct work. It is Dec 19th!!!!I was so angry that they did not even try to to band-Aid the system to get me through Christmas. If they had I probable would have bought the new duck work thinking they were taking care of a 33 year customer.I called a friend that night that is in the Heat & AC business and explained the situation. He was there the next day, connected a new 4 ft trunk line to my distribution box and said the box was fine!!! Charged my $0, Newcomb charged me $85 for what?Here it is 7/31/19 all is well with my system.I hope they service you better than they did me!!!!!

Ive had a few HVAC service providers over the past 10 years. Newcomb & Company has the most professionally trained technicians BY FAR, both in etiquette and in knowledge of equipment. They diagnose issues quickly, make suggested repairs and work to find cost-saving solutions. They change the filters as part of their maintenance plans, which saves me a lot of time! They also make an effort to get here ASAP when necessary. The guys are always professional!

We love Newcomb, and have used them for all our plumbing and HVAC issues here in Raleigh. All of their employees have been excellent, but we always feel especially lucky when Linwood the plumber comes to take care of our service call. This past Sunday we discovered a nasty leak under our kitchen sink. Linwood was at our home within 30 minutes, and had the leak fixed 10 minutes later. Thank you, Newcomb and Linwood!

We have been Newcomb inspection and maintenance clients since 2011. This year we decided - with their help - to upgrade our home heating and cooling. It’s been about a month and a half since the Newcomb team finished installing our new systems. I’d like to compliment the team at Newcomb. They did a great job. Everyone we have ever dealt with at Newcomb has been professional, polite and knowledgeable. All is well here and it’s great being comfortable whether it’s hot or cold outside. The new systems perform far better than our old ones.

Newcomb & Company are the only ones I call. I replaced a unit in 2013 when Newcomb came in almost 2k lower than the rest for a new upstairs unit. I did not hesitate this year when my downstairs unit finally quit. Dont waste your time calling the others. They are trained to sell you services and equipment you dont need. Save yourself time and money. Give Mike Cox a call and he will definitely get you back to living in comfort as quickly as possible.

Hi,Linwood Mosly was the Newcomb serviceman that came to my house. He was right on time and provided excellent service. I am considering replacing some of my toilets and Linwood took stock of the three toilets and advised me on estimated installation costs and also some other details and advice on what to order, etc. He also took care of a minor problem I was having with one of the toilets. This company delayed 6 months in fixing my HVAC and promised a discount to convince us not to demand our deposit back during the inordinate delay. During installation, they then damaged our floors. I asked whether they were going to repair it or whether I needed to get a quote. I never got an answer to that question. Instead, they put me in collections for the full amount, ignoring the discount they had promised and the damage to the floors. Terrible.

I like Newcomb. They have generally done good by me, and they replaced both of my HVAC units in 2017. I am under a maintenance contract with them. When calling to schedule a heater check (which I pay for) I am told that the first available date is in the second week of January. Tell me how useful it is to have a maintenance visit scheduled nearly two months out, and AFTER the heating season is well underway. I get that this work is not prioritized, but this is ridiculous, and calls into question why I even paid for this (and why I will not do so again)

Newcomb did a drain repair on one of my bathroom sinks for the previous homeowner in order for us to close on the house. Eight months later, the drain is damaged in the exact same place. They will no honor this warranty. Less than a year for a repair means this company has to do shoddy work. They said it would be $139/hr for them to even come and determine if it was under warranty. I will never use this plumber and I caution anyone reading this to follow the same.

Showed up Thursday after waiting all day, finally after 4 we’re told they have to come back Friday because parts for the ac unit is frozen somehow in the middle of summer. We wait all day today Friday and call at 4:45pm to confirm they’re still coming out and are told yes. We received a voicemail after 6 saying they won’t come out until Monday now even though they do weekend appointments. The tech called us again and didn’t even have an excuse and said he won’t be here until Monday but he’s also the weekend tech. Very unprofessional and I highly DO NOT recommend them. We had another company (Yellow Dot) come out and inspect, then our compressor went out. Had to wait 4 days without AC while the new one was ordered. When the repair tech came out to install it, he found a coil leak that TWO other techs missed. We decided to replace the entire system. This other company told us it would be at least another week before they could do the job. We called Newcomb and they came out the next day to give us an estimate, needless to say we accepted it because it was lower ( even with the other guys taking $800 off). The estimator noticed how hot it was in the house, and that we had a baby in the house. He came out the next day with two window units to help ease the heat, installing one in my sons room. He then told us the new system would be put in 2 days after that....on a Saturday. I cant put into words the gratitude I have for these actions, and will hire Newcomb again in a heartbeat. Outstanding!

Not sure what theses guys are doing, but when you install a new unit and need to have it serviced more than 3 times in the year, that seems to be an issue...Now 12 months in and 4 service calls later they want to charge me over $100 to even look at it!!!!And to add insult to injury they want me to pay for labor on any covered warranty items...I absolutely do not recommend Newcomb and Company, they obviously do not know what they are doing

The plumbers came to our home within the arranged time window. They were polite and attentive to our issues and they immediately diagnosed the problems and finished the work promptly. We had an issue with banging pipes when the clothes washer was running and we also had a leaky bathroom faucet. They put padding/braces on the pipes and this solved the problem; it was not a serious issue as we suspected. My wife also noted that hot water did not come to our kitchen faucet unless we ran another faucet in a nearby bathroom. They immediately realized that the kitchen faucet had a low flow nozzle; the flow was too slow to kick on our tankless water heater. They double checked the work when finished. Every things was done as promptly as possible and my wife and I could not be more pleased. Finally the cost was quite reasonable.

Called Newcomb in the afternoon after heater went out. They sent out a Tech, Richard G., the same day to diagnose. He quickly diagnosed as a bad blower motor/circuit board. He spent the extra time researching the issue and was able to determine the part could be replaced under warranty. This is normally a $1500 repair but was able to do it for labor only for $250 total (including initial service call/diagnostics). Appreciate the promptness and professionalism of Richard and the quick and accurate repairs.

We had been experiencing a shortage of hot water. We called yesterday and asked for service. The Newcomb team arrived to today and in a matter of 15 minutes had identified the problem. Update: once my review was posted, my issue was promptly dealt with and heating fixed the same day. So I feel its fair to update from 1 star to 3. Thanks for addressing it.Were disappointed to have to leave a poor review, but we have a cold house and a sick toddler, and temps continue to drop, and we havent heard from Newcomb since a tech diagnosed a blower motor failed and had to be replaced last Thursday. We were told wed be squeezed in on Friday if possible, but that theyd call Friday either way. We have had to call for updates. They did not call or show on Friday. They did not call or show on Monday (yes, I know it was a holiday; it didnt keep the house any warmer). They did not call today. We have had to call and ask whats going on. Beyond such unprofessional communication, its hard for me to believe that a blower motor could not be obtained in a more timely fashion from somewhere local, knowing how cold it is and knowing we have a particularly vulnerable person at home. We still dont know if theyll get the part on time or when they might come install it. Going to buy space heaters for the downstairs unit because we cant use over half our house without putting our coats on. I would like to update this review if the company gets it together and gets our heat fixed, but as of now, not only can I not recommend them, I cannot let this go by without putting in a review. Its the only thing I have control over in this entire transaction.

Earlier this week, we noticed that our second AC unit had stopped working and was no longer cooling the second floor of our house. After reaching out to 3 companies in the area, Newcomb was the first to promptly respond. The person servicing our unit arrived within the agreed upon time window and was quick to start working on our issue. Though he discovered that our problem was with the unit contactor, he took the time explain why this was the issue and discussed additional ways to keep our unit running smoothly. I liked that he took the additional step to offer AC tips and tricks, especially for a fairly new homeowner. After this first positive experience, Newcomb will get my business for a quick winter heating tune-up later this fall.

I have had two excellent experiences with Newcomb and Company related to my HVAC system. We had a 17 year old system that needed to be replaced and received a few quotes before deciding to go with Newcomb. Our rep, Marcus, was knowledgeable, professional, and was always quick to respond to questions. The crew that did the install made sure to clean up after themselves and was very friendly. After the install there was an electrical issue with the new thermostats - they had a tech to my house within an hour and fixed it.Prior experience was over 3 years ago when our zoning system went. The sales rep showed me how to manually adjust our dampers vs installing a new zoning unit on a then 14 year old system, saving me $1000+.Great company and people.

I called to check why our humidity level is so high in our new house. Over the phone the receptionist told they will charge me $137 for the consult.They came, looked around and never touch the equipment or terrmostat and couldn’t find anything. They presented me with the bill for $474 dollars?!! I contacted another small privet AC company in Raleigh. They found several big problems in our AC equipment, repaired it in 1 hour and charged me $160. I will not recommend New Comb company .

We have been customers of Newcomb for over 10 years, at a time when they were not as well known, or actively advertising as they are now. Each year we have loyally purchased service contracts with them to have them maintain our units and avoid issues. Last year we needed two new units, and after shopping around, decided to stay with Newcomb for the new purchase and installation, even though they were not the best price. We had been happy with their service and thought that loyalty was more important than just price. Now we are having an issue with the thermastat on one of the units which is just one month out of warranty, and we have found that loyalty does not run both ways. They indicated they would charge us a $98.00 service fee (thats with the service contract, I cant imagine what it would be without) just to look at the thermastat and determine the problem. Dont be fooled folks, business is business and once a company gets large and doesnt need yours anymore there are no extensions or courtesies, even for the long time customer. Shop for price and dont expect any leeway, loyalty, or old school service. It doesnt exist at Newcomb.

We have had a service contract with Newcomb for a number of years. For routine service of our AC last summer it took 2 months to schedule-summer was almost over. The technician who came was surly and made snide comments about the fact that I was not at work.Today is Wednesday and we have been without heat since Saturday. We paid $149 for service to come on Saturday. They had to order the part. They are coming today but cannot give me a time window-will call 20-30 minutes ahead. They say the reason is that they have too many service calls to give me a time- Not to worry, after this they will have one less customer!

Technician Chris was finally able to solve a problem that Ive been having off and on with my furnace for nearly 3 years! Just when I was about to give up and buy an entirely new HVAC system, he saved the day by knowing exactly what he was doing and said he had seen that identical issue on the same model of furnace a few weeks prior. He was honest with me and said I didnt need a new system, just a very specific circuit board (so he saved me at least $5,000). Sure enough, they were able to get the part he needed within 24 hours, and it was installed the same day it arrived, and I havent had a single issue since. What a relief to finally have reliable heat after 5 different companies all failing. I will never use anyone else for furnace repair (should I ever need it again)! And when the time inevitably does come to get a new furnace, there is no doubt who I will be calling to install it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We have used Newcomb and Co for over a year now to maintain an aging HVAC system. Once in the middle of a heat wave, I called after midnight on a weekend, and someone was out early the next morning to fix the problem. Recently when the furnace finally failed, we decided to replace the whole unit and move it to a location much more accessible to the crawlspace access door. Within 3 days it was “out-with-the-old” and “in-with-the-new!” After working with Marcus to select an appropriate system, a fantastic team of plumbers, electricians, and HVAC experts made it happen. Nick and Grayson in particular, are to be commended for their hard work in getting it done on time. We were hesitant to make such a big change to the system, but now we have clear access to the unit and can easily reach it when necessary. Kudos to a fine team!

My wife called me and said the HVAC wasnt working. I called three reputable companies which had a backlog of a day to a few days for their service technicians. N&C told me they could dispatch someone in 20 minutes, so I went ahead with it. $103 for the diagnostics, catastrophically failed capacitor which damaged my contactor within the outdoor AC unit. The service tech replaced those components, then showed me how to clean the coils and a few other maintenance tips. He checked the refrigerant levels and did a quick leak detection inside the condenser coil, then recharged the system. It hasnt been recharged since we moved into the house 8 years ago so it was due. Its cooling well now, and some tips the service tech gave me will aid me in deciding when to pull the trigger on a new system (its 20 years old). At this point, I would recommend them based on my service tech experience and knowledge. I can not comment on the installers. They did mark up the components a bit, but its understandable as they have to make money as well.

Have been using Newcomb for years...they are honest and very reliable. Once again, my 12 yr. old system went down yesterday and today they were here within 5 hours of the service call. The tech. found the fault and had me up and running within 15 mins.....with no conversation about needing to replace my old unit......I call that...REAL SERVICE...replace an aged-failed part. Two days ago we were without heat as our 3 year old gas boiler furnace suddenly quit working. I called the man who installed it but his voice mail said he wasnt available. And he wasnt available yesterday morning. I was referred by my AC vendor to Newcomb and Co. doubting that a large company with mixed reviews would respond to a new customer who was without heat. The receptionists first words were, Youre without heat? Ill get someone out there as soon as I can! Wow! Three hours later Richard showed up, replaced an internal switch, cleaned up the boiler unit, and departed leaving me grateful for rapid response and comfortable heat in our house. Ned Yellig, MD
