I stopped by while on vacation to try on a watch that I hadnt seen in person before. I didnt get his name but the gentleman was patient with me while I looked at 3 versions of the watch and talked about them for a bit. I mentioned that I was conflicted and he suggested taking a few pictures of them so I could think over my options that evening. I came back the next day and a different person helped me but had recognized me from the day before and I tried on the watch again and decided to buy it. Doug was very nice and helpful. We talked about the brand and he seemed very knowledgeable and genuinely a fan of the watches he was selling. He even mentioned that he owned a different version of the same watch and how much he enjoyed it. I noticed the staff interact with a few other customers on both my visits and they seemed extremely nice and attentive. Every customer seemed extremely satisfied when they left the store myself included. This was my first experience buying from an authorized dealer and I truly hope they are all as wonderful as this one. I also wanted to mention one of the below comments about them being watch snobs, I honestly couldnt disagree more. I dont look like a watch person (blue hair) and there was no hesitation when it came to trying on the watches. Beyond even getting the watch it was just nice to chat with them for a bit.

Went in to get my speedmaster sized a touch tighter. very quick service.Very helpful! I had been to 2 other jewelers before going here. Just because i was out of town. One place i went to actually took my band apart and then gave it back to me in pieces. They were uncomfortable working on a omega.... after they rendered my watch unwearable, cool huh... These guys fixed me up literally within minutes and its a nice snug fit now. I will most definitely be back for further watch needs!

Swiss Time employee diagnosed the issue with my watch and had it fixed in less than 20 minutes. This was after I had taken it to the jeweler that I bought it from where they told me they would have to send it out for a cleaning for $215 and I would be without the watch for 8 weeks. Kudos to Swiss Time, I went there on a whim and got excellent service!!!

Im not really sure where prior negative reviews came from. I got fast, friendly service. They were able to open the (stripped) back of my beloved watch when nobody else I went to in the downtown area could. Whats more, they cleaned it beautifully, and the service overall was very inexpensive.Thank you for the excellent service and reuniting me with my favorite watch!

I have been a customer for many years, and have always had a good experience at Swiss Time ! I have purchased and have serviced many clocks and watches there. This is a small locally owned and operated family business, that has a long history of participating in the community and fundraisers. I find it necessary to say I am appalled by how mean spirited some of the reviews have been! Try kindness!

Gave me a fair quote to repair an antique pocket watch. Ended up selling it to them instead. And that was a fair price for both of us. Parking is tough in this part of Portland.

Been here twice to attempt to get a few watches serviced. Each time I have been treated poorly, if you havent bought your watch from them they simply do not care about you or want your business. If their goal was for me to never enter the store again they have succeeded.

There is an older woman at Swiss time who is breathtakingly arrogant. Took a Seiko in for a battery and gasket which had strong sentimental value to me and she mocked the watch as worthless. It was a memrorable and petty underestimation that has cost her thousands of dollars of my business. They simply don’t care. Why would you reward them?

Swiss Time is a totally wonderful watch store. They carry quality time pieces and the prices are reasonable. I just bought my second watch in ten years from them today and could not be more pleased with the watch and the experience. The first watch, a Tissot, still works perfectly, I just needed a more casual every day watch and bought a handsome Victorinox Swiss Army. They carry both dressier and more casual time pieces, all nicely displayed. The shop is woody and beautiful. Claude, a genuine Swiss watch maker and repair person, and Jill and their daughter Stephanie are such good folks. Jills rescue dog Leica is also a sweetheart. This is the only watch store for me in beautiful Portland, Maine.

Some of the worst service ever - TWICE!This is the second time Ive had terrible service here; enough is enough The first time I brought it in, I had to come in asking if it was ready a full month or so after I dropped it off. They said, oh, its been sitting here for awhile now... I gave them a pass this time because I was just happy to have my watch back and thought it was a fluke - things happen and I understand that, but unfortunately this apathetic and unprofessional attitude seems to be a consistent thing with this business.Having brought it in a second time, I explicitly requested they make a note that they give me a call when it was ready because I never received a call the first time around - a simple request; nothing special. They said of course, and I left reassured. FIVE WEEKS LATER - nothing. Not a word. I called them to check in, and was curtly told, well let you know when its ready, as if I was disturbing them. Another two weeks - nothing. Not a word. So I went in to check up on things. They seem surprised that I didnt hear anything yet, and started looking into it. I watched one of the employees, perhaps even the owner, rummage through some folders and then some paper work - an obvious sign that something was awry. A couple minutes later he finds my watch at the bottom of a box - NOT FIXED FOR SEVEN WEEKS! He asks another employee why it hadnt been fixed, the same gentleman I spoke to when I dropped it off the second time, and he apathetically said, I dont know, and went on with his other duties. The employee helping me looks into some more paperwork and says that the crystal was ordered but they never heard anything back from the distributor. AND SO THEY LEFT IT IN A BOX. What?! They tried once to get the part, didnt hear anything back, so did nothing else. How long would it have been sitting there if I had not come in?! Furthermore, they didnt even apologize, offer to expedite the service, offer be a discount, NOTHING!I receive a call a couple hours later saying that the distributor no longer makes the part for my watch, so Ill have to settle for a thinner, more fragile crystal. I have no choice, so I agree. Even at this call they dont apologize. I FINALLY get a call a little over a week later saying the watch is ready; still no apology. I come in to pick it up, and they dont even acknowledge that anything had happened - no apology, no offer of a discount, nothing. Unbelievable. Truly pride-less work and service.Unfortunately they seem to be the only watch game in town, so Ill have to look into some other service next time around. I dislike writing reviews, especially negative ones because they can damage business, especially small businesses, but theyve proven themselves to be so awful that I feel compelled to get the word out. They also have bizarre hours, are randomly closed and dont put a notice on their website that theyll be closed that day - so I actually physically went to the store two times to check in on the watch on the second occasion only to find them closed when it said they should be open online. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place if you can.

I do not often comment, but i have been very happy with the service at Swiss TIme, and when i read the negative comment, i just had to let everyone know that this was not my experience. On three recent visits,, for various repairs, the staff has been responsive and professional. I would shop there for all my time piece repairs and purchases.
