I was very happy with my experience at Portland General Motors. They were So friendly and professional. They were able to change my appointment day at the last minute for me and they were very communicative throughout every aspect of it. They did great work and even answered lots of random questions I had about my Audi after the services were complete. Would definitely recommend to anyone driving Audi or BMW
I took my BMW 135i into PMW and right from the jump they were very professional and eager to help me diagnose a vibration coming from the transmission. Niles, the shop owner was able to diagnose and break down for me exactly what needed to be done to get her back to her original glory. If you care deeply about your BMW I highly recommend this shop be your go-to.
Ive owned German vehicles for years and taken them to various mechanics around the city, these folks are hands down the best. They will explain everything in detail and even provide an online portal where you can approve or decline services as well as see how your repairs are progressing. They are honest, professional, incredibly friendly and just all around awesome. Look no further for your German auto needs!
Great experience. Even sent a txt later asking if everything was ok with the car.
Mandy was extremely helpful from our initial call! She was very knowledgeable and got me on their schedule ASAP. I highly recommend Portland Motor Works to anyone who needs their car serviced.
This is a wonderful place to take your car. They were very friendly and helpful ....in addition to being knowledgeable about our BMW. I would highly recommend this business.
Our first experience with Portland Motor Works was great - friendly, professional and competent service. We will definitely be return customers.
I broke down in Vancouver Washington just visiting family from Idaho Falls over memorial day weekend. I called about 6 different places to help me so I could get back home and no one would even consider fixing my car for weeks. Except for this shop. They were so fast and professional and assisted with not only the current problem that left me stranded but also fixed all the problems that I was dealing with for a year and wasting money at my old BMW mechanic who would not correctly fix my oil leaking problems which was causing more damage. I cannot express my gratitude for these guys. It was such a great experience I would drive my car back to Portland to have them do any future work on my car. Bravo! Portland Motor Works 👏👏😁
First rate service. Efficient, friendly and fairly priced. I highly recommend them.
Best shop in town. Niles and the staff are unbelievable. If you own a bmw, this is the place to take it. Honest, dependable and down to earth.I have had my e46 325xi wagon and my e34 540i both serviced here and couldnt imagine taking my vehicles any where else. The communication and professionalism are off the charts. Having your cars serviced or repaired here is like become part of a family, you know you can trust Niles and the team to not only keep you fully informed but to do the right thing for the vehicle you love and rely on.Id consider myself an enthusiast, and I know that Niles and the team feel just as passionate about my cars maintenance and performance as I do.
The Team here is so kind and professional, they never try and up seek you. Mandy at the front desk is a ray of sunshine keep up the great work!!!
Portland Motor Works is the best. They treat you like family!
By the book jobs are done right with original parts and owner and staff are all certified BMW specialist. They will work with you on a plan for affordability. I was surprised on how they document everything with pictures and full digital reports on services and your car that you can view online. You get the full service the office ladies will even communicate with you through messages via text. All my cars have progressively gotten better and more reliable. I have only been going to them for a year or less but im very pleased with what they do and the level they do it on.
Bought my first BMW and my uncle recommended this shop to me and decided to get an inspection. Never experienced such professionalism in a car shop before! Wonderful people and they took great care of my car and never cut corners even with something simple such as an inspection and wheel alignment. They even washed and vacuumed my car for free! If you live in the Portland area I see no reason to go somewhere else for repairs.
My go to for service on my z4 3.0i might be a bit spendy but you know the work was done right!
Ive been coming to PMW for several years and Ive found Niles, the owner, to be one of the most knowledgeable folks for all things BMW Ive ever known. Ive owned my 530i for 20 years and since I was recommended PNW by a friend they have given me the most straightforward, honest service for things as small as advice on how to unlock my trunk when the battery has died to significant repairs when needed. They are the tops! 5-stars+
Excellent service. Extremely professional, thorough, fast and fair. Highly ecommend for all your BMW needs.
Amazing experience with Portland Motor Works. Mandy, Niles and the rest of the team were great to me throughout the whole process. The team was honest when evaluating my car and helping me prioritize what should be taken care of immediately vs what can wait. Will definitely go back again.
Portland Motor Works has the best customer service and the most outstanding customer orientation that I have ever experiences in my decades of car ownership. They are thorough, transparent, honest, efficient, value-oriented. Thanks.
Great and friendly service every time I take my car in to them. Knowledgeable and professional. Had suspension issues ever since I had my car lowered somewhere else. Couldnt find the problem. Took my car in for an oil change yesterday, and not only did they fix the issue, but my car handles and feels great to drive again!!
It’s not always easy to find quality and truthful/honest service. I cannot recommend this place enough. Need some work done? Get a quote - give them a call and check this place out!!
These folks are great!! Office staff is exceptional, professional, and kind. Had a check engine on light and was entering my ninth month of pregnancy. They diagnosed the issue (and gave me some other recommended repairs Ill be doing later) and managed to take some preventative, more cost-effective measures to resolve the issue. So far, so good! They also noticed my key fob wasnt working correctly. When staff called to ask about it, I told them the same thing I had told the dealer about being able to unlock/lock from the back end of the car (which the dealer had shrugged off). Later on, they called to let me know they figured out the problem and it could be fixed for what seemed a more than reasonable price. No more waving my arm widely, walking around to the back of the car to get it unlocked! Whatever they did also got the comfort lock and start working again, which will be so incredibly useful when Im juggling a baby, carseat, diaper bag, etc.Lastly, the owner of the shop called this week to see if everything was still working correctly. Absolutely fantastic customer service and will gladly use them as long as Ive got a vehicle they can service.
First time customer, I was really impressed with how thorough, professional, and friendly the entire staff was. Niles and Mandy provided in-depth and transparent explanations for all work they recommended, and they made sure I had the right expectations during every stage in the process. They even sent before and after pictures of the work, which was a great added bonus. I have found the shop I want to be handling my Audi from now on.
Niles and his team always do a stellar job on my car. They are flexible, professional and punctual. I also appreciate having mechanics who are straight forward. Niles doesn’t sugar coat anything and is transparent with me. I’ll always refer his team and take my car to him.
Portland Motor Works, Inc is absolutely the friendliest, most communicative shop I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Ive consistently owned and driven European cars since my very first car and have had plenty of experience with various shops. Portland Motor Works gets the job done well and quickly, at a decent price and with thorough communication throughout the process.
Great service, very responsive, and open and honest.
Portland Motor Works performed a PPI on a BMW I was interested in purchasing. They went through the vehicle with a fine tooth comb and alerted me to several issues that ultimately steered me away from the purchase. I appreciate their expertise and would highly recommend their PPI service.
Knowledgeable and accommodating customer service paired with highly skilled techs and fair prices. Always happy about bringing my car here.
When my BMW 328i car broke down in Portland, I struggled to find someone to work on it immediately. I called Mandy and she was so helpful and kind. She suggested tow companies and allowed the tow truck driver to drop the car off after hours. The next day I received a very extensive review of my vehicle and the plan of action to get it running again. By the end of the day I had my car back. Niles was so knowledgeable and took the time to answer my questions. I highly recommend Portland Motorworks and I’m thrilled I’ve found a great mechanic. Thanks again for getting my beemer back on the road. 👍🏻🙏😁
Niles and PMW were amazing. They provided a transmission replacement for our X3. Great customer care, outstanding workmanship. We highly recommend them!
First time using PMW for mechanical work on my 2001 Z3 Coupe, after deciding Id get better service and quality at PMW than provided at the dealership. So happy I made the change. The staff is incredible, and as promised by the owner, I feel my car received much better service at PMW than at the dealership. The bottom line, I trust PMW to do a great job at a fair price.
The factory included service finally ran out so I was in search of a BMW mechanic near Happy Valley. Found PMW had very good reviews and when we finally needed them for a simple oil change I took it here. It was very simple to make an appointment online and the staff was great when we got there. As other reviewers noted they were very transparent with the included vehicle inspection. They noted some grease coming out of a u-joint but told me that it has some time before its ready to replace. Knowing just enough about vehicles to ask some questions I got the answers I was looking for. Not a big place but theyre big on customer service. Thanks crew at PMW!Side note, since your so close, try the little Italian bakery across the street. Sooo good!
Good reviews and location brought me to try PMW for the first time. Experience was professional, friendly, and within range of the costs I expected. Seemed like nice and trustworthy people and the repairs and maintenance seem solid. I plan to return for my next needed work.
Excellent service and friendly staff. I have used them in the past and will continue to use them for my BMW. PMW has been my go to service provider for my BMW for ten years. They do great work and give me very clear descriptions of problems and suggested repairs.
Very honest people i recommend this place!
I honestly wouldnt go anywhere else. Ive been coming here for a few years now and as long as I own a BMW this is where Ill go! Niles is so honest and thorough. Mandy is so nice and has answers for you so fast! I just love this team, keep it up guys! 💜
Niles constantly does good work, and fixing my water pump wass no exception. When I told him the issue, he pre-ordered my parts, had a loaner vehicle ready for me, and started work the next morning. When I got my car back, it was in better shape than I gave it to them: they had cleaned the interior as well! He also was able to work with me on my payment so it was split up best for me. Portland Motor works will continue to get my business, as they have for many years.
Niles and his team were wonderful, this was actually my first time making an appointment with the Portland Motor Works team and my expectations were blew out of the water. Their COVID-19 procedure knocked my socks off, when I first called, right away not only was I meet with a readily friendly voice but I was also quickly referred to their modified COVID procedures. With what information I had to give them, their team took that and ran, the very same call a plan of action was formed. I was able to not only drop off my car contactless but pick it up as well. Detailed reports were given on not only the work done but also pictures of a clean and sanitized car. I was worried about how easy it was going to be to use their online system to pay but everything went through the first time with no problem. I was blown away by the communication and how throughout the whole team is. I’m so excited to see and meet the team the next time I need work done.
We have a lot of confidence in this shop and Niles. If he says it needs to be fixed it really does need to be fixed!
Lets face it -- youre not sitting at home casually strolling through reviews on Google to find a place to get a good meal or the salon that will definitely do what you ask them to do and make your hair look amazing. Nope — not right now, anyway. Youre looking at Yelp for a place to take your European vehicle to have it looked at and hopefully worked on.Youve read through countless reviews for a number of places and youre still unsure of where to take your vehicle. Theres always something in the reviews at any of the places that makes you feel uneasy or unsure about that place. I was in your shoes. In my situation, my BMW had been showing me signs for far longer than I should admit to having seen them and tried to ignore them. These signs said I had a problem in the engine area. I drove a VW for 11 years. It was ridiculously expensive to repair and was going to the shop often. I had a great mechanic that I trusted dearly, but I no longer live in the Central Coast of California -- Im living in Portland. Where do I go?After hours of research, something told me to call Portland Motor Works. I called the shop and was impressed by how friendly and knowledgeable the staff was. They were also able to get me in two days from my call. The person on the phone with me was patient and answered my exhaustive number of questions and never made me feel like an idiot or like I was being rushed off of the phone.I had friends drop the vehicle off as I was working and they came back to me and said the staff was very friendly and I may have made the right choice in where to take Violet. Yes, Violet is the name of my vehicle. Dont ask.Portland Motor Works does things Ive never had another shop do. They can send text messages if you cannot talk on the phone. They take pictures of everything they are diagnosing so you can see the actual issue as it is on your vehicle. And when theyre done diagnosing the issues, they send a breakdown of everything that is wrong and the pricing (and details) of the work that needs to be done. Each item has its own section where you can approve or decline the work. No need to play phone tag with this place! They get notified that youve updated the information and they get to work to get your car done as quickly as possible.Again, Ive had a place before where I have felt comfortable taking my vehicle. Two places, actually. But I never felt this level of trust and communication and transparency as I do with Portland Motor Works. One visit and I am most definitely certain that Ill do business here any time it is needed. These guys are seriously the best.
I tend to be more of a hands on person in regard to my BMW, but I trust Niles and his BMW team to give me solid and clear answers when there are issues with my car and a fair price. They always take time to explain the issues in detail. When I first purchased my BMW I went to a couple if other shops but found them to be looking for repairs that did not need to be fixed and over charging. I learned the hard way, I hope this review saves you the time and money I lost. My advice: See Niles and his team first. They are the best!
Professional, well-run shop that obviously focuses on customer service. Mandy does a fantastic job with communication keeping you apprised of where your repair is and how much it will cost. Normally, I do a lot of my own repairs but didnt want to mess with gas. They talked me through options and even did a thorough inspection of all the other little things going on with my 180K miles 13-year old X3. I didnt feel any pressure to fix those other things and the amount of selling around those options was minimal.Overall, I highly recommend PNW and will use them again when I dont have the aptitude or the time to repair my BMW. Its refreshing to find a shop that treats its customers with honesty, integrity, and respect.
Cost is par for course (owning a BMW just isnt cheap), but with exceptional service. Ive yet to find that unicorn of a BMW repair shop that is cheap and good; until I do Ill be coming back here as long as I own one. Been coming here for 2.5 years with 2 different cars. These guys are just the best - professional, accommodating, and nice to boot. Mandy and Niles will treat you right! Seriously - I never leave reviews but theyre worth it.
Not bad on repair work I expected a little bit more prices were a little higher than other places but so far they did the work they claimed they were going to do that I was able to check
Niles was fantastic when I needed him on short notice to enable my well-maintained 2002 BMW 330xi to pass the DEQ. I was surprised in August 2019 when the car was rejected and neither the dealer nor the shop that did my work at that time could accommodate me. I was on a short time frame.. Nliles quickly recognized the best way to fix the issues, instructed me on the driving needed to reset the computers and pointed out the need for new tires which I had not noticed, and which I purchased through my regular tire provider. I would go out of my way to use him again. No wonder there are so many positive reviews on this website!
Niles, Mandy and Emily at Portland Motor works are amazing people and they take care of your every need. They take care of you like your family. We have been bringing our Audi to them for the last 4 years and any issues I have had is taken care of and they don’t try and sell you stuff that you don’t need. All work is done professionally and their technicians are great guys. They come out to talk to you about the issues and they let you know what they had done to fix the problem. I have taken my Audi to other shops and nothing compares to how you are treated at Portland Motor Works. Thanks again for taking care of us.Mike
This is my first experience with PMWs. I am a recent owner of a lease return 528i xdr purchased. I have owned Mercedes in the past so I do have some familiarity with German cars knowing their maintenance is more costly in general than many other imports. I have always looked for a reputable independent shop owner for maintenance for my cars and believe I have found that with Niles and his team. I had a good discussion with Niles the day I took my car in; it was obvious he has a depth of knowledge on BMWs. I was happy with my experience and would recommend his shop.
Niles and his team did an amazing job with a Pre purchase inspection of my 2016 BMW 328d wagon. I found a vehicle in this area of Portland while living in Seattle, and Niles made it easy to execute an in depth PPI. His front desk is also very VERY kind, and energetic. Niles himself is very knowledgeable, and gave me fair warning on many things, and gave me proper estimates on work that needed to be done. He was very open and honest, as he works for the client (us), instead of any dealership. Niles and his team were on top of communication from the very first call on the work that was needed, and helped me to purchase my new wagon! I am very grateful for his work that him and his team were able to do for me, and minimized the stress of buying a car from a different state. I highly recommend Portland Motor Works to anyone looking for a PPI, and work on their vehicles. 5 stars.
Portland Motor Works are absolutely awesome and honest hard working people. My girlfriend, dog, and I were stranded 3,000 miles from home in Portland with our recently purchased F10 5 series when we encountered issues which made the car nearly undriveable. We scrambled to find a shop in the area that could take care of us, and after a few calls around we spoke to Niles who assured us he could get us in first thing the following morning, and that he did. It turned out both front axles were failing most likely due to all 4 rims being bent, he was extremely transparent with the problems and even took me back to see the problems and walked me through them. They managed to source a set of beautiful aftermarket Rotiform wheels locally and expedited everything over that afternoon, even staying late to ensure they got our car finished. All in all we had a wonderful experience with PNW and would recommend them to anybody. - Max, Sarah, & Jet.
Niles, Emily, Mandy and the rest of the team are amazing. I literally cannot say enough with how pleased i have always been (going on about 3 years of coming here) with the customer service, the quality of repairs, the knowledge and information im given when Ive had service performed. The techs are thorough, efficient & quick all at the same time. The customer service from the front office is amazing, and on top of it all, this is a wonderful family owned/run business. Thank you Portland Motor Works for all you do, and sorry it took me so long to get on here and leave you guys a review!
I cant say enough good things about Niles and his team! Its the only place I take my car. Hes really great at what he does and I trust him more than anyone else Ive taken my cars to in the past. Everyone is so friendly and very thorough not just with maintenance but customer service as well. Highly recommend!
Niles, Mandy, their team and the dog who loves me always exceed any expectations with attention to detail and promptness. “Evelyn” will always return here for her needs.
As always, so happy with this great team. Niles is so knowledgeable along with his staff. Great people, honest and professional. Never take your BMW to anyone else. Everyone who owns a BMW knows maintenance can be expensive, just goes with the territory. But Portland Motor Works works hard to ease the anxiety and throughly explain any and all issues. I feel a lot better knowing they are there!
Had a problem with my 4 wheel drive not working in my BMW X3 and the snow had already hit my place with 9inches . Had always took my car to the dealer but they were 2 weeks booked. Called and explained what was going on and Niles got me right in and explained everything in complete detail and with technical aspects as well.. The way Niles and his staff at the counter treated me was like nothing Ive experienced before at a shop and honestly other shops should take many pages out of there book in the way they conduct business.. I will never take my car anywhere else now.. Thanks guys for your care and professionalism... JOSEPH KNIGHT
Niles and his team are fantastic! Im trying to think how the experience could have been any better and Im not coming up with anything. Free maybe? :-)The customer service, communication and work were all top notch. Mandy actually called me to give a progress update along the way, rather than me having to call her!Ive been wrenching on my own cars for over 25 years. I ask a lot of questions. These guys know their stuff, are honest and know we all have a budget. Niles spent a ton of time answering my questions with honest information about critical repairs and those that could wait. He also worked late to finish my car himself to meet my schedule. If you have a BMW and are looking for service, look no further. I cant imagine youll ever find a better shop. Thanks!!!
Super friendly and efficient. A little pricy but very thorough.
Niles, Mandy, and Emily at Portland Motor Works are fantastic to work with! I have been taking my car there for years, and they have always exceeded my expectations. The Portland Motor Works crew goes out of their way to ensure the job is done well!
I absolutely love this place. Niles is such an honest mechanic. This man has helped save me hundreds of dollars and is kind, honest and helpful every time he works on my vehicle. I really cant thank Niles and Mandy enough for being so great and answering all of my questions. If you want an honest and hardworking mechanic then you have found your place. 100% satisfied every single time I take my vehicle here. Thank you so much PMW staff!
Repairs made on my BMW was pretty quick and customer service was EXCELLENT!!
Honest indy mechanic for German automobiles. Would reccomend!
On time and on budget. No surprises. Came in for a mileage-due oil change and a check of random warning lights. Niles and crew were thorough in their assessment of the car and clear on recommendations such as a brake fluid flush. Work was done efficiently and at a fair price. Most important is that Niles is always very clear on what is recommended, why, and the estimated cost. That is something I have never experienced at the dealer.
This shop is the BEST! Top notch mechanics, charming staff, and the owner is built of integrity and know how. You can always depend on receiving the best service, the finest work, great kindness, and correct pricing. There is no reason to ever go to another shop. Period.
We have been bringing our X5 to Niles for a few years now. This time it was for an oil change amd tire rotation. They were ready for our appointment and are always pleasant to talk with. If you have a BMW this is the place to go.
Other than my father, I have never felt I could fully trust my mechanics. Niles is the exception! He is knowledgeable and takes the time to fully explain processes etc. which means a lot to me. And when he makes a repair, it is complete. I am a first time BMW owner, the education alone that he has provided about these cars is invaluable.
Niles and the team have always treated me and my 98 323is with integrity. I appreciate that he doesnt try to up-sell or talk down, but just explains whats going on with the car, what options are available, and tries to keep it all affordable. Excellent work.
Cant say enough about the experience I had at PMW.... Outstanding honest and fair customer service. Very timely in the repair and presented multiple options in how I approach some car issues. I will continue to bring my cars here for sure!
Where do I even begin?? Niles is, in a word, amazing. His service is top-notch, his bedside manner is empathetic and compassionate, and he is above all - honest. When we moved to Portland from New England, we really needed an indie shop like we had back East. He is even better than the guy wed drive 3 hours to see in New Hampshire. Got a BMW? This is your and your cars new best friend, we cant recommend him highly enough. If there were 10 stars, hed get em.
Niles is not only a powerhouse of German engineering knowledge, but he is also a truly wonderful business owner. He answers all of my many questions with patience and detail. He treats my car like he loves it as much as I do. He is honest with me about repairs that I do or dont need to have done. Im so grateful to have found him to take care of my BMW so Im not at the mercy of the dealership. Ill never take my car anywhere else.
Love these guys. Honest work, at very competitive prices. Highly recommend them to anyone with BMW problems. Its the only shop Ive ever taken my car to for a few problems over the years and Im always very happy when i get my car back in such a great working order. 5/5
I brought my 16 year old VW here and you cant beat the service. They are so kind and helpful. I ended up getting a new car rather than sinking more money into mine at this point, but I was actually on the fence about getting another German car just so I could keep them as my mechanic.
The service I experienced was great. Niles was informative, and easy to deal with. The communication on the various issues was clear, complete with pictures and video. Work was done promptly and expertly.
Nothing but love for the PMW crew. Aces all around. Wish everyone was this solid.
Niles is great! Hes personable and available and knows his stuff. When I had a problem getting through DEQ he helped me do it for hundreds less than I expected to pay. Friendly and honest company!
Niles (owner) was very professional and courteous. He is like encyclopedia when it comes to BMW cars.He toke the time to listen to what I had to say in regards to my car problems. He was very detailed in explaining what he would do to fix it.I am 100% satisfied with all the repairs done to my car and will definitely come back.I can tell Niles has pride for what he does.Thank you for everything Niles.
Niles is very good at explaining in detail my problems and what he did to fix them. I also appreciate his education to help me better understand my BMW. I do miss the direct contacts with him. I guess he is growing in business and he increased his staff. Good for him!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDNile helped me find the problem I was hearing and gave me a really reasonable price for fixing it. Ive been to a lot of different shops in the Portland area and this is by far the best. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Excellent communication during every step of the way. Really nice people and a great place to get your car serviced.
Response to Owner’s response:Niles: I appreciate that you took the time to reply. I posted my feedback as a request from an email you sent to me. Feedback and reviews are important and as a businessman myself I respect that they be honest and factual and I attest that my comments are based on facts to my points. I realize your shop is your livelihood and I also will attest from experience that you usually deliver quality service and, hopefully, my experience was an anomaly. That said, it’s important that I respond to your comments to set the record, and facts, straight:1) I did not write this review in an attempt to impune by any measure of misrepresentation. Hell, I was always so appreciative of your dedication to service and our “relationship” that I routinely brought chocolates and gifts to your shop. My review is an honest and sincere account of what happened, as you requested. Consider it a wake-up call because I believe your core values are better than this and perhaps this was a unfortunate “one time” example.2) I didn’t cash the $305 inspection fee check you returned to me because I have integrity. And by the way; it was a “pre” purchase inspection which I explained to you was important before I purchased. I did not ask you for a price to do the inspection and so I did not feel it appropriate to not pay what you demanded, even thought I expected it to be in the $150 range that is typical. BTW: do you routinely charge $305 for a one hour inspection?3) The evidence of oil leak you outlined in the inspection was “from the oil filter housing” which is no where near the oil pan. I watched as you did the inspection and you showed me the leak from the top of the engine. Truth is you were in a hurry and never removed the skid plate to examine. I still have your inspection report if you’d like to verify.4) Regarding your comment: “we did all we could to get you in on a day that we were already booked up as you were in a pinch to get the inspection done before your grace period expired. We did our best at the time to accommodate you.” This is also not accurate, and you actually texted me acknowledging such. I visited you (as always) and asked YOU when you were available. You could not do it right away and we set a day You selected. I even requested an extension on my purchase contract to accommodate your schedule. It was set for 11 am and that’s when I arrived. You did not do the inspection until around 2 pm., after taking a long lunch. If you couldn’t do it right away why didn’t you just tell me and I would have returned at a good time?5) You say that you “..never, ever low ball my clients.”. I never suggested you low-balled me. Again, review my comments…6) Your statement: “Also, the $2100 price you paid included more than just the oil pan gasket replacement.”.I have the repair statement, please tell what else you did beyond the gasket replacement because looking at the statement you are clear to include and itemize all, and any, charges, including an oil change charge which seems odd given that of course removing an oil pan would require new oil. So why an oil “change” charge? Again, I have the repair statement if you’d like to review.7) Ok, my date as to the first time I brought my old X3 to was 2016 rather than 2013. This is immaterial and only included to demonstrate my perspective of an existing relationship. I have all the documents related to this job if you’re questioning any accuracy.Niles: try as you will with deflection/excuses, the facts are clear (again, I can share all of your work order documents with you). Call it what you want; a repercussion of circumstances at the time, or perhaps a momentary lapse of service but the bottom line is that your deficient inspection cost me an over-charged $2,100.
PMW is unbeatable in every single way, they have my business for life! Amazing customer service, seriously trustworthy repair service and the most pleasant and fulfilling experience I have ever had at an auto repair shop!Always straightforward about the issues and never any pressure, we are sincerely lucky to have found Niles, Mandy, Emily, Romen, Logan, Andrew and the crew!! Caring and personal at every turn, thank you all so much for everything!
Very professional, efficient and honest to deal with! Niles is personable and very straight forward. The front desk ladies are very friendly and make you feel right at home.
First time that I have been there but they have treated me like we have been using them for years. Niles has communicated above and beyond. They have a new customer for life. He will not compromise with cheeper after market parts. You have to remeber you get what you pay for.
The team at Portland Motor Works is the best around. My family and I wont take our cars anywhere else. If youre on the fence about where to take yours, I recommend giving Niles a call. Honest, fair, and always goes above and beyond to service his customers.
Niles was highly recommended to me by another mechanic. Niles and his staff are so pleasant to deal with and take the time to explain things to me. I am very happy here and its nice to finally find a mechanic and his team who do honest quality work.
No matter what the problem is, I can always trust Niles and his crew to do great, honest work. Friendly service, and nice people that give it to you straight. Never been to a shop more caring and helpful as PMW. Highly recommend!
Awesome service. Great communication and very friendly staff. I will be bring my car exclusively to this shop from now on.
Did not actually get work done here, but called about getting work done and was very impressed with the customer service! The gentleman kindly explained that their Mercedes specialist was out for health reasons, so they could not take on the repair job. Without even having to ask he went on to make a suggestion for a repair shop that specializes in Mercedes and does good work (I verified this by looking up reviews).I have often found that a place that prides itself in customer service also prides itself in all other aspects.Thank you Portland Motor Works for being so helpful!
I recently had an awful experience at my trusted BMW service provider. I My power steering stopped working in the middle of the road back home. I made a apt with my trusted shop and took my car in. Priced me at $2100 for labor for a broken bolt. Obviously Im not car expert but that seemed pretty nuts to me.I was referred to this shop by a friend. I called to get a quote on their hourly charge. Receptionist immediately told me that was a recall and to take it in to my BMW. I did just that! Everything was free!!! Okay so ummmmmmm how id my trusty 50+ year in the business not know that was a recall? Very very dang hard to believe. Some shops are not trust worthy, however this shop won my business for being honest!
My daughter broke down in the middle of the afternoon. Portland Motor Works gladly accepted our vehicle from AAA. They had the car diagnosed early the next morning and was finished with it by early afternoon. They were on the phone with me to keep me updated. Portland motor works was kind and efficient. The cost was very fair. Thank you for easing our minds and pocket book!
Amazing customer service, and extremely detailed in their services. Will not go anywhere else with my Mercedes.Thank you Portland Motor Works.
All I can say is going to Portland Motors Works was one of the best auto repair experiences I have ever had. Niles and his guys know these vehicles so well and care about their work. They are friendly and walk you through everything without a rush. Honest, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. Traits like this are so hard to find in a mechanic but you get those with Niles. If you really care about your car and want great service, Portland Motor Works is your new auto repair shop.
Portland Motor Works has always been there for us, from routine maintenance to major fixes. They are always on time, repair cost estimates are spot on and the service has been fantastic. I have recommended several friends and family there and they are all happy with my referral. You’ll understand why this place is great when you meet the team and everyone’s expertise.
Good Service. Nice people. Faith in their work! The place for my Audi.
They always do an excellent job of communicating, trouble shooting and getting my car back to me with as little downtime as possible. If you have a BMW, I cant recommend them enough.
The owner and mechanic were both amazing and Knowledgeable. and offered the very best i could expect in customer service. It was more than customer service really. They were very friendly and explained every detail and never rushed me although i could see they were busy. As an older woman i recommend them to other women who may sometimes feel less respected by auto shops. Best Merc service ever
Im on my second BMW and probably because I can rely on Niles at Portland Motor Works to help me care for it! They are efficient, professional and Ive been using them for many years now.
Most of us spend a years trying to find a mechanic that we can trust. I cannot express the relief that I felt when I met Niles and the staff at Portland Motor Works. We had been taking our BMW to the dealerships for 15 years. Niles was extremely generous with his time and knowledge, explaining each issue to me, what causes it, and what the least expensive solution would be. We ended up doing 4 repairs with him and the cost ended up being about 75% less than what the dealership had quoted. We also came to find out that Niles worked at the local dealership for years and he has actually trained over half the staff there. He is a true expert in BMW repairs and I will never again allow anybody but Portland Motor Works to service and repair our vehicles. I cant recommend them highly enough.
Not only is this place within walking distance for me it it also the friendliest, most honest, and fastest mechanic I have taken a car to. It makes me want to continue getting VWs (or similar European car) in the future so I’ll be able to stick with Portland motor works.
They have great support and service but they will do everything in their power to rip you off. Unless you are wealthy and I can afford to pay $1,000 more than you should for a job then I would stay away
Great place to take your late model BMW after the factory warranty expires for repair and schedule maintenance. This is not one of those sketchy independent BMW mechanic facilities, Niles and his crew are a dying breed and are totally up to speed on all things BMW. They operate under a very cool code of knowledge and transparency that I for one appreciate immensely. The only caveat is that its far from SW Portland so I use Uber on the days I know I need to go to Portland Motor Works, honestly not a huge deal.As for price, definitely not on the Service Rep Commission plan, you pay shop time plus parts like it should be, which means theyre very competitive and way less expensive than the dealer.
