Great work from the mechanics. Friendly service advisor.
Our experience with New England Imports was fantastic. My family and I were road tripping from Florida to Canada, arriving to Maine, our car broke down. We went to several auto repair shops— giving us next week appointments and repair times which we couldn’t agree to. All Hope was lost until we went to New England Imports, Paul was amazing, he helped us every step of the way; very attentive and kind. The repair was quick, he helped us the same day, having it done by the end of the day! Paul and his team were definitely life savers! We can’t thank them enough!
I’ve had a great experience here. They explain what they’re doing, are transparent and try to find best price for parts. 10/10 would recommend.
These guys did a absolutely fantastic job on my 2007 Bmw Valve Cover Gasket. I ended having to reschedule and they did it no questions ask with no issues and when they were able to work on the car they got it done quick and kept it contact with me through the whole transaction. The best part is I paid less than half what the Bmw Dealership had quoted me. I will always take my car here going forward! Highly recommend this place for any one looking for a good honest European mechanic.
Called on a whim to schedule a state inspection. The facility is spotless. Everyone I worked with was extremely professional, pleasant & easy to work with. I would definitely consider them in the future for any repair needs.
Honest, fair, skilled, pleasant! What more is there to say? A business where they take pride in a job well done and adhere to the old world value of a persons word and a handshake truly meaning something! Thank you!
Ive done business with them for over 35 years and have been absolutely happy with every visit. They stand behind their work and do an excellent job. Very trustworthy small family business.
Paul is the man and has always done great work on the two cars I have brought to him. The prices are fair, he is honest about issues with your car and solutions to fix them and he takes the time to explain how things work in your car. Anyone with a VW should be going to this shop.
Honest and fair. Never tacks on BS and if you ask to have something checked out or worked on, he never fights you on it. Its hard to find a mechanic thatll listen these days. They have fixed a couple of big issues on my Volvo, and Ive always been happy with the work.
I started using NE imports because they’re in my neighborhood but I keep going back because I trust them. There have been times when could have charged me for work, but instead told me what it was and let me make my own decisions. Will continue using them and passing on their contact info. Thanks!
In the past two weeks I have had the pleasure of working with New England Imports. The first encounter was with my sons car window that wouldnt stay up. I called and spoke with Paul who got him right in to fix the issue. Thinking we were all set till my son came home from college in 6weeks we had another setback in that his car was leaking fluid, steering was hard to turn..etc. I asked him how far he was from New England and lucky enough he was 2miles away. I called and again spoke to Paul and told him the issues. He didnt hesitate and saying have him come right in and we will look at it. Again they fixed the issue. I only wished I had found New England 4years ago when my son started college in Portland. Paul and crew Thank You for easing my mind in helping my son with his car. Wishing you the best! Mary Hauze
Had a big project done on my VW... a comparatively, reasonable rate was quoted... and held... and with good results. Happenings as these, bring me back for regular maintenance needs. No loaner car, transportation or complimentary car wash provided... however, it is a good reason to get together in Portland with a friend and the freezing weather was not compatible with a final car rinse! Complimentary amenities are convenient; a reasonable rate with good results is more convenient.
Very satisfied. Fair pricing, very knowledgeable techs. Would recommend them to anyone with a European vehicle in need of some TLC!
Ive been coming here for years for my car repairs on recommendation from a friend. They do excellent work and are fair with their pricing. Wouldnt go anywhere else.
Took my girlfriends 99 Toyota Tacoma here after experiencing unusually hot engine temps and steam coming from the hood. Spent $500 on parts and labor to fix the thermostat, radiator cap, and replace the battery. Within a week we were noticing white smoke coming out of the exhaust. A mere 11 days after the radiator work was completed the shop determined the head gasket needed to be replaced. This job ran $1367.62. Literally 1 day and ten miles of driving later, the truck stalled in the middle of a busy intersection with my pregnant girlfriend at the wheel. This is where the basis of my complaint lies. My girlfriend called New England Imports and Tom (the owner) answered. She informed him she had just picked the truck up and that it stalled on her. He proceeds to give her a callus attitude so much so that she called me crying on the phone. He told her to bring it in to look at it. She asked if he thought the truck could make it in to which he replied, I dont know let me get my crystal ball. Needless to say this ended our relationship with New England Imports. I had the truck towed to the Toyota dealership in town. They thought it was a bad fuse causing the shorting, but this was not the case as the truck stalled out the day after we got it back from them. Upon my second time bringing it to Toyota they informed me that the frame was rusted and the truck should not even be on the road. Mind you New England imports gave us a passing inspection sticker less than a month before (march 20th). Whether they missed this or ignored it they grossly violated their duty as a Maine inspection station to make sure vehicles are safe enough for road use. In my opinion they are not fit to inspect vehicles in the state of Maine or any state for that matter. More than a month and over $500 later, it was finally determined by the fine folks at Auto Tech in Portland that the stalling was caused by loosely attached wires during the aforementioned head gasket repair. The problem has since been remedied and the truck has not stalled since. After finding out the true cause of the stalling i called NEI and asked them to reimburse me for the costs incurred in fixing the problem caused by their work. I asked for $500 (not even the total I spent on multiple repair attempts + towing. This doesnt include the price of the stress caused to my family and I as a result of their poor work). They offered me $200 best they can do. Moral of the story avoid the shoddy workmanship and tool of an owner at New England Imports, LLC on St. John st in portland at all costs. They will do more harm than help to your vehicle, guaranteed.
Terrible. I purchased two used cars from Paul at New England Imports that they purchased and rebuilt. Both appeared to be in good shape, but one week after the sale, one cars gear box stopped working and the other starts leaking oil.I call Paul and ask what we can do about this, thinking hes an honest guy, but of course I get the runaround of, You bought it as is.... So, my mistake, I trusted the wrong mechanic. At the end of the call he said he would do the work on fixing the oil leak, at the standard rate. My polite response was, No thanks. I bought from him a car, which he most likely knew was in poor shape, so now Im going to pay him more money to fix the car he sold me?Conclusion: Paul of New England Imports is dishonest and greedy, or just a bad mechanic. Either way, go somewhere else.
Always honest, fair-priced and communicative. Ive taken my Honda/Subaru to New England Imports for years.
All you can ask...fair and honest
Very honest and reliable
Great mechanic and owner
