Franks already has a great reputation in the Sarasota and Charlotte County area. This is why I went there to begin with. I got a very fast and fair quote for the service of my suspension as well as the inspection of my air conditioning. Joe took care of the situation and told me honestly and candidly with what I needed done, as well as what could wait. I have enough knowledge and experience with vehicles to know he was being transparent. It has now been two months since service and I just received a follow up from Joe. I have never had follow ups before on this type of work. These folks are true professionals. I would recommend them to anyone.

The best repair shop that I have ever been to. Joe is great upfront and fair. Repairs are done correct the first time and done in a timely manner. Joe talks to you personally and explains what needs done. Joe kinda seems like that old school doctor who you can trust what he says and you know your vehicle is in good hands and will be fixed correctly not just a band aid that will take your money only to have to have it fixed again down the road. I do most of the service maintenance on my work van, but when my transmission started stuttering and shifting hard, I knew a Youtube video and a toolbox wasnt going to solve this one. After calling several places that wouldnt even listen to me describe the problem, I found Franks. Joe not only listened to me, he asked me questions and didnt treat me like I was clueless. It wasnt a surprise to me that it needed replacing, but it was very surprising when I had a brand new trans from GM with a 100k warranty, shocks, front tires, and a clean fuel system in WELL under a week, and that includes a weekend. My van hasnt driven this nicely since I bought it. With the product knowledge (I dont think the dealer even knows as much), promptness, and overall integrity found here, Im not taking it anywhere else but Franks. (Also, I knew I needed shocks and tires, I wasnt pressured or anything, but I didnt know the fuel system clean-out was even a thing. He asked me, and all I knew was it said non-serviceable when I went to buy a fuel filter. There is a very noticeable difference in pick up now. Its stuff like this that really seals the deal for me. He knew Id like it, and I do.)

Excellent customer service. I’ve spent my last few winters as a short term snowbird in Port Charlotte, but hadn’t yet needed any auto care. An old vehicle (2000 Honda CR-V) had the check engine light come on and indicated the 02 sensor was not working properly. Took the vehicle into Franks, they spent a lot of time trying to diagnose the problem, saw nothing of concern in the vehicle and charged me nothing. Honest with integrity. I am an older women who knows nothing about car motors. During my experience with this family business I have found that they respect that lack of knowledge rather than to take advantage of it. That is not found everywhere today. Joe is not an honest business owner. I paid top dollar for a new complete air cond. system. He Installed the cheapest generic parts, (verified). The Air. Cond. broke down within one Year of installation! I went back for help, and Joe, owner Refused to offer any kind of discount to repair it. I brought my receipt to explain and was told to leave! I left in tears. I was Never treated so disrespectful. Im a Senior on a budget, so this was a hardship to pay for another air cond. System.I Knew his response to this review would be another attempt to be dishonest, By stating it was 6 years ago, NOT TRUE. Anyone can change a tire, put a battery in, its the big jobs, that costs big money that Joe is dishonest about. Hes a Disgrace to his dad, Franks name. If Frank was still there hed never do this to anyone.

Thank you for diagnosing my husbands car so that my husband can get to work tomorrow! His car has been broken-down over a week. The first place we took it couldnt figure it out. After having it a couple days they assumed it could be an expensive computer problem and estimated over 500.00. The second place we took it claimed they would look at it last week. Several days came and went and the car remained in the same spot at this other mechanics place as where the tow truck left it. They just didnt have time for us despite promising us it would be looked at by the end of the next day. Then several other days came and went and they still had not looked at it. At this point we were out two tow truck bills and my husband missed a days work since he didnt have a car to get to his job in Sarasota. Thankfully we decided to give one more mechanic a try. Ive been going to Franks for several years for one big reason..honest good work! I really appreciate that Joe and his team provide complete explanations of any needed maintenance, prices are fair, work is excellent and everyone is so friendly. Shop is appropriately named..I do feel like part of the family.

We were totally ripped off and deceived by being charged without them telling us how much it would be first after CLEARLY AND SPECIFICALLY leaving word (in writing even) to notify us BEFORE doing anything on the car by telling us the price FIRST. Joe was the contact person.In all my years of taking a car to mechanics, they would look at the car regarding the problem, give an estimate (FREE) and then the work would be approved based on price and situation.Well, not this guy.We left the car with a note of the issue in order for them to determine the cause of the problem and how much it would cost to fix. In writing, we told them not to do anything without giving us a price first.So he calls and lets us know what he thought the issue probably was and that basically he didn’t know how long it would take to fix, if he could even, or what it may cost exactly. Based on that vague response, we approved nothing and just said we would pick up the car.Ends up he charged us over $100, telling us it was for diagnostics. Nothing was ever mentioned over the phone, ahead of time or anything. We were hit with that when we got there to pick it up.Again- we asked to be told a price BEFORE doing anything. If he listened and was a person with any integrity, he would have told us up front he was going to charge as for just looking at it or before doing any supposed diagnostics.We have NEVER been charged for an estimate anywhere AND diagnostics have NEVER cost that much. PLUS, if he did do these supposed diagnostics and knew he was going to charge us that much - or at all - then he should have called us beforehand to tell us honestly and up front - ESPECIALLY since we were MORE THAN clear on specifying to tell us a price prior to doing anything.What he did was very bad business, wrong, unfair and plain old dishonest. This will not be the only complaint I file against this injustice. We deserve our money back.

Once upon a time, this little baby was sick, there were several issues, but thanks to the people at Franks Family Car Care she runs like she is suppose to, I had been to another Un Name Place very close to Franks where I was hosed! They are more like Sears Roebuck then a shop. Replace till we find whats wrong is how they work, which is why I will not even Buy Tires from them and Thats what their known for. I had Franks do a bumper to bumper inspection and service on my 2008 Jeep Liberty and was 100% satisfied with the work. Franks pricing was very competitive and fair. The estimate I was given was right on the money, the work was done on time and they even followed up with me a few days after the work was completed to make sure I was happy, (which I was!)I have already referred some friends to Franks and I plan on having all my future services done there.

Absolutely top notch! As an owner of more than a dozen classic cars, Joe and his team did an alignment on my 76 Buick Electra. Unlike todays cars, alignments of those era cars are time consuming and complex. Handled like a champ! Back on the road riding straight as an arrow!

I took my 69 impala to franks car care for what I thought was a bad carburetor and bad timing(which was all that was wrong with it). I had just drove this car from Tuscaloosa Alabama 670 miles without any problems just 2 months ago when I got here the car sat in my driveway until I had it towed to him. So I got the carb rebuilt in largo at guaranteed carburetor... and joe(the owner of franks but maybe a Manager) put the carb on and advised me about my timing being off and that its running but its backfiring. He suggested removing the old points and going with a HEI distributor and I was fine with it....so lets fast forward a little... today after waiting 3weeks for my car Joe finally calls and says its ready. I was excited and rushed up there to get it. When I get there he tells me I have a knock in my motor...yes a freaking knock that wasnt never there prior to him touching it...whatever he did or allowed to be done caused a knock in my motor. So my guess is that while he was trying to solve the timing issue he threw a rod and or rocker arm/lifter by cranking while the timing wasnt in position...and I had to pay a freakin 1000.00 bucks for this bullcrap.... So in 3wks he put a carb on my car that i had pd to have rebuilt...and put in spark plugs that i furnished...and installed a HEI distributor... All of which took him 3 wks to do.... Seriously thinking about calling my lawyer tomorrow... So I am warning everyone to avoid FRANKS CAR CARE HERE IN PORT CHARLOTTE...I feel violated and compelled to not take this crap!!
