From June until April of the next year I have had a whole in my ceiling. They have sent over 4 different contractors that took one look and walked away. They now refuse to send more people and simply tell me to move. SLUMLORDS. Never rent form these absolute SLUMLORDS!
No one told my girlfriend before she moved into an apartment of theirs, that her apartment would flood. She lost 3000 dollars of appliances due to no one telling her, that her apartment flooded. A year after she moved out, theyre still sending her letters in the mail demanding money she owed from her security deposit. She paid it as soon as she moved out so she wouldnt have to deal with this company anymore. The carpet in her apartment shouldve been replaced 5 years ago. Looks like someone with cats lived there before her. This company is a mess. I wonder how many people theyve gotten money out of, that actually didnt owe any money at all...
It’s a shame how they treat older people who rented from them for over 18 years. My poor mom was a loyal tenant for years and when she left she was really screwed over. They never fixed broken cabinets or old carpet. Things were falling apart. Yet, they stilltried to nickel and dime my mom after she moved out. Again she was a loyal and responsible resident for 18 plus years! RENTERS BEWARE!!
Warning, Warning ...do not even think about renting from them.
Theyre wonderful! Weve rented from both small-time landlords and large rental companies; RPI is the best of both worlds. We worked specifically with Kristy, who went above and beyond to find us our perfect home! Weve already recommended RPI to friends looking to rent and well continue to do so - we really appreciate them making our move so stress-free!
I emailed about a few different rentals they had available. I explained in the email that I had a dog which a woman named Kristy asked what kind of dog, the weight and if I had a picture. I replied back with all the information she asked for. Then I never got a response. I emailed her multiple times. Then I called the office to figure out what was going on and no one could give me a yes or no answer about the dog. Its very clear that no one knows whats going on. Its absolutely unprofessional.
This team is phenomenal! I was in desperate need for a new apartment, but I wanted to find something I loved. I worked with Kristy after finding a few of their properties online. She was able to help me find a location I absolutely adore, and it was cheaper than where I was currently staying! She did everything in her power to make sure I left a happy customer, and I cannot recommend these guys enough. If youre looking for some place to rent, please do yourself a favor and check them out!
As my first rental experience, this was definitely a positive one.The staff was very great at communicating and gave timely responses with clarity for any questions/concerns that I had. Stayed for 2.5 years and all of it was pleasant. The pricing was the best I could find in the area for what I was looking for. The appliances were far from new but they still worked efficiently and paying such a low price for rent I wasnt expecting top-of-the-line appliances. If you follow the process and understand the terms of the lease, they follow it exactly as you sign it. They were willing to accommodate a trial period for my roommate before making him sign his lease so we could make sure this would be a positive situation, which was beyond what I expected them to allow. They provided maintenance when needed, which was only once during my 2.5 year stay.My only negative feedback is that upon termination of my lease I was charged for the carpet cleaning. I was never advised previously that this would happen, and I had understood that this cost would be assumed by RPI as it is a standard procedure a company would do to prepare the unit for the next resident regardless. When renewing my lease after the first 2 years, I was asked if the carpets needed cleaned; I advised that they were in need of cleaning but it is not necessary at this time because it was acceptable for my standards (and I did not want to deal with having to move my stuff around to allow for them to be cleaned.) I chose not to question this and just accept the money I did get back from my security deposit, however, so ultimately that extra money lost is on me. Moving forward I think that is one thing that RPI should clarify in advance. All in all my experience was great. The office staff was helpful, the maintenance staff was great, and the experience was very positive. I was even a couple days late on rent one month and wasnt charged the late fee. Respect given earns respect in return and I received that during my lease. The 5-star review was definitely well earned and I would recommend RPI to anyone who is looking to rent.
I have had a great experience with RPI. We worked with Kristy and she is absolutely amazing. She helped my roommate and I find the perfect home in a great location in Lawrenceville. Ive already recommended her and the rental company to friends looking for places in the city. She was very helpful and went above and beyond, meeting us after we got off work and sending us pictures of the property before we went to see it. After the tenants moved out, the company cleaned and fixed up our house, and even had the carpets deep-cleaned before we moved in which was a huge help to us! I highly recommend RPI. Dont listen to the one-star reviews...they were probably just bad tenants in the first place.
Fair warning of this place, you will have little to no issues until it is time to move. I had the typical issues (things left by previous tenant, doors left unlocked after maintenance came, pulled up carpet left in garage for months) but nothing too bad in my opinion. When I made clear I was moving, everything changed. Chuck, the owner, was unbelievably rude. They tried to charge me fees for having my washer/dryer still in the home after I verified with the front desk that would be fine. Apparently it was not and they decided to charge me per day. I went back to the office and spoke with him telling him what happened and it was never a problem moving it, I was simply given misinfo. He tells me I dont care what you were told, Im telling you now. There was never an apology, never an acknowledgement of wrong-doing, nothing. I will never rent from this company again and I advise anyone who is interested to look them up on the Better Business Bureau.
If I could I would give them no stars there very unprofessional they lie to you. They are just out there to take your money I talked to several people who rented from them and they Said they will never rent from them again the people say they have a policy but there own workers don’t even know there policy’s lmao BEWARE of these people!
I hate this rental company! Chuck the owner is rude and will talk down to you like hes better than you. They lost my rent money and tried to say I never paid when I did and when I told them to check their security cameras they refused. This company is very shady so beware if you plan on renting from them.
Luckily my experience with them was short lived. They are very responsive and nice whenever they can get something out of you. But as soon as I gave them the application fee I heard nothing back, even though I was told Id hear back by that afternoon. Three days later I called several times at different times of the day and also sent an email first thing. No one answered or replied, until I called from a number that wasnt my number they had on file. Thet knew immediately that my application had been denied but just failed to tell me. And after asking if I could be given a reason why they told me theyd find out and get back to me. Three more days and nothing. Waste of time, waste of money, I highly reccomend digging past the persona these people put on when you first meet.
Slum lords. No new anything. No one fixes anything. You dont get anything but a headache. Amateur rental company... and when i bring up the bad reviews they call the customers bad names and blame them...
I HATE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THE WORST EVER, THEY DO NOT UPDATE OR FIX ANYTHING, THEY WANT THERE MONEY BUT DONT WANT TO DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO AND ARE QUICK TO TAKE YOU TO THE MAGISTRATE, MY HOUSE HAS BEEN A DISASTER FOR 2 YEARS AND THEY DO NOTHING, DONT CLEAN THE CARPET, DONT PAINT, DONT FIX WALLS OR FRONT DOORS UNLESS IT CAN BE DONE WITH A POPSICLE STICK. THEY ARE SLUM!!!!! IF YOU RENT FROM THEM IT WILL BE A MISTAKE AND YOU WILL REGRET IT EVERY BIT.
My husband and I rented from RPI for almost 4 years. We had issues from the start such as them not fixing anything that was broken (such as closet doors) and the floors were never steam cleaned when we moved in (even though the lease says they will do that). When we moved in to the person that we signed the lease with lying to us about what all was included. The last straw was when we moved out. For one we never heard back from them for over 30 days of us moving out (in PA the landlord needs to send the deposit back within 30 days) so we called the office about this and a week later we got a crazy high bill from them. RPI did not follow the lease on how they would bill us if certain items were not cleaned. On the lease it states an hourly rate, but when they sent us the bill it was all lump sum items. Plus they claimed that we changed the wall color when neither myself nor my husband changed the wall color. The individuals in the office are very nice, but Chuck is a typical scumlord.
Manager failed to respond to phone calls requesting a walk thru when leaving apartment. overall, apartment rugs were stinky and dirty even though they said they cleaned the rugs on move in day, rather than before moving in. The rugs were soaking wet from the so called cleaning. the rugs were still filthy and stinky. never resolved. Basement filled with water and mud after heavy rains, issue not addressed till health dept. was notified. many other issues went unresolved. They misrepresent facts about the apt. cleaning and vacating, in their well rehearsed efforts to glean additional money from the vacating renter . These people are good at gouging renters and bad at maintaining their properties.
I am still currently living at a residence they own for the last 2 years and will be another 3rd year. theyre maintainence response time is deplorable. it took so long to fix issues that more issues came about from the lack of fixing the discrepencies. i had full grown mushroom coming from the bathroom. their leases state that you must give them a 3 month notice that you will be moving out. 3 months is not a realisitic timeline. most places dont open up that far in advance!! twice now i have tried to move out, but geuss what i cant find anything 3 months in advance. on top of that the landlord is very rude. he had approaced my wife as she was getting out of her car and without introducing himself at all asked. who are you where do you live just awful. im a disabled veteran and with this agency i feel belittled and like im not worth a damn to them. ive been suckered into a contract that i dont know when ill be able to get out of it. just awful people.
My wife and I rented an apartment from Chuck Pupich, the owner of RPI, for thirteen months. When we looked at the place, there had obviously been a dog. The entire living room reeked of urine. There was a dirty cage in the basement. Ariel is the man who works for Chuck, screening applicants. My wife insisted on all new carpets. I told her, in front of Ariel, that the steam cleaning would get rid of the smell, for sure. Ariel agreed - they would clean the carpets, professionally, with Stanley Steemer . We agreed. Next, he explained that we would be paying for water, that it was usually around ten dollars a month. We have three cats; RPI charges $25 per month per pet. We negotiated it to an additional one-time, nonrefundable $750 fee. Then, we signed the lease. We moved in. The carpets had not been cleaned. Not even a little bit. I called Ariel, and he said that they had one of their guys over to spot-clean the carpet. He said that this is what we agreed. That is not what we agreed. This complete and utter dishonesty is how RPI operates at every step. We were told to purchase our own washer and dryer. The old ones sat in the basement for two months until, after over half a dozen phone calls to Chuck and Ariel, they were removed. Then, the doorway was too narrow to fit them down. My wife negotiated with Chuck, in person, and they agreed for a flat $50 fee to bring them down to the basement and hook them up.The water bills started coming in, too - over $50 a month. We didn t know any better - we trusted Ariel. My wife and I are model tenants - never had any problem with any of our past five real estate companies. The fat, miserable women who work in the front office of RPI are horrible at everything. Work order take weeks, and are billed to a repair company which Charles Pupich also owns. The entire situation is fishy. We put in an offer on a house in December 2013 In January, we informed RPI that we were moving out at the end of February. Immediately, we were hit with a $200 fee for hooking up the washer and dryer. I could tell they were fixing to keep the $750 security deposit. Because of this, I did something I had never, ever done: I didn t pay February s rent. My wife called the RPI main office, and Chuck, several times, just wanting to talk about the matter. None of her calls were returned. We were immediately sued. I wrote a check for the full amount to Chuck, when I decided fighting being wronged over the $200 wasn t worth it.Three days until March, we began cleaning. We have never not received a complete and full refund of our security deposit. As soon as we started cleaning, we realized that Chuck or RPI had turned off our gas. At the end of February. It was 10 degrees that night, and we spent the entire time cleaning with bitterly cold water. Chuck and Ariel said there was nothing they could do about the gas, and they didn t explain why it was shut off.I did expect to get our security deposit back - in three days, we cleaned everything and had a walkthrough with both of them. They said not to worry about anything, that everything would be fine, that we did a good job. Chuck smiled the whole time. He seems really friendly. We received an invoice from them saying that we owed them the carpet to being cleaned - $350. They don t clean carpets. $800 for breaking the lease - there is an automatic renewal clause in the contract that Ariel never mentioned. They billed us for repainting the banister. The banister was fine.None of this work will be done. They even charged us for lawsuit filing fees. RPI said they were waiving the additional $800 we owed them.RPI stole our money.Stole.At this point, we are considering legal action in small claims court, as well as reporting RPI to the Better Business Bureau, or the Pittsburgh Housing Authority.Charles Pupich is scam artist. RPI is dishonest, and flirts with the legal definition of fraud. For your own sake, stay away.
Do not rent from RPI - they are dishonest and unresponsive!
