Not only did we get a beautiful apartment in a well kept, historic building, but we got such peace of mind with their staff.Communication is a huge priority of theirs and any broken appliances were attended to as soon as possible. When I was furloughed during March 2020, John Costello spoke with me directly and put my mind at ease with no late fees and a payment plan when I was ready.The only reason we left was for my partner’s out of state job. Again, they were so helpful in making sure the building was show-ready and communicative about interested folks coming to view the apartment and take over our lease. I had a family member on hospice during this process, so my mind was everywhere during the transition, but Costello was great. I felt like it was something I could take off my plate. We’ll miss you and Squirrel Hill!!

During my time in Pittsburgh I rented with Costello Management twice. Both properties were very well maintained, stylishly updated and reasonably priced for the quality. Working with the leasing staff was a pleasant experience; they were readily available to answer all my questions/concerns. The company is exceptionally pet friendly and does not charge additional deposits or fees for your furry friends. Overall I had a great experience leasing with this company.

Costello Management was such a wonderful team to rent from. When I first started renting with them it was the first time I was doing it on my own. I never felt like they were keeping information from me and were always very open and communication was great. There were a few running problems with sink and toilet early on, and I let them know in the super easy to use portal and they had someone come and check it out and fixed the same day. I ended up renting with them for 2 years. If I had a question about anything they would always get back to me same day, in just a few hours or less. The apartment was the perfect size for one person. I later got a cat and they were so accommodating and welcoming of pets. Which is definitely hard to come by without extra fees, etc. The place was a great price considering the location and in very good condition. I would definitely recommend renting from them as it can be really hard to trust bigger companies in the Pittsburgh area to rent from. Great people.

Hands down the best landlord company I’ve ever rented from. The apartment was in top notch condition while also being affordable, which you’d think wasn’t a big deal except for the fact that it is these days. No predatory pet fees plus off street parking available. The maintenance was responsive immediately and office staff was exceptionally down to earth and friendly. Their resident portal was set up way better than other company’s portals, with more payment features and clear design. I was very happy with every aspect and can definitely recommend.

I rented with Costello Management for two years and I would have stayed with them if I had not gotten a new job in a different city. I loved my apartment and was so sad to leave it, as it was my first apartment on my own. We rented with Costello Management (CM) for 1 year in Bloomfield. 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. If I wasnt moving back to Philly we would have renewed our lease. It was very reasonably priced, and our utility bills were also pretty cheap. Plus we got a parking spot in a lot behind the building at no extra cost.The move-in process was pretty painless, place was spotless and CM was quick to answer any questions that we had. The online portal is great for paying rent, getting in touch with management, and submitting service requests. Any maintenance requests were usually handled within 24 hours.We got our full security deposit back upon move-out and I had check in hand less than two weeks later. Everyone I interacted with at CM was friendly and helpful. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in the Pittsburgh area.

We had a really great time renting from Costello for the four years that we lived in the apartment. Management and maintenance were very responsive. Felix (maintenance) was great and whenever something needed to be fixed, he was there to take care of it. When we moved in, our place was clean and in perfect/near-perfect condition. Overall, we were very happy and moved out only because we were looking for a larger space.

We were tenants with Costello for 4 years. They never once raised our rent, they responded to all maintenance requests very quickly, and were there to answer any questions we had along the way. Hands-down the best company we ever rented from in Pittsburgh. Maintenance is extremely prompt; staff is very professional and friendly; they took COVID seriously. They were very flexible about ending our lease one month early when we found a house. And the no extra fee for pets is so great! Honestly, save yourself the headache of other landlords shirking upkeep and being unresponsive and just go with this company instead. We would have rented from them for much longer if we hadnt bought a house.

Lived at one of their properties in West Oakland for 4 years due to its proximity to Pitt, and had a great experience. The only reason I left was because I took a job in another city (and even then, they were very prompt in finding another tenant to take over the lease).They were always responsive to my requests, and the building was always kept clean and well-maintained. The parking lot was always de-iced and shoveled fast - sometimes even while the snow was still coming down. Definitely would recommend renting from Costello, 10/10.

I went from a very poor renting experience in the Friendship area (landlord Julio Pampena - terrible) to Costello management. The apartment was deeply cleaned prior to my moving in and maintenance requests were resolved within 24 hours, always. I loved the apartment, location, and overall experience of renting with this company. I highly recommend any of Johns properties. We recently decided that we were going to buy a house, and when we let them know that would not be renewing our lease they were very understanding and even listed our apartment a month earlier then our lease was supposed to end so they could save us money. They were very upfront on what they needed from us before moving out and even dropped off light bulbs for a fixture that we could not reach, as well as paint to cover up some scuffs in the wall.Cannot say enough good things about this company. Ive rented in Pittsburgh for 6+ years now from a few different rental companies. Ive been with Costello for almost 3 of those years. The landlords have always been responsive with maintenance requests, dont charge you an arm and a leg for pets, and the places are reasonably priced for the quality/size of place youre getting. I think they are also very reasonable if you need to end your lease early. Honestly, Im looking to get a bigger place soon and I will probably try to stay with Costello. They are the best.

Ive rented with Costello Management for over three years, and theyve been consistently excellent. All of my maintenance requests have been answered within hours. The apartment flooded during a storm in my first year while I wasnt home, and the team took care of the issue and cleaned everything up before I was even aware that there was a problem.Theyve been super understanding and helpful with my sudden need to move out early. Easily one of the best property management companies in the Pittsburgh area.

Unbelievable housing management. Only reason I am moving is purely because of my job and switching cities after living here for 14-15months. I was in the 4924 location on centre Ave and it has easily been the best apartment living situation Ive ever had. Its stunning inside, great marble tops in the kitchen. A lot of space for a one bedroom and reasonably priced for the area and size.Management was great, and any maintenance requests I had (there were practically none which is great) were taken care of same day. John is a great guy over there and runs his complexes with care and is extremely fair. If you have the opportunity to live here you should absolutely take it. I had to break my lease two months in to my second term with this place and they took care of finding my replacement so I didnt have to pay a dime for breaking the lease. Cant recommend this apartment enough or the staff behind it.

They allow any dog as long as it’s friendly, which is very rare to find in the city of Pittsburgh. John and his whole staff are very professional but very personable and kind.

We rented with Costello for several months. The apartment was very clean upon moving in. We had a problem with our dishwasher within the first month, and they replaced it within 2 days of the report. They maintained the property well and were very active, but not bothersome in any way. They were very responsive and considerate landlords. We also had to leave our lease early due to job relocation and they were very understanding and willing to work with us. I would highly recommend this rental company!

There are not enough words to explain how fantastic Costello Management has been to me over the years. People are consistently hesitant to seek out new property managers and landlords; please do not hesitate with John and his company. I have rented from John for closing in on 7 years now, and I sincerely can never thank them enough for how they run their business.From my first rental in 2013 to my current lease, there has never been a time where I have wanted to look for an alternative. The few places I have lived under John have not had rent prices rise more than $75 at the very most. In seven years, thats borderline unheard of around the Pittsburgh area.Every maintenance request is answered within 24-48 hours at the most. Before the winter this year, we had our entire old HVAC system removed, a new one ordered, and then installation within a few weeks. Experiences with poor neighbors were alleviated as quickly as possible. No pet deposits required (just keep supply a record of your pets vaccinations and whatnot, and everything is good to go). Security deposits for old rentals were reimbursed within two weeks. The apartments are clean upon move-in. Felix and other members of the maintenance team are outstanding individuals and work incredibly fast to fix any problems.I encourage all of my old and new friends to check out their website/properties. There are a few landlords within the Pittsburgh area notorious for poor customer service, run-down living conditions, etc. and I cannot express enough that John and the rest of Costello Management are the polar opposite. It has genuinely been a pleasure renting from their company. A sincere thank you to John, Ashley, and the rest of the employees. Please check them out!!

No pet fee or deposit is HUGE, youll struggle to find similar deals. My fiance and I contacted them as we were looking to purchase a home, instead of the usual youre responsible for the remainder of your lease spiel, John helped us find a new renter and was very understanding throughout the closing process. Id never rent with any other company (theyre the third company Ive rented with in Pittsburgh and BY FAR the best). I really cant say enough about how great they were.

I rented with costello for 7 years during my time as a grad student in pittsburgh. That length of time should speak for itself, really. They are very responsive, very understanding of any issues, and always sent maintenance no more than a day or two after I reported anything. At one point we had the water pipes totally rerouted indoors so they wouldnt freeze as easily in the winter -- so they really do take care of their properties, not just put band-aids on things. Rent (on our 3br duplex) was hiked only $60 over those 7 years, which is extremely fair. Seek these folks out if you can.
