Agent said we were getting a Tahoe. Went the 3 levels down and no one at the booth or anywhere in the aisles. After about 10 minutes, walked to exit booth where the lady was very curt and said to wait. Finally someone came, did not apologize for not being there, just said go down the aisle for the car... not what car or what slot. Had to keep honking horn to find it. Scratches abs dents all around vehicle and several chips in the front windshield! Tried to write it all down in small sheet and went to exit booth again. Last ride again because we did not know the vehicle number... no where did it state VIN !!!The car drive well and decent mileage. A few tunes the rear camera would be in while driving and was not open.Trying to find return was a little challenge. Man there very nice.Price was good since taxes so much there.

A really terrible experience over all. First, they claimed they would give us a new SUV when we first arrived. We got a 2 year old beat up Jeep with nearly 50,000 rental driver miles. We should have noticed that the rear tires seemed low on air, but thought they had checked it to specification, plus the car wasnt familiar to us. A two hour road trip later and we discovered a slow leak. Called the company and they said we had to bring the car back to PHX or they would tow it but not guarantee we could get back (with our luggage and two kids), or we could fix it ourselves and maybe they would reimburse. Faced with being stuck further than the spare tire is rated to travel (60 miles; we were 120 miles away), we had to get the car fixed---cant drive a family with this safety issue. Brought it into a major tire center and hoped they could plug the tire leak. Turns out it was a sidewall leak. Turns out the other rear tire also has a sidewall leak. So two tires and 120 miles later were back at the airport to hope for reimbursement for a faulty car. Thats it: reimbursement, or we are stranded with a car they should never have rented out. NO REIMBURSEMENT. They call the generous manager who gives us half the cost of the new tires, firm. Lots of take back and forth and 6 hours of airport rental time well never get back. We take it and cancel the rest of the rental. Junk cars, shabby customer service, no responsibility. Dont do it.

Finding the actual entrance was a nightmare... this place is designed for the airport shuttle, not driving in... and this line.... wow... time I will never get back... (wishing I had paid a little more for no line Hertz... next time!) update... I have now been in line for over an hour... Everyone in line is in an uproar after a lady jumped line and the counter guy did nothing about it despite several people demanding that they not allow her to jump line...

The line was extra long. I waited in line for over an hour, they need more employees or more counter space. If I didn’t prepay for the cat I would’ve cancelled my rental and paid a few extra dollars to rent with someone else.When I returned the rental I forgot my charger for my iPhone and whomever checks the vehicle in after I exited the vehicle stole it. I realized I forgot my charger as soon as I got to the airport. I immediately tried contacting the counter but no one answered, so I filled out the lost item forum online. And of course no one turned in my charger. I forgot the cube and cord. It’s a shame you have shady employees working for you. I will never utilize your company ever again.

Stood in line for 1hr when I came to pick up the car I already reserved. Car I was given had a cracked windshield (see pics). Since the return was speedy I gave them 2 stars instead of 1.

I asked for anything but a Nissan and they honored it. They were quicker than other rental agencies in processing my online reservation. Only thing that slowed them down was the card/signature readers. Probably a good idea for them to invest in new ones.

I would have rated this more like a 4.25 than 4. I would rent again. Suggestion is that Advantage publish online the wait times to get your vehicle - similar to Great Cuts barbershops where you can view the current wait times to be served - better - provide self check-in services to avoid this from needing this.This is the 2nd time Ive rented from Advantage for business, and Ive been happy with the competitive pricing and cars.Congratulations for being successful and providing very reasonable pricing for Phoenix, where the costs by the major rental companies were outrageous at nearly 2 or 3 times the cost for the same rental - trying to cash in on the Baseball Spring Training and golf season, and business travel. I was planning to Uber everywhere - but I checked online the day before I traveled and saw this great price and booked it right away.However this rental had a couple of issues:1) OMG! - the line up at Phoenix rental desk! - over 100 feet long - and it took 1.5 hours to get my car. I was late for a business meeting. Fortunately, I was able to reschedule it later in the week. Very frustrating. Yet I could have used that 2nd appointment time for new business opportunity rather than re-tracing my steps with my 1st appointment of the week.There is no kiosk for business people - or others to use to self check in or like National just go to the lot and pickup a car when you are pre-registered with them on their website.I pre-paid through Kayak - on a Priceline deal. I would think this should have been easy to do at a kiosk by scanning the driver license, typing in the reservation number, and credit card - accept or deny insurance, and accept or decline fuel prepayment.There were 4 clerks to serve so many people - they did their jobs well. Samantha was my clerk, and she was very helpful. I told her that my flight home was late so it would be about 9 hours into the next day payment cycle, so she added 19.00 to the bill to make sure I was not charged an hourly late fee.Given the work mountain of work these associated had - they kept their calm and did a great job.The first picture is when I arrived at about 11:00am Monday March 11, 2019. The outside door behind me was about 25-30 feet.At the same line 12:10pm March 11, 2019 had actually grown longer - and now was out to the door in the distance! Other car rental agencies had very little business - seemed like Advantage and competitor Fox (a separate line same size) had had taken a huge chunk of the marketshare with fair competitive pricing.My time to get my car was 1.5 hours instead of 15 minutes. This delay represented about 25% of my flight time from my very early flight from western NY.I got to the car and it was locked. So I had to grab my bags and go to the garage kiosk to fetch the keys. (It was frustrating - I was already 45 minutes late for my lunch meeting).When I checked out the gate to leave the gate representative said it was 3 hours to get through the line on Saturday 3/9/19.2) The car was diesel. Fuel cost of diesel is much higher than gasoline. I pre-paid my gas, knowing that I had no idea how much distance I would be traveling, and may not have the time to find a diesel pump (not that common) to return it full. I will avoid diesel in the past. I would have preferred renting a hybrid or electric car.I own 2 clean tech companies. Diesel is a greater particulate pollutant than gasoline unless its correctly managed by the exhaust system. Driving this VW made think of the multi-Billion dollar fraud case against VW for diesel emission cheating. Even though this car was legal on that score, I felt the brand and the car were not as environmentally friendly. The car was nice to drive - but you can feel a tiny power delay on the accelerator - maybe it was the car weight and size.John

Chose a random and cheap rent-a-car and Advantage happened to be it. Originally chose an economy car but the service man suggested upgrading to something with a little more horse power since we were driving through the mountains, and I’m glad he did because we had a MUCH better experience for only $50 more for our entire trip in a mustang convertible. Service was nice and genuine, quick and efficient.

After reading some of the reviews on this place after booking through Hotwire, I was pretty concerned because they were dismal.When I got to the Advantage rental car area, it was the only rental place with a humongous line.I have to say though, that once I got to the counter and got everything taken care of, everything was wonderful. I got a great car (Chevy Cruze) that had great gas mileage and a ton of bells and whistles so I could hook my phone up to the vehicle and listen to my podcast through the Bluetooth connection. I drove over 400 miles on one tank of gas, and only put 5 gallons in the tank just to be safe and make sure I could make it back to the rental drop-off.Overall I had a really wonderful experience with this company. They had the best prices through Hotwire, and for the value I got I do not regret my decision to book. The hour-long wait in line was not the best experience, but I made the most of it by chatting with the other people who were waiting and in the same boat as myself.Like most rental car places this company does take a $200 deposit in case of anything going wrong. I returned the car with no issues and have not received a refund yet but it has only been a day, and I know these things can take time. If for any reason I have issues with the $200 deposit refund I will update this review.

Worst car rental experience ever!Unprofessional,illiterate and untrained staffLong wait timesNo driving over 250 miles for LOCAL RESIDENTS, even though confirmation email and reservation says UNLIMITED MILEAGE. Lady says “did you read the fine print” I question her ability to read.Returned car at 1100 pm and no body to be found at airport location. I had to go all the way up to find a staff member at the counter as apparently the employee who was suppose to inspect and return the vehicle was out having a cigarette.BEWARE- hidden fees all over

MILEAGE WARNING! If you have an Arizona drivers license you are restricted to 250 miles a day. Any overage mileage is .55 cents a mile. They really need to make this very clear when renting online as the industry standard is unlimited. Sucks to get there and have that dropped on you. I believe EZ Rental (which is at the same counter) is the same with mileage caps. I ended up going to Thrifty.

So far, nothing bad, as I feared after reading reviews.1/4/2019: Customer Service at check in and Car Retrieval were nice friendly and helpful. I waited for 10 minutes in line at check-in, and my car was ready when I went downstairs.I will update my review after returning my vehicle on 1/6/2019.

Check in was effortless and thorough. We received an awesome vehicle with great mileage. Unfortunately I was involved in a vehicle collision halfway through my rental period. The staff on the phone and at the Sky Harbour Airport were awesome with guiding me through the process of exchanging the vehicle. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone interested in rental a vehicle.

The prices are the lowest that Ive been able to find when renting a car at Sky Harbor airport. They always have discount codes online. But if you rent the cheapest car, you can end up with a really nice one or a car that makes a lot of noise (which I was told is normal for that car....) and has difficulty accelerating. Ive gotten both. The staff is usually nice and the wait time varies. Ive been first in line and Ive had to wait 10-15 minutes. I usually reserve my car ahead of time and the price matches what I was quoted (I print it out and take it with me). I definitely recommend them.

Prepare to pay DOUBLE than what you planned. Costs were NOT explained in an honest manner, checking in took FOREVER, while all the rentals for other car companies moved through the line swiftly. FOX did a good job for my other rental - go there.

This place is a joke to work at... within the company or 3rd party. They expect you to be a professional detailer and at minimum wage with no supplies and spray bottles full of water and dirty cloths! Hahahahahaha.Stay away!! Better jobs out there.

I did not have high expectation, However the agent help me was very friendly and helpful. No pressure to buy additional insurance or gas from them. The line was moving relatively fast. From the time i got there till i checked out the car took me about 25 minutes. So far so good with Advantage Rent a car.

Dear Ken at the Counter of the Phoenix Car Rental Location,I did not appreciate the long, hot line my Mom and I had to wait in to speak with you. I do understand this is not your fault because of the time of day and major events happening in the area, so this is forgivable, but still not appreciated.I do appreciate the kind way you greeted us and the mild manner you used to explain why our expected price through a third party suddenly doubled at the counter. I also appreciate that you took the time to come up with multiple, cheaper options for us because, due to a move out-of-state, funds were running low.I absolutely do NOT appreciate that when we told you it was still not affordable due to unforeseen charges (again, not your fault, I understand) a switch was flipped. You began to berate and belittle my mother and myself because you sat there and put in TWO codes for [us] and gave us such a great deal and we were just going to walk away?? There are long lines and youre just standing here shopping around? So, not only am I now uncomfortable that I cant suddenly afford $100 more than I expected, I am being made to feel stupid for wasting [your] time as well as all the people behind [us]. No. You do not treat people like that, Ken. My Mom was so nice to you and the fact that she was there is the ONLY reason I didnt blow up on you right then and there. That, and I have some self respect. I rented a car for 4 days from Advantage back in November 2019. It ended up costing me $256 because of a $100 ($25/day) “underage” fee. The original booking agent told me it would be $25 for my ENTIRE length of my rental. When I picked up the car I tried to explain that to the man at the counter who informed me he would be charging me $190 instead of $115 as the original agent told me. I really had no other options because my car was in the shop so I agreed to the additional $75.They also charged me a $49 refueling fee when I had put gas back into the vehicle before I returned it. I can without a doubt say I returned the car on Full. They never had me sign anything saying I brought the car back and they were charging me fees. The first time I rented a car from this company, it was for 1 day and they had me sign something when I returned the car saying they weren’t charging me any additional fees. I also never received an invoice upon return of the car, leaving me only with my original rental agreement that stated my cost would be $190.When I called the company to dispute the additional charge, the lady was extremely rude and unhelpful. I ended up sending the original rental agreement to my credit card company when I decided to dispute the issue through them because Advantage was of no help. I was sent back an invoice from my credit card company stating I had been charged for the gas (a month and a half after the fact) even though the Rental Company never told me this and I didn’t agree to these fees because I had refueled the car.Safe to say I will NEVER be using this company again. They enjoy ripping off people and providing no evidence as to what the fees being charged are for. Again, I only received explanation of the fees a month and a half later THROUGH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY.The staff are untrained, unprofessional, and unwilling to help. If any of my friends or family request my advice on where to rent a car from in Phoenix, I will surely tell them “ANYWHERE but Advantage Rent a Car.”

Happily there wasnt a line to get a car at Advantage whereas their neighbor Fox rental had a 40 line with one person at the counter. I estimate it was at least a 30 minute wait at the other place so I was happy to walk right up to the Advantage counter. The service was friendly and when I decided to change cars once we got to the parking lot, they were happy to work with me.While I was getting the different car a customer pulled up and I couldnt help but over hear her. She was upset because something had happened to her car rental car and would now be late to her destination. She was understandably upset. These situations arise with any service oriented business so I was curious how the rep would handle it. She remained calm as she listened and then did what she could to help.All in all I would rent from this site again.

Had a Hyundai Santa Fe for four days starting 9/7/19. The car was fine. Made the reservation weeks in advance online, but when I got to the counter, the contract they presented had higher taxes and fees than they had presented when I made the reservation. I had to persist in insisting they honor the prices on my reservation, and the clerk eventually got his manager, who made an adjustment. This is the reason for only three stars.

The line was short and the customer service representative was really nice. My car was nice, new and smelled good. The one thing that frustrated me was the charges were not explained very well. I was charge a huge amount that I didnt understand or I wouldnt have agreed to it. Things that I thought were a one time charge were daily charges that added up very quick

I had made a reservation a week and a half before my departure. Everything had been paid for, taken out of my account, all confirmations were given., Thinking everything will go smoothly. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I noticed the woman in front of me was having some issues with communicating correctly with the gentleman at the desk. I thought to myself, its probably just a bad customer, Im giving the sales guy the benefit of the doubt. Wow, I was wrong. This man continued on his lack of communication. I treated the man with respect, while he just gave me short answers, basically blowing me off. He stated he needed a credit card. I informed the gentleman, the vehicle has been paid for, and they can use my debit card to place on file. He then asked where did you even rent from, in a disgusted voice. I had provided the screenshot from my device to show everything was completely completely. He stated, he needed to just call and see if Im lucky, Ill get a refund. At the end of it, I was never released a vehicle, just drove 55 miles to miss my trip. Now I am set back on time, and majorly rushing to complete my task. I highly recommend this company re-evaluates their customer service agents at this facility. They had no sense of urgency or compassion.

Just awful.We arrived at night to find there were no cars left, even though we had prepaid. I understand how this can happen, but shouldn’t they have tried to tell us by email or phone before we showed up? Anyway, the three staff just stood there lamely. We were told to come back the next morning, and that our Uber or taxi would be covered only up to 15 miles away. The following morning we called Advantage to confirm there would in fact be a car when we showed up, but the agent said that they had no ability to contact local branches. Yes, you read that correctly. This company is unable to communicate with itself! We were told to simply go to the office again and see what happens.No company should get away with this kind of behaviour and incompetence. Vote with your wallet and take your business elsewhere.

Location- Phoenix Sky Harbor....My best suggestion would be AVOID renting from Advantage. They are very misleading. You think you are getting a good deal but once you get to the counter its a completely different story. First of all their customer service is not very good at all. They are not very welcoming and seem like they have all the power and treat you that way. They rent the car stating you have unlimited miles but once you get to the counter, you have to PAY for unlimited miles or you just get 250 a day period. Once they have you there, you find this out. Then if you dont accept the unlimited they they act you did something wrong. And they only have ONE little plastic sign that states that so all the agents have to share that one sign. They have to share the credit card machine so you have to wait for the other persons transaction to be done. Once you get down to the vehicle area you have to check in AGAIN just to get your key and look the car over yourself and make sure you dont get blamed for any damage to the vehicle. Ours was all banged up and kind of embarrassing to rent but we were on a time crunch we couldnt change anything. It seems like a fly by night rental agency and I definitely wouldnt use them again. Beware.

Made sure to call in advance to make a reservation for a car. Plane landed and we headed to car rentals just to be told they dont have a car for us. Its now 2 a.m. and we are stranded in the middle of Phoenix despite doing everything we needed to so we could avoid this. 1/5 stars and would give them 0/5 if I could. Not impressed. Make it right.

The first car we got was missing a hubcap & had no working interior light. The second car they gave us had low tire pressure. The third car was fine until we discovered later there was windshield wiper fluid. We bought some ourselves but when we put it in, it would only take a little (1/4 cup). After many tries there was still no working windshield washer fluid. If you want a complete checked out car, don’t rent here.

Went there twice while renting car in Phoenix4 stars for place is clean and accessible from the airport. There are small busses to take you there. Maybe 10 min. Drive from the airport.there are different car rental companies . Last year we had a car from Advantage .this year Alamo had lower prices. Take your insurance instead of theirs. Call your insurance and ask about using your own insurance . You could save some money there. I had all set - car size, air conditioning, unlimited mileage.I gave them only 4 stars for trying to get more money out of you.First they will tell you to take extra insurance for sand storm damage or anything like that. That’s $200 extra. Trying to convince that will give you a peace of mind. Second ( they got us on it) to charge you ahead of time for gas that you can fill out before you return back your car.so we paid extra like $40 for gas.we had 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 7 days $440 I believe. Return is easy . Just come back to the place return key and go up for bus to airport.

At pick up was I was told paying $35 bucks to be able to bring the car back on empty was a great deal considering gas prices in the area. Yes, $35 total with no extra fees they told me. I was surprised to see a $52 dollar charge for gas on my bill (plus an extra $7, I still can’t figure out what for). I called customer service and they said the $52 included taxes on gas. Fortunately, the customer service agent gave me a discount to make it right. Don’t fall for the bait and switch!

Car was clean and all was fine for a good price. I got an upgrade because the compact was not available. For that alone I would have rated it higher.The online reservation was problematic as I got charged three times and was not able to cancel two of them for fear of eliminating the reservation. I will have to deal with it through the credit card company after the trip.

If I could give this company a negative star I would. This is the absolute WORST company I have ever used. The fees are absurb and the car that was given to me was junk. It was all scraped up on the one side. It was the most basic car Ive even been given when renting a car. The customer service was worthless. It is a joke that a company like this even exists. Im disgusted with the whole experience. This is for the Phoenix Airport location.

I rented a car from advantage for one week. i booked it a few days in advance. when i arrived around 7 PM, i did not get my rental car until 7:50ish PM. the front desk was a bit slow because there was only person, but he was very kind and friendly.i got the cheapest, smallest car. it was a vw golf that only ran on diesel -- this was a bit annoying to me at first, but, overall, it was not an issue. the car was clean and tidy. there were no cosmetic damages. the car had a few minor problems while driving it; however, it was nothing important enough to make me try and get it fixed. for example, a plastic part of the undercarriage came off while i was driving and scraped the ground. i had a friend (a mechanic) look at it and he said it had fallen off once before and that it had been taped. we zip tied it in place and that was that. another issue was that the glove box didnt close all the time.the return process was seamless and easy. the man working there was very friendly.while this certainly wasnt the best rental car experience i have ever had, it certainly wasnt the worst.

I waited nearly 90 minutes in a line that started with nine people in it! The computer system at Advantage is painfully slow, and one of the two agents on duty spent 30 minutes trying to up-sell a customer who wanted to have every vehicle type explained to him. The agent shouldve gracefully let the guy know he had people waiting and they needed to make a decision.Upon finally getting to the counter (in a space that is shared with Fox Rent A Car (whos line had 60-80 people in it) and getting registered, I commented on how slow Advantages computers are - they are painfully slow when checking in. The agents comment was at least youre not in Foxs line. Seriously? After waiting 90 minutes, that is your level of care? Goodbye Advantage, until you train your service people and update your system to whatever the other rental agencies are using!To add insult to injury, once I got down to where the keys are doled out, there was another line for keys that took about 10-15 minutes to get through. Advantage, you really need to get your business model figured out or the other companies are going to bury you!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! This rental company has the worst customer service ever!!! I reserved a van online for 4 days. When I went to the airport to pick it up with the hard copy of my reservation they said they did not have any mini vans available, and then tried to rent a economy for the same price of the van. Can you believe this! It gets better, they also wanted to charge miles on top of it, when the written contract stated unlimited miles. When I started to complain that this was unacceptable, all of the sudden found a van for us. The guys that worked there could not care less about us, and showed it in their bad attitudes and how they handled the situation. I would STRONGLY suggest not to book anything from this untrustworthy company. We were stressing our whole vacation about being overcharged for miles, or whatever else they wanted to change or tack on. None of what they were trying to change or charge us for was in writing on the contact. We read the whole thing.

Booked our trip with Presidents Choice Travel which was a mistake. We asked to add a driver when booking they told us we would have to do it when we picked up our car. Waited in line for at least a half hour to find out they didnt have a Camry which we booked with PC. And asked to add the driver we got told we could get a two for one deal. Ha con artists! They had no car for us! Tried to give us a gas guzzling 4x4 Toyota 4 Runner. When we found out how big it was we had to go back up stairs,again and tell them it was too big then told us all the had was a Caravan, we told them no. After refusing this they told us they had nothing left but a Ford Titanium. By this time we had wasted over 2 hrs of our Arizona holiday. We settled for this SUV and ended up being over charged because Advantage didnt have the car we reserved. We agreed to $331.05 for a Camry and fee of $274 89 US was to be paid on arrival.Gas was to be included in this. DONT LET THEM CHARGE YOU FOR GAS! Read the 60 page agreement they also tried to charge us another $300plus for insurance. Rip off!! I ended up being charged an extra $443.50 for a car I didnt want. Thanks Advantage for the awful start to our holiday in Arizona. NEVER AGAIN PC TRAVEL OR ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR

One of the worst rental company!Very rude people at the desk- very forceful to sell their tank of gas - even lying “ it’s 4 $ per gallon outside and it’s is 2.78$The guy got physically mad when I said that I don’t want it. Eventually forcefully made be buy it otherwise he would make me wait!He was harassing another uniformed army office,In the same way with Scare tactics to sell their insurance, who was renting before us in the line.It just shows upper management is promoting this nonsense to make money on the rentalStay way and Beware of this company

Very slow service. VERY slow. Almost an hour to rent a car. Would pay double to not ever rent from them again. I wish I could give negative stars. Reading through other reviews this is obviously a regular problem. Many of the other reviews that look positive are also obviously fake. Spend less time writing fake reviews and more time fixing your business. Pitiful.

I agree w/most other reviewers here - BAD EXPERIENCE! The people at the counter in Las Vegas are so rude and have a I could care less attitude. I asked to speak to a mgr. about problems w/the car, and he made me wait over 1/2 hour before he came to counter with no one there checking out a car. I wandered thru the parking lot only to find him chatting w/another counter rep in the parking lot screwing off. He treated me with total disdain and complete disrespect. The car had issues like the tire light coming on as well as other problems. I wont rent from them again. Their customer service reps on the 1-800 line are just as bad. They talk down to you like youre a piece of garbage there to serve them and disrespectful to customers who drop a lot of money. Find somewhere else to rent from and save yourself the nightmare.

Picked up the car at Phoenix airport. Car was not clean windows and rear view mirrors and rear of car dirty. The attendant at the checkout booth had to clean the mirrors and windows. The experience wasnt as implied from website description. Dont know if I will recommend or use Advantage again.

What. A. Disaster. I wish I could have given 0 stars and I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way about any place I’ve ever been to. We went to go pick up our car, and they told us they have limited selection left. They gave us a Volkswagen Passat, which was great because my husband was already used to driving that kind of car. We went north to go visit family in Flagstaff and, thankfully, we were only visiting for the weekend. As we were out and about, our engine light went on. Okay, no big deal- however, at one point the engine started to overheat. Freaked out, we returned to my family’s house. My husband called advantage and they asked us to return the car. We explained that we were 2+ hours away and We didn’t feel comfortable doing so. We asked if they could send a tow to pick it up. They told US to pay for the tow truck to bring it back and transferred my husband to a towing company ($600+ tow!). We were concerned that we were going to get stuck on the road and they kept misunderstanding that we were ACTUALLY stuck on the road. Needless to say, the car cooled off and we were able to drive the car back safely. We will never be using them again as they gave us a faulty car and did nothing to help us. We ended up missing a dinner with my family and their friends because we were on the phone for over and hour and missed our reservations. Beware of the car you receive.

Its tricky picking up your car at the airport as its such a busy and congested area. But they seem to make everything work out and run smoothly. I got a great ride (Jeep) at a great deal! And I would recommend these guys to any1 that is in need of a rental and @ Sky Harbor Airport!!

I wish I could rate this rental car service negative stars. Advantage illegally posted funds to my bank account for a previous renters tickets. They sent me the violation post facto AFTER they took the money from me. The violation was received in Beverly Hills, CA the day my car rental started. Meanwhile, I rented from PHOENIX AIRPORT for a wedding in Scottsdale, AZ I was in town for. I could have never gotten this ticket, but the Advantage representive treated me horribly and denied my request to speak to a manager. I will have my lawyer reach out to Advantage to settle this matter seeing how I couldn’t resolve it with one of your representatives. NEVER renting from you all again and will make sure I tell all of my associates to avoid your company and your horrible service at all costs!

I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD! I had my car booked for more than 30 days prior to pick up. I get to the counter and the girl says were out of cars. I told her I have a confirmation number but she keeps saying shes out of cars and it doesnt matter. What kind of RENTAL CAR is OUT OF CARS?! On top of that she refused to give something in writing in order for me to get a refund. Luckily the third party booking was able to contact them and refund me entirely, but this is far beyond upsetting and the most horrendous service Ive ever experienced. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! I wish I had seen these reviews prior to booking, because I never pick someone with less than 4 stars. They should lose money and not even be able to have a booth, and PHX airport should be the ones to do something about it.

JUST A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!I rented a car at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Immediately, I was greeted with excellent and expeditious customer service. I was provided with a full size 2018 Kia Optima (white in color- which was a nice touch considering the heat in Arizona! Thank you Tara!) Unlimited miles. The vehicle was in pristine condition, low mileage, and smelled like it was just driven off the lot. It was examined by staff prior to my departure and I had a full tank of gas. Returning the vehicle was an equally speedy and painless experience, and after checking off the level of gas, and condition of vehicle, I signed a paper acknowledging the terms of the contract. I received my deposit of $200 in less than 24 hours without incident. All I can say is review the contract terms, be confident in what it is you are looking for with your rental experience, and voice that. I would like to commend Tara for a job well done. Tara and team allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worry. We will be repeating our business with Advantage Rent A Car.

Arrived early morning at PHX, so no wait. Agent sold me on the company gas fill up on return. $2.12 a gallon. Who wouldnt turn that down? Turns out that after returning car with only using about a quarter tank, I was charged for the whole full tank fill up. So, I ended up paying about $5.50 gal! If agent had explained to me to bring the car back empty, I wouldve known that I wouldnt have been using an entire tank and wouldve refused that service. Bummer! Ok, now the story of the picking up the car. I went downstairs to get the car. After opening the door, I was treated to the fragrance of some strong stink weed. I ordinarily wouldnt care about this except I can imagine what I would go through if I had been pulled over by law enforcement. So, I asked for another car. The next car had the same problem, but not as bad. So I accepted and went on my way. Then upon returning the car I was in shock when they presented the total cost of the rental. It was nearly double to what I had reserved the car for. I went to the kiosk downstairs to speak with the agent there about the discrepancy in cost. He told me that when I changed cars that the fuel service hadnt been transferred to the next car. He told me that I could take the car back and go to a gas station nearby and fill it up. This would rectify the in house fueling cost. Yeah sure, I have to catch a flight and dont have the time to go out and find a gas station. He reduced the fee by $20 but I still paid $40 more than the reserved price. Needless to say, this was a horrible experience that I will never have again, because I wont ever do business with Advantage again.

Long lines with a wait time that took almost 45 mins.An upgrade from 2 door hatchback to 4 door sedan was almost double in price the original reservation ($14 a day upgrade) just to get a Hyundai Elantra.The tech for the keys never left his seat. Instructed that the inspection was to be done on ones own with the form in the car, but no pen to write with.The only tech that was helpful was the one as you leave the garage who helped fill out the appropriate documentation.Would never recommend this place.

I was charged $275.00 when I was told that I would be charged for a $200.00 deposit. Then I thought I would need to extend the car for one more day they charged me another $170.00. I did receive the $200. Back but almost two weeks later still waiting for the refund of my money. I n will never use nor recommend Advantage Rent A Car to anyone. Also tried to get me to buy stuff I didnt need also didnt give me the vehicle I asked for. Customer services ducks.

We reserved a fuel efficient vehicle for our trip a month ahead of time since we knew we were going to do a lot of driving. Once we got to the counter the agent said they had an suv that got almost as good of gas mileage I said we’d rather have our car we reserved but sure. He then printed a piece of paper for me to sign and when I looked it said it was $130 upgrade. I said um no you made it sound like it was the same price. I told the agent we would like to stick with the fuel efficient car we had already paid for. He proceeds to tell us they were out of cars. So he tried up selling us a vehicle because he knew they didn’t have what we reserved. He said the best he could do was upgrade us to a van for the same price which only got 21 mpg . We are super unhappy with the customer service we received and the fact we spent double on gas mileage our whole trip.

We rented a car from Advantage, and the entire process was seamless. If youre someone who loves to spend a fortune to rent a vehicle, Advantage is not for you. However, if you want a late-model, clean, well-running car for an unbelievably low price, Advantage is your go-to rental company. All working were efficient and did not try to over-sell. Lines were long (45-60 min wait) due to specials that obviously worked as few customers were elsewhere -). I have used Advantage before in Phoenix without backup and in San Diego. Whereas I had a low mileage car in SD, the one today had 42,000 Miles. Still was nice car. Price was great. Worth the wait! NEVER again. Doing you a favor, do not rent from them!! Worse rental experience ever. They nickel and dime you for everything. I was told I could not have a standard SUV that I paid for because I lived locally?! I had to take a minivan! I had to buy miles! I had already waited in line for an hour, only 2 agents on duty! My day was already ruined as I was now going to be late. My minivan was disgusting and dirty inside and out, see pictures. It was not even vacuumed! I tried using the wipers to help look put window and there was no fluid. Do NOT rent from this place you are guaranteed nothing but dissatisfaction!! They wouldnt even return hotwires call to fix this.

I booked the car well in advance. I waited in line for over an hour. During that time, one employee threw up his hands and walked out, and one left to take a personal call leaving one person behind the desk. There were only 6 people in front of me, and it took that long. Once I got to the desk, a different person was there who didn’t know how to work the system. So, it took 20 minutes to go through the process to get my keys, only to be told I had to pay a $200 deposit after I had already paid for the car in whole earlier in the week. Then, the credit card machine wasn’t hooked up to take the ridiculous deposit, so I had to wait for the other person to start the process all over again. After I inquired, quite matter of fact but still polite, why they couldn’t just use the other cc machine but keep the reservation active, and I was told to have patience...after over an hour at this point. I will NEVER use them again!

Flew the wife out to Phoenix and decided to give Advantage Car Rental a chance. BIG MISTAKE! The wife misplaced her charge card so I gave her mine. Same card, same account number. They wouldnt except the card because it was my name on it instead of hers. All the manager, Richard, had to do was call the 800 number on the back to verify that she was on the account, he refused. He could of put it on speaker phone but refused even when I called and talked to him. He said no can do, then hung up on me. Called the corporate office and they said I had to deal with Richard. What a joke!!! Do yourself a favor, stay away and stick with the big rental companys.

The time it took to rent a car was 50 minutes long. There were 6 people in front of me, so no reason for that. There is a lot of pressure to up-sell from telling customers they won’t fit in a compact car with they’re two pieces of luggage, to buying they’re insurance. Not to say it’s a bad idea, but the way they force the sales and try to scare you into them is in poor taste. The reps there also bickered quite a bit with the reps from other rental company right next store. Overall the time it took would never make me go back.

Renting with Advantage was the worst experience Ive ever had renting a car. Wish I could charge them for the 2 hours I lost in my travel due to their bad practices. From the unnecessary long line to the careless demeanor of the desk staff to even seeing the copy-and-paste responses on the Google Reviews of this thread... this company needs a total reboot. Though this incident happened in Phoenix, Arizona, I can see these issues persist in multiple locationsWithout boring you, just note these items: (a) the cost of my online reservation more than doubled in cost; (b) the man returning his car who was in front of me was complaining they overcharged him as well; (c) there were about 6 people in line and it was about 45 minutes to get to the desk.Save your time, your energy and your money and go next door to Dollar Rental if youre in the Phoenix, AZ.

Reserved a car online for 11:00 am. Get to advatadva and there is no drop off point at the agency closer than 200 yards. I get to the desk and they inform me they are out of all economy and compact cars. I must wait or upgrade. BS.so I wait 20 minutes I go to pay for the rental and then I am informed the insurance I purchased online is not through advantage. Fine, then the $200 reserve on my card is rejected because I use a debit card. I am informed that no one in this building takes debit cards ... Unless you have a return flight booked. Well Im local so now I have been rejected on multiple levels and at no point was this an easy or pleasant process. I would happily pay more somewhere else than this. Telling every one I know .

Really Horrible. All they had when I arrived (after a reservation well in advance) were VW Jetta models - diesel one and all. The first one looked dirty at first, but o was in a hurry. Then after I was out of the parking garage I could hardly see out the windshield. In addition the tank want full as they had marked it, so I turned back to get a different car.The attendant didnt seem to care much and blamed the less than full tank in me because I was supposed to check it before leaving, like they had no responsibility. But he gave me a different car and, gee, didnt even charge anything for the first one. Want that considerate? The second car was also dirty, but the guy at the gate was nice enough to wipe the side mirrors so I could see.Ill never use this place again. Other Advantage location arent this bad.

Friendly people, but they had technical issues with several places (the check-in when I returned it didnt have internet to check my car in, and the lady at the booth that he sent me to didnt have a functioning printer). Like most rental car companies they lay on the thick high pressure to buy all the extras when you are picking up the car. The car was great, but the ancillary experience around it merits the mediocre rating.

Location was incredibly busy. 20 people waiting in line and only 2 agents helping people. Waited almost an hour just to get to the counter. Agent at the counter was fast and efficient. I would suggest having more agents available to help customers. None of the other rental car agencies had lines as long as Advantage.

I rented car. Guy at counter said I could cancel insurance within 24 hours to give me time to call my insurance to see about my coverage. Called customer service line was on hold forever. Guy on phone said I could not cancel over phone and put in a request. He said they would get back to me in 24 hours. Totally unacceptable. Now I have to decide if I should waste a vacation day to drive back to rental place to talk with guy at desk. Don’t do it.

Just arrived at the rental car center in Phoenix, AZ and I was informed that there was going to be an hour and half wait until the next available rental. I told the rep that I would like to cancel immediately then the service rep, comments shortly after with “I’m so sorry, you can go next door to Dollar and they might price match for you.” I responded with, “no thank you! Business must be very good.” After that she rolled her eyes and said “no it’s not...you didn’t seemed to care enough anyway.” In my opion this location doesnt even deserve a star! Also, if this is their customer service work ethic then customers will be very more than happy to do business someplace else!

Avoid at all costs. The car I reserved was not clean and the tank was 3/4 full. I mentioned this to one of the reps, but upon returning the vehicle they tried to charge me ELEVEN dollars a gallon to fully fill the tank. Thankfully I had time to leave, refill the tank and return.As others have stated, they try and hit you with tons of extra fees when you return the car. For example, there is a $25 fee per day for DECLINING the insurance? Go with a real company and you will end up saving money.

This was the worst car rental experience we ever had. We arrived in the early hours as our flight was delayed. There were no cars available in Phoenix when we arrived and the crazy thing was that the employee in the office did not have authority to do anything which was maddening and also very unfair on her. She couldnt offer us a refund and said we would have to wait until the manager arrived in the morning. She ended up helping by finding a smoke damaged Volkswagen Diesel that was near empty on gas but at least we could get to the wedding the next day. She left a note for the manager to call and offer us a refund. We never heard from them

Slowest and longest line. Expect 30-40 minutes waiting on a fast day, longer on a slow day. When I got down to where they hand you the keys the guy at the desk clearly didnt want to be there and just pointed me to the car and didnt tell me that I had to fill out the inspection form by myself. I came back and asked what to do and he said fill it out but then didnt tell me that there was one in the car already and no pen so I had to walk back a third time. This whole process took me a little over an hour. Ridiculous. No respect for your time. The last thing you want after a long flight is to speed an hour trying to pick up the rental.

Had never used this company before, but was pleasantly surprised. Except that the check in was a little slower than I would have liked, the agent was professional and pleasant. Since I rent frequently my check in was quick and painless. Returning the car was also easy and fast.The car I got, a VW Passat was older, but in great shape and quite peppy. It was a Diesel engine which I had never had before.The price was unbeatable, and I never felt uncomfortable about an up sell, or that the car was not top notch.

We waited in line for 45 minutes as the desk was understaffed. Then, though we booked this car rental online WITH insurance, the gentleman at the desk insisted I didn’t have any and offered their lowest rate insurance at 25.99. I didn’t think it was bad until I looked at the cost breakdown and realized he meant 25.99 PER DAY. So what I booked as $148 car rental became a $362 car rental. I only realized this when at the desk where you get the keys for the car. I voided the contract and ended up booking elsewhere. The only reason I give it 2 stars and not 1 is because the gentleman at the keys desk was so patient and helped me to void the contract.

Lined up out the door. Agent there said the people washing cars are too slow so there is no cars in the system to rent. Not what you want to tell a line up of tired people. An hour and 20 min later got a car. Ya it was dirty but it was wet so the people washing the cars may have been the problem. Chip in widsheild was missed as I was told they fix them before sending them out. Good thing was on my inspection form as well as all the photos that I took. Car ran fine and really had no other issues.

My family and I reserved a car here through Expedia and was quoted appropriately $200. When we got to the counter the gentleman that helped us was initially nice and friendly. However with all his deals he gave us... it was over $600! When I told him that was not something we could afford he kept telling us how much money he saved us. It was absurd. We walked out and looked at another company and this man FOLLOWED us and gave us another (slightly) lower price that was still completely out of our price range. We went to National and received excellent customer service from someone who wasnt pushy at all. They also beat the lowest price Advantage gave us by a longshot. THEY now have a loyal customer in us.Super disappointed with the entire experience with Advantage. We will not be back.

If I reserve a particular sized car (compact) I expect Advantage to RESERVE that size car for me. If it is too difficult for Advantage to do the only thing they are in business to do, then give me another car at the same price I reserved. Do not tell me that for only $250 more I can get an SUV. If I wanted an SUV, I would have reserved one. Dont book me at a competitive price and then force me into an upsell or walk away with no car. People go to jail for bait-and-switch scams. Careful! The customer service reps are skillful scam artists and will do whatever it takes to talk you into paying more. That includes being deceptive. In my case I was lured in with a promise of amount you pay, $101. The final bill was $346. Look for an honest vendor.
