I usually never write reviews, but I have to share my experience from coco blue Fishtown location. I received a pedicure and manicure during my visit. While I was getting my pedicure, the woman was quite aggressive with pushing my cuticles back and using the cuticle clippers, she clipped off too much skin on my toe and it starts bleeding - I realize these things happen - but I was sitting there for an extra 30 mins because the cut was so deep it wouldnt stop bleeding. Then, she would attempt to put nail polish over top the nail while I was still bleeding!! Finally, it eventually stopped and I was moved to get my gel manicure. I have no complaints about the manicure service itself however, the next day my hand appeared to have been burned from the UV light - now its blistering and I have red splotches just where it went under the machine. I will never go back to this nail salon and do not recommend it to anyone.UPDATE: My hand is still healing and I’ve received no response from the business.

The technician chased me down after my service to demand that I HAD to tip more than 20% if I was “going to be coming to this salon”since their girls “only work for tips”…meanwhile the technician completely messed up my manicure and didn’t even give me the service that I asked for and didn’t have time to fix it. I chose not to make a scene but to simply just tip 15% instead since I didn’t get what I asked for and was not satisfied to the point of knowing I would have to get them redone. The woman who I can only assume owns the place came up to me and yelled at me in front of everyone. I did end up giving more tip money but was astonished at the lack of professionalism and rudeness especially when I did not get what I asked for.Did this place recently come under new management? I used to love coming here but now need to find a new place.

Got my toes done for graduation & it was an amazing experience! Everyone was so kind & I came once again for my 18th birthday toes & the same thing! Great service I love this place & lovely people!

Arrived at appointment time and was called immediately. The girls were friendly service provided was excellent.

My husband and I got hot stone pedicures today and the service was really great. Naomi and Kaily were our nail technicians and they really made us feel welcomed and the work is well-manicured! Highly recommend them - and don’t forget to tip!

I cannot review their services because when I walked in to see about the wait time I was completed ignored. They had ample staff working, but none even acknowledged my presence. I stood there for several minutes, unacknowledged, then another woman came in who they immediately greeted - so I left.

The first couple of gel manicures were great. My nails were long and strong and the technicians did a great job with the nail art. Then a different woman started doing my nails and she absolutely destroyed them! She filed way too many layers of my nail back taking the gel polish off and was extremely harsh. My nails started getting weaker with each manicure and the nail polish was literally peeling off my nails and my nails were so thin they were bending underneath. I decided to give them one last shot and have my nails cut down to grow them back stronger. She filed one of my nails so harshly I got a blood blister underneath my nail! She didn’t file/shape them after cutting them down so they were jagged and all different shapes. Less than a week later half my nails peeled off and broke. Even though this location is convenient, I won’t be back.

Unfortunately in the more than handful of times I’ve gone to this business I am left disappointed. I’ve had service by nearly all their technicians and they are very unfriendly upon arrival, more so they are very aggressive with both my hands and feet causing me pain and skin breakage. When I asked my technician to please be more gentle she said it was due to my skin. I have tried to remain supportive of local businesses in the area but I will not be returning I am very disappointed with my experience today

On Friday 17 January, I received a lovely pedicure (with paraffin) by a very skilled technician. I was then handed off to someone else for a manicure and dip powder. In all the years that Ive been getting this done, Ive never had worse results. I had a sinking feeling as I watched the woman apply the base coat with an excessive number of brush strokes on even my smallest pinky nails (most manicurists use 3 strokes on even the largest nail - a wide stroke down the center and a narrower stroke on each side). Watching her crush the brush head again and again as she repeatedly jammed it into the bottle solidified my dismay. She then dipped my fingers - almost up to the 1st knuckle - into the huge jar instead of pouring the powder onto my nails and allowing the excess to fall away. A shared container is a breeding ground for potentially infectious microorganisms! Dip nails dont require UV/LED, but into the light machine I went. When she declared me done, I was disappointed to see fossilized dents/dings and brush bristle marks (see thumb picture). Obviously, I said something. So, she filed down a few of my nails and attempted a hasty re-do which didnt exactly improve the situation (see pics 2 & 3). Dips are typically a much quicker process from start to finish. In less than an hour, I am usually the proud owner of a high-gloss, perfectly smooth, full set. Not the case, at Coco Blue. Nearly 90 min later (not including the pedi), not only were my nails still completely jacked (dinged, faded/discolored, nearly matte finish), but I still had blue, hardened powder all over my fingers from above my cuticles & under my nails to my fingertips. I should have asked for a different technician. I should have stayed and had my nails done right. But I needed to go. Now its Wednesday 21 January - FOUR days later, and I lost 2 nails (see pics 4 & 5) just this evening. Powder dips can last 6 weeks - way longer than regular gel. Sigh. $40 wasted (not including tip - & I did tip. Having been in the service industry, I cant just not tip... even when Im disappointed).

This nail salon is clean, spacious, and the staff is very friendly. It was also nice to see that tipping with venmo was an option, since I hate to carry cash.

The service was impeccable I enjoyed my time, however, it is not mandatory to give a tip. Some people only have money for the service and to demand a tip is rude. However, excellent work.

Unfortunately this is one of the worst pedicures I’ve ever had :( Both massage and pedicure was painful. It was sloppy and messy and just felt like technician didn’t know what she was doing overall. Also, when we walked in, there was someone sleeping in the waiting area and it was just weird.

My pedi was very good but my friends it looked like lady was being trained or really wasn’t sure what to do, she was not too happy with hers.

Decided to try this salon as its closer to my house. I will say walking in was highly uncomfortable everyone stopped their conversation to stare at me. Continued to stare as spoke to receptionist and watched me walk over to choose my color. Might be a good idea not to do that to customers. I did enjoy my pedicure. My lady took her time and didnt do a rush job at all. I almost fell asleep in the chair. The leg and foot massage was amazing. Ive never had a foot massage like that before. I love how my pedicure turned out. I did find out you have to come with cash to tip or use venmo to avoid atm fee.

Not one to write a review but I will not return to this place after my last experience. They overcharged me for a gel mani pedi. $90?!? Crazy. I asked for one simple color for both my nails and toes. This isn’t my first bad experience, and I gave them another chance.

Pedi and mani went great, but had my eyebrows waxed for the first time here today and she did an awful job. Uneven, and une eyebrow is significantly shorter .

Amazing place and great people! The salon staff are so friendly and they do a fantastic job. They made my nails exactly how I like them, I have had issues with this in the past so it was refreshing to be listened to. The gel polish I got lasted for well over two weeks! They provide free mimosas or juice (its free theres no reason to complain!!!) And the massages they give afterwards are nice. Its not expensive, the pricing is average of what youll find all around but the place is so nice.

Ive been a loyal customer for 4+ years and they always do a great job. I always recommend this location.

There are so many nail salons in fishtown these days, but this is the one I’ve continued to go back to. The salon is always speaking clean, they almost always have availability and they do a great job on gel manicures and pedicures. It’s a bit expensive, which is the only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars.

The place is clean,they r nice,not gd in Nails i,ask for a gel pedi, got cut,after i watch her just rinse tools out in water i got pedi n pay 65 for a pedi expensive no design witch i didnt care if it was done gd n thats with out mess n no stone what got me was she ask me how.much u going 2 tip not how was it just care about tip which i always tip, but how she ask n the first thing was that,n they dont take temperatures so i got to kiwi now n they r gd n take tem,

Love this place. Only place I’ll go for pedicures. I go to Naomi who is amazing, hoping she’s still there because I know they were closed for a bit. I always make an appointment. TIP WELL AND EXTRA ALWAYS :)

The most pretty unprofessional place I have ever been . The owner talks about the appearance of your nails and feet the whole time time to other workers, catches attitudes when u Have a concern about how your nails and feet are looking they don’t care to much about the customer than demand how much tip you should give ! Absolutely never going back again my nails and feet look horrible even after the uncomfortable Tormenting I had to Endure.

Went for a refill on my dip manicure. Had 3 different people & had to explain 3 times I have a tip and want the length the same. THEY TOOK THE ENTIRE TIP OFF. No one even communicated between different techs what I had told them. All the ladies are Hispanic, I speak Spanish and even mentioned it in Spanish. In the end I said to just leave it and to please paint it clear. They charged me for a manicure and for acrylic removal. I paid and tipped but please know I am not returning. This was my second time visiting since my first time was not so great either but I wanted to support these ladies but seriously, not worth it. I was there for ONE HOUR AND 30 MINUTES for a unfinished manicure?!

I went on December 21, 2017 for a gel manicure and it is the BEST one Ive ever gotten anywhere in PA, VA and PR. Sandra was very gentle yet thorough in prepping the nails. I got a beautiful snowflake design on two nails, drawn on by the owner, and I was blown away. Usually when I get gel manicures they start either chipping or peeling in about a week, but it has been exactly two weeks today and it was still impeccable! I only removed it now because I want to try out a new polish I got for Xmas. Took a friend the very next day for a pedicure and we loved it! Will definitely recommend and return when Im back in Philly!

Only nail salon I will go to. They are like family. They take care of me every time I go in. I have been going here since they opened and the quality has always been great. They have lots of color options and all do a great job.

UPDATE: The last couple times I’ve come here I’ve been disappointed with their service. It’s hit or miss here. Thinking I could avoid all that I’ve scheduled appointments with people in the past only to show up and find out the person I scheduled with isn’t working that day. I’m done gambling on getting a good nail tech and I don’t think I’ll be returning. If you need a place to go get your nails done real quick, come here. They really don’t spend a lot of time on pedicures. I was in and out of the chair in about 30 minutes.The staff is always friendly and it’s rarely busy so I’m always able to get seen right away. Everything is always clean. I get a free glass of champagne with my service and the music they play is upbeat and fun. I always have a good experience here. Make sure you bring cash for tipping. They don’t accept tips with credit cards. An ATM is available on site if you don’t have cash, but it will charge you a $2 fee.

Went in for a toe polish change, and regular manicure. although my nails look great, my cuticles are on FIRE from the small cuts. the woman who serviced me was rough and I though nothing of it until I noticed my thumb bleeding. she applied a green “stop bleeding liquid” which BURNED, and proceeded to polish my nails. I still paid for the services and tipped, but she wasn’t apologetic at all.this is my second time going to this nail salon and my last. the first experience was just okay. many other nail salons in the neighborhood worth your time and money.

Great service for regular pedicure. Regular pedicure is not an express pedicure, so make sure to be very clear on what you want. I wanted an express one, even after double checking with the lady, but she still provided the wrong service.

Loved it! I went with a friend who had a pedicure and I had a gel manicure. Both services were amazing, we both commented how thorough the nail technicians were. Great color selection, very clean environment, and she gave me a free diet coke with a straw! Sounds silly but that was a nice touch. Going back for sure!

I went to Coco Blue this past Sunday (6/10/18 ) only because my regular nail salon was closed. I went in for a pedicure and I must say that this was the best pedicure I have ever had! The person who treated me was Sandra, she was very professional, carried a conversation with me and instructed me on the procedure she was doing. While Sandra worked on my feet, the owner came by to offer me a glass of orange juice and at the same time, she inspected my feet to make sure it was done properly. I was in and out in no time with the best pedicure I have ever had. This will be my place from now on.

Looks nice from the outside, the inside experience though, not so great. Inexperienced nail techs, unable to provide an array of nail services, employees have an attitude, and even what they can do, they do subpar. Crooked nails, got cut and was bleeding. Don’t recommend and won’t go back.

I called to make an appointment and I was told no need for an appointment I can just walk in. When I got to the salon nobody greeted me or even acknowledge that I was there. All the ladies were working and they didn’t even lift up their head and there was no one at the front desk. So I waited a few minutes still nothing. I even sat down to wait for somebody to finish working and come and talk to me. 15 minutes later I was still waiting and I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to come and address my presence or ask what service I was getting done. I was hoping to give this salon a chance because I live across the street and I would’ve become a regular customer but I guess I will have to find a different place for my manicure and pedicure. I wouldn’t recommend this salon, workers are rude.

I needed a Friday appointment and this was the only salon in Fishtowb with availability. I am not a regular at salons and don’t have high expectations, but overall the experience was “meh.” The tech didn’t seem to care about the end result as much as getting you finished and out the door. I had to ask the tech to fix some obvious imperfections with my polish, and in the end my polish was very see-through in some areas. If you have to use them they will get the job done, but if you want a salon experience or high quality results, I would go somewhere else.

Really disappointed with the service at Coco Blue. I will not be returning. Rude staff and sloppy jobs. Also dirty counters, clearly don’t wipe between jobs. The guy doing my nails was criticizing my choice for square nails and then just rushed through it. I get my nails done all the time and get them square and I’ve never once had someone comment on that. He rushed through the whole thing. Didn’t get me to rinse my hands after filing and as a result, there were flakes everywhere. While cleaning my cuticles, he clipped my pinky finger and it was bleeding until I left. (Picture attached. One nail in particular looked uneven in nail polish and I told him about it and he criticized my nails again. It’s not my nail.....you’re RUSHING! And then while doing a forced “massage” if you can even call it that at the end, he pulled my hair as he was quickly hitting my shoulders. I will never go back here again. Oh and also, their gel drying machines don’t work.

Four of us went on Sunday at 4:30pm and our pedicures were excellent! Very calming, very relaxing. The owner gave us the best shoulder / neck massage as we waited for our toes to dry.

Waited for over twenty minutes without anyone making an attempt to address my visit. Including the management / possible owner. Techs were available for service but left me hanging . Even after I asked who was in charge. Sadly the person in charge did not even turn my way to address my request for a gel manicure. Yet they want to charge $35 for a basic gel manicure. The place is a joke. Good luck ! I will not be coming back.

I go here for brows, they do a good job but theyre always asking for a tip. It looks so unprofessional. And I didnt know I was supposed to tip for eyebrows, they already charge alot compared to the other places I been to. So tacky to just flat out ask for a tip

Mimosa tasted like it has rice water in it but appreciated the gesture. My girl was super quick and professional leaving my toes beautiful and soft.

First visit over charged for a gel pedi 55 feet were peeling, nail tech didn’t place my shoes on my feet,They contacted me to because what I paid wasn’t correct, and to fix my feet.Second visit my feet looked good the first day,Second day they are dry and just not how my feet look.Don’t do it. It’s not worth ruining your feet

When I first started coming to this salon, I really wasn’t a fan. But things have changed! They are way more organized and their staff cares. I use Joseline and she’s amazing. I feel bad that I had originally gave this place a bad review but it’s grown a lot and is really nice now.

Stopped in the middle of doing our nails and had my friend and I pay for a full manicure and pedicure before finishing (and refused to finish otherwise). They didn’t do this for anyone else (or me, the last time I came in alone) but said it was policy when we came in. Also, literally chased my friend and I down the street after we left saying we didn’t tip enough and we needed to come back and come back and tip them more. Refreshments (wine and water) offered to some folks and not others, massages offered for some folks and not others. Vastly overpriced. Also, two of my nails were ruined before walking out the door.

3rd time here. Very inconsistent with customer service. Multiple times staff cater to white customers without addressing customers of color when they come and allow them to wait before and it they are greeted. Wine and water offered to some and not others. Won’t be back.

Hit or miss service. I had a decent first experience despite the filing of my nails being slanted. Second time I was treated like a child and not given the same service as the other woman. Left this place feeling skimped and disrespected.

Big, bright, clean and modern are a few descriptions which come to mind. Our first visit for mani and peds was a very nice experience; staff was awesome.

I have been here a few times now and I must say that my manicure always holds up better than anywhere else Ive been. Yes, it is a bit busy and sometimes who is doing whos nails is unclear, but I found the quality of the work itself to be very worth the price.

I’m not sure what is going on here but I’ve been here over an hour after requesting a pedicure and dip. My pedicure was with a brand new person who did not have adequate tools and it Looks terrible. Now I’m sitting here waiting for my manicure while about 20 other people have even helped before me. Terrible.

I paid $100 to get my nails and feet done within one week my polish on my toes and fingers were chipped, that should not have happened especially since I paid for gel polish. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone!
