Amerikick Karate is a great place to learn how to defend yourself. They are very Professional and energetic. Its truly a great place to bring the kids to come too, as they make friends they start learning valuable life lessons while having fun as they do so. All adults are welcome to come as well. I sincerely recommend them.

Im a product of this karate school. I started taking classes at 9, and began junior instructing at 15. I credit much of my confidence, my goal setting, my public speaking, and my collaboration skills to the training this fantastic environment and the staff provides. Also, you wont find a more diverse student population in all of Philadelphia. It is hands down the best extracurricular activity for students of any age, and all abilities.

I attended Amerikick South Philly for over a decade and would still be attending if not for me leaving Philadelphia. Amerikick taught me not only karate but the life lessons that I use on a daily basis! Jason, the owner, is an awesome guy and genuinely cares about each and every student that walks through those door in and out of class. If there is one piece of advice I could give you it would be to sign up immediately!!!

I brought my son to Amerikick and he never looked back. He loved it and would go 4-5x a week until he received his black belt. The staff was amazing and the owner Jason went out of his way to make every day a great experience. I would highly recommend.

All the Sensai is great with the kids. My daughter ❤ it. When I first brought her to class, she was having a mini meltdown but I knew at heart she will fit right in and of course the next time she showed up, she loved it. Everyday she asked is it time to go to Karate. Love that they have specialty week where they can Bring A Buddy or Parent Participation. My daughter loves when I get to participate. Definitely recommend checking them out and signing up your children or even yourself.

Lessons that lasted me a lifetime, both in karate and for relationships. The staff and instructors are extremely welcoming and earnest in trying to understand how best to teach you or your children the curriculum based on your interests! They constantly ask questions and reinforce your knowledge for the karate lessons which I really appreciated. I have met and trained with fellow students during my time that I consider close friends.

I started in July of 2004 and I’ve been their ever since. The classes are amazing, the instructions are top of line. Best of all I’ve made life long friends that I call family. I highly recommend Amerikick south Philly to everyone.

Jason is the best of the best. The other instructors are also wonderful and amazing with students of all ages. Great instructors and a clean and friendly environment! You wont be disappointed!!! 100% recommend.

I visited several different martial arts schools and Amerikick was by far the best. The instructors are respectful of both students and parents. They go out of their way to make sure that the students enjoy themselves while they are learning. I will and have recommended Americk to anyone who is looking to to learn martial arts.

My son trained under the Leadership of Owner Jason Helmer. I was blessed to have found AmerKick, they changed his life. This is an awesome studio with EXCELLENT instructors. I came here in 2011 when I was 11 years old and I just wanted to share that Jason helmer is one of the best Instructors in the amerikick organization. He will push you till you are at your very best. When I tested for my black belt it was very easy because of Jason he made his own test at the South Philly Amerikick and he make it more intense then the actually test itself. The school itself is like a family there especially when special events are going on such as Glowfun Night, Summercamp, Dodge Ball day, Demo Team pratice, and much more. I also highly advise to go to tournaments as well because it can build your confidence by a lot, win or lose you will alway get a medal or trophy depending on the tournament. Not to mentions we have one of the highest win streak in the amerikick organization. I will highly recommend this place for someone who want to build there confidence and increase there knowledge because the lesson you learn in that building is for life.

I cant say enough great things about AKSP! The Senseis are absolutely amazing! My son JM has thrived here & so has all of the Karate Kids! A few of JMs classmates have learning/behavioral disabilities and the work and patience of all the Sensaeis amazes me every time! The progress I see in not only JM-but ALL the Karate Kids brings tears to my eyes! Come check it out-SO WORTH IT!!! The patience & structure & FUN is just incredible! 10 STARS!

This is such a great place for children to enjoy an after school activities! All the sensei are great with kids of all ages. Plus they always have special events for the kids through out the month.

Love it! My 3 year old has lots of energy to burn off and needs a little help with his focusing and discipline before he starts school! So far he’s learning a lot and loves it here!

Great family atmosphere. I have my kids enrolled there, and 2 have achieved black belt, and the other 2 are intermediate level. Sensei Kyle does an exceptional job with the kids. Keep on kicking and punching, ASAH!!

Learning self defense was always intimidating to me at other schools. The instructors here are friendly and their expertise shines through. They teach in a way that makes the moves seem realistic if I needed to apply them in real life. The training drills have really helped my flexibility and execution of the moves. I have also lost a few pounds from going to the classes. The classes are just hard enough to break a sweat but not terribly difficult at the white belt classes. I feel myself getting better instead of getting flustered like at my previous dojo. These guys are also great with kids. They really kick butt. :)

Its a great karate school,at the first time there i was really shy,but when i got to make friends,and get to know others more i got really comfortable there,and i have been going there for four years so far and i am now a red belt and soon about to test for black.They just dont do karate they also have days where we play games for an hour witch is totally fun,also they have summer camps so u can practice more and play games and get an extra stripe on your belt witch is also really fun,and awesome to go to.So if your looking for a karate school for your child,teen,or your self to go to then you should go to South Philly Amerikick,trust me its a cool karate school

My grandson is a student at AmeriKick-Andorra and he loves it! The owner, Sensei Al, is the best in the business and all of the senseis are courteous, dedicated, involved, patient, and excellent with the students--from knowing every childs name to giving them individual attention aside from the group classes, if needed. If youre looking for a martial arts school for your child, look no further because this is it. You would be hard-pressed to find a better atmosphere for your child and best of all, its reasonably priced!

This karate school has been around for awhile and is now under its 2nd owner. The price is right however There are more play days than actual karate learning days during the week but I guess if youre paying for unlimited classes that will be OK with you.

Excellent balance of discipline and encouragement.

I went back to an amerikick studio to see how it changed from 15 years ago. This isnt even kenpo that their teaching these days, what used to be 30 self defense techniques and 6 months of training per belt has been diluted to 3 to 5 techniques per belt level with a month training inbetween. Sadly yet another good Karate system has been changed into a belt grind to get your cash! The head instrctor had no clue who or how the local Kenpo founders came about in the area. Was showing the children class improper form for kicks, letting them hit with their toes instead of instep or ball, no follow through technique which is what Kenpo is all about, and most disturbing was how they were showing the kids inproper floor rolls that could seriously injure someones neck and spinal colum. Its over priced youre not paying to learn a martial art youre paying for a baby sitter for your kids or if youre an adult then youre paying to buy your belt. Theres much better and stay away from belt grinds they just want your money.
