My family started here a year and a half ago. The benefits (physical, emotional and mental) have been priceless. Both of our kids (ages 13 and 11) are part of the leadership team in their age group and my quiet, reserved daughter has gained confidence by leaps and bounds.I have wanted to participate in martial arts since college, and really wanted an environment that we could all participate in as a family. This school, under Ms. B’s leadership has been that place. I never enjoyed sports, or exercise, but I happily come to karate as many days a week as I can! Ms.B is an excellent teacher: she is clear, kind, patient and truthful. She was a former boxer and has spent practically her entire life in karate. She really knows her stuff! Best of all, she encourages us to always be learners and models that herself. Even if we know a move or technique well, we can always improve. My husband and I are on track to earn our black belts some time next year. I am both excited and terrified at this prospect, but I know we are and will be supported the whole way through the process by Ms. B.
Miss B is very nice and my brother intro lesson was great! Looking forward to coming back!
I have 3 sons at Action Karate who have been able to grow their confidence, physical ability, and self control since enrolling! The instructors are kind, thorough, and professional at all times with all of my sons. What I love most about Action Karate is their intention on setting and meeting goals with families. I also love their intention to encourage excellence beyond the mat. I have also been fortunate to almost always get a private lesson when my boys need one accommodating their participation in other sports as well.I would recommend this center to any family looking for a supportive community and an activity to watch your children excel in.
My son has been going here since it opened, and it has been nothing less than a phenomenal experience for him. Action Karate Mt. Airy has built up his confidence and developed his leadership skills. He regularly quotes their lessons of the week, which help him think about tough decisions and circumstances in his own life. And, of course, he has become very proficient in karate as well, developing strength and coordination that has been healthy for his little 7-year-old body. Action Karate is like a family for us. It is full of kind, supportive teachers; loving, respectful youth leaders; and enthusiastic peers. I am so thankful for their presence in our community!
My son and I both take classes here and we (including my partner) have become part of the family that is Action Karate Mt. Airy. Its a wonderful, supportive and fun environment to be in whilst also managing to teach respect for self and others, instilling discipline, hard work and confidence building in all students from the very young to the most senior. I have watched my shy tentative son grow and blossom achieving self confidence, self satisfaction and actively looking forward to leading the class in the student creed and enthusiastically raising his hand in class (much to the delight of his parents). We are very pleased and so delighted that AK came to Mt. Airy.Especially thanks to Ms. B and Mr. Tim for your support and excellence.
We enrolled our son little over a month ago and I have since seen an immediate change in his confidence level. One of the main reasons we sought out Karate for our son was to help him believe in himself. He has not only gained personal confidence, he is more focused, patient, and more considerate than before. I appreciate how attentive the instructors are. You definitely feel apart of a family here at Action Karate Mt. Airy. We look forward to the future here with this group! Family of Kareem Jr.😊
Each year, we try to come up with a fun and new way to celebrate our son’s birthday. I must say that this year, his 6th birthday party at Action Karate really took the cake! First and foremost, I have to thank Rochelle Brenner (or Ms. B, as her students affectionately call her) for being super responsive and accommodating in helping us plan the event. We arrived a couple of hours prior to party time. Our son Alex’s name and picture was displayed prominently on a screen and Ms. B’s amazing staff were already there to work and help set up, decorate, then greet our guests. There was a well-organized program of lively fitness activities and fun martial arts instruction that kept the kids laughing and moving. Action Karate provided delicious local artisan pizza and the cake was ceremoniously cut with a samurai sword!A terrific experience from beginning to end, with lots of compliments from Alex’s friends and our family. Everyone commented on the beautiful, spacious karate school, the wonderful birthday program activities and helpful staff. I highly recommend Action Karate for parties and martial arts instruction!
My son and I both take karate here. My son started first last January, and I’m amazed at the confidence and discipline that he has developed. I started training a few months later during moms train free in May, and I’ve been hooked ever since. The nights we spend there are the bright spots in our week. Our school is like one big family, and the instructors are amazing. Being a part of this family has literally been life changing. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great activity for your kid(s), or something awesome to do as a family.
Our kiddo started at Action Karate Mt. Airy at age four, and is going strong 18 months later. We have been very impressed with the character training he is receiving and the amount of exercise he gets while he is there. He has a great time and is proud of his progress. We also love seeing the bigger kids take on leadership roles and teach the younger kids. This is a little gem in Mt. Airy.
My daughter started at Action Karate 2 years ago and we love it. Shes grown in her confidence, responsibility, and kindness (not to mention her strength!). The coaches are amazing. They go above and beyond every single day. We love it!!
Mrs. G (yep, shes a black-belt) grew up as a karate kid and, just like her, many in her family have their own Pennsylvania-based Action Karate studios. The one-year anniversary open house dance party of the Mount Airy location is August 19, 2018 at 2:00pm. Bring friends and family. Decor is modern, mats are thick and professional. Serious focus on form and fitness, but fun and friendly too. Great programs for kids (starting at age 3), teens, and adults. Hoping my daughter will join me in classes here soon.
Our family has truly enjoyed being a part of this beautiful community. The staff is caring and nurturing and the location is perfect. I would recommend this school to anyone who seeks to learn an amazing art and skill. My son is at an orange belt. He was having trouble with confidence and even bullied, after 5 months in karate its like he is a completely different kid! He is much more capable of dealing with kids and his school and daily life. His overall well being has exponentially increased! Thank You Action Karate. -Bodhis Family.
It was the hardest decision of my life ... even though I always trained and taught and competed in martial arts, I had a good career in journalism and corporate PR. My brother was always the full time martial arts guy. But every time I was in class I found that everything I was working for in my career (good lifestyle, purpose, flexibility to support my family, make my kids proud) I could see it was simply part of daily life for martial arts instructors at Action Karate. What I needed for my family is what I get to help other families experience. Kids and parents training together, improving their family life school life and they’re all actually having time to work out. It’s not just an activity or a job. It’s life change and this is family.
My son’s confidence and self-esteem have improved tremendously since he began lessons at Action Karate. His coordination and gross motor skills have also improved. He loves karate, and never wants to miss. Action Karate is definitely one of the best investments we have made.
My son has not gone there for a month and keep taking 100$ out my account i have to wait a month to get my money i need for my children my son stopped going for a month no charges then today they just take money out my account
I signed my son up with Action Karate Mt Airy around the beginning of the school year (2018-2019), and although weve tried a couple other martial arts schools, this is by far our favorite. This place exudes positivity. The instructors are friendly and respectful to all their students (child or adult) and the parents as well. They are extremely patient with the kids but firm at the same time, so theyre not babying them. And, not only are they teaching self defense skills, but theyre also helping to instill in them life skills that will help mold them to be respectful, honest, hard working, goal oriented, confident and upstanding individuals. It would be nice if theyd give discounts if more than one family member signed up (only thing that holds me back from signing up for adult classes, or a 5 star rating). And, they do make you sign up for a year commitment (like a gym membership). But, its a investment youre making in your child or yourself.
My daughter didnt go yet but I know it the best😘😘
My son and I joined almost a year ago and love every class we take. The instructors are knowledgeable, professional, and sincere in their care of every student. We love out Action Karate family!
There is no way to cancel karate lessons at this studio after signing up. The classes are good for other kids, but not our daughter, and we decided it would be best for her if we cancelled. Now we are stuck paying 180 dollars a month for classes we cannot use until the contract is up after a full year.Strongly recommend finding a different studio unless your kids are older--and youre unlikely to lose your job!
Our son has been studying/training at Action Karate Mt. Airy since a few days after it opened in 2017. After a brief period of typical 3-year-old behavior (i.e. not his best self), my son fully embraced his martial arts training...rather, as much as a 3-year-old could. He is now a confident 5-year-old who begs me to go to Action Karate every day. He has done several tournaments and seems mature beyond his years when he is on the mat. He is also a leader in his every day life and embraces new situations with calm and positivity.I attribute much of this transformation to his amazing teachers at action karate, especially Rochelle Brenner. She not only cares deeply about my son and our family, she feels this way about all of her dear students. You can’t ask for a more compassionate person. Oh, and she is a kick*ss martial artist, strong businesswoman and involved in our community. She works with some wonderful co-teachers, too.People have mentioned the high cost. I’ll say this...you cannot put a price on anything I wrote above. The training is worth it and we make the sacrifices needed for it. The personal stuff...that’s just extra, but it’s standard for Action Karate!
My daughter, who recently turned 4 has been a student since last summer and has become more confident and disciplined in following directions more than she was before, which was already pretty good. She always wants to practice at home and cant wait to go to class to see her teachers, leaders and friends. I almost cried at her first competition because I saw all the work she put in practicing and how nervous she was at prior practices. When the tournament day came she did excellent and I was happy for her to learn what hard work paying off felt like. Id recommend anyone to try out Action Karate for their child or themselves if they are looking for a culture that will help them grow in various ways.
My kids and I love the school’s summer camp. We live in Florida and every summer we come to Philly just to go to the camp. I highly recommend.
Ms. B and Action Karate has been life-changing for my family. My kids have found peace, leadership skills and a purpose. I can’t recommend it more highly!
My family has been attending action karate mt airy for some time now and it’s been a consistently fantastic experience. Would recommend.
I dont know what they teach at this school but I do know for sure that they ruined a 3 yr old birthday party with the managers terrible attitude and threats. The police had to be called because the party was unjustly and abruptly stopped. Whoever is in charge here should learn to talk to adults, work better with children, and not cause a scene in front of a room full of kids with her threatening confrontation! Im still disgusted days later. And still no one from Action Karate has reached out to remedy my family being treated like 2nd class citizens. BEWARE!!!!!
My twins and I really appreciated working with Ms. B on our punching skills. As a former golden gloves boxer it was super to hear her expertise.
I had a great time in class during parents free in January. Its like family there, we love coming. Thanks for having us.
The school is extremely clean, I took martial arts at action karate for years and am ecstatic with the results, Id still attend if I hadnt moved 2,000 miles away
The teachers here are all great and there are karate students of all ages. I like the way they promote lifelong fitness.
Action karate is a great activity for kids and adults of all ages! It’s not just karate it’s a family community
I love that my children enjoys going to karate. They enjoy helping out and showing what they have learned to the younger. Children. Action karate is not just a sport but they are interested in the growth of each student. They are taugh respect, leadership, excercise and thwu have no tolerance for bullying.
