Bad customer service. Constant turnover and no clear communication on member policies. If you are going to work out during any regular time good luck getting any equipment or space. The place gets ridiculously over crowded. Promoted as a luxury gym environment but definitely is not.

I feel very lucky that Philly has a gym like City Fitness - extremely high quality, included classes, multiple locations, and a reasonable price.Compared to the strip mall gyms (hi, Planet Fitness), the fees for City Fitness seem high. But I can say, sincerely, that CF does everything you need a gym to do.Great equipment. Well maintained. Almost overly friendly staff (and sincerely, not just an act). Lots of great classes included with membership. Multiple locations around the city. The outdoor gym for COVID-times? Just a cherry on top of a fantastic experience.Ive made close friends through City Fitness, which is something few friends that go to cheaper gyms can even fathom. Many people reading the reviews are looking for whats the price City Fitness and while I cant answer that (get in early and lock in your fee!) I will say that freezing or cancelling memberships is not the labyrinthine, almost criminal, series of steps that unscrupulous gyms use.tl;dr - You want to join a gym in Philly and want high quality? Go to City Fitness.

I love City Fitness Grad Hospital! I first joined CF about three years ago at East Market as a founding member. Since then, Ive been to multiple locations and tried an assortment of their programs. Overall, I have had a really positive experience with the CF facilities and their staff members and I have really appreciated their COVID response. While I have not done Thrive training at Grad Hospital, I was a thrive member at East Market. The program is great if you need more motivation or help with ideas for your workouts, but it isnt cheap. Its only semi-private training so its likely there will be other people in your classes. A lot of people become friends through the program, so if youre new to the city its a great way to meet people!I primarily use my CF membership to attend classes. You sign up for them through their app, and each class registration opens 25 hours before the class start time. Some classes fill quickly, so I have alarms set to remind myself to sign up for BodyPump. The regularly weekday BodyPump trainer Michelle is a great trainer, but shes very tough so be ready to work! Carrie does a BodyPump express on Friday mornings and thats one of my favorites. Teds Saturday morning class is another favorite of mine, he offers a lot of modifications and is very open to feedback and requests. Beyond BodyPump, there are so many awesome Yoga instructors at CF. The Yoga studio is downstairs and there are cubbies across the hall so you can leave your items. Im also a fan of the Phit Body classes. They arent easy, but they combine cardio and strength for a great full body workout. The facilities are always very clean and well maintained. The only time Ive seen out of order signs on equipment has been for social distancing purposes. The womens locker room is downstairs and nice too! Quite a few showers and lots of lockers. Its not as big as the locker rooms at other CF facilities so I could imagine it would be tricky to get a locker when the gym is busier. There are always clean towels and plenty of wipes for cleaning equipment. This location also has a nice smoothie bar and the hydro massage chairs. The staff is SO friendly! I often pass employees in the neighborhood (outside of the gym) and they still say hello! Its nice to feel so welcome at the gym because I am easily discouraged from working out.If youre considering CF, I would absolutely recommend you check them out!

Warning!I signed up for this gym leaving planet fitness because it’s closer to my place. I was promised this awesome gym with a sauna. Turns out the sauna is not open with covid. I get tricking the customer is a part of sales (especially this type of gym), but I never would have signed up knowing the sauna is closed. Don’t advertise it, if it’s not available.I then reached out to the guy who signed me up saying this is not what I signed up for. He forwarded me to someone else who gets paid to not be helpful. Place feels grimy. I also thought they put me on the inactive list, they charge you 1$ a month to not use their gym, but after checking my account I’ve been getting charged the full amount every month.Doing this to people in a pandemic?I would rather go to Edge, or planet fitness and save 60$ a month and get a respectable gym

The gym is first rate and by far the best Philly has to offer. Don’t be taken by bad ratings because they must have a bone to pick. The place and people are awesome. I offered to continue paying while they closed for COVID to help the employees. They took the fee for only a short while and stopped charging me.You’d feel comfortable there whether 18 or 80, overweight, slim or experienced lifters.

Ignore all the old reviews. I have been a member since August, workout 6 times a week and never faced a problem. It’s truly worth $80/month with a year contract. The staff are the nicest from front desk to daily trainers. Equipments are high end, well maintained and cleaned daily. It’s the perfect environment to relax from a stressful work day or pull an intense training session. Worth every penny!

I was out walking my dog and stopped in to inquire about pricing. As soon as I stepped in the door I was yelled at by the clerk at the front desk to stop and ordered to stay where I was. Seriously... you are literally next door to a dog store... Did you think she was a bigger health risk that the people inside?? I will take my business elsewhere!

Update: one star is the best this place can get. Yes the equipment is top of the line, but their membership services are horrendous. The reason they dont put membership prices on the website allows them to change it any anytime they want and keep the public guessing whats the going rate.Great place to workout, always clean and up to date equipment, BUT their service staff is horrible. Asked to freeze my account due to school and was never told I had to fill out a account freezing form and was told “I should have know about this form.” Good business practice would be to remind the person of this just in case they forget.

For years I loved this place- but as it transitioned from a small business to massive Globo Gym, management has lost concern for members and employees, and it comes through in the experience. Structurally, they focus on superficial appearances while leaving needed repairs unaddressed. If you have the choice, head elsewhere.

I been going to this gym about 4 maybe 5 months now. I LOVE IT. Never been into fitness or excerising on my own so the classes are excellent for me and the instructors are great! I love it! The sign up fee was a little high, but you get what you pay for and this gym is worth every penny and close to home!

This place works really well for my needs. It has great equipment, various space to do weights and cardio, and it’s clean. I was nervous about joining because many reviews center on how hard it is to cancel. Maybe I’ll update this review when that time comes. But generally I’ve had a really pleasant experience here. Please note: I don’t do any of the classes, cardio machines, etc., and I have a very flexible work schedule that allows me to come off peak and never at the usual busy gym times.

Canceling a membership is extraordinarily frustrating. It appears that they make it purposefully difficult to keep being able to take your money, despite not going. I recently started traveling for work, and they required you to be there in person, or to send a certified letter in, basically all they do is argue with you about canceling your membership.Would highly recommend never signing up in the first place.

As a previous review stated, would highly recommend never signing up in the first place. Its expensive per month and charge a yearly fee as well. And once you sign up its impossible to get out of your contract. They continuously argue with you and keep your money. Its a million dollar gross revenue company however they nickel and dime their customers at every turn. They had a walnut street location that closed overnight with no warning and forced patrons to go to another location with no refund. Management doesnt worry themselves with you, they are just worried about the bottom line.
