If I could give 5+ stars to the Glen at Shawmont Station I would, I cannot recommend it here enough! The appeal starts from the moment you stop into the office to inquire more, being greeted by a kind and courteous, welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional staff, whether its Kevin or Laura. Once you take a tour of the property, you will fall in love quickly. (The views cannot be beat!) The grounds are picturesque and beautifully maintained, the homes feel like home: spacious and well set-up. If there is ever an issue with any sort of maintenance what-so-ever, (even if thats needing blinds replaced, or fireplace bulb replaced) they are on it immediately. The homes are thoroughly cleaned, painted and well-maintained when residents change over. The Property Manager really cares about the quality of life for his residents, it is evident in all the work he does! Kevin and Laura always go above and beyond, always. This is a community; the residents become friends and look out for each other. The dog park and paw trail on site are great, there are resident events frequently for both kids and adults, and food trucks come here all the time. I feel so lucky to live in this wonderful community and I cannot recommend it enough! It is in a perfect location, with the Schuylkill River Trail right down the street, a ton of great restaurants, bars, and shops within minutes, a short trip to center city, and anything you could possibly need or want! If youre looking for a new place, look no further, you truly have found home!
If youre looking for a new apartment in Philadelphia, the Glen is perfect for new families and those commuting to Grad school! The staff is so incredibly nice and was very accommodating when we had to move in sight-unseen from Michigan last summer. Kevin was awesome and got pictures and all of the details about the apartment we were looking at the day we called, and we were able to sign the lease that same week and move in a few weeks later. Management and maintenance were always on top of everything too, for a very reasonable price of living in a big city. We highly recommend the Glen to anyone moving to Philly!
My husband and I were very happy at the Glen. We found the apartment to be very clean and peaceful. Kevin and Laura were a pleasure to work with. Anytime we had a question they promptly answered our question. Loved the food trucks that came to the complex. Great location. We had a good time riding and running on the nearby trail along the river.
At the beginning of the year, I had a sudden need to change housing.Within 16 hours of inquiring, and after the exchange of a few emails, I was doing a walk through. 2 days later, I was moving in. Responses to my emails and questions were VERY timely and always helpful (which was so appreciated, given the stress around moving). The apartment itself is spacious, clean, and very quiet (even though Im on the ground floor!). Everything I could want for my son and I.A few things I like most about the property is the ease of access to local hiking and biking trails. Likewise, Im 20 minutes from downtown and 20 minutes from King of Prussia. You really cant beat the placement. Whats incredibly is even being so close to the city, its so quiet here at the actual property.
I lived at the Glen for 4 years. It was a good apartment complex, very peaceful, safe and friendly community. It also has abundant parking space. Maintenance was always very responsive particularly during regular work hours which I thought was the greatest asset of this apartment building. It is also in a strategic location; not too far from center city, close to Manayunk, and not too far from KOP. Theres a dog park for pet lovers, the area is clean, and the apartment office of recent has been organizing community events, getting food trucks regularly, etc. There is a small gym and a business center. Three areas of concern in my experience were the HVAC system, the floors, and insects. My HVAC was broken at least four times every summer (over 4 years with temperature running in the 90s occasionally) and was finally changed only a couple of weeks before I left. Rather than fix the underlying problem/change the HVAC system, they kept attempting temporary solutions to the problem. Freon, valve leak, coil damage, HVAC freeze, etc, I heard it all. The other is the floors are paper thin. If youre in a ground unit, you constantly hear everything that goes on above you. Sometimes it is as though someone would make it through the floor into your apartment. Lastly, probably due to the large trees and bush in the area, you occasionally would find insects in the unit through door/window cracks etc. I think they could do better with fumigation. Overall, it is a good apartment complex.
I spent two years here, and loved every bit of it. Maintenance was always on point, and were incredibly happy to help (thanks Jeff). Kevin and Laura were fantastic in the office. The apartment itself (1 bed with den) was unique and felt different than every other apartment I had seen. I will miss it. For me, it felt like home.
We lived for just short of 3 years at The Glen, and had a great experience living there. There are the simple reasons, such as the easy parking, short commute to the train/bus, and 5 min drive to Manayunk. But more than that, our experience was made great because of the people that worked and lived there. Our neighbors were friendly, and the staff was more than accommodating (Laura, Kevin, Jeff, & Jack!) In the 3 years we were there, of course there were some maintenance issues that needed tending to. Whenever we put in a request, it was taken care of in 24 hours or often times less. We were comfortable living there and highly recommend it to anyone looking to move to that area. If you want the best of city life but a more suburban feel, this is definitely the place! Also, the Schuykill River Trail is a 3 min drive away and goes all the way to Manayunk via the river!
I have lived at the Glen for a year and a half and am sorry that I have to relocate for a new job. This is by far the best place in the area to rent from. The management staff is friendly and very professional while the maintenance workers are courteous and respond to issues immediately. The view from our apartment porch is amazing and I enjoy being able to walk around the complex and run on the treadmills at the gym. The area is very safe, located perfectly because of all the restaurants nearby and is even a five minute drive from Wissahickon park. I would highly recommend the Glen to anyone moving to the area it offers the fun and proximity of city living but at the same time the privacy and quiet community of suburb living. I would give it ten stars if I could.
I lived at the Glen for 18 months and it was a great experience. Kevin and Laura are by far the most friendly and accommodating management professionals I have encountered through renting in various locations. The maintenance staff is superb, any issues we had were fixed immediately regardless of the time of day.The community itself is kept impeccable, location is perfect because of the close proximity to Ivy Ridge train station and Main Street Manayunk while at the same time providing ample parking, seclusion, and a quiet and friendly atmosphere to live. Overall given; the location, apartment style and upkeep, and the neighborly community the Glen provides, there is no better place in the area to rent.
I lived at the Glen for a little over a year and I thoroughly enjoyed my time! The common areas and amenities are very well maintained, Kevin and Laura in the office were very easy to deal with, and Jeff was very prompt with any maintenance requests I had. It has a pretty good location in the Philly area if you have a car, and the parking is one of the best features they have. Its not very walkable to Main Street Manayunk, but it is much quieter because of how secluded it is. I would definitely recommend The Glen to someone who likes the convenience of being close to the city with easy access to the suburbs.
DO NOT LIVE HERE!When I moved in the apartment was not turned over/ remotely touched from the previous residents; no cleaning, ripped up dirty carpeting! When I called the office to ask why this has not been done the leasing agent completed lied and said she believes the turn happened.. ADVICE: walk your units prior to a move in!! They were NOT accommodating or even apologized for inconveniencing my move. I could not even speak with the property manager when requested. Days later when the carpets were finally replaced AFTER my move, the vendors used our bathrooms without flushing, did not move out furniture back as the leasing agent said they would to help with our trouble. Upon emailing our concern, her response claims she never said that.Fast forward a year and a half later- move out. We were great residents, renewed short-term even after a horrible move- in experience. We paid a $300 pet fee (had cat AND dog). They kept the whole $500 deposit and sent a carpet invoice.. After 1.5 years of living there with two pets, the manager claims it was great, brand new carpet and they would not replace it for the new resident therefore we were charged.Aside from the mishaps, the unprofessionalism from the management team is why you SHOULD NOT LIVE HERE! .. The only good thing about the community is the maintenance team and even they talk about how unprofessional and trashy the leasing agent and PM is.
My wife and I (and our dog) really enjoy living at the Glen. If you are looking for a quality place tucked away but still largely accessible, this is the place for you. Really, don’t pass it up.My wife and I don’t want to consider ourselves to be picky when apartment shopping, but we kinda are. The Glen has exceeded our expectations in a variety of ways.- The staff, Kevin and Laura, have been SUPER helpful since we’ve been here. We often have a lot of requests for them and they often go out of their way to help us out.- It’s relatively quiet (for the city) which we love, and the spacious parking has been nice. It’s also SUPER green with all the trees and plants which is a nice touch.- The apartments are pretty unique in layout which I have found to be just a small thing to make it feel like home.- For city living, it’s a pretty affordable price for what you are getting!- On occasion, the leasing office host’s parties and friendly competitions online which has been a fun way to engage with the community. All in all, we find it to be one of our favorite locations to live. We would recommend it! Many thanks to Laura and Kevin for going out of your way to serve us. Y’all are the coolest.Christian H.
Kevin in the leasing office was very kind and always helpful, I lived there for many years and enjoyed my time there! Great views and very quiet!
The Team at the Glenn has worked around the clock to make sure me and my girlfriend found the perfect apartment. They are unmatched when it comes to customer service, We went on numerous tours and They always made it a priority to explain the details. I felt a sense of trust and loyalty when working with them. Kevin & Laura made our experience very seamless!Thank you Kevin & Laura !
I moved in during the pandemic, the move-in process was smooth. The management are helpful, the manager is your friendly neighbor. The complex itself is neat with nice surroundings. You dont have to drive far for groceries or any other necessities. Overall, I would recommend this place to a friend.
*Before you read, please know Im not typically a write a review type of person*But I cannot speak highly enough of the experience here at The Glen. The staff is not only helpful to my needs, but they are all very, very friendly. Ive never seen a staff/maintenance team like this with so much vested interest in the community members and the property here. Simply running into a staff member is like running into a friend... whether it be a simple wave, casual conversation, or a question/concern, Ive been treated with the UTMOST respect and kindness here.My apartment is well maintained, and on the rare occasion that something needed to be fixed, it was fixed THE RIGHT WAY the first time, and within 24 hours. The grounds/property is absolutely beautiful. Im required to live in the city for my job, but living here at The Glen makes me think Im in the suburbs. There isnt a speck of trash, and the landscaping is excellent. Its quiet, the trees and shrubs are gorgeous, and I can even hear birds chirping while drinking my morning coffee... its nothing like living in THE CITY. Especially when you consider that Im a 2 minute drive from the train station, and a 5 minute drive/UBER ride to Main Street in Manayunk. And depending on where you work, access to I-76, Route 1, and I-476 are all less than 10 minutes away. Location could not be more ideal. In summary, you truly get what you pay for here at The Glen. Its without a doubt, the premier renting option in the area.
I wish I didn’t leave the Glen. Moving away happened so I have no choice .Truly is a wonderful place to call home. The management team is amazing, especially Kevin. They are warm and friendly and genuinely care about their tenants. The Glen is quiet, safe and completely beautiful and modern. The apartments are impeccable and well cared for. It is a terrific environment to be around and the amenities close by are a major plus. You Are close to center City and the town is amazing. This is the ultimate place to live in Philadelphia- call the Glen manager Kevin- he will certainly take good care of you- Mary/Ryan
My boyfriend and I lived here for a year and I was the best renting experience weve had. The management is very nice, especially Kevin, and are so accommodating. The only issue we had was that our heat was out for a few days do to a line freezing, but we were quickly provided space heaters. The property is well maintained and the neighbors are nice. Im only giving a 4 star because I felt it was a little overpriced for what you get, and while is the location is close to some things you definitely have to drive everywhere. Overall I would definitely recommend!
If it seems too good to be true, it is! This company is all smiles but incredibly sketchy and dishonest under the surface. Hundreds of dollars in fees not mentioned in the lease, changing stories, nasty attitudes, EXTREMELY unhelpful. We ended up canceling our lease before we even moved in. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, but I can only assume it would have been an entire year of this same behavior so, no thanks!
The Glen is a great apartment complex to call home. Living here the past 3 years I couldn’t see my wife and I anywhere else. The price was fair and amenities were excellent, specifically the ample parking which is included. Management was always great, even when it changed at the end of our lease, Kevin always did a great job. If you have a dog, the Glen offers a spacious dog park and plenty of grassy areas to walk, it’s a very dog friendly complex. The apartment sizes are larger than average. If there’s one downside I will say the carpet was not ideal, but luckily they are putting wood flooring in most of the units now. The apartments are well maintained and so is the landscaping, including excellent snow removal. The gym is always clean and has enough equipment for most people, it’s also open 24hrs. Lastly another great thing about the Glen is having your own private entrance, this is something a lot of other complexs in the area do not have.
Really great apartment complex in quiet areaI was a resident for 4 years at the Glen and was sorry to move. My job transferred me to the west coast and I miss my lovely apartment at The Glen. The complex is located on top of a hill and is in a very pretty setting with a nice walking trail in the woods. I was close enough to the nightlife in Shawmont Station, yet far enough away from the hustle. There is ample parking and a super wonderful office staff. I will definitely miss Kevin who is The Glen. He and his team were always responsive to any minor issue that came up. Repairs were done swiftly and they were on top of the maintenance in the complex. The apartments were very competitively priced and on the west coast I am paying double and its not half as nice! The property is about 10 years old and they are constantly updating the apartments with new Kitchen cabinets and appliances. You get stainless steel appliances. There is washer / dryer in each unit. They have an onsite 24 hour Gym and there is a nice coffee bar with snacks available as well. The Glen is pet friendly and many residents have dogs and meet at the dog park. Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice place in Shawmont Station.
My husband and I lived here for two years and never had any issues. Until today, my mom moved in about a year and a half ago and had a medical emergency this morning due to a surgery she had at the end of December. Unable to get to the door herself, my sister was in route to get to her and was unsure if she had a spare key. I called the emergency number to have them unlock the door for us because of the situation. Would you believe they won’t allow you in, EVEN in an emergency for our MOTHER because we are not on the lease?! My mom could be laying on the floor and we’d have to wait for the police to arrive... either my sister would have to break a door and or window to get to her or the police would? Unbelievable. This is my mom, not just a friend. I hope they look over their emergency policies for family members because if it was their parent or sibling in this situation I’m sure they would be just as mad.
The Glen at Shawmont, is a lovely place, city living but you feel you are in the Suburbs. The apartments are beautiful the grounds are well maintained.Laura the Leasing Associate is a wonderful person, she helped us with every detail to make this an easy transition for my parents who are in their 70s. Whenever you call her she is so pleasant she made this a awesome experience.Thank you so much.AnnMarie ThompsonJudith ThompsonThomas Thompson
I lived 10 months at the Glen at Shawmont Station . From beginning to end it was a very pleasant experience. Kevin was very attentive and answered all questions. Whenever I had a maintenance request (large or small) the maintenance staff was right there to take care of it. The grounds were were always taken care of. The complex was quiet and my apartment was beautiful . It really was a hidden gem If did not have to move back to Florida for work, I would still live there.
My husband and I are selling our house and will, hopefully, be moving to the Glen at Shawmont Station. Having been a property manager for many years and a past president of the Greater Philadelphia Condominium Managers Association in Philly, personal service is ingrained in me. So, to receive that kind of service from another manager (Kevin) always makes me happy! You went that extra mile in advising us which buildings would provide us with the least amount of steps due to my knee and that would also provide us with a beautiful view.We are looking forward to living at the Glen by spring!
My wife and I moved from Virginia to Philadelphia last October (2015). Lets be honest, Philly was a bit of a shock! Not being familiar with the city I wanted to move to a place I felt we would be safe. I called the Glen Apartments at Shawmont from Virginia and the staff were very helpful. Since I had to take the apartment sight unseen, they took a whole array of pictures to show me what was available and worked with me to get my deposit and fees taken care of electronically. Even after we signed the lease the office staff continued to be helpful, friendly and even thoughtful, which as anyone who has rented for a while knows, is not always the case. The apartments are situated among the trees so it almost feels like you are in the country. The train station is within walking distance (1 mile) which makes it convenient for getting to work at Temple U. The complex feels very safe and although there are many dog owners, the property smells and looks clean. The fitness room is well-equipped and handy if you dont want to pay for a gym membership. There is a lounge area complete with coffee and cookies open each day during office hours. I would say the one downside for those with children is the lack of play area. However, I would wholeheartedly recommend renting here.
Its the end of the paved SRT. You go around on the canal path thru Manayunk to get to Kelly drive/SRT.
Ive lived at the Glen at Shawmont for about 7 months now after moving from out of state. I spent a lot of time researching a complex that would be a friendly, easily accessible community that had the park views and neighborhood feel I was used to but also was close enough to the all amenities that the city has to offer while remaining in a reasonable price range. I hit the jackpot with the Glen at Shawmont!I was initially attracted to the private spacious parking lot and close proximity to the train station and highway which make my commute a breeze. The apartments themselves are fantastic with oversized kitchen cabinets, a gas range, a stainless stainless steel fridge, and in unit private laundry! The finishes are beautiful and modern. Best of all are the beautiful views from our balcony of rolling green hills. You cant beat it and the rent is very reasonable.Best of all the community is very friendly not only to its human residents, but also its furry residents. The complex is pet friendly and even has a dog park and hiking trail.Im so happy we made the Glen at Shawmont our home!
My husband and I have been living at the Glen for about a year now and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience thus far.The community is extremely well kept and clean and any maintenance requests are always a breeze (9x out of 10 our issues are resolved the same day I submit the problem in the user-friendly portal. Any other time it’s done the following day). Service like that is hard to come by!The office staff (Kevin and Laura) are super friendly, responsive and always more than willing to help the residents in any way possible. Kevin is a social butterfly around the property. Most consider him more of a friend than just the property manager. As far as the units - there’s a lot to choose from. Different layouts and upgrades and all for a reasonable price (considering the location and being so close to the heart of Manayunk). It’s like a slice of the suburbs. The dog park is also a great addition! Great space and always well maintained. We’d recommend the Glen to anyone looking to live in the Manayunk/Roxborough area!
Moved in 4 months ago and couldnt be happier! The amenities are great, staff is nice, Kevin is very attentive.Price is great and Im just down the road from downtown Manayunk.I love that we are surrounded by foliage and manicured grass and landscaping.I heard the new owners are planning on significant upgrades and am looking forward to the pool.
We loved living here! Very peaceful & quiet neighborhood. We hardly ever cook so we loved that it was in close proximity to so many local restaurants. Sadly, my career took me to Massachusetts, but we loved this complex and would gladly come back.
Myself and my daughter lived at the Glen for three and a half years. We called it home for sure. We felt it to be safe, clean, and we had great neighbours. Management were phenomenal. Kevin has been there from the begining. Anything went wrong it was fixed at a prompt maker. They also would have resident little gatterings so people got to know their neighbors.Great location. Not far to city or KOP. Fairmont park also close by.Definitely great place and thanks to Kevin and Laura for great memories. We are sad we had to leave. New Chapter.
This place used to be great until they went under new management. They fail to provide notices and then claim they were provided in a portal. Like the previous reviewer wrote, this place previously stood out because of the front office. That’s no longer the case. Do not move here.
The Glen at Shawmont is such a great peaceful place to live - it’s near great night life, but tucked away so you can enjoy the peace & quiet. Everyone is super friendly and the staff is always willing to help! Highly recommend.
Ive recently renewed for a second year lease at the Glen. My experience so far has been great. The office staff is always prompt and incredibly accommodating to any needs that arise.Location is fantastic, where you are far enough way to avoid the hectic lifestyle of downtown Manayunk, but close enough to head in for dinner or drinks at a moments notice.Amenities are great, with a free 24 hour gym that is always kept clean organized. Management does a great job of keeping the property clean and maintained as well.
Moved here 2 years ago from the Midwest. The Glen was a perfect rural setting only a few miles from the city center. The best of both worlds! It has been a positive experience living here until things started to break down in our apartment. When our kitchen sink clogged and overflowed into our kitchen one morning while we were out, they sent maintenance right away. He spent a few hours trying to fix it. When he was unable, we were told we had to call a plumber and were liable for the cost. It took the professional 5 minutes and set us back $405. The plumber couldnt understand why we were liable as the clog was 40 feet out and at that point it would be a shared pipe with other tenants. After much delay and pushback from management, we negotiated to split the cost. Next, our main toilet was broken and unusable for over 3 weeks. Their maintenance man even admitted to me he was googling how to replace the toilet. It still isnt working right. My attempts to contact management have been ignored. No apologies. No rent deduction. They take zero accountability. I fear our move out date; I wonder if they find reasons to hold back our security deposit even though we are good, quiet tenants who pay our rent on time. Beware of this property management; if something looks too good to be true; it probably is.
Since the new owners took over, things are going great! They are attentive and really care! I hear more upgrades are coming!Definitely HIGHLY recommend The Glen to all my friends!
Dont be fooled by the location and the property. Once you have a problem with your apartment they give you the run around. They cheap so they do anything possible not to spend money to fix it. My roof has leaked 3 times in the same place in the 8 months since I have been living in the apartment. They say no subleasing but when myself and other neighbors brought to there attention 2 months went by and they didnt do anything. The only reason they did was they are trying to sell the property. It says dogs arent supposed to be over 30 pounds in lease and there are dogs way over 30 pounds. All they care about is getting there rent. The good thing is they are trying to sell it. So if you are interested wait till they sell.
The Glen at Shawmont Station was by far and large my best apartment experience within Philadelphia. Laura and Kevin, the office staff, are supremely helpful and straightforward and the maintenance crew is very courteous and quick. Our unit was spacious and well maintained, with modern appliances and a great floorplan. Location is great - it is quick to get to I76 and downtown Manayunk as well as Conshohocken via Ridge Ave. I cannot recommend any other place more.
My wife and I rented here for a year and a half, and are only leaving because we are buying our first home. Overall the Glen is a great complex to live in. Its very close to the train station so it is easy to get into the city (but far enough away that you cant really heard the train horns). Its also very close to main street in Manayunk. The community is pretty quiet and everyone we met was very friendly. Almost monthly there are socials in the cafe which is great for meeting neighbors and making friends (not to mention free food and drinks). The staff is very friendly and willing to help out with any needs. I would highly recommend these apartments if you are looking in this area
There is a cafe for residents with coffee and gym that I would totally go to if I could just find time to workout. The office is staffed 7 days a week and Kevin is super nice. Im nestled in the woods but right next to the center of Manayunk. These are really the nicest apartments around.
Love the location. Very quiet and I feel safe. Always plenty of parking. Kitchen is updated and bedrooms are a good size.
For this proximity to downtown, this view, and this phenomenal service, you just cant beat this price. When theres an issue, maintenance is there to fix it within 15 minutes. Theres a free cafe with a KCup machine, a cozy fireplace, and free treats (often homemade!). Theyve got a free gym thats open 24 hours (and I have NEVER had to wait to use a machine!). And the view across the Schuylkill is stunning. Plus there is ample parking...where else in MANAYUNK will you find this much parking?!The best part, hands-down, are the guys who work at the front office. They are so friendly, set up great resident events (with free wine, beer, and food!), respond to emails at lightning speed, and always go above and beyond to do whatever their residents need!Overall, its a phenomenal place to live at an incredibly reasonable price with tons of amenities.
Great location, safe, plenty of parking, superior service by the office and maintenance staff. Great value!
My wife and I have lived at the Glen at Shawmont Station for 2 years, and it has been one of the best apartment renting experiences that weve ever had, and heres why:-The Office staff are fantastic. They hold regular resident events, are very responsive to maintenance requests, and are extremely kind and attentive to the needs of the residents.-We have a huge parking lot with tons of free parking spaces (there are no other apartments in this area that have parking like this, in most places around Manayunk/Roxborough its a pain to find a spot). Also, they do a great job of keeping the parking lot and sidewalks treated and plowed in the winter.-Maintenance is always on call, and they usually respond to an issue within an hour of us reporting it.-The apartments are new, huge (you wont find other apartments this big in this area), and have great amenities like stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, in-unit washer/dryer, central AC/heat, porches/balconies, and gas stoves...to name a few.-Free 24 gym and Wife Cafe on site (with free coffee!)-Beautiful views of the surrounding area and wooded hills, as the apartment complex essentially sits on the top of its own secluded hill.I highly recommend getting an apartment at The Glen At Shawmont Station!
I have lived at the Glen with my girlfriend for over 9 months now. At first we loved the apartment until we started to get water when it rained. At first a little then it got to the point of flooding have the apartment everytime it rained. Management made several attempts to fix the issue, when they couldnt fix it cheaply they basically gave up and stopped making attempts. Now they are giving us no option but to leave with zero compensation. They will not pay moving costs, they will not take any money off the rent, they basically are forcing us out to bring in the next sucker to live here. The owner, Barbera Martin, said and I quote I can make you move. I have paid my rent every month in full and this is what I get. We have been model tennants except for the far fetched fact that we want a dry apartment. Shame on them. STAY AWAY!
Sublet. (And just because you do not allow sublets doesn’t mean that there aren’t residents subletting out their apartment.)
Great Location & Great People!
