Picked from the Arrivals in 10 min and dropped to a waiting room filled with unhappy customers! There were no available cars for us at 12:30 AMA customer dropped her car one day early and was rushed off the rental so that her ride can be cleaned. We were directed to call a taxi. This is a sad sad experience!!!!
I dont know what it is about renting cars in big citys. We rented a premium SUV to try and have a better experience. We went with National in Philadelphia because they were rated the highest at the airport. National said we were in the Emerald Club when we arrived even though we had never signed up. It took them three tries to find a vehicle that was not filthy, wrecked, or broken. Even the sanitation card in one of the vehicles looked like someone had spilled gross dark liquid all over it. To consider any of the vehicles they offered clean inside or out would be a gross distortion of the truth. The best premium SUV available had so many scratches, dents, and broken components that they didnt even try to mark it themselves and just handed us the form. Even the dial shifter in the Expedition was shattered. This was the best of what they had to offer. At drop-off, they said all set and sent us on our way. The emailed receipt arrived, and they charged us for fuel service even though we did not ask for it and the vehicle was returned entirely full, they charged us for a toll pass we did not ask for followed by another seven lines of taxes and fees not disclosed at booking. Good luck! Maybe try a peer-to-peer car rental app like Turo? We havent tried it yet and will definitely consider it before a typical rental company in the future.Answer to Nationals response: I sent correspondence to National customer support before I left this review. I have yet to hear a response.
Landed late into PHI from a delayed flight . So there was no bus to pick me up .. so I walked across a parking lot to get to the site .. walk to the Emerald Isle to find no cars . So I walk in to the facility and I’m told there are no cars to rent . Now I’m Emerald executive and my car was booked by my company.. so you would think they would hold one or 2 cars for members .. but no .. so I had to UBER to my hotel.. I came back the next day to be given my choice of 1 car ..a Toyota Corolla.. now it served it’s purpose.. but my self and my co workers are larger gentleman so a Corolla is a tight fit..I understand it’s a pandemic and cars are hard to purchase but ..you should save a few cars for your corporate and elite members
Another great experience with National Car Rental. This time with a bit of adventure as I rented and returned to Philadelphia International Airport. However on the second day after pickup while in Dayton, VA I started experiencing brake issues with the car. As we were headed into the mountains I was rather concerned and called the helpline. They were excellent in their response, they got me connected with a local Enterprise location and had me changed out into another vehicle within 30 minutes. It simply pays to be with National/Enterprise/Alamo group and part of the Emerald Club benefits. Looking forward to my next rental later this year.
Shout out to Myla, Bill, and Portia. Your customer service is second to none, and you make renting at the National at the Philly airport a great experience. Kudos to the three of you!!
My recent experience with renting from National was just fantastic! I was upgraded and extended without additional cost. That was great but the people that assisted were even better! Thanks National for making my trip seamless and stress free, NOW if you can do something about the traffic in I-95 I would appreciate it even more!
This was the fastest and easiest car rental I have ever had. Car was close, clean and ready to go. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The tank wasnt full when I got it, but I was already on the highway by the time I realized it.
Nationals Emerald program remains the best in the industry and service is second to none.Shuttles run frequently for arrival and departure so there are no delays.Keys are in the cars in the Emerald aisle. You get out of the shuttle, select a car, and drive to the exit.Cars are always clean and well serviced.Checkout and return are fast and convenient. For frequent travelers, I highly recommend National and the Emerald program.
Fantastic car rental service at this location. I did use the emerald Isle and they had a wide selection of different types of cars available. Took me a whole five minutes to get my car and exit the facility. Same experience on the return. Quick and easy. .
Great customer service! Jeramiah was fast, friendly and amazing when I was returning my car.
Great rental. Nice SUV left in the Emerald Isle. All clean and ready to go. Quick transfers from and to the terminal. Very enjoyable rental car experience.
Everyone was very friendly and efficient. The lines moved fast and my car was ready to go. When I returned the car it was quick and easy and the shuttle drivers were very helpful and friendly. A great experience!
The convenience of pick up and drop off was easy. Communication was great. The car was nice. Overall a great experience.
Dishonesty! DONOT RENT FROM THEM!If I could give 0 to this location, I will. I’ve been renting National for a while. Most of the other locations will check the car with you and make sure all damages are marked. But this one didn’t. And they just told me to get any car I want from that size area. After 5 days, I’ve been driving really carefully. Today I returned it, and a guy just went around the car told me everything is fine. So I came to the airport. But when I get to the airport, some girl called me told me there is some ding-rocker panel and other little issues which I didn’t know at all. Anyway, very unpleasant experience and I will never rent from them or any other National locations again. And I definitely will remove them from our company’s vendor list.
When I booked a reservation there was a type of car and pick up time, yet there was no vehicles of any type on arrival. The 15 other customers waiting formed a line and got into whatever car came out next. I chose national for the convenience and paid more for being able to choose my rental.
Used PHL for a trip with 4 kids and myself and flew in on a late flight. Whoever was working there on the lot was fantastic. Took a look at me and said, wait here, I have just the thing. And found a vehicle that comfortably sat everyone. PHL itself has some issues but National was great here.
Vehicle was ready, very clean, fueled up, and the process took me about 10 minutes from arrival at the rental car facility to departure. Well done!!
Used Emerald Isle for a Fast Friendly Experience.Nissan Rouge was a great choice.
Im really great buzzing service
So the shuttle buses have no basis in reason- timing, location, like today i had to cart around bags between and through traffic, then hail the bus, and unload all our items in between cars leaving an active loading area. What airport does this? Why wouldnt the buses have a designated area? To isolate and protect clients? To not stall traffic? Add the utterly insane driving to and from rental areas, and youve got the worst experience Ive seen from Seattle to south Beach.
All was well, personnel were friendly (especially the bus drivers, appreciated them very much!). Liked the fact that the buses came frequently.Did not understand the process with the Toll Transponders and no one could explain it to me.
Thank you for an easy Pickup and Return process. Really enjoy being able to pick out my own car when renting and appreciated my being very clean and sanitized. Thank You PHL National Car Rental
I usually only rent with National. I flew into PHL pretty late. However, when I got to the rental place, all that was available were large trucks. As someone who drives a Mini full time at home, I was a little concerned having to drive such a large vehicle. There were no people available to talk with about a different car. Over all, I was fine, I was not happy with my rental at all.
Picking up the vehicle, the gentleman who helped us was excellent. Then the checkout and return process could not have been easier and quick.
The PHL airport had a lot of autos to choose from. I chose the Nissan Rogue along with an EZ PASS transponder. The Rogue drove nicely for a 4 cylinder and ride was smooth. My experience with National was a 5/5 for both car pickup and car return. The bus waited for us to turn the car in and left promptly to the airport.
Shuttle bus arrived within one minute, Emerald Aisle car ready to go, check out very quick, Nissan Sentra new, clean and fuel efficient, check in quick and return shuttle driver very courteous. 5 stars all around save for the $90 daily price tag although all car companies have jacked up their rates.
I love the Emerald Club. Easy in… Easy out.
Quick and easy emerald aisle pickup. Return was smooth. Forgot to get gas and it was about 65% over current gas price, but that was my bad. Customer attendants were all very friendly and had positive attitudes.
The rental facility at the Philadelphia airport had one extremely rude employee working at the emerald executive and regular aisle. I simply had a question about my rental and have been with National for over 8 years, and the gentleman refused to help me and my husband. He would not even listen to what I had to say, rather dismissed us rudely and said only help could be at the counter. He even got into a confrontation with my husband. Everyone else was extremely pleasant and helpful. Had it not been for the other individuals, we would have switched can rental companies.
Enterprise is the most reliable car rental company. I always look forward to and Enterprise/National rental because I know that it will be at my destination, clean, and very low mileage with a full tank of fuel. Throughout COVID and the pandemic, Enterprise became the only reliable transportation company my company could depend on.
Car was clean but obviously well used. Selection on Emerald Aisle was limited to three cars. Mid-size now reduced in size.Rental cost was much higher than in past from same location.
Easy in and out. The return was even easier. They met me in the parking lot. Saved me alot of headaches flying in ana out of Philly.
This was my second experience with National. The first not so good, but this one more than made up for it. Getting the car, smooth, quality of the car, outstanding. Return was very similar. Receipt emailed to make fast and painless returning to airport. Im now a convert to National.
Only one complaint, overall a great experience. Here is the issue - the shuttle from the airport to the rentals - I had 2 large bags, and I have a slight disability, so need assistance with my bags. When I got picked up the driver refused to help load my bags - I can barely walk up the steep steps on the shuttle, let alone lift my bags up the 5 stairs.Had it not been for another passenger willing to assist me, Im not sure what would have occurred. When I got to the location, a gentlemen onsite there gladly assisted with getting them off the shuttle, and from there it was one of the best rental experiences I have had.Fortunately, when I returned, the driver of that shuttle assisted me with my bags without my even having to ask, and did so for every single passenger - this guy was a total class act.Would have rated this experience a 5 but honestly, something needs to be done to make sure drivers are helping all passengers with their bags...
Very customer service friendly...clean.. fast... convenient....
The service was exceptional. the vehicle i choose was very new. that staff that check me out was very friendly. I will recommend travelers use National Car rental for their rental services while in Philadelphia.
Emerald aisle service is always convenient with a good selection of vehicles. Easy car return set up. Great customer service
Always very consistent with quality of car and overall experience, Service and quality and very good each time
No real complaints against the car or the company. The lady at the desk was less than friendly though. Didnt offer an upgrade or explain our contract or really anything.
I really like National car. Nice people no matter which location once gone to. Nice cars.
Good service. I wish executive Elite would have better cars.
Amazing experience at a car rental place. You dont expect this type of service from a rental car company located in an airport. Exceptionally pleasant and professional work was done by Yosef Yacob. Long story short, i had to exchange my BMW X3 that a rented a day ago from Newark airport. Wheel alignment was off so i had to turn my steering wheel about 10 degrees to the left to keep my vehicle straight. I took it to this location and Yosef was there to help me. Right before dealing with my situation, i saw him resolving another issue with another customer. He was very kind, informative, and very professional. He manage to get me another vehicle right away. I got much smaller car compare to what j paid for. I will deal this with the customer serive later. Even if i dont get back the difference, i am still happy from the service that i got from Yosef. Thank you again
I am handicapped,I have reserved a car for the price of $1527They dont have any chip & pin reader you must swipe the card, and for swiping a have a limit of $1,500 every 8 hoursThey were so mean that they didnt want to figure out a $30 problem for a $1,500 rental. This is called non considerablyShame!!!
National car rental has never let me down. I love the Emerald 8sle car selection and how easy it is to get a car when I am traveling. You simply go to the Emeral Isle select the car that suits your needs then get in it and drive over to the exit area where you show your drivers license, credit card and you are set to go. Returning your rental is simple and takes no time at all. National makes it simple and stress free.Their line up of rentals is always enough for whatever need I have and their employees are always interested in making sure my rental experience was as perfect as it could be.
Vehicle rental was good. However, I inadvertently left my sunglasses in the vehicle. I called and went to the airport rental office to retrieve them. I was told I would be contacted and have yet to be contacted. I went to the office the night I returned the car and they still couldnt provide the sunglasses I had just left a few hours earlier.
The last few times I have been, emerald aisle has been completely empty or nearly empty (a few sedans only). The shuttle drivers are helpful and nice but the counter agents dgaf about helping you.
Quick, clean car, good choice of cars, easy return.
Needed to make adjustment to reservation. Customer service said I had to do it at the airport, manager at the airport said I had to do it at customer service. Spent 40 minutes on phone with customer service superviso, .Peter ID#E858VF. He said he would have someone from management call me ASAP. It is 4 days later no one called.
The Philadelphia Airport location is absolutely horrendous, avoid at all cost! Here is my latest experience at this location. I arrived at the site at 12am, I had booked an Emerald Aisle car. After midnight you need to goto the counter, cool no problem. The site is a National, Alamo and Enterprise location. I walk into a huge line at Enterprise and I goto the counter for National. Im yelled at by a female rep who says just get in the enterprise line. I ask about Emerald Aisle and she says just get in line. 30 min later I get to the front of the line and speak to a male rep who tells me oh you could have just gone to the agent outside for Emerald Aisle. I say are you kidding me, she told me to get in this line! Woman shrugs her shoulders and goes well sorry.I go out and talk to the rep outside who tells me there are no cars available. Then he comes back and says well you can take that Hyundai. Great! I jump in the Hyundai and find that it is all electric and has a low charge... not enough to travel the 50 miles to my hotel... The response is well I will look outback for something else.It is now 130am, I have been at the location for almost 2 hours and they pull an suv forward and I finally get to leave. Rep at the gate was very nice, but I come to find out later she didnt close the rental out.My return was a mess. First Im told that there is no record of me renting the SUV Im in and asked me how i got ahold of it. My response, do you think I stole it and then would just bring it back? He proceeds to write down the vin, license plate, mileage and fuel level and says well you need to take it up with the front desk. For the inside counter, gentleman was very nice. He said they didnt process the check out correctly. I hung out for about 10 min and needed to run or have issues catching my flight. I took pictures of the hand written return label etc. at the end it took about 24 hours to get my receipt that the rental was closed out.Place is super disorganized and I will try and avoid in the future!
I am a an Executive Elite Member and by March 15, 2020 I had 72 rental days. I finally got back to being able to travel, and went to pick a car at Philadelphia International, where I always do. There was virtually NO inventory, and as an Executive Elite Member, nothing that I would normally choose. In this case I needed a Suburban which for me is never a problem, there were a few in the lot but not in the Executive row. I asked if I could take one of them, and was told emphatically NO. I mentioned my rental status and the person said sorry, it no longer matters that you are a good customer. If you want that car, you will have to pay an upgrade fee, and even if you did I have a reservation for it, so you cant have it. I escalated to a Manager, and she was ruder then the first person. Finally I was able to find another Manager walking the lot and he worked something out for me, but it cost over $250 more for the week than my corporate rate would be. This was a very poor welcome back to National rental experience for me. Philadelphia is always a difficult place to rent from, and they got worse, but unfortunately this is my home base. Cleveland on the other hand, where I drive to a lot has an incredible, active manager, who is very pleasant to work with and always striving to make my experience the best it can be. Cleveland gets an A+, Boston and A and Philadelphia, a D- for customer care and support.
Car was extra clean, check out very quick, car ran perfectly great gas mileage . Will return for vacation rental very soonThank you mike
Good selection of cars, and there was a really helpful attendant there as well.
Rented at PHL airport--Emerald aisle -----chose vehicle and drove away--no issues. Car clean. Return was super easy--no wait. Great experience
Great experience no line luxury car and best prices! Membership had its privileges!
Professional, friendly and received great directions. I didnt like the 400.00 hold on my card. 30th street location only holds 200.00.
I’ve been renting with national for a while now. It wasnt until my last rental that I was not satisfied with the service afterwards. When I spoke with the sales rep at the PHL airport location regarding my class of car and the option I selected, she was supposed to adjust not only the price (which she also gave me a discount because of damage to the undercarriage) but the class that I end up going with. It was until I returned the vehicle that I notice she never did any of that and I was charged for an elite suv when I had a elite sedan. I called customer service twice on two separate days and I still have yet to hear from the site regarding my dispute. I don’t think I’ll be returning to national any more.
Great experience renting from this location recently. I had reserved a Emerald Aisle vehicle, but was concerned with size of the vehicles available since I would be on the road quite a bit for my business meetings (including a 4 hour drive each way for 1 meeting). The onsite rental car agent, Myla, asked me if I needed any help and I explained to her my predicament. After listening to my concerns and also letting her know how close I was to being an Executive member, she allowed me to upgrade to a Toyota Camry which would have more room and be more comfy for my travels. Thank you Myla so much. The car was spacious, rode nice on the highway, and was one of my most comfortable car rides in a very long time. You MADE my business trip comfortable and a success too. Kudos to your great customer service too! (PS I am in sales and know customer service quite well). Will rent from National again when traveling thru PHL.
I have been renting with National for a while now and have had no issues with my experiences with them and even when I had issues with rental vehicles they would switch the vehicle quickly to make sure I was back on the road. Their customer service has been great you always have your ups and downs but overall always positive attitudes at lots of their locations.
Pick up was easy - but worst car we ever had! It was a tiny ford suv, and was the ONLY car available in the Emerald aisle. It had the seat belts that constantly tighten and choke you. Expect choices being an Emerald member.
No issues at the Philadelphia airport. The wait for the shuttle was less than 10 minutes and getting the car was easy.
The staff was courteous and went the extra mile to help me secure the vehicle I needed. Thank you
I have rented from National in Philadelphia several times for work and every time has been a great experience. Super friendly, super fast, super easy!
National saved the day when the airline messed up my connection. They were helpful in Philadelphia and walked me right out to my car. In Rochester, it was an odd time when I returned but he came out of the building to meet me as I was walking in.
Great customer service the young lady that took care of me on my arrival was very nice and helpful. More companies need personal like her would deal with this young lady any day👍👍👍
I rent from National Car Rental at 30th Street Train Station and their customer service is top tier. The rental agents provide excellent caring service. They understand the needs of their customers and thats important. They are personable, professional and most important friendly. I will not go anywhere else for my car rental needs. National Car Rental at 30th St train station in Philly rock!! They set the standard for exceptional customer service.
Great ride. Great price.
Experience at the National Car Rental place was smooth, the car we chose was very uncomfortable...Chevy Trax.
I only ever drive National for the freedom of being able to pick your own vehicle. I wish they had more opportunity to upgrade to a premium vehicle since I’m Executive Elite. I recommend the Philadelphia airport make a more user friendly pick-up/drop-off zone for Uber.
We had some problems with a car. They were very good about getting us taken care of and on our way. Professional and friendly service
I LOVE the Emerald Club! I dont have to wait in line. When I get to the airport, I jump right into whatever car I choose and roll out. They have a great selection of cars for the Emerald Club too! Last time I was in a Malibu and just rented a car today. I jumped into a Jeep Compass with 8500 miles. Yeah, still new. I would definitely recommend the Emerald Club with National.
In Philadelphia, short bus ride to rental car. National and Enterprise are together. Kiosks dont work so I had to wait in a long line of people despite priority membership. The selection of cars was not great but I think that was more a matter of me being last in line and all the good cars got selected. Bus drivers are helpful with luggage.
The Emerald Isle is just the smoothest, easiest check out process in the industry! Love it!
I have been using National for many years and it is my rental place of choice. This was a good vehicle however it did not appear to have been cleaned. There were crumbs, sticky residue on the console and cup holders.
I paid for a luxury SUV, when I got there I was told to pick an SUV from a line of 5, I was telling the attendant that I was looking for the luxury ones and she yelled at me that she already told me where to choose from. I got a Toyota Highlander which is a good truck but not a luxury model. When I returned it I told the attendant what happened and he went to his manager who got me credited for part of the difference. A shame that some employees have to make up for the poor ones
In and out quickly. Loved the support here.
The car came off the Emerald Isle and was extremely filthy. The inside of the car still had trash in it. I drove the car to the front and asked if car can be vacuumed and sent back through the car wash but the service agent told me no.
Fast, in and out service with great customer satisfaction.
Excellent customer service while taking out and returning the car. I was in a hurry to reach the check in counter and it took only 2 minutes to return the car and go to the shuttle service waiting. I wish every place is so prompt!
Always fund good deals and get great help
It seems as all the high-end cars are not being put out for the Executive Elite area, I have cars from this location for 30 days at a time and seems as I have to jump through hurdles to get a quality vehicle.
I had to travel to Philadelphia this week for business and read many reviews about this National location and their Executive Elite car selection. So here is my take on this locations car selection, if your interested in a full size sedan then there are plenty of cars to chose from in the Executive Isle (Chevy Impala, Dodge Charger, Toyota Camry) the SUV’s are (Toyota RAV4, Jeep Compass, Baseline Chevy Traverse) If you would like a more Luxury sedan or average SUV you will not find it. This is unlike any National location I have rented from ( Dallas, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Phoenix). Normally the Executive Elite Isle has a nice mix of Premium cars and SUV’s...but with this location NOPE.These types a reviews have been going on for over a year for this location and Executive Isle car choices...I would like to think that National is seeing these comments and trying to make a change for its most loyal customers.John
Always a great experience with National. They have the best reward program in the country. I pay the same low rate, but I get the greatest cars from the Executive Aisle. Yes, I rent a lot, but getting to rent a wide selection of awesome cars at a low price is the best. I love choosing anything from a straight-up hotrod to a luxurious SUV.
I rented a car in Philly and Nationals Emerald process made the pickup and return incredibly easy, quick and efficient.
Horrible service, given the fact that i originally rented the car in PHL airport and returned it to the Lehigh Valley Airport and they charged me extra fees that were never disclosed. When calling the PHL airport to verify if the return at another location was possible, the representative stated it was with an additional fee of $60. Instead what they did was change the entire pricing of the vehicle and charge me additional $400 to my account making the car rental cost $1,200. when the charge should’ve been $780. Now, they do not want to take responsibility because they state it’s not their fault i was misinformed. Also, when i rented the car and was waiting for it to be brought to the front of the location, another customer was complaining about the same problem, which was a red flag for me as well and then it happened to me. Do not rent a car from these theifs.
Efficient pick up and drop off at Philadelphia Internatl Airport. Return staff especially good.
Rented a car from National at PHL airport. In the past they have always been great. As an executive status i am able to chose from many cars and It comes in handy when I travel with a family of 5. This time was a little different. I was unable to select a larger vehicle due to limited supplies. I get that there is limited supply due to the pandemic, but a heads up would have been nice. My family had to cram into a smaller car with all our luggage for the good part of 5 days. they did have larger vehicles, but they were reserved. Had I known, I would have reserved as well, but there were not willing to help us out. Blaming the system, stating that it wouldnt allow them to switch my reservation. With how they treat their top tier renters, i would hate to see how they treat the folks that dont rent as often.Very disappointing
Cleanliness & Courtesy go a long way!I splurged a bit, ordering a top line car - and receiving a well appointed Audi A5 - but you think the attendant at National Car PHL could lean a little more towards the pleasant side as opposed to the angry side? As for the car - the inside was definitely clean but the outside had not seen a wash for a long time and it had sticky residue on both rear quarters of the car (left and right), concerning enough that I told the attendant at check out ..... Nah, its just sticky stuff. Your fine.
Wonder full service I really too happy with service I recommend this service everyone 5* is less 10* from my side thanks
Car experience was great. The car was cleaned and I had no problems while driving across the state of Philadelphia. The only problem I had is National charged me an extra 30 dollars for choosing a car out of the executive lot, when I am an executive member. Did not like that I had to call to fix the problem
I picked the car from Philly airport, the car was totally sterilized and I and no worried about Covid crisis. The working staff are always very friendly and easy to work with.
Overall really good. on arrival at Philly airport. Bus picked up a small group and seats had sticker on them do not sit/social distance. Bus made two more stops and bus was completely full/no empty seats. Driver should not have made that third stop!
Ive rented cars with National for 20 years; always a solid experience. I know what to expect and appreciate the easy access and minimal administrative requirements. On my most recent rental at the Philadelphia Airport, I was initially taken aback by the apparent absence of an Emerald Aisle. Nothing was clearly designated. A National attendant cleared up my confusion; we found an excellent car and experienced no difficulties during our 10 day rental. Ill continue to use National.
Smooth in and out and helpful service.
Recently rented an SUV from National. The battery died three days into the three week rental. The tires were worn to the point of needing to be replaced. The drivers side mirror assembly was broken so the mirror could not be adjusted. That vehicle should not even be in the fleet. I have rented from National for many years not sure I ever will again!
The National Car Rental at PHL is very good and the personnel are very friendly. I had no trouble picking up my car and drop-off was very easy. The prices are competitive with other brands so I recommend National for their exceptional service.
Start of 2021 National Car Rental really improved their car rental choices out of Philadelphia! Nice clean car, best experience yet out of Philly!
My Experience was horrible with the manager yesterday. She has no good customer service relationship.
