There were 60 ppl waiting in line and only 2 front desk workers. The shuttle bus driver did not stop TWICE. Were forced to stand outside in a 97°F heat index. I couldnt cancel my reservation since Ive been standing here in line for nearly ONE HOUR and the cancellation time passed. THIS IS HORRIBLE. There were senior citizens waiting OUTSIDE in the heat. I will NEVER rent from this Dollars & Thrifty AGAIN. Your 2 frontline workers who clear the reservations NEED help. They look stressed. The manager looks STRESSED. They need to be compensated to deal with stressful travelers like me. Where are the other 3 who were supposed to man the desk?
My mother and I pre paid for a vehicle at Dollar /thrifty at the Philadelphia Airport.The shuttle took 1 hour to get us since there are no drivers.Worse... we got to the rental location and were told We Have No Cars It was 9 pm and I dont know the area. I am driving 1.5 hours to take care of my mother and they shut the door on me.Stranded on the street with no car at night and my 97 year old mother is waiting for me.I can certainly not recommend this company.
2.5 hour wait in line to get a car I reserved weeks in advance. They were sold out of everything once I get up to the counter, and forced me to pay extra for an upgrade. Woman working the counter tells me that the lines are like this every weekend. So apparently their whole strategy is to over book and make extra money off forced upgrades. Take your money elsewhere.
CONSUMER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was a terrible experience. I would give them ZERO stars if I could. We made a reservation for 3:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. We arrived within 30 minutes of that time. We waited, OUTSIDE, in 90 degree heat for THREE HOURS for our car. They did not have sufficient staff to help everyone there. They had 1, sometimes 2, people working inside. Thats it. It was unbearable circumstances, and we were late for our evening plans. Ive never ever had to wait so long for a rental car in my life. The staff NEVER came out to give us an explanation or anything. When we got to the desk, the guy told us that they had over 400 reservations for that day. So they knew they were going to be busy, but did not make any accommodations for the people who had to wait. It was ridiculous. DONT EVER USE DOLLAR!!!!! I understand that things can get busy, but the lack of communication and total disregard for everyone else was just inexcusable.
The worst car rental experience in my lifetime. Waited over an hour for a shuttle to pick up my car then decided to walk to the rental counter since there were no shuttles. At the counter, service was rude and indifferent. Dollar has lost a loyal customer forever!
The line to pick up the car was literally out the door and around the parking lot please see my pictures. People were waiting approximately 2 to 3 hours to get checked in. This is completely unacceptable. In addition another couple took the car I was assigned and when I tried to check out they made me wait 15 minutes to do a switch after telling me I have to wait through the line again to fix the situation.
Waited in line for over an hour to get the car. Made a reservation online. After about a half HR into waiting a representative announced that u need a credit card instead of debit card to go one way if you live n this state. Great. That information should’ve been disclosed online. I will never spend another “Dollar” in this place.
Rented a car for 5 days. Tire had a bubble. I called roadside services and was put on hold for over 2 hours. I called 7 other times to be put on hold. My husband had to put a dummy tire on the car. When we checked in Carol was so rude and unprofessional. I will never rent from this company again. They thought I was on the side of the road broke down and left me on hold till 2 am when I finally hung up. I called everyday and was put on hold every single time. The issue was never resolved and car was returned with a dummy tire. Had I left it up to the company I would still be on the side of the road with a bad tire.
The price for renting a car for 6 days was astronomical. Plus they wanted to put a $500 hold on my debit card as a deposit. The employees were polite...no complaints there...but if I could afford to rent a Nissan Versa for $1300 a week, Id own a Lexus. Back to the drawing board on car rentals.

I am absolutely disappointed in this agency. After waiting in line for 3 hours in the heat, I got to check out which the employee had the keys ready for me for my car. My card declined and after 5 min on the phone with the credit card company I was all set to go. The employee working with me left for the day during that time. the next employee I was able to see said that last min car rentals that had been made the night before or that morning could not be processed. I LITERALLY had the keys the the car in my hand, and gave them back as I called the cars company. And they said they couldnt do it. I had confirmation of my rental too. Also, on top of that, my partner went inside to speak to an employee, and come to find out other people were able to get cars same day and leave with a car. And get upgrades. This place is asinine.
Travel is BUSY right now. I watch 2 (just two) agents tackle a 1.5 hour long me with calm and grace. Ms. Carol handled my reservation easily.My car was clean. My agent was nice. The agents I witnessed were nice to other customers. All of this under extreme pressure, low rates AND folks still required to wear masks.Yall... JUST. BE. NICE. The agents dont make the policies.10/10 recommend. Professional, clean, polite, policies available online and posted at the door.
Dont go here. i lucked out and only had to wait an hour before being told they dont accept my credit card. the line was four times as long by the time i walked out the door and over to a different company. the line is entirely outside too btw. never going here again.
In line now. Terrible wait times. Sat at terminal for 30 minutes, called in a favor from another rental service to drop me off. Then even more long wait times once arrived onsite and line doesn’t move. People are paying big cash for rentals right now. The least you can do is have a quick in and out experience.
I had the worst experience, the manager at Dollar car rental at Dallas Fort Worth airport refused to honor my prepaid car rental reservation. No one from the customer service has responded to my complaint. I had to rent a car at much higher price from another car rental place. There is not consideration for customers rights. You may get a cheaper price, but when you get this kind of customer service, you end up paying more and face a lot of mental torture like I did.
This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with renting a car. My wife and I travel and rent cars often and have never had such a terrible experience. Carrol who works up front was very rude and did not want to help us from the get go. We had booked our reservation through Expedia and she was looking for every reason to not give us the rental. I go by my middle name and had booked the car under my middle name and because of the name not matching my legal first name she wasn’t going to give me the rental that we had already paid for despite my card payment has my first initial, middle name and last name and all the other forms of id that have my first and middle name. Then finally when she decided to accept my id she needed our departing flight iteanrry with our name on it. Well the email with the flight information didn’t have our name, but I showed here on my phone that I could search my name and my flight confirmation number and then it would pull up my flight. I even showed her me typing my name to get my flight to come up and that it was clearly though my name but on American Airlines website it no longer showed the name once you searched the flight. She said that it needs to show the flight with my name next to it even though she saw me enter my name to get the flight to appear. I kept my cool and said I understand, but I feel like common sense is going out the window here. She then snapped and said we can speak with her manager instead and when he came in she told him that we were complaining about paying the 500 dollar debit card deposit instead of the credit card deposit of 200. THAT WAS NOT WHAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT AT ALL! We were talking about the flight information and I told the manger right away that she was being dishonest and that was not what we were discussing at all. He was very dismissive and defended his employee and was condescending towards us. Despite all of that he was much easier to work with than Carrol and had the common sense to see that we did indeed have our flight information. We then got our car and as we approached the exit gate we let the person inspecting know that the car had a slight scratch on the driver side and she ignored us and didn’t say anything. Then we asked if we were good to go and she didn’t say anything and just nodded her head and glared at us. Not a single word. It was very unprofessional from a business to not even respond to a customer when a customer speaks to you. Everyone who works there was incredibly rude and will look for any reason to not give you your car if you booked through a third party. I have never been in a place where everyone gives me dirty looks and finds any reason not to help. I work in customer service and I look for every reason to help a customer and will even bend over backwards to find loopholes. I’d be fired from my job immediately if I behaved the way the people here did. This evidently is an attitude that is carried out all the way to management. Do not rent here at all costs
If i could give this company 0 stars i would! the management at Ft Lauderdale FL was awful! i booked my car online & was given on price then when i got there they added all these other charges. & i mean like $200 worth! you try calling during the times they are open and they say they are closed! once you do get threw your on hold for 30+ minutes! you pay for this toll pass that is $11 but still get charged with toll fees! and they make you fill the tank and still charge you for gas. hope the heck is that possible. i should have just stayed with hertz! i hope this company gets better because boy! oh and don’t pay with a debit card they will RUN YOUR CREDIT!
Never use this service from the Philly airport. The location is the furthest from the terminal which means you have to wait the Longest for all shuttles. The lines to wait to get service during the day are so long it takes hours to get you vehicle, I had to actually leave and use Uber to get to my destination and lose a day on the Rental because the line wait was over 3 hrs and I could not wait any longer.
Awful experience. We booked a car and went to the airport to pick it up over July 4th weekend. When we got there, the line went OUTSIDE the office and we waited outside in the rain for about 30 minutes. Once we finally got inside, we waited another TWO hours. The line continued to grow longer and longer. We counted 80 people waiting inside and there was no social distancing whatsoever. Outside, we counted about 60. We then learned that People who got checked in were waiting for the keys to a car for hours as well……the entire 2 and a half hours, there were only two people working the entire time which was just absurd for a holiday weekend post plague. Fortunately the couple behind us walked to Budget across the street and told everyone that they got a car in 15 minutes without even having a reservation. Walked across the way to Budget and also booked a car in 15 minutes. Budget was swift and professional. We will never use Dollar again after this experience as we value our time too much.

There could not be a more god awful car agency in one of the crummiest airports of one of the dodgiest cities. The counter person just oozed scam, trying to trick you into every over charge, and really making you work to correct their every move. Do not let them slide. Come prepared with knowledge on all their policies and what you reserved. They are definitely out to get you here. Sketchy as hell. I had a completely different experience at Dollar LGA. They were excellent there.
Would be nice to know That a 10pm reservation won’t work because they close at 10pm. No information or shuttle service information. Had to walk over to Hertz
Made my reservation and arrived at the airport rental office and the line was out the door and just a few cars available. It took 1.5 hours to get to the desk and complete the process. They were assigning cars as they came in with no cars in reserve, very poor organization. The One bright sport was the personnel.

THERE ARE NO MORE CARS AVAILABLE TO RENT OUT ‼The employee literally wooshed me away with her arm gestures, offering no real explanation, nor any further assistance.As Im standing there with all my luggage, and with no way to remedy this situation quickly because of my blind trust in this company...All I can say is WT----What a great way to treat a PAYING CUSTOMER WHOS RENTING THE CAR FOR 7 DAYS!Needless to say, I was left panicky. And what triggered me to share this story is that I wasnt the only one this had happen to them. As I was trying to remedy my own situation, on my own. I watched as the employee did not honor another valued paying customer who also had a snap shot of hisconfirmation #!She shooed him away as well.Im sure this company will stick in my mind,as one I will never recommend nor ever TRY using again.
It took us over an hour to get our rental car. There was one person working while the line was out the door. After you made it to the person you had to sit down and wait until the car was ready. When I was the second to next person in line, the Dollar employee working the desk either let another employee or a friend, cut to the front ok the line. The bathrooms was filthy and smelled of urine. Do not Rent a car from this place!!! j
First off the drivers were excellent in service and very respectful and I commend them.However The ladies at the desk were very unpleasant youd better know exactly what to do there as they pushy and rude with little to no patience. Cant say I would recommend
**Make Sure To Read To The End!** Starts out great, ended horribly! This was honestly the fastest and easiest rental experience Ive ever had! Walked in gave them my license and debit card and was told my car is in slot 20 and to enjoy my car. It doesnt get any easier than that! **Well months later I can honestly tell you this is the worst company I think I have ever dealt with. I was paying weekly for my car rental. I realized probably 3-4 weeks into my rental that they were putting the money I had already paid them back into my account. Why on earth would they take the money I paid them and return it to my account. I went to my bank and tried to explain what dollar rental was doing and pnc didnt understand why they would be doing this either. Well long story short dollar rental acted like they knew nothing of this and said I still owed them the full balance. They hit my debit card for a few thousand that I had already paid and considerable overdrew my account. I will never deal with this company again and every time I hear their name I make sure to let the person know what they did. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!
If you have a return flight at 6 AM, DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL COMPANY!Our flight was at 6 AM, we had to be at the Philadelphia International Airport by 4 AM to go through TSA. Dollar opens at 7AM. Agents behind counter are not helpful or informative.
Representatives here are so slow. They dont ecen have a track of which cars are placed at which car spots and for every car they give a rental, they first go out to check each car for its number. Total useless and zero management. Never recommended to rent a car from here. Youll have big waiting lines always.
Do not make the same mistake I did. I booked on Priceline (never again), and cannot change or cancel my reservation. Standing in a horrible line with at least 100 other people waiting to get a car. Sweltering heat. There is no line at the other car rental places around us. I feel bad for the girl at the counter, but if you want to avoid an extra two hours at the airport while waiting outside to get a car, make sure you dont book a car with Dollar or Thrifty.
I booked the rental car through Expedia. I reserved pick up in Philly, drop off in New York City, but once we got there the lady at the counter said, I need to see your return flight ticket. I said, Im not flying out of here(we were flying out of Manhattan). She would not rent me the car now even though I specified that on the reservation unless I was flying out of Philly which seemed crazy to me. So here I am stuck with my two kids with no car. Also, there was going to be a $400 deposit which I didnt know about. I dont know if anything had to do with the fact that I just had a debit card, but I tried researching that before I went and I didnt see anything about any of these details. The lady at the desk just said well thats the unfortunate part of booking through a third party. It didnt seem to bother her one bit that we were just stranded there. We ended up having to taking Ubers everywhere which came out to about the same rate if you factor and we would have had to pay for parking. It worked out pretty good except in one place in Pennsylvania we got stranded for 2 hours and my little girl was crying and people thought we were homeless LOL, but I guess that was a memorable part of the trip. Still in my opinion this was really bad to leave people stranded without a car on vacation. It could have gone way worse. It could have ruined our whole trip and wasted all of our money.

Had a one way flight from Georgia bundled with car rental to take care of funeral arrangements. Got here and could not rent a car because we needed proof of return trip. We are returning in my deceased son-in-laws vehicle! Now finds are tied up and we are without transportation.

Why would any manager have only 2 desk agents on duty on one of the busiest travel days of the year (Wed before Thanksgiving)? The line was out the door and moving very slowly, and the self service kiosk was apparently not working. The tire pressure looked low when we finally got to the car, the guy in the lot who helped us and put more air in the tires was very nice and helpful. The woman at the exit booth was not friendly at all and clearly hated her job. Would not recommend this Dollar Rent-a-Car location unless they are giving you a car for free.

Waited in line for an hour at PHL, rushed through getting the car. Returned the next day to seek changes, and was rudely told by a man that I had driven off the lot, so no changes can then be made. When I asked if I could return the car, and get another with a new contract, I was told no.

Treated unfairly. Upon return of my rental,I pull into Dollar rental to question where I can get gas to full the vehicle prior to return and the attendant stated that Im unable to leave the establishment since they just scanned the car in. They charged me 110.00 for gas. I called to dispute and the customer service manager stated nothing could be done and that I need to pay the charge. This didnt occur at the Essington Ave location. I was planning to drive to the Essington location but saw the PHL airport location and pulled right in to question: 1) Wheres the closet gas station, and 2) can I return the car at this location. The attendant interpreted as if I wanted to return the car - at this point I was just asking questions...and would not of agreed to return for 110.00 fuel charge. I told them that I was going to bring the car back full of fuel- but they wouldnt let me cause they scanned in the car inappropriately. I wasnt ready to give the car back I just needed information. Again, I disputed but was made to pay. Ill never use Dollar again, nor will I recommend them.
The worst rental car I have ever received. The car reeked of smoke, the volume knob was broken, and less than 12 hours into it I received an email to turn the car in for an oil change.I will never recommend Dollar Rent A Car to anyone.
I will not be using Dollar Rent A Car again after my experience in Philadelphia. I was over-charged. They told me to contact Expedia who told me Dollar Rent a Car was the one over-charging me. They basically didnt credit me for me returning a car 4 days early. I felt they were difficult to get ahold of, put me off, and were not very pleasant to deal with.
Bad experience, I see a lot of other reviews on here with similar stories, reserved car not being available and hidden charges . Me and my party of 5, flight was delayed by 4 hours. When we got to the airport we had to wait about 30-40 minutes for a shuttle, while we stood watching all the other rental shuttles passing thru every 10 minutes or less. When we got to Dollar to pick up a mini van that I supposedly had fully paid for already. They didnt have one available .They rented the van that I had paid for and reserved to someone else because I wasnt there at the pick up time, which I though was mess up . Ive rented many times from other companies and had flight issues but the type of car I paid for would still be available, when I arrived late. We had 6 people and all of us had large bags. The largest vehicle that was left was an explorer, that was to small for all of us and our bags. I rented the van with Dollar though a 3 party so I knew I wasnt going to be able to get my money back . I ended up taking the explorer unwilling. It really inconvenience my party. Some of my party went looking for a a second vehicle, because of the lack of room in the explorer. they found a van, from a different rental service. what really got me is the fact that I had already paid for a van and they let someone get it, It should have at least been held for 24hrs or they should have call me before renting it out. I tried to reach them to let them know I was going to be late but I could not find a direct line to the Philly airport Dollar rental,. When I return the Explorer I was also charged more fees and taxes $83 worth on a vehicle I only drove for 40 miles. I have never had that issue with any car rental service I used before what ever I would paid though Priceline would be the total cost, except maybe insurance, and gas fees. I will never rent a vehicle From Dollar or Thrifty again.

Shuttle was not frequent and poorly marked1-2 people working counter for 22 or so customers … I waited 1.5 HOURS in line. It took me longer in line to get car than to fly here from Atlanta. PATHETICAnd then once I got to counter she tells me there will be a 5 to 30 minute wait for the car.
Had a car rental paid / reserved and my flight was delayed due to weather. I was not going to land until the next day. Spent 2hrs on the phone trying to get them to just add a note saying I would be picking the car the next day. I didnt ask for any change in price was still willing to pay for the full booking. I was told that they would only extend my pick up time for an extra $150 and I would still have to pay for the full booking. Lets recap, Ive paid for this car, not asking for any money back just letting them know that I was delayed and would be late picking up the car. Its already there they just have to leave it there until I land. They are willing to not only get a free day rental but for an extra $150 theyll not do anything and I can pick it up late, and that is the only way I could do this. How generous of them. DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL CAR COMPANY THEY ARE A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS AND WILL TRY AND CHEAT YOU IF THEY GET THE CHANCE

Got a confirmation email to pick up a car at 11pm after a long flight only to find that the location had closed at 10pm, and was thus stranded without a vehicle in the middle of the night while I waited for hours on hold with customer service. Will never rent a car with Dollar again.
The staff were courteous and professional. We had no issues with the mechanics or performance of the car. We were unhappy with the car not having been cleaned before the rental. It had been lightly vacuumed but it was not wiped down or sanitized before we took possession of the vehicle.
I drove around for 3 days before I realized there were drugs in my car that did not belong to me. My tire pressure was also extremely low in 1 tire.

Hands down i love renting with this company when i come to town. There cars are clean staff is amazing and you literally get what you pay for. I love it they treat you like family. I cant wait to use them again on my next trip!!!
Please read the negative reviews, and DO NOT ignore them (like I did)! I made a reservation last night, only to get over here to the place for them to tell me that in order to use a debit card, the reservation has to be made 24 hours in advance! That is something that the customer service representative should have told me on the phone. Now Im stuck, and the woman at the desk didnt even make an attempt to try to resolve the issue. Half a star!

The car was fine, but a terrible experience finishing my booking and and picking it up.Details:-Shuttle from terminal in Philadelphia airport took forever (>25 minutes)-It was unclear that Dollar and Thrifty shared a shuttle-Long lines and extremely slow service when picking up the car-Frustrating, dishonest hard sell of extras from the customer service agent at the counter-Car had a previous renters water bottle rolling around in it - how clean are they really?I was lured in by the low price quoted online, but I will not be renting from Thrifty again. The price advantage is nearly wiped out by the extras and fees pushed at the counter, and the experience is so poor that it isnt worth it anyway.

I selected 1 because there was no zero. I booked a full size vehicle. I arrived off a 3 hour flight. Got to the desk and the lady stated we don’t have a full size. I said ok, that is what I booked- can you help me out. She states, it is not here and just looks at me, She never offered any kind of customer service or help. Finally I asked for the manager. They gave me a mid size vehicle and called it an upgrade. They acted like they were doing me a favor. Then when I returned, they charged me for gas when they were not supposed to.Overall, customer service was horrible and Dollar itself was not willing to work with me. They offered a coupon for a future rental.. I don’t want to rent with dollar again so why would I want a coupon. Just horrible.
When I say this was literally THE worst rental experience i’ve ever had. Cannot recommend against using Dollar more. So many hidden and unclear costs, terrible customer service and helplines. The staff was really unhelpful during my experience.
2 hours and 45 minutes in line waiting for a car that was reserved and prepaid. Most of that outside in the 90 degree weather. Only 2 people working. Absolutely terrible experience.

Worst car rental experience by far!I booked my rental through priceline. I paid in full upfront through priceline, but when I got there had to pay an additional $150 in fines, fees and taxes as they put it. Plus the $200 hold or whatever it was for damages if it came back damaged. I asked about the toll process because I was going to be taking a ton of toll roads. The woman just told me to drive where ever that I will get a bill in the mail. I said theres no fees? She said NOPE. So I did what I was told. Well my bill has a $15.00 charge PER TOLL!!! So my $0.60 toll was $15.60! Like what the actual freak. So I called all over creation and they are nothings removing these fees when I was forced to use it electronically, tolls are closed due to COVID-19. For sure WILL NEVER EVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN. Save yourself the trouble and stay far far away. Theyre rated low for a reason!!!
Terrible....cannot return cars in Philly before 7am! If you have a 830am flight you will not make it. No after hours contact to ask questions.
Dollar accepts debit cards, but not ones from online banking institutions such as Cashapp, Chime, Venmo & so forth. If you ever have to wait, it wont take long; theyre pretty swift.

The experience with this car rental was average. As with many other car rental companies, the prices are misleading. Although you may get a good price for the car rental, the price of some of the extra features are unreasonable. For example, the price of the easy pass was higher than the price of the car. In terms of the location, it is very close to the airport and the shuttle was picked me up within five minutes of calling the company.The service was average as well. There were no long lines at the counter, but the way that the price information was provided was misleading. Instead of telling me what was the cost of the easy pass, she just added it to the bill. If I would have known the easy pass was going to cost 16 dollars per day (for a car that had a cost of fourteen dollars per day), I would not have selected the feature.Another issue is that I lost a phone cover in a previous car and they stated that they could not access their lost and found location because the manager was not there. Instead, they asked me to give them a call during the week and they could ship the item (which usually is very expensive).
The 2019 Chevy Impala we were given the air conditioning was not blowing cold as it should even when turned down the lowest it would go on some of the hottest days it was needed most. When trying to contact the place i picked up there was no direct line to that location. So after going thru the multiple prompts on the phone I was advised to waste my time and drive back an hour one way to request a new vehicle at the same time wasting my gas and get nothing for it while on my vacation. When mentioned problem during dropping vehicle off the guy checking the car blew it off so there is no doubt in my mind that problem will be passed on to others. The air conditioning was set as low as possible when we got in the car so that should have been a sign. I honestly would not recommend Dollar in the future for those reasons. Would have been nice if someone could have dropped a new vehicle off to us but that was not an option
Quick drop off, love the shuttle drivers, always helpful. They probably need to retire the car I had though, drove pretty rough.
