They messed up my haircut. I asked for a skin fade and they left patches. This was my first and last time here. Do not recommend this place at all. Please learn how to do fades.

For 4+ years, these gentleman have been trimming my head and beard.This is the only barber shop where I will spend the money.And when I eventually move out of the city, I will still commute back to Philly just for their barbering services.Truly, a 5-star ⭐ business!

It’s just a not a good place in general, went with a friend and they were very unprofessional, wouldn’t listen to what we asked for, or even listen to input while the cut was being done. They also don’t seem to clean their clippers which is extremely unsanitary and potentially dangerous.

Liked it but they charge $20 and not $15 as their website says...

This is my favorite barber shop. I have known the guys who work there for over 10 years. Theyre all very friendly and professional people, and i highly recommend this barber shop.

First I tried calling and the number wasn’t in service, next when I went inside to see if they could do walk in’s, the guy took a quick glance at me and said no and I don’t understand why. Only went here because of the convenience but never again.

Barber was quick to finish, not paying attention to any detail. I asked for a bald fade, got nothing close to that. There are weird patches that he missed on the sides and back of my head. He also cut to his own style disregarding what i had explained him before starting. The sides he lined up are not symmetrical and look terrible. Definitely not going there again. Now I still need to pay someone else to get things fixed up in a few days. Would recommend really reading the other reviews carefully as I had not before.

I found this place about a year ago and after my first cut, I stopped going to other barbers. The price is a little higher than other places, but they were able to do exactly what I wanted and it is quick, to the point service. It is nice to have a barber you can go to before you have to leave to be somewhere and know you wont be in the chair for over an hour. Excuse my spelling if the names are wrong, but Shem and Hommad are fantastic barbers. Very polite and genuine.

From my experience, this is the best bang-for-your-buck barbershop in Philadelphia. The barbers here are skilled, efficient, courteous, yet not overly talkative (that’s my personal preference while getting my haircut. I prefer to just relax rather than chat all too much). They always consider your input and check for any touch ups at the end of the cut before sending you on your way. I really appreciate the attention to detail they manage to have in such a short amount of time. You can’t beat the price -- $15 for a regular cut, but I always tip at least $5 more since they are such genuine barbers. In these times, I am tipping 100%, because who knows when they will need to shut down again, and how that will impact the business. I hope everyone who can afford it does as well, so we can help keep this great asset to West Philly in business for years to come.

Best barbershop in University City. Have gotten solid cuts and beard trims from all four guys. They know what theyre doing and only need a brief description from you before they get to work. Quick, no nonsense, great value for the price (though you should make sure you have cash, there is an ATM on the street below if needed). Highly recommend any Penn students in need of a cut to make the walk over.

Makkah is an amazing shop. The energy and ambience is perfect. Even when they have people in the shop, the speed of the cutting experience remains without disruption. The haircuts are expensive in comparison to other shops in the city, but both the quality and experience are undoubtedly better than many shops in Philadelphia.

Ive been going to these guys for years. Always feels like home and I look forward to my cut its always pleasurable and fun. Soccer games usually playing on tvs. Real and Barcelona fans and others inside. Little to say it gets real. Clean cuts and professional. Best cuts for your budget!

A great West Philly barber shop with fast service, friendly and thorough barbers, good prices, and the most convenient hours. And if youre one of the many Philly residents with a beard and need it trim, this is one of the best places to go. My cut is a bit simple but theres never been a time that I havent been in and out of this place in 30 minutes.

I prefer Makkah because you get a decent cut for a cheap price. Not the cleanest place in the world but its not too bad as well. The barbers are nice and chatty.

Best barbershop in Philly. $20 for awesome haircuts and all four of their barbers are talented and experienced. Favorite is Said (black bandana). You tell them what you want, they do their thing, and youre out in 20-25 minutes. Very efficient operation. Will come back every time.

I went in to this shop because of the high review rating, but I was pretty disappointed. Ill start with the positive, which was that the barber was quick. But the other parts of my experience werent great. It looked like all of the surfaces were covered with hair - yes, Im aware that this is a barbershop, but this was a whole other level: a layer of bits of hair covering everything in sight. The shears, razors, combs, etc didnt look like theyd been cleaned. My actual haircut wasnt terrible, but it was in no way good, nor was it what Id asked for. Yup, showed my barber a picture of what I wanted, but what I got was Generic Asian Male Haircut #3. I had to go to another barber in Center City to have it cleaned up and looking decent. Shame on me for wanting a cheap haircut - not worth it.

Reviews are much higher than they should be. Haircut is cheap but equipment is not cleaned. Man used a trimmer and comb that already had hair from someone else on it. Barbasol containers on the counters are not used. The place moved like a production line and the cleanliness is terrible.
