I cannot say enough about Volvo Palo Alto! My mom, who is an older adult, had not bought a car in literally 30 years. She visited their dealership 6 months ago on her own and had such a positive experience. Amir M. was so knowledgeable, patient, accessible and respectful and all their staff, including manager Henry, were kind, friendly and professional. She ended up buying a preowned Honda from them at a great price and it drives like a dream. I highly recommend them.

I was extremely interested in a specific car. I called and left 2 messages with the salesman. Starting on 2/2. Requested a call back both times. No call back. I sent 2 emails no response to my questions other than the car was in for detail and pictures would be available on 2/10. On my third email (2/9)I was informed the car sold the day before. I guess the moral of the story is to make sure you actually talk to someone if you want to buy a car from them.

I had a check engine light come on in my Volvo V60 polestar engineered. It was for a fault in the hybrid motor system.After taking a look, Volvo of Palo Alto decided to take apart the transmission to get to the motor and replace it. By this point, my check engine light was off anyways. I asked if it could have been a software glitch. Volvo Palo Alto said no, and that the entire hybrid system would need to be replaced.They do not offer loaners, so I decided to go to a different dealership (Putnam Volvo in Burlingame) since I knew the service would take time. They scanned the car and claimed it was a software glitch and that there was no need to rip my car apart to get to the hybrid motor. Any shop, no matter how good, cannot reassemble or install a transmission to the same rigorous standards or as well the factory. I’m glad that the people at Putnam Volvo are enthusiasts who understand the importance of maintaining a car’s factory integrity unless absolutely necessary. Cars, especially modern ones, throw up check engine lights due to software glitches all the time.Volvo Palo Alto and Putnam Volvo of Burlingame would have both profited a lot from the factory warranty that would have paid them for the parts and service, but only one decided to waste my time and potentially make my car less mechanically sound.Seems like they value profit more than customer loyalty.Take from this situation what you will, and keep in mind, other dealers offer you a loaner to drive while they work on your car. I can’t extrapolate any further, but I’ll always be going to a different dealer from now on.

This dealership is amazing. Our sales executive, Amir Behnara, took good care of us and we felt he had our interest at heart. We only went for a test drive and ended up buying the car we drove and leaving our Audi Q8 with them. The whole thing took about 1h45min. How amazing is that!

I had entered the vehicle information on the website and they quoted me $23,000. When I went in though, they lowered the offer to $14,000. I sold the car the next day for $22,000 elsewhere.

Tl;dr service department is sleazy: Robert is incompetent, unprofessional, and dishonest.Sent my car in Saturday afternoon to get service for a software issue. Service department advised they should be able to take a look by Monday, but finally got to work on the car on Tuesday morning as per my appointment. I called the service department Tuesday afternoon because Id received no updates. Robert called back later in the day and informed me that my service advisor Gilbert had determined that there was an issue with the CEM, but that he needed to do more work to determine if it was a hardware fault, if it was isolated to the CEM, and if a software reload would suffice.It turns out Gilbert had his 2 days off on Wednesday and Thursday, so no work was done on the car from Tuesday evening till Thursday. Was informed of this only when calling in on Thursday morning, despite checking in the day before. Despite no additional diagnosis having been done since last call, Robert had the cheek to inform me that the entire CEM needed to be replaced. When asked about his previous update that work needed to be done to determine if it was a software or hardware fault, Robert claimed that he had made no such statement and it was guaranteed that the module was physically faulty and needed replacing. The call also did not inspire confidence that Robert knew what he was talking about: when asked for what diagnosis work had been done, Robert was unable to specify, mumbling some nonsense about test driving my car (when it could not even be started). Furthermore, when asked for what the diagnostic readout (through VIDA, the official Volvo service software) determined of the CEM, Robert had no clue (It just doesnt work, what more is there to say?) got defensive and loudly stuttered (to his coworkers) that I didnt trust the service department, then insinuated that my car likely wasnt worth saving anyway and I should just purchase a new one. When asked if the CEM replacement would fix the problem, he wasnt even able to provide a guarantee, likely because he had no idea what was even wrong in the first place.On arriving at the dealership a few hours later to get the car towed to someone who actually takes their job seriously, Robert greeted me at the door and proceeded to insinuate that the best course of action was to junk my car and get a new one. He then expressed doubt that other shops would be able to do better than they had because we know our stuff, and we know your car needs to have the entire CEM replaced. He then proceeded to repeat lies about how my car had been test driven and extensively tested for 3 hours and how hed been generous by only charging me for an hours work, for an hourly rate thats twice that of any independent shop in the area. He also ludicrously claimed that if any other shops were able to fix it, it would be because they hacked it together.Ill cut to the chase: the independent service shop that specializes in Volvo electronics was able to get my car fixed by reloading the software on the CEM for less than a quarter of the price for a CEM replacement. So much for being a hardware defect, and so much for the dealership being competent. But this likely doesnt come as a surprise—given the other reviews for this dealership, it seems like their service department is plain sleazy.In summary, extremely unprofessional behavior from Robert in particular at the service department. Rude and condescending, which is maybe okay if you know what youre doing and saying, but Robert was utterly incompetent. My condolences to those of you who have to deal with this blowhard.P.S. Gilbert did good work—pity hes saddled with a jobsworth.

Volvo PA Employee Crashed Into My CarI recently had moved to the area so this was my first experience with the dealer. I brought my C30 into Volvo PA for a routine service on a Friday. Marc Laza was my service advisor. When the car was finished being serviced, Marc called me and let me know that one of their employees had T-Boned into my car at the dealer.This is when the problems began. He told me that they would fix it, but he did not offer to give me a loaner car. I had to argue that I needed a replacement car in the meantime, and eventually they said they could get me one 3 days later. So they returned my broken car to me to drive over the weekend (which is embarrassing to say the least) and I had to drop it off Monday to get a loaner. Whereupon it took 2 weeks for their body shop to fix the car. I had to regularly call for updates since Marc, Brandon, or Liz from the service department did not feel the need to be proactive and keep me informed.Finally when the car was returned on a Saturday, the exterior was fine and returned to a new car appearance, but when I got home, I noticed there was chemical residue inside the rear of the car on the trim and all over the seats (presumably left from the body shop). This was surprising, because the paperwork I was given said Volvo PA cleaned the inside of my car prior to returning it to me.I was upset and called Liz who was extremely rude to me, and transferred me to Marc, who said there was nothing they could do until Monday. I refused to take that answer and brought my car right back. Oddly enough in the 25 minutes from speaking with Marc to arriving, they found their new car detailing team was onsite (which means either Marc was lying to me or they are oblivious to who actually works there). They cleaned my car and returned it to me (by Marc telling me the keys were in the ignition and walking away without having me inspect the car again), but while I was waiting I saw several employees not wearing masks or wearing them improperly in violation of both Santa Clara County ordinances and California Law.The worst part was the lack of any sort of apology or empathy from the staff. They seemed to not care that they damaged my car (likely permanently reducing the value since it has now been in an accident) and were rude to me at every step. I have loved my Volvo and was thinking I would replace it with a new one soon, but if this is the kind of service I can expect, I will never be buying one again.

Absolutely atrocious service. I bought a 2016 XC90, and it is an absolute lemon. I have brought it back to Volvo of Palo alto several times for service, and they never fail to provide crummy service. They dont return phone calls, cant tell you when the car will be ready, and generally treat me like I dont matter and they dont care. In my latest service visit, I made an appointment, but when I arrived they told me that they wouldnt be able to service my car that day and probably not the next day either.I will never buy another volvo, and never return to volvo palo alto. They are that bad.

Its a very nice place expect you need to know what way you are approaching this location its on the corner and on el camino heading South as you approach the intersection the last driveway b4 corner is the best way to inter an park if you turn the corner that driveway is the exit route. Ive a few times have made that mistake and I dont have any excuse for I drive a tow truck and I should know better Ive now corrected my mistake. .nowadays I try and give one of the staff a call and ask them witch side is better for me to drive in an drop off than get out of there way fast. I have to say that worked for me.

Lyman helped me through the process of test driving the use cars I had been eying, answering my questions, being patient, being passionate about Volvos and the car I was checking out, all while applying no pressure or haste, and all while being personable and enjoyable to be with. Poor customer service experience.Anytime I try to book a service, I need to wait 1-2 weeks. With Mercedes I used to get appointment right away.Even thought I book appointment the earliest time in the morning, they dont check my car until evening, before closing, which forces me to leave my car overnight, without even knowing what repairs needs. Their service is not appropriate for Volvo customers, which supposed to be a luxury car

We decided to stopped by but we were concerned if dealers may will be same likes other staffs that I read at the most reviewers commented. Especially this Volvo Palo Alto dealers prove us wrong!!!! When we left the salesperson said his manager would call us to discuss purchase price. No call was made. I recently fulfilled my lifelong dream of buying a Maserati Ghibli in June 2019 and after just a few weeks of use, the car stopped working with no reason on 10/10/2019.The car, a 2015 Maserati Ghibli with 8,716 miles in the odometer was purchased on 05/08/2019 from Volvo Cars Palo Alto dealership located at 4190 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94306.I had to get the car towed to the Maserati of Burlingame service center located at 2 California Dr Suite C, Burlingame, CA 94010 and the outcome of their evaluation was that the engine is seized and needs to be replaced in its entirety for the car to work again. The service center reached out to the Maserati Internal team to explore options but unfortunately after reviewing the case, Maserati Inc. has decided that nothing can be done about my vehicle.The warranty lapsed on 09/25/2019, which is just a couple of weeks prior of the engine failure; with 11,500 miles and its hard to believe that such catastrophic engine failure went unnoticed and just happened spontaneously.Im writing this review about the Volvo Palo Alto for selling defected car with engine problem, So far my experience is not matching what your dealership has worked so hard and for so many decades to communicate; I implore you to find the good will to look into my car’s case and see if there is any way that your dealership can help me.

I had been working with four dealerships trying to find just the right color combos and price. I knew in the first 5 minutes talking with Patrick that I had found the right place. If you want them to charge you for a service that costs $300 and then not perform the service correctly, which results in a $8000 repair bill (broken engine) where the entire cost is put on you (the customer), then this is the dealership for you.Do not expect any favors from this organization, their management, the Volvo Area Manager or for that matter, Volvo as a whole.Enjoy your $300 oil changes without the maintenance reviews that are supposed to occur with it. If your car is out of warranty, recommend one of the non-dealer Volvo service centers in instead.

I scheduled my car to be serviced here but they could not find my reservation. I said that I can come back some other day but they said that they can take my car. I told them I need it the next day by 10:00am and was told it will be ready. However, the car was not ready before the promised time and there was no extra work need to be done. The service advisor did not even call me telling me it will be late. I had to wait in the waiting area for an hour and reschedule my entire day because of this.

UPDATE: I just bought an XC40. I appreciated the friendly, no pressure approach very much. It was extremely helpful that Malcolm knew the car so well, and was able to show me all the features Id been wanting in a car - that no other cars have had. I was very happy that Christian tried so hard to get me into the OSD program, and when that failed, that he was still able to get me the car that I wanted. And Im loving my new XC40!

Today I had a test-drive provided by this dealership (Sohee B. was assisting me) and my overall experience was great. To tell the truth, I am prejudiced about Volvos and, during the test drive, I wanted to test a set of particular features Volvo advertises most. So I tested all of them without any restrictions. The test-drive itself was long enough, so I could feel the car (steering, acceleration, breaking, safety). The test-drive was gently guided: I was given well-timed directions, so I could concentrate on the car rather on the route. I also want to highlight that I was given all information I was requesting on the test car. And I also want to personally thank Sohee for her patience. Im kinda a talkative person and I like to ask tons of questions (especially when comes to cars). So she did great and answered all of my questions. So here is my 5 stars. Well done!

I own a Volvo S60 and called this afternoon to make an appointment with the service department to replace a tire that has been damaged on the drive to the bay area by a pothole and was told that there was no appointment available until March 8th. I asked if there was flexibility due to the emergency with my car (I had been advised by my local service manager in LA that I shouldnt drive with the tire in that condition) and he stated that even if I take the car tomorrow it could take one or two days...(just to change a tire???). It was not the fact that there was no appointment available, but the total lack of empathy based on the above circumstance and the unwillingness to be of assistance.Just poor service.

Volvo Palo Alto is the antithesis of most car dealerships. Instead of overbearing car salespersons and sneaky car jargon, we were met with a friendly family-like atmosphere. Soheila Babakhani really took care of us to make sure our car trade-in and purchase went as smoothly as possible. As a first time car buyer, she walked me through each step and explained the benefits of refinancing, etc. Although our initial trade-in value seemed low, they Sohee really worked with us to come to an agreement we were all happy with. At the end of the day, I traded in my car that no longer worked for me, and was able to finance a car I loved for a steal. Thank you guys!

Bad car purchased experience! When we point out the defects on the used car, they said they will fix them. Im not sure if they will keep their words, so I asked them write the defects we find out and write their promise. I also told them the bad experience previous I had in other dealer. They said they were not that dealer, theyll keep their words and admit what they wrote. But, once the vehicle is purchased, they didnt do anything on fixed the defects. I try to argue with the manager and the manager just yell to me saying that what do you want when you are buying a used vehicle. Their face is totally different just after you pay your vehicle.Besides, they were very very unprofessional about the license plate registration. They said the vehicle will keep using the old plates which in the trunk. I asked them can they send the request of new plate, they said thats California DMV policy, so they cannot process that. So I registered my vehicle in company, my apartment under the old plate number. But there is a new plate mail to me from DMV with a totally different plate number, I had to change all the number from all where I registered.Since I move to my new home a week after I did the purchase, I ask them if they can send request to DMV changing my address. They said yes but the plate is still mailing to my old address.I really doubt their performance in selling vehicle!In additional, they didnt even give a free oil change which is common for any vehicle purchased.So unless your dream vehicle only be available at their shop, I strongly do not recommend you go to Volvo Palo Alto buying the vehicle!

Yesterday at 1:30 the sales manager lied to me twice about a required Takata airbag replacement completed on a pre-owned Acura. Only after I insisted for documentation did he admit the airbag had not even been ordered and would take 5 weeks to arrive once arranged with Acura. It appears he is willing to both lie and endanger customer safety to make a sale.

I lost the keys to my Volvo and I only had one and I called AAA and they said that I had to go straight to the dealership to get the keys made and I have been waiting for days now first of all they didnt tell me that they dont work on weekends so they accepted my vehicle on a Friday but never alerted me to the fact that they would not be available in that I would be its Monday and the gentleman says he doesnt know when he can fit in because he still has cars from last week he was very polite telling me that he was not going to help me but not in those words and Ive been waiting and still no phone call from them most of the time I call the number goes straight to voicemail, but the man gave me no clue as to when he would be helping me and I think its terrible customer service all I need is a key.

I make and appointment 4 days before my arrival to buy a car. Before i leave from Calexico Ca to Palo Alto (8 hours drive) i make a call to confirm my appointment and the availability of the car, they confirm the appointment and said that the car was still available. And when i had a 5 hours drive i recivided a message that the car was sold that day. This is very unprofessional.

I just had my car serviced here for the 75,000 miles maintenance for my XC90 V6 2005. I called several shops to get a quote for the maintenance, believe it or not Carlson Volvo in Palo Alto was cheaper so, I took my car there. But here is the catch, I then received a call from the service department and they told me that the car needs a repair for several things. I dont know anything much about car so I said OK, well I end up paying 4 times the amount of the original price, I end up paying $1,800.00. Im so unhappy about it, this thing happened to me before (same thing, cheap when for quoting but somehow, once checked theres always something wrong with the car, or some repairs needed that doubles or triples the amount of the original quote. I seldom drive my car, I dont even put 800 miles a year. I asked if all the repairs are necessary and of course they said yes. Sigh.

I was there today for the first service of our XC60. The service was a couple of months early due to a computer glitch that caused the car to warn that service was past due. They took car of the service for us, updated the computer and comped the 10k service since it was done early. Well likely buy our next car here too!
