My son LOVES going to Sylvan. His confidence has grown so much since he started. He has been to sylvan a few years ago in a different location & had great results. When he found himself struggling in school he came to me and said Mom, I need sylvan again. Please.I cant recommend this program enough! Great teachers, great staff, great results. Totally worth it!
An amazing place for any child that has slipped through the cracks in the major skill sets. They design an individual plan based on initial testing to help your child master foundation skills theyve missed and get to where they need to be. It is very expensive, I will not lie, but well worth the money and they are very willing to work with you on payments.
My son enjoys going to Sylvan. He likes the teachers that he has had and he said, It is better than going to regular school. They have been very flexible with our schedules since we travel 1 1/2 each way. Thank you for helping my son.
I love Sylvan! Yes its pricey, but how can you put a price on watching your childs confidence in their scholastic ability increase? My daughter was a grade behind due to a tragic family circumstance, and hated school and feeling behind her classmates. Sylvan and their patient and dedicated team sparked her interest in learning again raised her confidence and unlocked her love of learning again! It broke my heart to watch her feel so bad about herself for being behind due to circumstances that she could not help! Now, she is caught up and has loved the friends she has made at Sylvan and the team of professionals who make her feel so welcome and loved and accepted no matter what she is going through! Thank you Sylvan!
Ive had a wonderful experience through the years working w Sylvan. My youngest is weekly working on reading. His improvement is so wonderful to see! Thanks Sylvan
Sylvan has helped my daughter so much! We can tell such a change in the way that she thinks about math problems and solves them. Her confidence and enthusiasm about math has gone up so much!We love that she doesn’t move on until she masters a concept. It’s such a change from public school.
I initially was only going to have my daughter attend Sylvan over the summer, mainly to prepare her for the next grade she was entering. However, once it was explained to me, all of the programs Sylvan had to offer, I instantly knew my other children would benefit greatly from the time they spent at Sylvan. My oldest child never really struggled in school but I knew participating in Sylvans study skills program that he would enter his next grade (and every grade) with an advantage. What child couldnt use better studying skills? He also participated in a math program that ensured he wouldnt regress in his math skills over the summer. My youngest child I had in Sylvan is my early reader. Hes only entering the first grade but I felt at home, and with 4 other siblings, I just couldnt challenge him enough. Sylvan provided him with some new reading skills, and more importantly, some comprehension skills, that really set the course for his continued love of reading.Overall, I have to say that my children enjoyed learning this summer. They enjoyed the interaction with the teachers. They were able to learn at their own pace which alleviated a lot of frustration. Although at times it wasnt the first place they wanted to be this summer, they always had a smile on their face after their session and felt proud of themselves for working toward and reaching goals. I am impressed with the programs director and the teachers. It is obvious how much they enjoy teaching and I always felt they took a genuine interest in my children. We have enjoyed our time at Sylvan and plan on continuing to take advantage of the many great programs and teachers they have to offer!
I absolutely love Sylvan! The teachers and staff are so nice and attentive! My daughter felt like she was special and her confidence is so much better now! Yes its really expensive, but you pay for what you get. She is now ready for school at the level shes supposed to be! Im happy she wont be struggling this year like she had since kindergarten. Its worth the money! Its the best investment for my daughters future I could ever make!
My daughter had been struggling in math for quite some time. She actually requested to attend this center. They have been so amazing. Her confidence has sky rocketed. She has her math homework out before I even have to ask. Her teachers have been so terrific! I am thankful for all the work they have put into her success. I would highly recommend this center for your childs needs. I also appreciate their availability with their schedules, makes it easy for my child to attend.
Before Sylvan, my son struggled with self confidence and his ability to read. He was scoring low and was recommended for Title 1. We came to Sylvan hoping to improve his scores and to gain confidence. Within a month, he picked up a book by himself and started reading. He started writing and participating more in his class at school. His scores improved greatly but the best thing of all is that he has confidence--cant put a price on that.
Sylvan has been a great blessing to our family. From the super-friendly staff and marvelous teachers (all of whom our kids actually like) to the well-laid out and attractive facility, our experience with Sylvan has been just fantastic. One of the best things about Sylvan is that they really do focus on each child. Our boys are not always attentive in school so its a delight to find they actually pay attention when they go to Sylvan (we didnt just take Sylvans word for it--we can actually look in the window and see them learning). Overall, Sylvan is probably the single most important improvement weve made in our kids learning since they started going to school. Highly recommended.
Everyone has been so awesome to work with and it’s great to see improvements in our child!
Sylvan has been a wonderful experience for us. Our child has progressed in her academic abilities, moving from below average to on track in only 21 hours of work. In addition, her overall confidence and social skill have improved. We are delighted to see her take on life tasks that in the past she would either avoid or require extensive promptings. The sylvan experience has been a great one for us.
Sylvan Learning Center of Orem has been awesome! I love that there is a satellite classroom in Spanish Fork for convenience since I live in Spanish Fork. My 8th grade daughter has struggled with math for the past 2 years, this year her grade had been an F. When she began tutoring with Sylvan, after only about a month, her grades and attitude in math starting vastly improving! So much so that her teacher took time out to mail a note home to me applauding her for her hard work and improvement in focusing and learning in class. She currently is holding a B+ and shes striving to bring that up to an A.My daughter absolutely loves going to tutoring, something I totally didnt think would be the case since she dreaded math so badly. Her tutoring instructor is Saane and she is wonderful! My daughter took to her right away and absolutely loves to work with her. Saane has such a positive attitude and is always praising her students It is because of her that my daughter has started to actually like math and has such a positive attitude towards learning more math skills. The office manager Alexis is so welcoming and is so pleasant to work with. She will do whatever it takes to accommodate your wants and needs. She and I have a once a month review meeting to see the progress that my daughter is making and also where she may possibly be needing extra help. Getting my daughter tutoring from Sylvan has been the best decision I have made for her future academic goals!
My experience was really something to rave about, hence this review. Ultimately, this center and its staff were one of a kind. They worked with my children to help them improve in so many facets of their education. Before Sylvan school and learning was a very dreaded subject at my house. Now they love it and are excited to have started school this past week. Just as a last note: The staff is incredible. Specifically one Danielle. She was super helpful in all that she did. She knew the ins and outs of that whole center and answered every question we had. We will be back, if we need it. Thanks Sylvan
They are good, I think it helps me alot.
We absolutely love sylvan!!! It has done amazing things for our daughter, she has come so far in just the couple months shes been there. And the staff is amazing, we were lost on what to do with our daughter cause she was a little behind, and wow this place exceeded our expectations!!!I would recommend them to anyone!!!
Sylvan Learning Center was an answer to our prayers for our daughter. She had been struggling in school this last year and unfortunately we did not receive the kind of support anyone would hope for in a school teacher. I was at my wits end when I found Sylvan. From start to finish, Sylvan has been such an amazing and inspiring experience for my daughter, and myself. I have watched her confidence grow more every day and she has blossomed into a great reader and a much more confident, happier girl. She fell in love with the teachers and has made a best friend for life in the center director. She just completed her program and will miss her time at Sylvan. Due to such a positive response, we recently enrolled my 6 year old son in the program, who struggles with reading as well, and I am so excited to watch him in his journey with Sylvan. I would recommend this program and center to anyone 100 times over. Thank you Sylvan Learning Center of Orem!
I absolutely love this program and its staff. My daughter was struggling in school. Reading time was as if I was punishing her. When she started sylvan she hated reading and now its so exciting to see her read on her own. Her teacher at school has even told me its remarkable how much her reading has blossomed. The teachers at Sylvan care about the success of the kids and its noticeable. My daughter loves going, its fun for her.
Sylvan in Orem has been such a great experience for my daughter. She had been struggling with math and needed some extra attention that she just couldn’t get from her school. Danielle at Sylvan was very helpful. She’s a truly genuine person who is there to make sure each child who comes through their doors gets the help and attention they deserve. Danielle was able to answer all of my questions and concerns and was very knowledgable about what services they offered to get my daughter on the right track. Through their assessment process, my daughter was able to receive a custom program tailored to her needs. My daughter met with her teacher at Sylvan for several weeks and her confidence and grades have improved dramatically. Danielle kept me informed about my daughters progress throughout our time there which helped me know that we were in good hands. The personalized attention my daughter received at Sylvan and the dedicated teachers and staff were just what she needed to become a more successful student.
My child has been able to overcome some incredible road blocks with her learning disability because of the help she has received at Sylvan Learning Center. Sarah is an amazing director who honestly cares about your childs success. Sarah and her team will go above and beyond what they need to do to make sure your child has success!!! Thank you, Sylvan for helping my child become the best she can be!
My son was behind in math and reading, I brought him in to see Sarah the Director, she assured me that they could get him to be on level and if I wanted to continue to get him reading above grade level. I was a bit skeptic. But I trusted Sarah and seemed like a good program. Today I can tell you I am one HAPPY and PROUD parent. Not only is he on level with math and reading but they did such a great job he is still attending and now reading above grade level!Thank You!
My experiences at Sylvan in Orem have been amazing! I have seen many students, both young and old, enter Sylvan with problems and discouragement regarding grades, keeping on top of homework, or having self-esteem issues. However, after working with enthusiastic teachers, the students feel proud of their work! They walk out of Sylvan feeling accomplished, brighter, and having the tools they need to succeed in school. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, and the kids and teachers both love being there! Sylvan is a miracle worker! Thanks, Sylvan!
I was part of the ‘Sylvan Family’ for almost 7 years. I refer to it that way because that truly is what being part of this company – whether as an employee or a customer- is like. I previously worked as a Center & Educational Director at 4 of their 5 locations (Orem, Riverton, West Valley and Layton). While having the privilege of working at Sylvan, I saw MIRACLES happen in the lives of my families and students. I have seen and worked with students who have gone from not being able to read to being ahead of their class. Students who had given up on themselves in every educational area, found their self-confidence (when given the skills one-on-one) to become A students with scholarship opportunities. I don’t have the words (or space) to even touch on the lives forever changed by the amazing programs, teachers, and directors in this company.Next to the amazing results that I’ve seen in students and families that completed their programs at Sylvan, the thing that most impressed me about this company is there dedication to find a solution for every family regardless of that families limited financial options. Sylvan may not initially be the ‘cheapest’ educational option out there… but not only is it by far the BEST educational option out there for everyone, it honestly is a bargain for the exceptional quality of what you receive. It will give your child the best, fastest, most life-changing results that are worth every penny. I met with so many families that tried other resources and spent thousands of dollars with no results, that after a manner of months, were seeing the results they had always been so desperate for.If you are a Professional Educator and want to change student’s lives one at a time, you would be lucky to join the Sylvan family. If you have a child from K-12th grade that is stuck in Resource and not making progress, falling behind in Reading/Math, or struggling to turn in assignments- CALL SYLVAN. They care & they can help.
Sylvan Learning Center in Orem has been a blessing for our family. When our daughter entered high school last fall she was struggling in her algebra 2 and physics classes and we soon realized that she needed more help than we could provide at home. The teachers at Sylvan are both knowledgeable and friendly and teach in a way that is easy for our daughter to understand. Her GPA has improved each term and she is now happy to show us her grades! In addition to homework help, our daughter has become better at organizing her time and prioritizing her assignments by applying the things that she has learned through the the Study Skills program. We no longer have to constantly remind her to do her homework. She now takes pride in her assignments and gets them completed and turned in on time.Sarah, the center director, is at the door each day greeting the students as they arrive at the center. Her warm personality is welcoming to both students and parents. Sarah takes a personal interest in each of the students and makes them feel important and valued.
Malachi has made quite and improvement in his math and reading. Christine is awesome and we really enjoy the Orem location. If we had more money hed be going much more!!
My entire experience with Sylvan & my Sylvan family has truly been life altering not only for my son but for me too! Full disclosure, I also worked for these amazing people at the Orem & American Fork location. My son was reaching the end of 4th grade and was experiencing some MAJOR behavioral issues. I knew he felt like he didnt belong in school and it broke my heart every time I would hear him call himself stupid. I will never forget the day the school called to tell me he and a friend had stolen an ipod from a teacher! What?!?! I was shocked, this is not my kid. After the shock set in, I knew I had to do something. I figured if we could get him caught up in school maybe it will boost his confidence. I called Sylvan that same afternoon. My son tested at the end of a 1st grade level for math and the end of 2nd for reading. Poor Kid! I felt like a failure. Megan, our amazing Center Director, sat across from me and gave me HOPE. The price did make me nervous, he is almost 4 years behind in math and 3 in reading. I hadnt anticipated having to pay for something like this and really didnt have anything to base it off of. We had some hours to get through and I knew we had to go for it. I wont lie, my son fought and fought about going BUT WE KEPT WITH IT! Fast forward to exactly 3 years later and he is a straight A student, he reads for fun, he LOVES math (Hes in honors math) and I cant make him miss a day of school for anything! The best part, he knows how smart he is and what he is capable of. I dont know how you can even put a price tag on something like that.My career with Sylvan was just as great of an experience. I loved being able to witness the changes these kids were making in their lives. Like any job, there are going to be challenges. Sometimes we did have unhappy families but I KNOW without a doubt that it wasnt because of the program, curriculum or the cost. There are always variables in any business you wont be able to control. Mike and Megan work endlessly to provide their employees multiple tools and trainings to help them be successful in helping their communities. They care about the families that come through their doors. I gained a ton of experience and would work with them again in a heart beat!
I heard about Sylvan on television, and was so interested to see if they could help my grandson Dallin with his reading. He had been struggling for a while, and I didn’t know what to do. Getting him to do homework, or even just reading at home had become so difficult. I looked into a few options, but after meeting Danielle at Orem, I was fully confident that this was the right place for him. She was so helpful, and genuine both with Dallin and our family. She kept me updated on his progress through his entire program, and developed a great relationship with Dallin. I am proud to say his reading skills have improved drastically! He LOVED coming to Sylvan. I have been so impressed with Sylvan all that they have to offer. I want other families to know that Sylvan works! I couldn’t be more grateful to Danielle and all the wonderful teachers at Orem.
I worked for Mike and Megan as the Center Director at the Orem location (they also own and operate the Riverton, American Fork, and Layton centers). They are kind and Sylvans curriculum is truly outstanding, but the cost outrageous. At over $50 per hour they recommend upwards of 100 hours for most of their students within a very small time period (several months, usually). While they do many things well and students made progress, it is all about sales and their bottom line. They tell you you can get a refund on your (several thousand dollar) program if you are not satisfied but they make you move mountains to get it.After spending several thousand dollars to move from St George FOR this job I was laid off. I was told it was because another one of their locations was closing down and they no longer needed me; yet they turned around and hired someone else for the position several days later. I hadnt started off well with sales and its clear that is why I was let go. I made great relationships with the families and students while I was there, some of which I have kept in contact with after leaving.
