Asked for a skin fade and didn’t realize that meant shaving the whole underside of my head to a bald, the top came out more uneven than what it was before I got there. Didn’t even use water to try and even out the strands he was cutting and since my hair is curly it came out patchy. Great guy and good hospitality but I hope they get better over there.

I think you’d get a good haircut from any of young men at Derrell’s, but Issac is my go to guy. He takes his time and really does a great job. I appreciate his little touches and attention to detail. On top of that he’s very friendly and genuine.

Im a new Utah resident and was a bit nervous to find a spot to get my haircut because I have thick and curly hair which can get kind of wild. Luckily I chose to walk into Derrells where Isaac happily took me the second I walked in, no appointment. Hes a super cool guy, friendly chat, very welcoming environment overall. I was more than pleased with my cut. He took his time, described what he was doing, and I cant wait to come back. Isaac there has helped me over the course of many many months and its just a top notch guy. He remembers about my earlier haircut and beard trims, and also about the stuff we talked about earlier. He has helped my beard get long, strong, and handsome, and when vi need a haircut but didnt have enough money after just having a baby (it turns out that having a baby is EXPENSIVE) he worked with me without a second thought. Great barber, great dude. And great environment at the shop; good folks, clean space, lots of light, which is real nice. Good experiences all around.

This place has some of the coolest people you will ever meet. I was walking to class one day (about a 40 minute trip) and some random guy drives up to me and offers me a ride. His name was Isaac Rout and he is one of the barbers at Derrells Barber Shop. First off, what a bro. It was HOT outside and I was not looking forward to the hike to BYU. We get to talking for a while and as he drops me off at school, he gives me his business card to this barber shop before taking off. My hair was getting shaggy, so I thought what the heck, Ill give it a shot. Best decision ever. Isaac is the man for haircuts. I get home from my first haircut with him, and my wife literally said it was the perfect haircut. And she is SUPER picky when it comes to this kind of stuff. So gentlemen, this is the place for you. Not only will you look good, but the cologne and stuff Isaac uses during your haircut is top notch. You will smell better than Chris Hemsworth looks (and remember, he is quite literally a God). So if you want to achieve godlike looks and manly musk, come to Derrells Barber Shop.

My good buddies recommended me to come get my haircut here from Isaac, one of the barbers. I’m always very cautious when it comes to trying new barbers. Needless to say it was probably one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. So make sure to book an appointment with Isaac. I was looking around for a closer barbershop and found Derrell’s. It turned out to be a lot cheaper than previous shops but still looked great. I had Isaac cut my hair and it was a great experience all around. He is super cool and gives great cuts. Would recommend!

I had my haircut by Jeremiah and he did a great job. When I explained what I wanted with a fade he asked me a question I had never been asked before and that I did not know there was a difference about. With that I ended up doing something a little different, but looked great.This place is a no fuss no frills kind of place. The barbers are easy to talk to and will not try to upsell you on products and services, at least in my experience. That being said it is not a place you go to for extra treatment like scalp massage, shampoo, hot towel, and the like. It is nice to just come in get a good quality cut quickly from people who know what they are doing and are friendly, and then leave.

Ive been coming here the last year. I get a medium-low skin fade everytime and Paul Makenson knocks it out of the park. By far the best skin fade I’ve gotten in Utah. I used to get skin fades in the marine corps and finding a barber to get it done without making your head look like a staircase is annoying to do. Im glad I found Paul after a few barbers butchered my hair up around here. The shop is clean and the other barbers are professional and also seem to do a good job. I’ve only ever had Paul cut my hair so i can only speak for him!

I am a sales man and I met Isaac Routt when I knocked on his door. He invited me to come get my haircut from him because I needed one before I proposed to my girlfriend. He is one of the few barbers that has not consistently made me wait when arriving on time for my appointment. I usually cut my own hair, but I decided to get my first hair cut in a store and I got it here at Derrells barber shop with Issac Routt I use different numbers and tools but when I got in and told him what I wanted he gave me the best hair cut that I ever had. This place is amazing. Ive had my hair and beard cut by four different people here, and they were all miles ahead of any other haircut Ive had in my life. Don’t let Vinny touch your beard. I came in to get my beard shaped up, and he botched it. I asked for a trim on my mustache and he shaves the top half off. Made it lopsided too. One side was horizontal, and the other vertical. Then leaves a tiny line of hair going down to my beard. My beard was long on one side and short on the other. Then he cuts my chin. He cut off all the length I’ve been trying to grow out for the past two months. I paid a lot of money to go home, shave off my mustache, and fix my now goatee. I’m never going back. I’ll handle trimming my own facial hair from now on.

I’d been going to the same barber in SLC for 5 years, until he moved back to Denver. I found Darrells, by accident, and landed in Vinny’s chair during my first visit. I’ve been more than pleased with my cut and experience every single time I go In. Vinny always takes great care of me and his cuts are second to none. My former barber is back in SLC now, but I have no plans of going back, I’m sold on Vinny from now on.

At Derrells every barber will spend the time required to give you a great looking hair cut. Its not like those chop shop chain hair cutting places where you are in and out in 15 minutes looking worse than you did when you went in. I love Darrell’s barber shop and I would normally give it 5 stars except I just got a haircut there and normally I have Marshall cut my hair. Marshall is 10 out of 10 and amazing barber so I’m always happy. Marshall wasn’t in yesterday so I had my haircut by the Hispanic barber that works there too. Note: I am also Hispanic. I gave him very clear instructions on how I wanted my hair cut. I told him what sizes to use where and how I wanted all of my hair blended together. He didn’t listen to one word. He didn’t use scissor over comb like I asked. (I don’t even think he knew what that was). My hair looks terrible. That guy literally knows one hair cut. He cuts everyone’s hair the same. I would have been better off going to great clips. Oh and on top of that he had an attitude the whole time he was cutting my hair. Worse barber ever. He gives Darrel’s barber shop a bad name!

For anyone who was confused like me when going here for the first time after only using chain haircut places, Derrells is actually a shared space between several independent barbers who are renting a chair from the owner of the shop. Accordingly, youre doing business with them, (and not necessarily with the shops owner) and your experience may vary depending on who you get if you are a walk-in or if you go with being a regular with appointments. I personally have had good experiences with Marshall and Vinny. I also recommend scheduling an appointment a few days in advance as the walk-in line is usually very busy.

Derrells Barbershop always does an awesome job! They really know what they are doing. I have never once been disappointed with Marshall or Vinnys work. For as long as I live in this area I will be a regular customer at Derrells!

Derrell’s barber shop is the #1 barbershop in Utah. They always take care of me when I go. I recently brought 6 guys in with me to get fresh cuts before my wedding and they came out looking fresh. Ask for Vinny, he has many years of experience under his belt and is versatile with the clippers. Would give more than a five star if I could.

Its so nice to get a mans haircut at a barbershop instead of going to a beauty salon. Its all about community here as haircuts are given and stories are swapped. By the way, the haircut was excellent! They arent a sweat shop that tries to get as many in the chair as fast as they can, they take whatever time is necessary to do it right. Thank you guys! I feel like I have come home to my roots as I reminisce from the good old days when that was the only place men went to get their haircut.

Derrell is the best Barber I can find for a traditional conservative mens cut. He works Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays. The other Barbers working there are good as well, but l like Derrell.
