Simply wonderful, professional, kind and accommodating people and service, from top to bottom. We were visiting the area from DC and our car developed a severe coolant leak. Out of nowhere, we limped into this extremely busy shop and they made time for us on a 100° Saturday. The boss diagnosed the problem in under a minute, and we were back on the road in under an hour for less than $50. At every stage of this experience, we were treated with kindness and respect. If we lived in this area, we would make this our regular mechanic! I can’t say enough good things about the capable, wonderful men who looked after us. Our experience here totally changed the day we were having, and I’m so grateful our problem happened where and when it did- I don’t know if any other shop would have gone over and beyond like they did. Three cheers for Ben’s Shell service!!

Pat and Ernie at Bens Service Center are awesome and went out of their way to help me in an emergency. I was about 30 minutes away from home when I realized a piece on the bottom of my car was dragging on the ground. I found this shop and asked if they could help so I could get back home. Even though it was after hours and I didnt have an appointment, they did everything they could to make sure I got home safely. I would highly recommend this business as they were very helpful and kind! Thank you!

Ive been getting my car worked on by Ernie for some time now and this place is the best! Everyone who works here is soo nice and professional, but also about their business! I bring the list from my dealership of their recommended repairs and Ernie does them all for me, explains everything to me, and all for reasonable prices. Amazing work. A part was not available on site and instead of holding the car over night. John drove over 30min to get a part to ensure I’d have my car for work early next morning. Only place I’m bringing my car for any issues. Not that it matters but I drive an Audi s3 and they knew what they were doing. Couldn’t be happier with the outcome

I have been going to the dealership for vehicle service for years. Recently I switched to Bens Shell and can honestly say Bens is highly professional and provides quality service. I can not argue with their prices and they take the time to explain what needs to be done to your vehicle and why. I take pride in my vehicle and after shopping around for years I finally found a mechanic who I can rely on and trust. I am an orange resident and I know many other residents who solely use this shop for service.

I’ve been driving for a total of 10 years now and I’ve been beat for my money, misled, and taken advantage of because I am a female. It is very hard to find someone that you genuinely trust and actually does the work that they are hired to do! Ernie really shed light on my situation. I sent my car to him through word of mouth and I prayed that he would do right by me. Not only did he go above and beyond and exceed my expectations, he kept me involved and made sure I was aware of the things that needed to be fixed in my car. He even provided photos! I had my emissions test done here about a month and a half ago and failed because we’d just had a new battery put in and the computer wouldn’t accept it. John suggested we drive it around to help reset it and come back for the free retest. Well I just got done with the retest and everything checked out! Each test took less than 10 minutes without an appointment. The employees are super nice, personable, and helpful!I highly recommend Ben’s! Ignore the single star reviews, they really are false. Thank you guys for making our transition to life in Connecticut easier! 😊

When my Interstate brand car battery died, the site listed this place as an official center, one of the few local shops among chains that I was glad to try first. Despite that, when I called to talk about getting a new battery under the warranty, they told me they called their Interstate distributor and unfortunately I had no coverage on a five year battery on year four of its life.I tried to press them on it to have them check again but they said I could call Interstate.I HAD called Interstate, and had a PDF copy of the warranty that clearly showed my battery was still covered, and had that confirmed when I called back.Firestone down the road got me set up with no fuss, and the 25% off the SRP got automatically put in by their computer.Either the people here are operating with bad information and resources, or just were looking to squeeze a little more cash from someone in a tight spot. Either way, consider somewhere that inspires confidence in their competence.

I came to CT from Jersey Shore to pick up my mother and my car started shaking when I was ready to head home. Got up today on a Sunday and started calling around- no mechanics available. A family member said he’d call Ernie. Thank goodness for him being available on a Sunday! He diagnosed my car, gave a reasonable estimate, got a piece delivered, and had my car running smoothly within a few hours! When I picked up my car he made sure to give me details on the fix, so that I’d feel comfortable with the work he did. I’m actually excited for my 3 hour ride back home! Lol Thanks, Ernie!!

Im just loving this company right now especially the mechanic Ernie. I was in the process of traveling to PA when my drivers side window stopped working with the window not being able to go back up I thought I would have to change all my plans to travel. I did go to Pep Boys to be told they can not assist me, now what do I do? As I was passing by Bens I seen they was opened so I decided to try my luck to see if they can assist me. Then I met Ernie as he stopped what he was doing to check out my car he figured out my drivers side master window switch needs to be replaced. Ok so for now until Im able to get that part which needs to be ordered my only concern was to see if we can get the window closed so i can get back to my travels. Yes he did what needed to be done and got it shut for me now me and my daughter can continue with our trip to PA. Thanks so much Ernie for helping me out at a time that i desperately needed it. As I wait for the part to come plus get to enjoy my little getaway as planned I will be giving all my business to Bens as you have gained a new very satisfied customer. I had to wait for 2 hours to get my EMISSIONS done at the last shop I went to.I went to Ben’s shop and was in and out within 4 minutes. I timed it, literally.Very respectful and professional, kind to women! I didn’t get scammed, $20 in and out, didn’t touch my belongings in my car.Ernies a great, respectable guy. I highly recommend this shop, don’t even bother with the others.The bad google reviews are spam, and fake.

It amazes me how this establishment has been in business by the SAME OWNER for 40+ years and just now people are having a “bad experience” here? I have never been to a business where EACH employee is willing to stop what their doing to help you by putting air in your tires, checking your fluid, helping you pump gas, or answer a question. I have never been taken advantage of here. Ernie even stayed late to replace my battery when he could have gone home to be with his family. This business is what the community needs. I have taken my car to Bens a couple of times and I am always blown away with the quality of service. They are fast, knowledgeable and frankly, very fairly priced.Tonight my wife and I found ourselves needing a tow because the brake system was tossing a malfunction error and saying to check the ABS. The car wouldnt even attempt to turn-over the engine with this error.The garage was technically closing up as AAA dropped us off. We filled out some quick paperwork, left the keys with Ernie and walked down the road for a disgruntled fast food dinner before grabbing an Uber home. We werent done ordering our food before Ernie called to let us know the car was ready.See, Ernie easily could have left it for the next day. He also very easily could have run some diagnostics, cleaned some sensors and performed a dozen small tasks that didnt need to be done. He also could have said he did those things and how would we know? Heck, if I am having a mechanic work on my car then I am expecting to shell out for at least an hour of his time. Their time and expertise is their livelihood after-all.Ernie charged me exactly $1 for the blown fuse. My wife and I spent more on junk food to meet the credit card minimum than we did on the repair.I like having my guys. For meat, Ferraros Market are my guys. Earnie was great! he was accurate in his estimate and had my car done quick.I needed my alternater replaced and he even filled all the fluids in my car at no charge. I can say how much i appreciate how quickly this was completed!

We got rear ended on our way to vacation. Our car sounded like a space ship after and we were far from home. We hobbled it to Ben’s and even though they were super busy on a Saturday afternoon, they fixed our car, inexpensively, and recommended a place to get our bikes (which took most of the damage) fixed. Great place, friendly people.

This place is bs and it seems like many others know it too. They may say I wasnt here but i was. They are an awful business with long wait times and over charged me for my car. My dealer costs less than this disgrace of an establishment. Ben better make this right as Im reporting him to the Better Business Bureau for charging me with these ridiculous prices!

Very nice guys I have taken my last two cars there for maintenance. They are always very helpful if I’m looking for advice about my car or if I’m having them do the work.

Ive been to Bens a few times over the years and Ive never had a satisfactory experience. Whether it be the rude customer service which seems customary around there or long waits i cant say theyre a good business and are falling behind the times with their practices. I hope this changes in the future and maybe ill get in contact with the owner and explain further what happened but as it stands this business deserves a 1 star rating.
