Such a fun place. Atmosphere was cozy and laid back. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and offered suggestions based on our tastes. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection and the drinks were superb! I ordered the Tropical Obsession Seltzer and it was so good, I ordered one to go. Will eat here again.
A good variety of beers here. I tried a few and was not in love with any of them, but they were all good. Their menu does a great job of explaining about the beers, and I do love that aspect. I also appreciate any place that makes a white stout, those are pretty rare. The service was good, and the location is cool. (I did not have any food.)
Waking in, the hostess was incredibly friendly and great music, all around. Service with Jil, was amazing. She was super friendly, warm smile and very helpful with all local beer information. I had the Grilled chicken sandwich Nebraska flavor (Cajun spice). Great flavors. Perfect crunch but very greasy—grease went through bread. Not affecting my rating at all. The survice alone will make me want to come back. When I do, I’ll get a different dish. And a win for having extremely clean bathrooms!
Had an awesome brunch at Upstream Brewing Company- Old Market ! Amazing food, location and service! I called ahead to see if we could sit outside and they thought they could do that. But once we got there they apologized and said they were limited to indoor seating today but could make sure that we werent on top of other people. The manager even came over to apologize and comped us our dessert! It was really above and beyond service! We have so happy to get out and explore the area now and are still trying to be as safe as possible! If you get a chance, check out Upstream Brewing Company - Old Market fantastic location. Fantastic food. And fantastic service!
Food was awesome.... service was really rough though. The jambalaya was killer... just the right amount of spice. Might have been the best Ive had. It just took forever for someone to come to the table after we were seated. We had to stop someone and ask and then it was at least 5 to 8 more minutes. It didnt really get better after that either. This guy was new so we gotta give him a break and Ill definitely give this another try next time in town. Its a hard time right now for businesses everywhere.
It was my first time to have lunch in the restaurant. I find the place a little dim, cause they already have a dark ceiling and the floor is also dark. I noticed a couple of chairs were wobly. I like the brewery area which is kind of cool. The person who greeted us in the entrance was very accomodating. The waiter assigned to us (Miriam) was very friendly yet professional. The food was good. The beer sampler were ok. Overall service was good.
This restaurant/brewery is absolutely awesome! They have a great, rotating selection of beer with a variety wife enough that Im sure you will find something to enjoy. I highly recommend the white nitro stout. The flavor is mesmerizing (if you like coffee). In addition to the great beer, they have a pretty big menu of food offerings including appetizers, steaks, burgers, seafood, pasta, and desserts. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and the food I had was fresh and perfectly prepared and plated. There is ample seating space both indoors and out, but they do take reservations if you want to guarantee a spot during the busy times. The building itself is beautiful and helps to create a great dining atmosphere. On your way out you can grab a crowler or growler of beer or some delicious fresh baked bread.I will definitely be coming back here next time Im in the area.
Service was very quick and the waiter was awesome. Food we had was excellent and the craft beers were tasty as well. Two thumbs-up!!
We spent a four day weekend in Omaha which was our first visit to the city. This was our last meal (brunch buffet) and unfortunately it was the least satisfying of our meals here.It was busy but not packed. After being seated, we waited for a long time but no one ever stopped to wait on us. We eventually had to ask for someone to help us. Then, my diet soda was flat. The buffet itself had a fair variety of things to choose from including omelettes to order and a carving station. What I ate was generally good with the bread pudding French toast being a highlight. But the buffet was heavily picked over and not quickly replenished (e.g., the baked goods section which was never restocked through our entire brunch). Many stations were empty. The slow service and picked over buffet were a real disappointment. The cost to value ratio was simply not there - at least not today. I am not saying we might not give it another try in the future since it may have just been an off day. But I couldn’t recommend it based on today’s experience.
The Nashville hot chicken was not spicy, barely had any sauce, and the chicken tasted like fish. This should come off the menu. My husband and I had the same thing and they were both not anything close to Nashville hot chicken.
Chip helped us put together a surprise anniversary party. He was so wonderful to work with. I would highly recommend using the party room there. We reached out to many places and Upstream was hands down the best. The minimum dollar requirement was very reasonable. There werent any weird restrictions. There is a bar and bathrooms in the basement. The food was great. Chip made sure our party happened stress free.
Excellent breakfast and service. Highest recommendation. Very reasonably priced too.
Melanie is the perfect example of excellent customer service. The beer was great, the atmosphere is great and Melanie deserves a high five! We’re visiting from Oregon but when we come back we’ll absolutely swing through here again.
I cant give a fair rating since I hadnt had a meal here, but I stopped by on a Saturday evening with a friend. I had a beer and a plate of fries and both were very nice. The atmosphere was convivial and the hospitality nice. So far, so good. Cheers.
We expected a wait, but we were told 30 min, but it ended up being an hour. We finally got to our table and waited 24 minutes for someone to even come to our table. We were ready to walk out…. However, our waitress was absolutely amazing!!! She is literally the ONLY reason that I’m giving them 4 stars. She was so kind and attentive, (once she came to our table.) The food was meh. 😑 I miss the black bean veggie burger. The two things on the menu that were amazing was the root beer and bread pudding. To.Die.For!!Thank you Valarie W. for being such a wonderful person! You made a huge impression on our entire family. YOU are the reason we will try again and come back again.
The food was great and the happy hour prices were wonderful. Id recommend the $7 happy hour pizza on Wednesdays from 3-6. Cant really go wrong with with the food, and great atmosphere both inside and out.
This is an amazing brewery in the Heart of Omahas Old Market District. I must say their wings are fire, and their beer is quite unique! If you want a twist on a classic beer, try their Afterglow White Stout. This is the most refreshing, light stout I have ever had and loved every sip!
Nice selection of beer and my blackened salmon salad tasted great. Service was slow.
Great food, beer and service! Must stop in Omaha! Thanks for a great evening!
Fish and chips are amazing. The Capital beer is a must try here.
I have always loved the food and the ambience at Upstream. Haven’t been there in awhile due to pandemic but my daughter and her boyfriend went for a celebratory dinner last night. Ian and another guy (rats, what was his name??) were SO helpful in letting me pay for her dinner over the phone as a surprise and even let me dictate a note that they gave them at their table. They just gave great customer service when it was a busy time of evening. Thank you! (But bring back the calamari!)
We were there on 6/24/2021 and the place was packed. Little did we know there were sports tournaments going on during our visit. We got a small table. I ordered the Carolina pulled pork sandwich with fried pickles. The servings were ample and tasty! We were just in town for the night. If you are in town this is the place to be.
Stop here every time Im in town. Love the beer selection, and the food is great, too. It can be a bit of a wait, especially for large parties, so I recommend making a reservation if going during peak hours. Cheers!
Great beer. Good food. Nice location. Friendly staff. Great place to stop on a trip.
I would give them less stars if it weren’t for the fact that i’ve been coming here for years and it’s usually amazing, but things were just so disappointing this time around. I understand there’s a labor shortage, but we got sat and then nobody came to our table for over 15 minutes. We were just about to leave and go somewhere else when someone finally got to us to take down our order. My partner’s pulled pork was dry and heavily sauced seemingly to cover up how dry it was, and my fish and chips were so bland. I get fish and chips every time and this is the first time that I just didn’t even want to finish my meal. We also didn’t see our waiter again until it was time to get our check and boxes. Overall just kinda sucked since I was celebrating a promotion. I have faith that this isn’t gonna be a forever kind of thing, just wish it was better.
Great food, large portions, pretty good service. However, I was surprised that they have 4 choices for tipping on the bill; No Tip, 20%, 25% and 30%! The whole tipping thing has gotten out of hand. They apparently failed math class because despite inflation and food prices going up, 15% is 15% and as prices go up the tip goes up. There is no excuse for increasing the percentage of the bill to increase the tip amount. Whats next 50% tip? 100% tip?
Visiting from out of town. Wish I would have caught our servers name, but she helped us out on the patio. She was absolutely amazing! And the beer & food were great! I had the jambalaya & a couple of different beers. All soo good!
Im impressed with how well the staff handled a very busy Mothers Day buffet. It really was quite a good turn out. The staff was wonderful and cool under pressure. This mom is grateful for your professionalism!
We found this place just wandering around. They had a great happy hour Wednesday special. Discounts on pints and thin crust pizza. Beer was good and cold. The pizza came out lightning fast. I was hungry and I finished the entire pizza myself. It was tasty and toppings were generous.
Upstream Brewing Co. is always a stop when my husband and I visit from Arizona on our way to Iowa. This past weekend we took my Mother in Law to introduce her to our favorite Omaha restaurant. We ordered the pretzel bites and they came out fairly quick. We all took a bite and they were rock hard. Not warm or soft. We told our waiter and they put in a new an order. He seemed surprised as well we were sending them back like he did not think they looked incorrect. The new batch of pretzel bites that came out were 100% different in that they looked like they had been cooked. I wish I had taken a picture to show the difference from uncooked pretzel bites to the pretzel bites we had received. Clearly a huge difference. By the time we had received the 2nd batch our food had arrived. I was surprised that we also were charged for the pretzel bites as well.
Terrible! Don’t waste your time. Rude managers, and even though they tell you it’s dog friendly, when we called ahead. It’s NOT! They say you’re allowed to have your dog on the public sidewalk…well duh. They blamed it on health code, but apparently they have different health codes than ‘The Collins’ (right across the street). Do yourself a favor, walk across to the Collins for better food, beer, 10x better service, and allowed to have your dogs on the patio!!
We enjoyed an early dinner here. We were seated at a high top table for 4. The prices are great for the portion size. Everything was delicious that we ordered. There are TVs with sports games in and a large selection of beers.
Went with a group. The Gouda cheese beer soup was fantastic. Their bread was good, but defintely add butter as it really shines when you do.I ordered their special which was a seafood pasta in a brandy cream sauce. It was a bit bland. I expected more seafood flavor, but if you dont like any fishiness this might be for you. The amount of seafood for the price of $12.99 was good. It came with a big piece of their bread as well. This meal I was limited in what I actually tasted. Everyone in my group seemed happy enough with their meals. This teeters between a 4-5 star for the food, but I gave them 5 because their service hit it out of the park. They worked as a team and were thoughtful with the food we ended up packaging up. As to the food as its only a limited amount that I tasted, Ill give them the benefit of the doubt since I have heard good things about them. The menu is quite large so thats a lot more to explore.Parking is... Old market parking.
High quality food. Great steaks. Burgers and other items are priced comparably to any other restaurant. A nice bustling atmosphere in a great part of town.
Good stop for a beer and app. The gouda soup is amazing! Artichoke dip is very good!
Service was good and the food and drinks were delicious. We were eating outside and there was a homeless person catcalling me and verbally harassing my husband. Restaurant staff didn’t do anything until we got up to leave and he jumped up to eat our scraps. The situation just wasn’t handled well.
My wife and I visited on our recent trip to Omaha. We had a great experience, although I realized later I didnt get the beer and cheese soup I ordered. I was really looking forward to it, but got distracted sampling the great variety of beers so I didnt even notice while we were there. Of the sampling I had (I bounced all over the menu between glasses and flights), I didnt find a single one that disappointed. Overall, very unique. The food was also very good and the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. We were a little bummed about the dessert brulee trio. It was caramelized on top, as it should be, but the caramelization was also chilled giving away that it was pulled straight from a cooler to the plate. All in all, a place to return on future visits.
Very nice and cozy brewery with many good self brewed beers. The beers vary from 3,8% to 6,8%. Depending on your taste you will find your beer, also with the help of samplers. I can recommend the burgers witch are really delicious. The brewery itself is big so there is plenty of room for everybody. Highly recommended!
Great recommendation from our Airbnb guy! If youre down in the old market area why not stop by and have a beer
Our server Latjior was fabulous! He kept up with our drinks and was very polite! Food was amazing! Definitely recommend Latjior and upstream for your place to go!
Great food decent prices. And since I come from a brewery in Minnesota the brewers took the time and talked with me. And that was fun
With all the good restaurants in the area, keep walking. If you want basic, get anywhere bar food, then okay. The beer is just eh as well. Too many good options close by to stop here.
Ian took my order over the phone and he was extremely polite and efficient in taking my order. This is the best customer service I’ve experience in the Omaha area. Great job Ian!!
Nice place and great beer. The location on the corner is nice for outdoor seating too. As a first time visitor however, I did have higher expectations on their food. The new york steak entree was just ok. I wouldnt order it again as it was dry for a medium doneness and the fries were a far cry from steak fry wedges or something along those lines. Overall 4 star though. Hope you enjoy!
Service was great. Food was outstanding. Don’t pass up this restaurant!
We came here often before the new management and it was great. Decided to stop by again and it wasnt as great as before. Might not come back. New menu new tastes. Not a fan anymore. They can do better to improve. They have a long ways to go. Before hand 5 star.
I drove 12 hours to get here from Cincinnati, Ohio. I have heard wonderful things about this establishment, I was extremely excited to try it out. HOWEVER, from the moment we walked through the door, I was extremely disappointed with what I saw. My friend, who accompanied me, is in a boot and we were placed at a high top table? And no, it wasn’t busy, there were plenty of other tables available. Once seated, it took our waitress 15 minutes to come to our table, again, it wasn’t busy. Our food did come out in a timely manner, however, we didn’t get any silverware and had to ask for condiments multiple times. Our waitress seemed like she had better things to do with her time than be here and making a living. We did order alcoholic beverages, and were not asked to show our ID’s, which is illegal. We will not be returning.
Beer is good. Not a huge selection but theres something for everyone. Good happy hour prices.
Had a tri rice bowl with steak tips and a bloody mary. Food was good sat outside, only missed 5 stars because service was pretty slow.
Food was ok nothing terribly memorable and I feel like menu is a bit all over the place service was great and on Monday there was 1/2 priceBottles of wine
My wife and I are new to the area and have been to Upstream twice. We come from Grand Rapids, MI where we have a brewery nearly every few hundred feet and we must say the beer here is awesome! Something for everyone! The food is amazing. We were thinking bar food or just “okay” brewery food, but it’s real real good! One of our go-to places to eat! Love the seasonal brews to go with it!Sat at the bar last night and the bartenders were awesome as well. Super friendly and educational on their brews! Highly highly recommend it!!
Had the smoked gouda beer cheese soup to start. It was delicious. Then had the pot roast for the main course. It definitely hit the spot. Washed it all down Juicy Pete IPA.
The food here was excellent! We had the pretzel encrusted cheese bites, which as wisconsinites, were truly amazing. They even had a blackberry jalapeño dipping sauce, that was really unique and added a new depth to the appetizer. I got the veggie burger, and my boyfriend got the macaroni, both were flavorful and tasty. I would also recommend the root beer. However, the only reason I give 4 stars and was tempted to give 3 was the service. Our waitress was friendly enough, but the entire staff seemed more interested in interacting with one another then with the customers. She forgot my soup and offered to do it as a to go item, which was nice, but a small discount or a free dessert might have been more applicable since we were traveling. I would definitely recommend going here, but don’t expect the service to match the cost.
This restaurant is very laid back atmosphere. Beautiful outdoor seating area on picturesque Jackson Street. I ordered the filet mignon, it was nicely seared maybe too much and cooked medium, it was juicy and tasty. My favorite part of the dish the was the potato cake. The only drawback was the service, it was pretty slow ( had to go to the bar to get my beer and asked for water a few times before it arrived ). Hopefully it was a one off for a lazy Sunday. Maybe next time I would try the Sunday brunch buffet.
I come to Omaha every year from Minot North be Dakota to see friends Upstream is an EXCELLENT place for food and drinks.
Quick to seat us even without a reservation. Fast service and great food. Friendly staff and really really good beers. Highly recommend.
Didnt get to stay long because I had to catch a flight bit people were nice and attentive. The chimichurri tuna was great as were the two IPAs I tried. Bought $75 in merchandise.
The Upstream is often over looked or never thought of when heading to the Historic Old Market but Im not sure why! This place has all the charm and elegance of any building or restaurant down there with no pretentiousness. Food is way better than expected. Please visit next time!
Great food and great beers. Definitely a good spot to go to.
Amazing steak salad, also enjoyed the salmon salad. Super accommodating staff. Cool atmosphere. Would definitely return.
We love the beers, bloody marys, salads and flatbreads. Service is always good and theres nothing like the outdoor patio on a beautiful sunny day. We visit Upstream every time we go to Omaha and always have a good time. I was a tad disappointed after a group of us waited outside for 20 minutes on a Saturday morning (thinking that they open at 11a, as it said on the door) we saw people leaving and discovered they had been open all along. Maybe someone should update the opening time on the door, and in Google maps.
We had a great experience here with friends! The food was pretty good, the service was adequate, the atmosphere is very good. I would have given it 5 stars, but little things prevented me from doing so: the menu I had looked like it had gone through the washer, my drink went dry a few times, I saw the waitress three times (order, check, and change). Usually at a restaurant with upper-middle menu pricing youd have professional servers who have an outgoing personality who provide stellar service. It wasnt bad service; it was noticeably adequate. I would go here again for the food and the atmosphere and location. I bet wed have better service next time.
A Solid Brewpub in the Heart of Omaha, Serving OK Bar Foods and Craft Beers.By no means is three stars a bad review. This place was good, but not great, so if living in or when visiting Omaha, I would come here. And if were ever back, I would come back to Upstream. We had just finished an all-day visit at the zoo, so the whole family was worn out, thirsty, and hungry. They have flights of beer and I suggest going that route, that way you can sample more of what theyve concocted. We ordered three appetizers: Fried Pickle Chips ($6), which were cornflake-crusted and served with their honey-mustard dipping sauce; Bavarian Pretzel Bites ($6.50), that came with a smoked Gouda, red lager mustard dip; and the Pretzel Encrusted Fried Cheese Curds ($8), that came with a blackberry habanero sauce. The pickle chips were great and cooked well--crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. The bites were bland and OK, they needed more salt. And the curds were good--the sauces for all three stole the show and were the saving grace for each of them.I ordered their Blackened Burger with Guacamole ($12), that came with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, and served with fries. It was a solid burger, nothing great though, and slightly overcooked (asked for it to be medium). My date ordered their Thin Crust Vegetable Pizza ($11.50), an arugula pesto, mozzarella and ricotta cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and fried onion pizza. She substituted the pesto for red sauce, but that didnt save it for her--she wasnt a fan of the pizza, saying it was pretty bland. The kids each ordered Cheeseburgers ($7) and included a choice of drink and side (one got smashed potatoes, the other steamed carrots). The kids also get a choice of dessert: a root beer float or vanilla ice cream. This is a great deal--the burgers were big, sides were generous, and the dessert at the end was perfect. A big hit for the kids.Overall, we had a good experience. Knowing now what to expect will make coming back easier and we will.
Went here as recommended by the hotel staff, and generally I like brewery restaurants, so I considered it a perfect place to try. I liked the old downtown surroundings. We were seated right away, but first the service was kind of slow and it didnt appear to be too overwhelmingly busy. Second only one hidden TV was fulfilling to the Iowa/Nebraska experience by putting on the Cubs game as the more visible ones put on the Mets/Braves game - WHAT?!? Other TVs had ESPN news loops on. I, a former vegetarian, ordered my formulaic veggie burger due to the small menu having entrees that were too big. The local beer was just standard, and nowhere near great enough to make the IA/NE beer experience memorable. I liked the grainy texture of the veggie burger patty, but that was the closest part of the dinner to make a memorable experience of an IA/NE dinner but it was nothing close at all. Well, I did like the old building ambience and it still was a decently fun travel outing.
Highly disappointed in our dinner last night so we wont be back! Started off with the Pretzel bite appetizer. These were sooo hard to eat because they were so hard and tough. Literally tasted exactly like what youd get in the freezer section at the grocery store and microwave them. We pretty much starved ourselves all day for a much needed date night and good dinner so we ate them. Husband got the bbq pork sandwich which he days was good but nothing special. I got the mac and cheese and added the blacked chicken for an extra $4. Mac and cheese was good but are you kidding me with the half the chicken breast cutlet I got? it was so thin and sliced it was 6 small pieces. How is that worth $4??? We ordered the bread pudding for dessert which was honestly the highlight of the meal.Service wasnt the best either. Our waitress was pretty slow and didnt visit the table nearly as much as we would have liked. Even the table next to us didnt get their appetizer, the fried cauliflower, until after their main meal AFTER they told the same waitress and she finally put in. Which btw dont get the fried cauliflower because they hate.Overall.... pretzels were rock hard to eat and a waste of $10, $4 Chicken breast add on was a joke, service sucked and we will not be back which is unfortunate because they have great reviews but maybe you need to be drunk before starting to eat......
Was only there for drinks, but nice locale and service
We came to Upstream this past Monday night on the recommendation from Tricia at the nearby Hyatt Place. We received a coupon for a free pint of beer with the purchase of an appetizer or entree. We arrived during Happy Hour, so we sat on the bar side of the brewery.I had the Firehouse Red Ale, which was amazing. Ive been on a kick of red ales, and this was flavorful and smooth. My wife had a Dragonslayer martini, which she said was delicious. For food, we ordered two appetizers, the hummus plate and the pretzel crusted cheese curds. Im not typically a cheese curd fan, but these were good, especially with the raspberry jalapeno jam. The hummus plate comes with three kinds of hummus, along with pita bread for dipping. Nothing out of the ordinary, but satisfying. We ordered the kids meal fish for our 1-year-old daughter. It came breaded, so we removed the breading for our daughter. She devoured the fish! Even my wife who doesnt like fish enjoyed it. The meal also had steamed veggies that we cut up and served to our daughter. All in all, our service was great, although we came in the early afternoon so I cant speak for busier times. When I walked around the neighborhood a few hours later, it seemed a lot busier.
Cool place downtown to grab some food and beers.Update 23 july 2019: stopped in for late lunch on a beautiful day. Sat out on the upstairs deck. Great day to eat out on the deck, but definitely need shade or youll burn up. They only had two umbrellas out, probably needed 4 umbrellas... 5 would be better. Some folks came up and sat out in the sun, but had to go inside because they got hot far. Food was good in general, but had some mess ups this visit. My wife and I ordered burgers cooked medium, but they came out well done. Flavor was fine, but slightly dry. Messed up my daughters order. She ordered a kids burger with only pickles. Came out as a cheeseburger, no pickles. Staff corrected it immediately, but even then when a plain burger came out, they now forgot the pickles. Staff fixed that without issue though. Speaking of staff, our waiter Todd was super friendly and responsive. Definitely a pleasant experience because of him. Overall definitely still recommend.
Great beer, great food. Happy hour 3-5
Bicyclist approved: tasty food, tasty beer, social environment. My server, Jade, helped me order pretzel bites with cheese and hummus as an appetizer, a falafel with lime chicken rice soup and a burger as a main dish, and a nice IPA to top it off. Fresh and yummy carb load dinner.Must-see in the downtown Omaha area.
Nice place to sit and relaxGreat serviceDecent food
Great atmosphere, great lunch with family, superb food!
Always a treat to eat here. Aad that I have to go all the way downtown now, so it just happens less. The drink menu is ever changing, so I really, really, really miss the pixie stick martini. That was the best martini I had ever had. Tonights substitute was the pear martini, it was delicious, but not rimmed in sugar. Hubby wasnt in the mood for alcohol so he actually tried their brewed rootbeer and said it was very good. I stare at the menu every time trying to decide what to eat today, hubby always chooses the pork schnitzel because it cant be outdone. Today I chose the mac and cheese and opted to get the blackend chicken on top. I wish I could make mac and cheese this yummy at home. Ive never had bad food, or bad service at Upstream. Will keep coming back.
The food is amazing- highly recommend the Firecracker pizza!!!
If i could give zero stars, i would. server “shelby” is so rude! Ridiculous service from her. Cannot believe you hire people that act this way at your business.
