Found this place through google. Been a long time since I went to a actual barbershop versus the chains. This place was excellent. Friendly, clean, high quality, and fair price!! Great haircut at an amazing price. Love this place. I can get in and out and be on my way in a fairly short amount of time. There are no extra frills to worry about, no can I massage this or steam towel that. Just a straightforward haircut. Added bonus, its right down the street from my office.

I left the place just over an hour ago and already have to give Mikes a strong 5 stars.As a first time guest, Megan got me in the chair, asked what I wanted, and took time to fully understand the cut before picking up any clippers. This put me at ease as her professionalism met my desires. Im very picky with my hair, and read a lot of reviews before showing up at a barber shop. Reviews said that Megan gives a great haircut, but I hope my review strengthens her repertoire in your mind.The whole time I was in the chair, I was comfortable and relaxed, as Megan didnt make me feel like she was in a rush to get the next cut done before 6, but as if she simply wanted my hair to look great. The environment was chill and welcoming, and the conversation was polite and appropriate.I got a GREAT haircut for $15 + tip, a new styling tip for my hair, and a lot of compliments already.I have been going to a shop down the road for two years but will certainly be returning to Megan.Dont give the reviews with 1-4 stars any credit, this place is great.Thank you Megan and Mikes Barber Shop!

First time customer today. I went in and told Mike what I wanted, and showed him a couple photos of examples. Ive done that at other places and just didnt get the haircut I wanted. Mike listened, looked at the photos, and then gave me exactly the haircut I was asking for.Ill tell you, having a good haircut can give a man a lot of confidence. I feel great about mine. Just went to Mikes for the first time today and I must this was one of the best experiences Ive ever had getting my hair cut. The atmosphere at Mikes is of an old school barber shop which is a nice change from the huge haircut chains that seemingly pop up all over Johnson County. The environment was laid back and I didnt have a wait time which was nice. Megan cut my hair and did a superb job based on the vague direction I gave her about how I wanted it cut. Im really picky when it comes to my hair cut but was very pleased with the quality cut I received at this shop. I Will definitely be going back to Mikes Barber Shop and requesting Megan every time.

I have tried a lot of different barbers for my son, I stopped looking the day we found Megan! She has done a fantastic job and my son finally has a style! I enjoy sitting and listening to the other gentleman in the shop, they are all very welcoming! Wonderful place.

Super nice but if you have a kid that doesnt have typical boy hair with straight simple hair, this is not the place for you. The gentleman that cut my sons hair was really sweet but it was terrible. I watched him grab handfuls of hair and just cut it off in Tufts. Actually just hacked into it. When he pulled out the Clippers, he skimmed him several times, leaving cuts, and when clearing the hair around his ears left them noticeably (seriously) uneven and high enough that they would be difficult to fix.My child is biracial and has caucasian hair as far as texture But it is very curly. The cut was pretty rough and it was evident that he wasnt sure how to handle his hair. I would have preferred to have known that upfront and would have gone somewhere else. It wasnt worth losing my head over so as soon as we left there, we went to the place he used to go when he was a little younger to have them fix it. They fixed it to the best of their ability. felt bad, because it was his birthday and all he wanted was to go get his haircut. Others have had great results buy it was not for us.

I grew up in Olathe. My dad and Mike went to high school together so Ive known him all my life.

I love how my husbands hair looks after his hair has been freshly cut. It’s a clean and friendly atmosphere.

Mikes is a great place. I went there to follow Megan when she left her previous place for greener pastures. Im glad I did, as these guys make you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door. The haircuts are spot-on, service quick, and pricing very reasonable. Stay away from the big chain places and check out Mikes.

Great place. I take all my boys there to get a hair cut regularly. Ask for magen she is amazing with the kids. My boys have very frizzy hair and she is the only one who know how to cut it to make it look nice .

I went in and the good thing about it was there was three people ahead of us and he got done quickly however when he started to work on my five-year-old son I felt like I had to coach him on how to do the back of his haircut also he considered his self done and I had to have him removed some patches of hair in the back. I also noticed that he had a maintenance man come in and he had to have the air worked on while we were there. 2 get to the maintenance man he had to hurry up and cut my sons hair so I felt like he rushed cutting his hair because he had a maintenance man that he had to take care of so overall I felt like he could have done a better job.

Ive been going to Mikes for the last 25yrs he and his staff always accommodate you whether young or older a you cant go wrong.

Great people. Found out when I went in that they only take cash. I was headed out the door and Mike told me to come in and sit down. He cut my hair knowing I didnt have money on me. Told me if I liked it to come back and pay. You just dont get that kind of service any more.

Last time I got my hair cut they where very professional and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. It really doesnt get any better than that. Great place to get a hair cut. Easy quick and fast which is even better. Also they open up earlier then most places making it easier to get a hair cut before work during the week.

I have had the same person cut my hair for 25 years. We just moved to Olathe so I stopped in to get my flat top cut. Megan did a great job and I will keep going to her. Mike was there and the place seemed very friendly.

A great, real mens barber shop! I got lucky, as this is the first place I tried when moving to kc from SoCal....and its the only place Ill go to as long as I end up living in kc. The place is just cool! Ive gone three times now, once every month. Ive always had Megan cut my hair. First two times it just worked out that way, and now I just ask for her. She does an amazing job! This is nothing against Mike. His work looks great too. If I happened to go in and Megan wasnt there Id have no problem having Mike cut it. Its just that when you stumble upon someone who gets it perfect for you each time, might as well keep using them.Parking and wait times have also been great for me. But, I usually go weekdays, late morning.**UPDATE**I just thought I should give an update, as I have been going here for over a year now. Everything about my first review stands!! Mikes Barber Shop is the only place I would go for a cut! I still always go to see Megan, and she is just an amazing barber as ever. She always gets my cut perfect, is very friendly and good to talk with. Ive had Mike cut my hair a couple of times when I missed Megan and Mike does an awesome job too. But, I just prefer Megan since she has been cutting my hair so much now she knows exactly what I want. Ill be a customer as long as I live in KS!

Backstory: i shaved my head in support for my cousin who was diagnosed with alopecia totalis when she was three. she is currently 10 and is being made fun of at school and my aunt told me. i decided to shave my entire head for her. she was thrilled.i had an event on a friday before i got my haircut done. megan did an amazing job! she gave me a fade on the sides and she trimed everything on top. everyone loved it and i love it! my father and brother now to go megan! thanks mikes barber shop!

If youre anywhere near Olathe and find yourself in need of an incredibly high-quality haircut at a very reasonable price, youve got to come see Megan; shes hands down the best around. Megan has been cutting my hair for a little over a year now, and Ive had her do all sorts of hairstyles for me, all of which have ended up perfect. From clean, short styles like caesar cuts, classic fades, and high and tights, to longer styles like quiffs, pompadours, and undercuts, she has aced absolutely everything Ive thrown at her. Megan always takes her time to ensure I end up looking exactly how I want with each visit, and to top it off, she is one of the friendliest people I have ever met. Seriously, trips to get a haircut used to be traumatic for me, but now I look forward to seeing Megan each month. It doesnt matter who you are, where you currently go for a haircut, or what style you want; Megan can do it better--shes a miracle worker, without a doubt.

Very quick and efficient which I like. They only problem I had was that I wasnt given the cut that I asked for, I was given the cut that the barber wanted to give. Im not saying it was a bad haircut as Ive recieved multiple compliments on it, its just not what I was wanting.

JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I tried to find a new barber since Ernies is just too busy on Saturdays, the only day I can come in. I truly regret going to Mikes over letting my great dane chew my hair off. I dont so much mind the lack of conversation, it was really the cutting skills I have a problem with. I made the mistake of asking: could you take a little more off the front? I dont know if that offended him in some way, because he took almost everything completely off. Of course, I didnt realize the extent of the damage until I got home and examined the lop-sided disaster that was my new hair style.Dont make my mistake. Youd be better off having a toddler with dull scissors cut your hair.
