I began my time with Western Avenue Boxing Gym as an angry teen without direction. They helped me gain discipline, strength, and the confidence to move forward in my life. Without Travis and Rebecca Hoffman, I don’t believe I’d be the man I am today.I cannot say enough about WAG.Thank you,
Western Avenue boxing is probably the best gym I could have chosen to start my career off correctly. Theyve been nothing but the best an I can promise if your putting the work in your gonna get the results you want! Rebbeca (Mrs.coach) and Travis(Mr.coach) are awesome an great coaches to start with. Theres plenty a coaches for different tiers or classes so you will definitely have a large pool of knowledge and experience to learn from. This is what I call my 2nd home an the people here are family. I cant speak enough about how brutally awesome the classes and people are.
I just stared they are super great, they pushed me and made me feel like I could acutely do something they are super supportive, I will definitely stay here as long as I can!!! They are super amazing!!
Went to my first free session. I have been an otr truck driver for 6 years on a team. Our down time was midnight to 3am most days so basically I have had 0 excessive in 6 years. Coowned a business with my wife who left me about a week ago, so Im moving here from Texas. The instructors made.me.feel comfortable and were patient. I use alot of upper body and have terrible form lol. Gotta learn to shift my focus to lower body etc. They were patient etc. Im 44 years old and 245 pounds. Cardio is terrible. But I would recommend this to anyone in similar situation. I will be going back. I was beat and it was just the intro class. Thanks so much to the 2 instructors.
The owners are incredibly helpful and the patrons are nice and encouraging. Great place to learn to box! Bullys need not apply and are not tolerated. Nothing but positive vibes and encouraging speech here. Check out their website, give them a call, or book online through the wix app.
If you are looking for a place with trendy upbeat music, monogrammed towels, and after workout organic fresh squeezed smoothies... this is not your place. But I would beg you to ask yourself if that is really what you are looking for, there are hundreds of those places, and very few places like this. It feels like a boxing gym, at least as it seems to me, should feel. Raw, old, a bit dirty, but in all the right ways. The owners and instructors are good people, they know what they are about, and are patient and helpful with newbies. They are not what you might find at the afore mentioned trendy places; harder, rougher, from the point of view of this middle class white collar man; and great people. If this intimidates you, it is possibly the best reason to go. Life is too short to fail to live a little and fear / intimidation will happily rob you of life. Now that I finished my poetic ranting...Boxing is one serious workout. I have done many things to try and get/stay fit. Wakeboarding, soccer, climbing, lifting, hit workouts, etc. Nothing has thrashed me as quickly and as throughly as boxing. Your whole body stays engaged and your core gets an intense constant workout. Orange theory hit workouts have nothing on boxing. Plus, i get bored easily, and working out just to workout gets really old. The mix of technique training, sparing, and workout keeps me engaged and having fun, even through the pain of getting myself back in shape after a year of letting it go.Its a good place, with good people, and its something you just cant find at most places... i mean, one of their training areas actually overlooks the inside of an old warehouse, it just feels right. You should try it.
Western Avenue Gym is an amazing place to get in shape, learn proper technique, and even make some friends. I have been doing the traditional boxers workout at WAG for almost a year now, and my endurance, strength, and speed have all improved dramatically. I am someone who hates to workout in a gym, so boxing is great for me because it is fun and a really great whole body workout. You cant talk about WAG without saying how awesome Travis and Beck are! They are so skilled in what they do and they are very passionate about teaching their students. They really make you feel like part of the family and encourage you to get better every day.I also love the students that WAG attracts. Everyone is supportive and non-judgmental of others in the class.WAG is just a downright great place to learn and workout. This kind of place is a rare find and a gem right here in Oklahoma City.
This is by far the best boxing gym Ive ever been to. I recently moved to another state and I miss this place. So many of these boxing gyms dont actually teach you the sport. The instructors light a fire under your butt all while teaching you the fundamentals of boxing. If I could fly 3 times a week and go here, I would. Dont fall prey to weird places that claim to do this properly. If you want to aggressively learn to fight, this is your spot! I only wish I knew where to go for the same training now.
Guys, there is no place in okc like western avenue. Home away from home. Travis and becka are fantastic and both are passionate about teaching everyone in class. From beginners on up. There are great fighters that come out of this gym.
A 14 year old boy named Ty Gray asked you a question, and you ignored him. You answered everyone but him. Why is that??? It is in the your Reviews section. I dont like children being ignored. I am sure he has good parents who will pay for his lessons. He deserves to be acknowledged like all the adults you have acknowledged.
Western Ave Boxing is an incredible place to train, learn, and practice boxing skills.Travis and Rebecca are so kind and patient with every skill level. Whether you want to train for a fight or just get in shape and lose weight, this is the place for you. They have first time beginner classes and advanced technique training, you cant go wrong!!Come join up and get fit!!!
I have a couple of questions! Im getting interested in boxing & I was wondering how old you have to be. Im a 16 year old girl & I wanted to look into learning to box and maybe when Im older going into UFC. Also, do you actually spar here & what kind of skills do you learn in your classes?
Ive read such great reviews and would love to try it. Im overweight and probably older than most. Im a recent empty nester and all I do is work and go home. I am looking for something to get me in shape that is fun. Anyone else there like me?
A little intimidating at first because its hard to find, but its worth it. Heres directions: Green building at NW 44th and Western. Go in main doors, up the stairs, and walk straight. Youll see boxing gloves hanging at the end of the hall. Step over the baby gate and through the apartment office. Keep walking through two rooms and youll find the boxing gym. Get there 10 minutes early so you can wrap your hands. Love this place. For people of all shapes and sizes.
As a 40 something, formerly not pudgy someone, I can attest to the waist trimming attributes of Western Avenue Boxing Gyms traditional boxers workout. After 2 weeks, I was finding new belt loops. After 6 months, I was buying a new wardrobe. Travis and Rebecca, Rock!
Great place to train..I signed up Saturday and have been 2 days and I loved every bit of it I immediately payed him the monthly rate because I knew this place was no joke once I got started...im gaining technique skill speed and strength all at once I LOVE THIS PLACE ILL BE THERE TOMMOROW...LETS GOOOO
Ive been looking for a good gym to get into for a while now. I love the sport of boxing w a passion and Im ready to take It to the next level and start competing.
Very welcoming and nice staff. Will definitely be back for more conditioning.
Im a 14 year old boy who is interested in boxing but Ive never boxed a day in my life do you think you could take me under your wing and teach me everything about boxing
They helped me lose 40 lbs and got me in the best shape of my life.
Great equipment and instruction.
Great place to exercise and release stress
I havent been there yet but Im looking to get in to boxing Im just wondering how much it is a month and is there an age limit because Im only 15 and how far is it from yukon
They create a family environment that makes you want to come back. And you get your stress out on the bags.
This place is NOT permanently closed . Ignore Google, they are open for business.
How much does it cost
