Truly a terrible move out and final 6 months of living. When you pay a premium you expect SOMETHING. Understandably given the pandemic a lot of amenities were not available. But even with 2 people in the office you cannot get a response to an email. I moved out and gave 2 months notice in person, by email and by phone and no one responded. I did it again 1 month before move out, i checked in 2 weeks before via email and phone and was ignored countless times and when I would run into someone in the lobby would reach a blasé attitude and be told everything was fine. I move out cant get a hold of anyone to get my keys etc. no reach out. A week after i call and say i expect my deposit or some sort of email by 21 days. Nothing. Email them after the legal limit of 21 days and they say “well, we need 10 days after move out to process paper work” and to basically hang tight. I don’t know what happened to the previous building management which was attentive and lovely but I’m calling renters rights tomorrow because this place is wild out of pocket.
I was helped by Shantel Perkins, who was very through in showing me the whole property and answering my questions transparently and in great detail. She is also a warm person to talk to and I would highly recommend reaching out to Shantel in case you are interested in checking the apartments at Telegraph Arts.
Sound proofing is really poor. I can hear every footfall in the upstairs unit, normal volume conversations from the hallway, and neighbors flushing.
NEGLIGENT MANAGEMENT. Three sample problems: (1) We had an emergency evacuation when a tenant burned some food (smoke not fire). Insufficient keys and fobs were available for the fire department, so the firefighters had trouble accessing all areas of the building; it took much longer than necessary, and thank goodness it wasnt really a fire. (2) The showers leak onto the bathroom floor in about 1/5 of the building’s apartments, which the management has known about as long as the building has been open. They keep saying were working on it, and things take time. Months and months have rolled by, and there are puddles to clean up after every shower. (3) I asked when the exterior of the windows would be washed or if I could somehow wash them myself because they are FILTHY. Their response was the need for this service is reviewed annually and budgeted as necessary. I guess Ill be living with filthy windows.
