Had a unit on the 1st floor and when you place your items in storage, it is with the expectation that they will be safe and secure. Mine went in rodent free and came out rodent infested. I had to throw away a living room set and a new queen set of mattresses because of rodent urine and feces. The rodents chewed through wire of my sofa so it was no longer operable. John, the manager was very nice and tried to help, however his manager couldnt oversee the fact that he had waived some fees when I had gotten behind and was sure to remind me that the fees were $300. However, my living room set and mattresses were worth more than $300.

They both are always willing and makes you feel welcome to deal with any questions or issue! They keep the property and inside building clean and free of bugs! IStorage is great. In my mother’s passing I couldn’t bare to go through all of her items so quickly and with iStorage I’m able to take my time with a month to month lease that way I can grieve properly. Tammy was/is a sweetheart. She walked me to see the unit before I made any commitments and afterwards she made sure I knew how to operate everything on my own for ease of use. Tammy was very welcoming. The unit is very clean with a nice controlled temp not too cold not too hot. I’m very happy with my decision.

Climate controlled, not overcrowded and feels safe to enter and exit.

IStorage is pretty easy to get to with plenty of security measures in place (iron gate, keypad entries, several cameras). Its the customer service, though, that really makes this a five star review. Tammy was very, very personable and helpful when helping me secure my storage unit, answering all the questions I had and ones I hadnt even thought of.

I visited on a weekly basis for my job and never had a negative or unpleasant experience! Love the staff here and appreciated how organized and clean the facility is! The units I used were spacious and well lit, I didn’t realize not every storage unit facility is not only kept at a bearable temperature but also lit well enough on the inside of the individual units that outside light sources aren’t a necessity. These are all important things to consider if you will frequently visit a storage space and this place goes above and beyond! So far this is my favorite unit I’ve used!

I dont think any of these storage places are good except for short term solutions. You rent the same spot month after month and then all of sudden bam they go up on the fee. They dont give you any extra but the rent keeps going up. My sister have had a unit for 3 years and they have gone up twice.

Buyer Beware!I have had a unit with this company for a number of years, was unfortunately grandfathered in due to the previous companies bankruptcy. As I travel extensively both local and international I needed a storage unit. In the last year my rate has gone from $122 per month to $174.00 with little to no warning. I am not even on the ground floor. When I called an inquired as to why, I was told that the manager had done comparisons in the area and that was my new rate. They then added on another $9.00 a month for insurance and I was told I would need to bring in my home owners policy and they would remove it. I am still waiting on someone to tell me how much is the coverage and what is my deductible. They are very quick to blow up your phone for payment and love to add late fees, even when their site is down and you are unable to pay. If you call them to make payment over the phone there is an extra charge.I have written a letter to all the Base Commanders in Hampton Roads hoping one of them will blacklist this company, whom seem to like taking advantage of our Military and their constant deployments. We also plan to send a letter to our local Congress Representative and hopefully we can get a bill passed that will limited what these companies can and cannot due in the State of Virginia. My advice stay away, even with two months free rent.

Immaculate service! Best customer service Ive ever experienced by far. The staff at the Norfolk, Virginia location (Christopher&Angela) are very nice and hard working to make the customers happy. The prices are very great for the space they are giving and they have a very tidy and clean facility. Very professional staff, affordable units, and immaculate facility. They provide carts to make the moving process more convenient and the grounds are maintained. U-haul trucks are available for rent as well.

Called for a unit, asked if they wld be open and was told yes. Paid for everything so I could just grab key. Showed up and it was closed and had been even when I paid. Called and was hung up on. Waited til next morning and called, still no call back or refund. Terrible service, lawyer will have to handle this one

Climate controlled units are the cheapest in VA beach and Norfolk...paperwork was minimal and rental of unit was quick and painless...love the fact $25 gets you 24/7 access...would definitely recommend to anyone who asked

Even though they claim to have great customer service and be military friendly, I had a different experience. I am stationed overseas and needed to store some of my belongings locally in a storage unit. I researched the different options locally and found this unit to be very competitive in both location and price. I visited the unit in person and reserved it with a down payment. I confirmed my move-in date (Saturday) three times over the phone with the managers and was told I could move in anytime. During these confirmations, I found they actually lost my reservation twice. I arrived with everything loaded in a truck on Saturday at 5 pm, but they were closed. They apparently close at 4 pm on a Saturday and are not open at all on Sunday, which I find odd since weekends are prime move-in times for most people. The managers never told me this when I confirmed my move-in date over the phone multiple times, again they actually said I could move in anytime. When I arrived and saw they were closed, I called the weekend call center and they would not help me. I was told employees also need their days off so I cant have anyone come to open the unit for you. She was unwilling to call a local manager to open the unit. I explained that I was in the military and actually came back from my overseas location this weekend to specifically help arrange my move, so I dont have the option of coming back on Monday. Everything had been arranged to move in that weekend, including a truck rental, hiring moving help, and taking military leave. The call center still did not help me, in fact they encouraged me to take my belongings to another storage unit if needed. I was absolutely furious and had to scramble to find another storage unit at the last minute. I was then told my reservation deposit is non-refundable as that is company policy. How is that for good customer service?!?Other noteworthy things I noticed about this company: they have changed managers since I started dealing with them, they cannot offer a free truck rental with moving in anymore because they lost their insurance (a manager told me this), and their gate sign still says they are open on Sunday despite their actual hours. I was going to rent a unit for 3 years while overseas, and my parents were also going to likely rent one. Thats two long term units they lost for which they dont seem to care.All this points to a poorly managed or failing business with customers not the top priority. I would be very wary before committing to this company. Who knows what would have happened to my belongings if I ended up moving in with them.

Absolute horrible place to conduct business at.. the front desk lady & supposedly manager are beyond rude. As someone that is in the customer service industry I would never speak to anyone in the manner that they did and especially hang up on a customer. I did a lot of shopping around for a storage unit for a deployment and found this place to be MORE than competitive cost wise. It pretty much blew the competition out of the water actually. The real plus for me though was when my deployment was cancelled on very short notice the property manager (Keith I think was his name), bent over backwards to help me out by communicating with his corporate office and explaining the circumstances, which led to a full refund of my money, even though I had signed a contract. If this place were to jack up their prices and become more expensive than the competition, i would probably STILL go back there just because the customer service was so good and they helped me out when I needed it.

Been using these guys for a few months now without any issues. My payments come out automatically on time and the units are clean and free from pests.One thing Ive noticed is if youre using Google Maps to GPS your way to this place is that youll want to put in the actual address of the place (951 Ernies Way) and not use the button for directions from your browser that will make it appear as something like iStorage Norfolk. Using the latter will take you a back road way that wont actually get you you to where you want to go in my experience.

It looks like my daughter got to review iStorage before I did. We rented a storage unit here. Upon entering, we were greeted by Ronnetta. She was so friendly, it was like chatting with an old friend. Everything was explained so clearly that we didnt have many questions to ask. Initially, we requested a 10 x 20 space; however, she encouraged us to look at that size prior to committing. Thankfully, we agreed. It was much larger than we needed.We needed a truck to move and Ronnetta arranged the rental which made our move that much easier.The facility is located behind car dealerships right off of the boulevard. I have been down this way many times and never noticed, so if youre looking for it, pay close attention. The grounds and building are well-kept. Im not sure if all of the units are climate controlled, but our building stays at a comfortable temperature. The elevators are a little smaller than many other storage facilities, but they serve the purpose. The doors are not automatic so you do have to utilize the kickdown door holder. The few times I have been, there are only 3 carts that sit in the hall on the lower floor. They are a bit small, but they do the job. It wouldnt hurt to buy some sturdier replacements or additions.All in all, the customer service is stellar and the facility is clean and secure, so it deserves five stars!Thank you, Ronnetta, for EVERYTHING!
