My headlight went out, went to dealer and was told 2 to 3 weeks for appointment. Went to second shop and was quoted over $1000 and no discussion with actual mechanic. Finally went to steens and Kayla was such a breath of fresh air! Polite, cheerful, helpful... I did the drop in thing and Don came out and looked at what I needed, ordered a bulb that was delivered in about 10 minutes, let me know that I did need the expensive headlight assembly but they would check around for alternatives. Brought car in for a radiator flush, new windshield wipers and they looked at the headlight wiring and my stow n go seat that he said he couldnt fix... I walked out under $100.Said I could bring in a headlight assembly and they will put it in for me (will save me quite a bit of money)! The customer service is outstanding! I have found my new go- to auto service. Thanks Steens!!!

I had broken down just out of Newport, after a absolutely ridiculous tow bill, the service woman and owner greeted me with a smile, very professional and friendly, after seeing what I was charged for a tow the owner and company as a whole went out of their way to get me back on the road and made it a very pleasant experience. If in Lincoln county, this place is very recommended. Can’t tell you how much the normal, friendly nature by all actually made a terrible situation not as bad. Thank you!! We stopped by this morning in our converted Ambulance while on vacation and just driving thru the area. Our rig was running a bit funny and they fixed us right up with no wait. They were the nicest folks and really helped us out. We could have been stranded without them. We highly recommend this place and are so thankful for the service we received.

I personally would recommendation have your vehicle repair at Steens Masterlube in Newport, Oregon! Hard to trust the mechanic and shop out there but Steens have been good service to my SUV... I informed them that I was terminaly Ill. And was living quality of life not quantity. And had driven her during covid-19 to see 🙈 a wonderful friend for Thanksgiving. They were so impressed 😃. Awesome place to go to get your car fixed. The mechanic that fixed my car, Justin, did an awesome job. He is very knowledgeable, fast and gets the job done right the first time than other mechanics. The staff there was super awesome and has great customer service. I highly recommend everyone go here to get your car fixed because this is the only place I will get my car fixed from now on. Our van decided to stop working far away from home and after a long affair of getting a non starting vehicle to a shop in an unfamiliar place, we couldn’t be happier ending up at Steens.Though they were about to close, they made the time to look at our van and order parts before leaving for the night. This place was great! They helped look at my car, test drove it, and fixed the temperature gauge because it was stuck on the H. And, they added coolant fluid to my car for no charge! So I just want to say thank you so much for taking care of me and my car, it meant a lot!!

Quick and efficient! Everyone on staff are friendly, knowledgeable and personable! Prices are reasonable and everyone there are usually upbeat no matter the obstacles they may come across when working on vehicles.

They miss things...I had a problem with my heater for the last 6 months where it would only blow cold air and sometimes not work at all. This is a common car problem. Three times I brought my car in to get this problem fixed and get an oil change. I was told that it was not fixable because they couldnt order the part, and it was bad wiring. So I spent the ENTIRE winter driving in a freezing cold car. I finally did a google search and it turns out the problem is caused by simply being low on coolant. Today after coming back from an oil change and still having a broken heater (after they said theyve fixed it) I checked the coolant and it was low. I added coolant and problem solved, my heater is working perfectly now! I dont think this garage has much attention to detail, this was a simple fix to a common car problem, and would have taken 2 seconds to repair. Im not impressed that they clearly didnt investigate this issue and just made up some BS reason for why they couldnt fix it. I will be taking my car to someone else from now on.

My Range Rover Evoque had completely shut down on a recent trip to the Oregon Coast. Got the vehicle towed to Steen’s. Justin went out of his way to figure out the issue including speaking with Range Rover engineers in Portland and reset the car. That got us back on the road. Loved the customer service and the experience. Highly recommended.

Worst customer service Ive ever experienced, they pushed back the repair on our car 4 TIMES then said they would have another mechanic in town do it for the same price (they said they lacked the right parts). When the other mechanic said it would be more expensive we went back to Steens thinking they would cover the extra and the guy BLEW UP. Ive never heard such language used toward a paying customer. STAY AWAY!

Love these guys! Hit a tire remnant in the road and asked them is they could repair the undercarriage shield (or sell me some duct tape). They were great. Put it up on the rack right away and repaired it perfectly. Mike was thorough and a great guy. Thank you Steens.

On my trip from Flagstaff Arizona to Newport OR, my check engine light went on at the California/Oregon border. I fretted for the next two hours, and then was referred to Steens from the OReilly store. They were amazing! Checked out my car, found it was a minor situation and sent me on my merry way in about a half hour or so. And they didnt charge me! I am so elated and thankful for their kindness and generousity! Thanks!

We needed an oil change during a road trip. I called Steens and asked if we needed an appointment. I was told that we did not, and now was a good time to come in because they were not very busy. When we arrived about 10 minutes later we were told they were on their lunch hour so we had to wait. That would have been fine had we not been told moments earlier to come on in.

Outstanding customer service and very reasonably priced. Had a number of repairs done on my old VW, where they were very sympathetic to my needs and their turn around was quite fast. Justin, the mechanic that took care of a bad oil leak for me, saw the problem immediately and placed the car up on the lift to confirm without me waiting or having to come back. After a few minutes he knew exactly what the problem was and had the part ordered and the car repaired the very next day. I really thought the car was a goner! I guess some heroes dont wear capes. : )

We were traveling through Newport, and our check engine light came on. We called, and Russell got us in immediately. He quickly diagnosed the problem, which turned out to be a small problem that didnt need any work. He explained it, and gave use some great advice on finishing our trip with a safe vehicle. Where do I begin?! This place is without a doubt the best auto repair shop Ive been to in my entire life! They do just about everything here. Gina runs the place and is wonderful to deal with. Ive bought a 1997 Acura and took it to Steens for inspection. The previous owner sold it because of an engine light. Gina was able to quickly diagnose the problem and fix it (02 sensors and catalytic converter). She didn’t mark up the parts and charged a reasonable labor fee. Sitting in the waiting room that day (she also did a brake and transmission service for me), I saw her treat her customers with compassion, actually being an advocate for them. Steens will be getting ALL my automobile service in the future. 5 stars and HIGHLY recommended!!!

Thanks to Steens Master Lube for alleviating this mothers fear! My 20 yr old daughter was driving from Portland to Newport in her 2001 Outback for her job with OMSI at Camp Gray. One mile out of Eddyville, her care seems to overheat and is pegged at H. Cell reception is sketchy and she manages to text me what is going on. I knew we had AAA and could get her car towed, but to where? Fortunately, I work with her older brother at a body shop and he hops online and searches for a mechanic shop nearby. He finds Steens and calls them. Kayla answered the phone and the questions he had. She said they were busy but would be sure to take care of her once she and the car were towed to them and get her back on the road as soon as possible. My daughter didnt have to wait long once she arrived. The team at Steens looked at her car and quickly determined it was most likely a stuck gauge. They topped off her coolant and sent her on her way at no charge. My daughter said they could not have been more kind and helpful. I called and thanked Kayla and she understood my worries, being a mother herself. A big THANK YOU to Kayla and Steens crew for making this mom relieved.

Came into Newport with a noise rental car; we were advised by the rental company to continue driving because they had no facilities in Newport to help us. So we stopped at Steens. Knowing we werent about to pay any money to have a rental car fixed, they stayed late for us to hoist the car and determine if it was safe to continue driving. Very helpful and very friendly.

I was towed in from 25 miles out and knew nothing about where I was being taken. After all was said and done, I am very happy I was brought here! My car needed a repair that many places would have just done the most expensive job, assuming that it all needed to be done. Luckily, Russell said he would attempt to fix the problem in the least expensive way first, as I expressed how broke I was! They needed a part that had to be ordered, and since I was from out of town, my son and I needed a room. Russell and his wife were kind enough to give us a ride to a couple of Motels, they even waited to make sure there was vacancy. My car was fixed with the minimal cost option. I had them service my wifes Rav 4, one thing was to change the oil in the differential, took it home and it was leaking pretty badly, never leaked before, took it back they put a new drain plug in, still leaked, took it back and they said it wasnt leaking, took it home still leaking. I think they probably stripped the threads on the drain plug. Wont know for sure until I have someone else look at it. Took my truck in, they replaced my front brakes, did fine, reasonable price, brakes went bad shortly thereafter, took it in and they said I needed entire new rear brakes, pads and rotors, only problem was I had them completely done about 200 miles ago. So either they dont know what they are doing or they were trying to rip me off. I took it to the place that did my rear brakes and it turned out to be a rusty brake line leaking which they fixed. Immediately after that my front brake job went bad so it was back to Steens where they had to replace the calipers on my front brakes which they hadnt done the first time, They fixed that, to their credit, with new pads and rotor under warranty. When I picked up my truck I thought I would casually mention some of the difficulties Ive had with their work, thinking they might like the input for future reference. I mentioned that my wifes differential still leaked. I said that I was done with them, not even trying to be mean about it, I just figured it was time to cut my losses. Then the owner just absolutely blew up and got right in my face telling me he was sick and tired of me coming in and whining, whining, whining. Im 63 years old and this was literally the worst experience with a mechanic Ive ever had, and at my age Ive had some bad ones. Ordinarily they will just try and rip you off. Whether intentionally or just from incompetence, Steens not only tried to rip me off on the brake job but actually got back in my face and told me never to come back, the owner was being a total #sshole for absolutely no fault of my own. Must have been having a really bad day. Not a good idea to take it out on your customers. Of course I already new that they would never see me again anyway so I was fine with that. I think the owner might need some anger management. If I could I would give them -5 stars.

Great service on all fronts! We were visiting Newport for the weekend when the starter on our vehicle, that we had just replaced a week prior, went out again. With no mechanics or car rentals open on weekends, we were at the mercy of whomever could (hopefully) squeeze us in to their schedule Monday when all of the shops were back open. Steen Master Lube took our call Monday morning (before they were even officially open!) and without hesitation told us to absolutely come on in! Steen not only worked us into their schedule, but they were also gracious enough to work on our vehicle as soon as the part arrived, in order to get us back on the road to home as smoothly and as soon as possible, and also took care of all of the warranty legwork so we were able to walk out of the shop with our warranty paperwork complete and our car repaired. Steen Master Lubes friendly service and extra effort for the customer saved what could have been a really bad end to our visit. We thank you so much for your above and beyond help when we were in a tight jam. If I ever move to the area, I have my mechanic already picked out! Thanks again!

Worst experience with car repair Ive ever had. Brought the car into Steens on March 13 and on May 22 they still had not completed the work they were supposed to do. Also, the work they did was extremely questionable. Their receipt showed $415 under the title GOLDS yet when I spoke with Gold Motors to find out what the heck was going on, they told me they had never seen the car or sold parts for the car, or even spoken to Steens about the car. They also took out a brand new $250 GM part EGR valve that was installed by Car Care 50 miles prior, and put in a used one. No written estimate, no detailed invoice. I had to keep at them; Gina called me only a few times during this 11 week horror. During that time my car was not running and they had all the keys including the master key that they requested because the ignition lock quit working while there. Ive had questionable repairs done before, but at 66 this is by far the most extreme and a clear cut case of dishonesty! Gina apologized for the dishonesty on the receipt, her father called it a communication problem - really?! I have never taken anyone to court over anything but this is so extreme that I am going to pursue legal action and report them as well.

Got stuck in Newport with a dead battery. Went to a couple different shops (leaving the car running) and was told it would be 3 days to get the correct battery in from Portland, or it could be over-nighted for an extra fee. Frustrated, I started calling the auto parts stores and low a behold found the right battery on the shelf at NAPA for a good price. Contemplating the best way to get this new battery in: tools needed, the car security system going haywire, etc. I ended up at Steens Master Lube. Russ, the owner, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about my specific cars needs. He had me in and out of there in 20 minutes and wouldnt take a cent from me no matter how much I insisted. If you are looking for a good car mechanic that is fair and reasonable, Id highly recommend Steens Master Lube in Newport.

This place is crap from what I have heard and what I have experienced. Took my car there because they do free inspections by plugging a computer into it. I brought my car to them on a Thursday and they said that they couldnt look at it till the next day but that they would get to it first thing. Called around 5 PM the next day and they said they couldnt get to it but that they would get to it Monday before they closed. No call Monday. Then I called around 2 PM Tuesday 6 - 7 times and no one picked up. I decided to go in and three mechanics are sitting around and and I ask if they had looked at the car. They said no and I told them to give me my keys and that I was leaving. They told me to wait a bit, then FINALLY looked at my car. Took them two minutes to tell me my catalytic converter was out. Replaced it and guess what? STILL DOESNT WORK! Steens Master lube is a waist of time and a waist of money! Dont trust anything they say or do!

Purchased a used car from a fellow in Waldport 10 months ago. The car was reported to have had all the service and repairs done at this garage. The car was a bit rough and at the appropriate price or so I thought. After spending some time with the car I have found out that the motor needs to be replace due to improper timing belt change. None of the repairs or maintenance had been done correctly. Many sensors out of calibration and a history of temporary fixes was evident. The exhaust repair was so bad it also needed to be replaced from the CAT back.Unless you are stranded and have no choice...Avoid this shop if you can.

My boyfriend and I were on a road trip from Boise Idaho, unfortunately our car broke down on our first stop in Newport. I called several places in Newport explaining our situation and every shop had a week wait for even a diagnostic, finally we called Steens. They said they could get us in right away for a diagnostic. We towed the car to Steens where they quickly ran a diagnostic and discovered it was the alternator. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful, she called every place in town looking for the required part. They even offered to drive to the next town over which was a 45min drive one way free of charge to pick up the part if they had it, unfortunately they did not. While she was calling searching for the part we had the chance to talk to the manager. He was extremely personable and made us feel comfortable and right at home.Later that day they had the part brought in from Salem and put a rush on the labor; again completely understanding our predicament and sympothising with it which is rare these days. Our car was done and running perfectly by 5pm that same day! The lady at the front desk gave us a great deal and we were on our way to the next stop on our road trip only a few hrs behind schedule.A big thank you to everyone at Steens for saving our Oregon coast road trip!

Horrible, both times i was told to bring my car in at 1pm, and then told to qait because there is no schedule for oil changes. Both times were a wasted lunch break and a headache from a smartass unprofessional secretary who couldnt keep her attitude in check, or her lies in order. Horrible service.
