I had never been to this salon and decided to book and appointment based on its reputation.Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. I tried to give the nail tech the benefit of the doubt because she seemed tired but I really don’t think there is an excuse for what I experienced. When I got to the salon, I had a gel pedicure on and in the process of taking off my gel polish, the nail tech filed my nail down WAY too thin on two of my toes. At the time, they hurt very badly, so I just had her do a basic pedi. Now that the nail polish has started to chip, I can see that there is blood underneath my nail. It is still very sore and hurts a bit.I am not saying this is a bad salon in general, but if you have specific things that need attention, maybe don’t go here. I really hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Never seen such an extensive nail polish collection to choose from, including many high end brands like Chanel & Marc Jacobs, along with the usual OPI & Essie etc. My rose petal pedicure was lovely and long-lasting. The narrow, homy Zen ambiance promoted relaxation, a pleasant departure from the commonplace sterile, whitewashed modern salon. (You can easily pass by without recognizing its a nail salon at all!) The staff was friendly, respectful and welcoming, without trying to chaffer chitchat for tips.

Terrible experience. I am used to the Tribeca location, but thought I would try this UES location. It almost seems like a cheap knockoff version. Everything was a bit old and dingy, which is understandable, things were taped up, it wasn’t the posh experience I was used to. They also didn’t let me choose my oil, she dropped in grapefruit, and when I said “oh! I’ve never tried this, I usually get rose” she said “yes we have rose but everyone always chooses grapefruit so I just put it in. ??? Sorry what? Pretty much all of my nails are chipped, which is exactly why I avoid cheap nail places in favour of Jin Soon. Let me clarify, my polish isn’t just chipped, my actual nails are chipped and shredded. To add insult to injury, when I didn’t have cash to tip, and instead chose card, she stood over me, asking me ‘are you sure’ and telling me that it’s better because you don’t pay taxes. I don’t understand how her telling me that she wanted to commit tax fraud was going to magically make cash appear, but it made we want to get the hell out of there. It made me feel like the place was quite trashy if they were going to huff and puff about paying my tip on my card.I will not return.

Sadly, will not come here again. Came here for a pedicure - wanted something a little special. Between being rushed around in the waiting room, having rude staff greet me and shove me in and around the studio, and being harshly treated during the pedicure itself - not worth the money. My local pedicure establishment will be more of a relaxing and certainly less expensive experience. Dont waste your money folks.

They didnt do nail art. I told them what i wanted and even browsed through the books and the nail tech did what she wanted to do instead of doing what I asked her to do. It was so disappointing.

Good job but we were not welcomed as I would have expected: we were 3 and could not stay together to get our manicures and pedicures as I had asked on the phone. The ladies didnt ask us which treatment we wanted and werent very friendly.

This is the feedback from my wife who went there for a mani/pedi which was a stocking-stuffer from me this past Xmas. The experience was not good at all unfortunately. Her nail tech didnt know how to do anything other than paint one solid color. After the first 3 colors she asked for were not options (and nothing exotic either, i.e. Green), she had to settle on a color which was ok (her 4th option). The nail tech did only 2 coats on her toes, when it should have been at least 3 coats of paint with the color of shade they were using. They told her she could leave and that her nails were dry, as soon as she walked out the door, she smudged her thumb on her jacket, ruining the nail plus getting the polish on her coat. Her mani was actually decent, until it smudged. Needless to say, the gift I got her ended up ruining her evening...saying she was disappointed would be an understatement...I basically paid $90 for my wife to come home pissed-off and upset...Shes now 0 for 3 in finding a good nail salon on the UES, but at least she can check Jin Soon off her list.

After reading a very positive article in the timeout ny, I decided to try the nail art design manicure and visited this ues salon today with a girl friend. Even if we are both quite happy at the end about our manicure, we wont go back, because our experience today was not corresponding at all to their advertisement on the website. We made a resevation two weeks ago for basic manicure of 30 minutes for $18. We arrived on time and asked for the design catalogue to choose from and we were told that we booked only for 30 mins and they cannot do any design because it takes at least one hour to do a pattern or design. There is no word about this condition on the website. After some negotiation, they agreed to do some simple two color shade design, that we chose from photo samples but then it was $30 per person. On the website, the price for a nail art is $15-25.Including the tip we have paid $70 for two, which is a lot more than what we expected. We feel like overcharged. They should update the price information on their website so that there is no surprise. The whole experience also could have been better if the staffs explained us better what we could expect and what choices were there for us.The lady who did the manicure to my friend seemed to be upset and arguing with her collegue about something. She was frowning and spoke anything at all to my friend during the whole time. We felt the tension between the two staffs and could not relax.Again, we are happy about our new manicure and they have excellent spectrum of colors and brand polishes but it is not worth paying so much additional, unexpected charges.
