You will have the best on boarding experience EVER. It will seem as if you are in the right place and in the right hands and you will have special treatment, and very involved caring people. Then you will be ghosted... slowly. Your experience vs. what they sold; will be a rude awakening! If there are any bumps in the road like you are a busy person and need to switch an apt it could be a month out before you are able to get a new appointment. You have to keep your appointment or you WILL NOT get help. If it is an emergency and you need help you are left feeling in despair. The assistants there are aloof, untrained, and rude. They respond mechanically and do not pass messages along. They are so untrained that they dont even know how to work their telephone system: on two occasions i was put on hold, and i could listen for minutes to another patients discussion with their doctor at Amen Clinics. I even told the contact person that i could listen to another patient, and they didnt know what to say. You dont get a response if you contact the doctors directly even if you have their direct emails it is their protocol that an assistant (aka point person which is just basically an untrained intern with no care in the world for you) gets back to you. One doctor specifically said Im so sorry you are having this experience please email directly if this ever happens again. Then when I needed her help she complained to the acting clinic managing saying she doesnt know how to handle my email because she cant be responding to patients in the middle of her day. They are so busy there they forget what they tell you. The staff is terrible and ultimately the protocol they follow is a disaster. Dont waste your money!!! But like everyone else says..... SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Its a real shame.
Not worth the money and is very costly. You can get all the same information from a $25 book and save $3500. I was initially very hopeful after being sold on their service, but was met with many disappointments. It was a very tough experience to go through when you are already challenged with mental health issues. It seems like all they are interested in is getting you do a SPECT scan for research. What doctor recommends a test without first having a consult with a patient to deem if it is necessary? I learned nothing from my scan that I did not already know. I felt my treatment recommendations were generic - diet, exercise and basic supplements or it is referral to more doctors. Follow up was very poor by the clinic. If you have any technical difficulties, you will miss your appointment as there is no way for you return a call to your doctor at your appointment time. All communication is filtered through an assistant that doesnt return phone calls. It is very interesting how they will send you numerous reminders for your scan appointment, but the reminders stop for follow ups. A much better protocol would be to have a consult with the doctor first to determine if a scan is even worth while. I feel in my case all the information could have been obtained via a thorough history as it seems my treatment recommendations were based on that anyway.
2ND VISIT TO AMEN CLINICSI came in. I was seen immediately. As usual, the receptionist Ariel was smiling. She had just changed her style. It took me a minute to wake up to that fact. Sue the Nurse Practitioner invited me into the testing room, where again the injection of the contrast dye was painless. She then led me carefully into the room where the actual SPECT test was carried out. I lay down as before and when I asked, I was told that this scan was only 13 minutes, which was great. I only had to stay still for that long. Towards the end, when in my head I had calculated that I probably had about 5 minutes left to the scan, Sue called out to me “Two more minutes.”When the scan was over and the lights were put on again, Sue helped me into a sitting position and helped me to orient myself once again. Somehow, I don’t know, that just warmed my heart.I returned to the waiting room and became fascinated by a pretty chart showing 50 ways to make your brain healthy. A lot of them I knew already and was already doing. Others surprised me, like avoiding corn. I haven’t had a chance yet to look at the website, but this information may be there.Next, I was led into another room by another health care practitioner I’d not met before. I was alone in the room and before me was a giant (say about 24”) computer screen. I’d been told that part of the information-gathering process was to take this computerized psychological test. It was fun for me and not at all uncomfortable for me as I am used to being asked what might be considered personal questions. Again the goal seemed to be to gather information for my use and benefit to know what are my strong points and what are my weaknesses, in order to help my overall development and healing.I was rather surprised about which parts of the testing I found hard and the summary of results reflected this area as a deficit I had never even been aware of. But also, in the summary, I saw strengths that I had not been in touch with, either. It was a rounded report, and presented in such a way as to make me feel hopeful that positive change is possible. As an objective source, It confirmed for me that while I am currently troubled by my weaknesses, that I have strengths, too. I am useful. I am not, in fact, a piece of blankety blank at the center of the Universe. But, that with help, if I would accept it, I can become a useful member of society once again and this time enjoy doing it, i.e., offering my gifts to the world. The day was concluded at the end of the psych test. The test alluded to the possibility of computerized training to improve those deficits. So I am excited!
I am so very sad to say that this office is terrible at communicating! I agree with the last reviewer that said once you pay the money, good luck getting the office to communicate. The patient care coordinator stood us up on two occasions. Apparently she was sick, but this was not communicated to us. I had to call multiple times to find this out. Additionally, we met virtually with the doctor once, and he was wonderful. However, we never heard from him for our second scheduled appointment, and after I sent multiple emails and made a phone call (which the office never returned), I finally got a response that said WE were a no-show for the appointment. This whole process has been extremely discouraging. Great doctor but terrible service from the clinic. And since you cannot contact the doctor directly, having to go through a clinic that communicates almost as poorly as a rock makes getting help from him/her feel almost impossible. This clinic COULD be great, but they are in serious need of organizational help and probably some additional employees as well.
This place adds to the frustration of trying to get the help you need....This was my last resort. I wasnt getting the help I needed from the VA, so I decided to take a gamble. Dr. Lowe is amazing, but once you pay the initial money, good luck getting any communication from the office assistants. My pharmacy tried to get through to the office every day for almost 3 weeks (in order to verify some information to refill a prescription).... Ive been following up for two weeks... still not one word from the office
Wow thanks for the warnings, seems so good on TV hahaha doesnt everything! Dr Amen may be great but if any of the staff etc isn’t trained well and disrespectful it will not last, they will just take the money and drop the ball.
I started end of October 2020. I did the online test and filled out the questionnaire. Dr Sophia reviewed my information. I had a virtual apt with Dr Grim. He said his apts were 500.00 i told I could pay that for 2 visits a week.. Those apts were in November. Dr. Grim said his assistant would make the follow-up apt with Dr. Grim. I sent several emails asking if they rescheduled and right before Thanksgiving Dr. Sophia called said I dont need to send emails Dr. Grim would be in touch with me. Well its now March 2021. Never heard back. Guess I wasnt a cash cow. I wonder what Dr. Amen would have to say about this.
I am a Japanese. It is 20 years ago that I came across Amen method for the first time.It was Change your brain Change your life of the Japanese edition.I was not able to express the shock that I received by words then.Thereafter all the books of Amen are reading. And I had a chance to take the SPECT image of the brain in Aman clinic of New York this time.I had a long-time dream realized and was excited very much. However, the dream ended with a really disappointing result.Doctor Sandlin Lowe ...He may surely have the knowledge. However, I felt that he was the self-righteous doctor who did not hear the story of the patient at all.In addition, The clinic surely practices Amen method,However, It is very manual.I did not feel Amens spirits there.Or I might overrate amen clinic.I am a Japanese therapist.I was thinking in future even if I wanted to introduce cliant. However, I cannot introduce them to this clinic. As Other people commented, I think that only a book of Amen is enough.
Im so grateful to have had the experience to come to the Amen Clinic for SPECT scans and an evaluation. My scans were full of information which has improved my life with added supplements, diet, behavior modifications, exercise, quality sleep and I continue to see my doctor at the clinic monthly for now.I lost 8lbs,my energy is good,Im happier and Im going to continue do what Im doing.
They do “favors” for the wrong people including unbelievably cruel federal judges and extremely abusive police officers not to mention “parents”. Abuse and erase. Sad.
Oh boy, Thank you reviewers. You just save me $$$ and aggravation. I was planning on going to the Amen Clinic. Now after reading these horrific reviews Ill look elsewhere.
Waiting for the evaluation with the doctor is taking too long, on a waiting list unfortunately ☹️
Worst choice I have ever made. It is really not what they seem to be. First of all, none of the insurances will accept your claim since the CPT codes of the scans are experimental. Also, after you pay for the scans, the customer service decreases dramatically. Its like they only want you to pay and they they forget about you. I hope people reconsider your options. I used Amen Clinics to test my son for ADD. I regret this.
I hate to say but I found the experience very disappointing. The experience is not worth the price. I definitely considered it a loss. I spent $3,000 to get a diagnosis I already knew, to take supplements I already took or knew about to prescribed a medication that didnt work. I feel I got nothing from it. I would have gained more from just reading Dr Amens books.
We were very impressed with our total experience. Everyone was very professional and friendly. More importantly, they were all concerned about helping us. Dr. Lowe is an amazing doctor who possesses the qualities of kindness, compassion, and takes the time to see to our needs in order to succeed. We are very happy to have encountered him.
Very thorough, respectful and helpful. Tech who helped me with the tests was very lovely, and dr Lowe was very good at breaking down the results I. Terms we could understand. Would recommend to anyone!
Everyone from the beginning of this process, including phone contacts, emails, and office visits were exceptional. I felt that each person took their time to explain what to expect, what was happening, and subsequently, the results. The staff was great and even assisted in other needs.I really appreciated the fact that my spiritual life, which is a very important part of my life, could be included in my plan. The results made me feel that I had greater clarity on my issues, a plan well developed, supported and understood. My husband went with me and this was a great support to the overall understanding and follow through for me in my life.I have made a commitment to make changes in my life and am thankful that I have this intervention in my life.Im not going to give up and recognize that I have to take it one day at a time.Thank you.
The woman who does the brain specs is very nice and Dr Lowe is a nice person but be prepared to spend a lot of money not just the initial cost but for everything else that follows. They refer you to doctors that cost 1200 for the initial visit and other doctors that are at least 600 to start. Plus supplements and the therapy follow up was a joke. Be prepared to pay and pay and pay.
Sad that it wasnt the experience Id hoped for my Mom. I got the feeling that the psychiatrist wasnt interested in assisting her because my Mom situation is complex as well as possibly more advanced than what theyre interested in working with. Not really sure . My Mom was given some helpful information but in the end, after this initial consultation, my Mom wasnt provided any further assistance. Maybe the other Amen clinics are better than the NYC location.
The staff is amazing. They did everything they could to accommodate us. Finally I feel like we have a plan to help our daughter. Their techniques actually make sense which has not been the case at all the previous facilities we have visited. I wish we would have went there 5 years ago for answers instead of wasting our time with traditional methods that dont help a large percentage of the population. Well worth the money!
My husband and I have been visiting this office for years now, and it has been an exceptional experience. Dr. Lowe has been outstanding, responsive, and I feel he truly listens to my needs. I was lucky enough to find him after another physician told me I was “pathetic”. His assistants have helped me through some difficult conversations- particularly Shivan and Kiera!! I would strongly recommend this practice to anyone!
A world class psychiatric and neurological treatment facility that gets right to the heart of the matter! Thank you Dr Sood, Natalie and staff for helping finally diagnose my mothers problems. She has been like a different person in the last weeks. 20 years of suffering solved in 2 days! God Bless You All!!!
Although it will be some time before the results take effect, my understanding of the overall conditions that Im dealing with gives me great optimism for the future. I learned so much more than I imagined and its all good.Great folks, a brilliant experience, truly grateful for this discovery in my life.Rod
Dr. Sandlin Lowe and his staff Natalie was amazing with our family. They offered us choices and solutions we felt were safe and effective for our daughter. He was thorough and spoke in laymans terms when it came to understanding the brain and how it works. We left hopeful and can say we even had a good time at the Amen clinic.
I was warmly received by the front desk staff, directors, and medical professionals. Between my sessions to go over my history, online assessment, scan, and sit-down with my assigned psychiatrist (Dr. Sandlin Lowe) I was provided a very thorough review with a wide range of resources. I feel extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to visit the clinic receive such incredible guidance.
What a scam! The only thing this place is interested in is collecting a fee. Once you`re paid, they give you a couple of scans with little to no follow-up and send you on your way. Dont go for the blood work they also recommend unless you`re willing to shell out another $800 on top of the $4500 you already paid because no one will cover off with you on the results of that work either. This guy talks a good game on TV and maybe at one time he provided useful services but our experience in the NYC office was a real learning experience that I`m sorry we fell for. Save your money folks.
I had a wonderful experience at the Amen Clinic. The entire staff was so attentive to both my granddaughter and me. The combined results of my SPECT scans, history and computer quizzes were explained clearly by Dr. Lowe. I received far better news than I had expected to hear. The packet of materials that I brought home are very informative. The materials are keeping me interested in being faithful to follow the Omni Diet as well as the recommendations I received at the clinic. Thank you Dr. Lowe and all of the staff. I definitely recommend The Amen Clinic.
All of the clinic staff from the receptionist, administrators, technicians and physicians were very caring, friendly, welcoming and competent. Dr. Lowe is outstanding! Looking forward to returning for follow up.
The doctor I visited was very knowledgeable and the administration staff was very friendly. The information and treatment plan I received was thorough and helpful. The technician who administered the SPECT scans was unprofessional and even rude at times. She did not ask me if I was comfortable for the scans and I didnt feel like the process was as sanitary as it could be. She seemed very absent-minded and I worried she forgot about me. Apart from my experience with the technician, I would definitely recommend the clinic and doctors there.
The whole staff at Amen Clinic was so professional and so caring.Dr Lowe was so kind to us and gave us hope with our daughters medical condition.Hoping this is the start of recovery for her.
The first thing you see when you enter Amen Clinics is a photograph of a thin, smiling, middle aged couple, Dr. and Ms Daniel Amen. (Daniel is the one on the left with the requisite New Age shaved head.) If the word, Cult! comes to mind, join the club. And dont be surprised if it keeps invading your thoughts the longer youre there. The down payment on what you hope will be a life changing course of treatment is $3,800, which entitles you to spend hours filling out an online history, an intake with your doctor; two brain scans (which no doctor Ive met outside of Amen Clinics thinks are worth anything at all); a second session with your doctor during which you learn, much to your surprise, that according to the scans you have every problem youve already told him you have PLUS at least one of Amens 7 types of ADHD (which everyone who goes there seems to walk out with as a free gift just for dropping by). Then you buy your first 1 months supply of Brain Power Max at the discounted price of $170 and pay for a series of appointments with the nutritionist, followed by another appointment with your doctor. AND THE FUNNY THING IS, I was all for it, including the bariatric chamber treatments and whatever else they might have suggested, until I started feeling increasingly worse a few days after beginning the pills and started sending my doctor emails asking whether it might be related to the pills. BUT HE NEVER ANSWERED, even though the receptionists said he got all of them So, rather than put my well being in his hand or the hands of anyone there, after 3 weeks of that medical malpractice I left.As for the office staff, they never answer call or emails about anything. I had to keep calling until someone other than an answering machine picked up, and even then no one knew what she was talking about but just read straight from a script. And the history I mentioned before, well, whatever happened to it, by the time I saw the copy the doctor had used to aid in supposedly diagnosing me, much of it, including the name of the doctor who sent me to them, was wrong. In short, research these people thoroughly and dont let your desperation get the better of you. They sound far beyond where the rest of the medical world presently is but, in my opinion, theyre quacks.
The staff here is so rude and barely answer your phone calls not to mention when you do call they send you to voicemail and I after I finally tried to talk to they hung up on me. Money hungry as well doctors are okay but it doesn’t make up for the rude staff...
I am expressing my deep appreciation, for the opportunity provided by the staff of Amen Clinics, New York, to experience first hand The Amen Method approach to Brain Health.Through this experience, I was provided with clinical shadowing training, by its highly professional and pleasant staff members. The shadowing training included a review of neuroanatomy of the brain systems and behaviors related to each system, intake and clinical history processes and assessment tools as well as interpretation of neuroimaging scans during physician evaluations.I was extremely impressed with the thoroughness of the assessments and SPECT scans, the quality of the information provided by the physicians in their analysis of the scans and the treatment options provided.I would not hesitate to refer other clients to the Amen Processes or clinicians to the Brain Health Coaching Certification Course. Thanks once again to the Amen Clinic in New York, for providing me with a knowledge base to help me provide my clients with an integrative approach to assist them in taking care of their brain health, from an information base.
Just amazing and everybody needs to go have a scan and order to live bettter!
Going to the Amen clinic and finding out how my brain is working and understanding how to take care of it was the best.
Money-hungry establishment. Just follow his techniques on YouTube or order his packages from online.
Dr. Lowe is very professional. 5 stars no doubt.
Dr Sandin Lowe is very good and spent the needed time and explained his resoning well. very knowledgeable!
Came to my follow up appointment on Tuesday, January 16th with dr Lowe which was interesting but have yet to receive his report.
I just completed my 3 day evaluation with the Amen NYC Clinic. Dr. Sood was very helpful and all of my scans validated what we suspected was going on in my brain and gave me new information that left me in tears because it explains issues I was having but were never identified by previous healthcare providers. I came away with a workable plan to get me started on the path to great brain health. The staff was incredibly professional and the Clinic Care Coordinator and Clinic Director took the time to meet with me and discuss my visit and let me know they were there to assist me in any way. My follow up is in 2months. Ill repost an update after my visit. So worth the time and the money!
The staff at Amen Clinics was friendly and professional, and they clearly have a heart for helping people. I’m excited to get started on their plan for my son.
Dr. Sood is a great doctor to work with. I had a positive experience at the clinic.
The staff at Amen were very friendy, informative, and helpful. Overall a great experience and we left with a realistic, feasible treatment plan.
A great overall experience. Professional and friendly. Warm, caring staff.
Make a difference in my life!! Very professional and Dr Sood is great
The experience at Amen Clinic was exceptional from initial contact, through the SPECT and clinical history, and meeting with Dr. Sood. I am a clinical social worker and alcohol and drug counselor who knows the impact of substances on the brain, but I learned so much more about my childs brain and feel more hopeful than I have in a long time with the treatment regimen presented. Dr. Sood sat with my husband and myself and patiently explained everything. John took the clinical history and was very thorough. Thank you to everyone at Amen Clinic. You are truly wonderful!
I remember sitting in a Practicing Mental Health Nursre Practitioners (PMH-NP) office during my Post Graduate Year 1 pharmacy residency at a health center in Bangor, ME. I was undergoing a rotation of shadowing mental health providers. Mental health and psycopharmacology was an area I seemed to have a lot of interest in, had been giving advanced pharmacy practice experience in (working in in-patient mental health institutions) and also taking psych electives during pharmacy school. I remember during one shadow session, my eyes wandered to the book The 7 Types of ADD. Intrigued, especially due to my just being diagnosed with ADD in my 6th and last year of pharmacy school, (after presenting with anxiety), I found that I agreed with the aprroach Dr. Amen was taking towards treating ADD. When my parents saw a cable special featuring Dr. Amen, they were convinced I had Ring of Fire and wanted me to go to the Amen clinic right away. I was a bit cautious of this idea, and a bit resistant as well. It took me viewing Dr. Amens TEDx talk to really understand and get excited about going to the Amen Clinic. Now that I have had a brain scan and have completed my Evaluation with Dr. Lowe, I find myself immediately charged with self-esteem. It was amazing to have the ability to Look at my Brain, an organ that had been puzzling my friends, my families, my medical providers and above all, myself for some time. I feel as if we should replace other costly, uneccessary testing such as Bone Density Scans and Vitamin D levels with SPECT scans. Everyone should have the opportunity to Look at their own brain. I was a bit emotionally stirred at the anticipation of what my scan would show, but now that Ive seen it, in all its objective glory, Wow! I wish this Joy upon everyone who struggles to Live and Exist and hold Relationships with the world while simultaneously having to cope with some mental irregulatrity they or others have diagnosed themselves with. Shakespeare in Hamlet wrote Know thyself. He meant many benefits by it, but one of them is the Power of Self-Awareness that comes with viewing ones on Brain in front of them. Having the shapes of the Brain invite questions about behavior, rather than having shapes of behavior invite questions abiout the Brain. Brain imagery and psychiatry are truly a story of backwards diagnostical approach. Just like many beneficial vitamins, minerals and supplements are being developed and marketed to the public in a backwards manner as well. This is truly an example of bottom-to-top, ground level up, grass roots (if you will) approach to caring for the Human Body. Not only am I proud that we have discovered in my Lifetime that the Brain is Connected to the Body, but that we can also See the Brain as we See the Body. Imagine the road blocks, miscommuinications and poor decisions that will be avoided once We as a Society can Conquer the Human Mind, as much as we have conquered Space travel, Deep Sea mapping, high impact exploring and invasive surgery. Just as Singer/Songwriter Amanda Palmer has helped shape the future of Art, as social media has empowered the Public as the Media, so will Brain scanning empower the Individual to See Themselves, Know Themselves, Love Themselves and Care for Themselves. Once we find that resulting Inner Peace, we will be closer to Peaceful relationships between people, cultures and countries. Namaste.
Was struggling with post concussion syndrome and they litterally saved my life. Found out that i had cranial cervical syndrome where essentially your vertebrae in your neck are pinching your arteries in your neck restricting blood flow to your brain. Got it fixed and i have never felt better. I can’t thank them enough for getting my life back on track!
It was an all around amazing experience!
Never reply my emails
