From the moment I walked in I felt welcome. Check in was smooth and I got a room right away. When I walked into the room the had birthday balloons up and free candies. Helped make my birthday very special. The room was spacious, the view was amazing and all of my special requests were fulfilled. The back was a great size, very clean and the beds were firm and comfortable. However the pillows went flat in the middle of the night and I woke up with a sore neck. Also there was an event happening at the hotel, so there was a lot of people and only one elevator working at the time. In order to get anywhere quickly it was maybe 10 to the elevator, which isnt safe during Covid at all. The longest I waited to get up to my floor was 15 minutes. Walking distance to all the hit Broadway shows, especially Lion King and Hamilton!

I didnt think it was possible for a hotel located in the center of the busiest section of town to be pleasing, but the Renaissance did it! Its very attractive. Quit for for the most part. This is very solid option, if you like being right there, @Times Square. I personally try to avoid being right at Times Sq/Broadway as much as I can, but this time my other Marriott reservation got cancelled ( hotel hasnt reopened yet). The hotel itself is quite nice, friendly service, nice brand, good benefits for Platinum Members: nice room, included lunch in the Lounge. The cost was reasonable too, the room was spacious enough, with a good view from 26th floor. All in all, if not for location, it could be close to 5 star. Renaissance is a good Marriott brand/option in large cities, as far as I noticed in my travels. Worth considering.

I cant speak enough about this hotel. The staff is absolutely unequivocally without a shadow of a doubt in my top 5. They always greeted us with a smile, were eager to help. They set up the room for my birthday before we even arrived. I felt like they were as excited to see my reaction as my husband. They offered advice on where to get my cake, flowers and balloons. And our room.... it was like we could be in the center of all of the action without leaving the comfort of our room. I cant thank them enough for all of their help to make my birthday special.

Location is obviously great and the view from the room is unbeatable. Room was clean and quiet even if we were right on time square.Appart from that the service is very poor given the price paid. On our arrival the welcome was very arrogant. Then for 2 days we have been trying to have breakfast which is not served during the week end and no one dare to tell us. When we finally get to have a breakfast (25$ Per person) you get reheated muffins in their plastic pouch, bad coffee.I think that for the price we can expect better service. But I imagine that it doesn’t matter since the hotel is on time square. Next time we will definitely go somewhere else.

The location was great, the rooms were clean. We were transferred from one room to another because the water pressure was pretty bad. The first room the water in the shower would not drain and the other shower was the same.I believe the whole building has the same issue. The shower head was not user friendly especially when you have little kids. The beds were comfortable and the housekeeper was super nice. The bar wasnt open at all not even on the weekend. It was very loud facing Broadway. There was no peace at all from the cars honking all night long.Overall it wasn’t too bad but I would not stay at Times Square ever again because it has changed a whole lot due to the pandemic and it’s not that safe to walk around there anymore. There were way too many drug dealers, homeless people and mentally ill people approaching you almost every minute.Great location but not safe surroundings.

Been there Labor day Long weekend. Cant beat the location, walking distance to Wax Museum, Central Park, Bryant Park, Krispy Kreme donuts, CVS and tons of restaurants. Olive Garden is right in the building. M&M store and Hershey store 10 feet away. Every room has a view. If you are particular, you can call and ask for the times square view probably. You sit at their bar/restaurant on 2nd floor and get the 360 view of Times square. We ordered food in their restaurant, it took about 10-15 mnts to arrive, fresh and delicious. Staff were very courteous, you can feel the warmth right away. Lobby is the calm sweet part, two computers to browse or book your tickets for sightseeing. Lobby has mens and womens restrooms too. I saw some guests relaxing at lobby chairs and just reading a book. Big Bus stop right at the hotel. Lift is very fast. Never took more than 5 minutes to reach my 21st floor from Lobby. No noise whatsoever, we had sound sleep all nights we stayed. Bathroom had sliding door, were neat and clean. Housekeeping did an excellent job, changing sheets and towels, always greeting everyone they meet. I would definitely stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel from 23 thru 30 July. Overall four stars:- Location right at times square and center to everything around.- Customer service top notch.- Rooms clean and comfortable beds to include the rollaway bed. Shower is great.- Main lobby needs lot of TLC very dim and needs more WELCOME to Renaissance.- Going from the loddy to the main floor you will find the elevator to the rooms and the restaurant where breakfast is served is nice, clean and very welcoming. Also the Restaurant oversee the whole times square.- Rooms no matter where you stay there is a view since the hotel is centered with no obstruction or adjacent buildings.- Subway station right below the hotel which was very convenient having kids.- Room Service and the cleaning staff top notch.- Two complaints and reason for four stars my room 2617 was right by the elevators you will hear it day and night not noisy but bit annoying. Shower door design is bad since it leaks water like crazy mentioned but was told will look into it not only our room others the same.- Maintenance staff great KONSTANTINE came to check our AC units and minutes later viola up and running.- Lastly shout out to Francisco Arias great customer service.- I would stay again but next time book directly thru Bonvoy to take advantage of the free internet vs paying and the reward points.

Fantastic location. But that also means it can be a little loud and bright. Even during covid-19, Times Square can be busy and noisy in that New York kind of way. And the light put off by the 50 foot Billboards can overpower even the best of blackout curtains. But if you want to be in the middle of it it all, you would be hard pressed to find something more central.

Dirty bathroom, mediocre room, view left much to be desired even though it said we would be getting a cityscape view and a view of a landmark, and questionable characters slipped past security frequently which was even more evident by the constant flow of NYPD police officers patrolling the lobby area as well as the lounge/restaurant area.I think everyone wants to have their experience of staying in Times Square in NYC at least once in their life so after getting a seemingly decent deal on the room, I just went for it, especially since my son has always dreamed of staying in Times Square. First off, lemme say that you cannot tell at all that this is a Marriott hotel until you see the sign of it in the lounge/restaurant area. The hotel is just that lackluster. The location seemed great, right off of Times Square but not necessarily in the middle of it, so there wasnt as much city noise as I was expecting. It was literally steps away from Times Square though which was probably the only redeeming quality about our visit. The entrance is small and can be easily missed so thats something to keep in mind. My sister arrived to the room before I did and actually had to ask for a new room because the bathroom was gross, complete with a dead baby cockroach on the shower wall, dried mascara on the counter and dried soap in the sink. Even when we got the new room, the bathroom was still not cleaned well and it was clear that it was a housekeeping issue. Some of our washcloths even had what appeared to be pubic hairs stuck in them. The room was not as upscale as I was expecting for the price, was actually quite smaller than I was expecting and was mediocre as far as the decor. The second room we were given was a joint room and the walls were paper thin so we heard them coughing and sniffling all night long. We were also given a room right in front of the elevator so we heard literally every guest as they arrived and departed from their room which kept us up at night. We paid more for a room with a view but all we got to see was a bunch of buildings with construction going on. And the most unnerving part were the amount of questionable characters we encountered who we then realized had quietly slipped past security to do who knows what in the bathroom of the lounge/restaurant area where we saw cops go in and out of that bathroom retrieving them. Most notably there was a guy who was seemingly strung out on one of the couch sitting areas outside of the lounge/restaurant. The staff were decent but definitely werent as friendly as I had hoped for. The security at the front desk was a little pushy with guests showing their hotel key cards so it made me wonder even more how so many people kept slipping past security. I will say that when I told them it was my sons first trip to NYC they did write him a handwritten letter welcoming him to the city and put it with a hotel coloring book and colored pencils. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel and I will not be back. Too expensive for the subpar quality room and experience you receive. Definitely not a four star hotel by any means.

In 2011, I loved this hotel. I was learning everyones name. I celebrated my birthday. I told everyone to stay, eat, or go to the bar. Then, one of the security people mistreated me so badly, I cried. I told him that never in my life had I felt like a cockroach. (Facebook reminded me of the post). I kept telling him you are wrong, I come here all the time, I even celebrated my birthday. He kicked me out. When I went to talk to another security (who knew me), he asked me not to make a big deal, the guy was new and he made a mistake, had a family. I was so distraught. No one brought the guy to apologize to me. And, since I didnt wish a family to go without food, I let it go. But the security guy would look at me when I passed by.I went back to visit, but remembering the lack of care, I no longer have joy in my heart. When Ive visited, I feel the eyes of the staff that still remember me. -- They are still wonderful people, very attentive, but I no longer trust that I can be cared by them.To my former favorite hotel, I still look longingly your way. And, I hope in current times your staff has learned not to cover up abuse. And to listen. I never wanted to sue. All I wanted was to be acknowledged that I was wronged and not to loose face.Customer service lesson wise, its interesting to notice that I still have this painful memory that blocks the good memories.

They helped with parking our vehicle, suggesting discounted attractions we could take advantage of, and even mapping out subway instructions to get to our destinations. The view of Times Square from our window was amazing. When we checked out, they stored our luggage. I called ahead for the vehicle to be retrieved from valet parking and in 20 minutes it was there in front and fully loaded. The room was spotless and the beds were a dream. I have always used mobile check in ever since it’s available. It’s a great feature that Marriott offered. However, this time I waited for the room to be ready for over an hour. Check in staff said they will call me when the room is ready. As I waited at the L lounge I have seen 3-4 parties with their luggage getting on the elevator to their room. Eventually my daughter reminded me to call and see if our room is ready since so many people arrived after us already got their room. I called and they said my room is ready. This made me wonder if I didn’t call I may have to wait even longer. Then around 8 or 9 pm I got another message said my room is ready but by then I already got a room. I love Marriott hotels especially Renaissance but this one is by far the worst service at the front desk and yet the most expensive one that I have ever stayed at. In fact, after I checked out Time Square Renaissance I checked into the ATL Renaissance Gateway next day. The service there is unbelievable amazing. I hope I can have more consistent great service in the future.

I was truly looking forward to a memorable proposal when I booked my stay at this location. The front desk attendant was kind, and secured us a nice room on the 4th floor. After a fabulous dinner with family and friends, we decided to return to the hotel for a quick cocktail. Upon our arrival, a thoughtful bottle of champagne and a note of congratulations was left in our room. Each room is equipped with a Bluetooth speaker, so we decided to put on our engagement mix for the occasion. 15 minutes later, 2 security men were at our door asking us to quiet down. I was thinking that the music was not loud, but immediately obliged. 10 minutes later, the same security came by and said he wanted to avoid any trouble if there ?were future complaints?. But no guests had ever complained (there were a handful of rooms on this floor) and we were being shamed as if there were. One security guard made mention about our terrace, but none of my 3 guests were outside. (I fully opened the door to show him). After another 15 minutes of talking about the situation, my family said they felt uncomfortable. It was Saturday night, and they couldn?t even sit in our room to talk about our future plans. We departed the hotel, and walked through a small lobby that appeared overridden with security staff. The remainder of the evening was riddled with the experience, and we came back to a bottle of champagne that was never popped. Upon returning to the hotel we overheard a few other guest complaining about a similar experience. We were clearly not alone in this feeling. Moreover, walking into the lobby was like an interrogation, and we were asked to show our room key. Since several guests entered at the same time, security was overwhelmed and began barking out directives.I?m a lifetime Platinum Elite member, and have always had wonderful experiences with the Marriott brand. (I spent well over a year of my life at Marriott hotels). I am also a retired partner for a Big 4 public accounting firm. I?m concerned about others, courteous, and have never experienced anything like this before, I flew in from Chicago, and arranged so many events that lead up to the proposal evening. We didn?t even want to extend our stay. The hotel is beautiful, and nicely located in Times Square. I loved the front desk staff and my waitress. I, however, will not be returning.

Although there is a hefty $30 occupancy fee, you get a $30 credit to be used in their restaurant or lounge at any time which is nice. I like that you need to go from the main lobby to check in but need to go up to the 2nd floor to the restaurant/lounge to take another elevator to rooms. Although the walls are thin, most guests staying there are super respectful of keeping their entrance and exit down after certain hours so others who are settling in for the night can sleep. Its close enough to Times Square but not in all the crazy crowd of the it where you need to be careful of where you are walking.

We’ve been staying at the Renaissance for many years. We’re from Brooklyn but stay in the city once or twice a year to see a show and we (almost) always stay at the Renaissance. Last year, we tried the W around the corner. We won’t go back because I absolutely hated the room decor. Now, the Renaissance has the same decor! Ugh! Small closet, little drawer space and - worst of all - the nightstand on my side of the bed doesn’t have a drawer!!! Why????? Now you look like the W. You’re not “special” anymore. That makes me sad. However, we still like the hotel - the people are really nice, the bed is comfortable, we enjoy the lounge and you can’t beat the location. Still, I wish you would have retained a more traditional decor in the rooms, to have retained more uniqueness. Now you look like the W, and many other hotels in the city. ☹️

I was in town on business and my luggage was delayed due to mechanical issues on the plane. The staff at the hotel were so nice. They sent up an overnight bag of goodies that allowed me to be able to remove the grime of travel. They gave me directions to stores in case my luggage didnt arrive before morning so I could purchase any necessary items. I ate dinner in a restaurant that showcased Times Square to its fullest. When my luggage finally arrived they brought it up to my room. They helped me not be stressed out and the bed and awesome pillows helped me get a good nights rest and be ready for my meetings. This will be my hotel of choice for all future trips. Thanks so much to the staff and all they did for me.

This was such a great experience! We were staying at another brand of hotel near by and it was terrible, we left in the middle of the night one night to switch to the renaissance. The renaissance really turned our trip around for the better. We were in NYC celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary. Justin at the front desk, and Kyla the manager went above and beyond to make our stay great! The rest of the staff we interacted with was so pleasant as well. The bedding was sooooo comfortable too. We can’t wait to come back, and I have been raving about the renaissance Times Square to all my friends and recommend they stay there as well.

I chose this hotel for New Years as a “bucket list item”. I was not disappointed. Location is perfect. The room was beautiful. Room service superb. My only complaint: breakfast should be included when one pays an extraordinary price to stay in any hotel anywhere. My friends, who stayed on ponts and paid nothing were given breakfast; I, who paid full fare, was not. Otherwise, a terrific experience and, for those contemplating a stay in NYC for New Years, highly recommended.

All I can say is Marlene from the lounge made our experience great. We utilized the lounge for dinner and a couple times in the evening during our stay. She was so personable and made our kids stay just as enjoyable. She has a great personality that the whole family fell in love with! The hotel was clean and rooms were a good size for New York. They do charge a 30 dollar resort fee but they offer other specials to offset that cost. Definitely will be staying again when we return. The location is within walking distance for all the prime spots in NYC.

Booked this hotel at short notice using my Marriott points. I was coming into town to visit a friend and her daughter who was performing in the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. I was looking for a hotel that was within walking distance. I didn’t want to be getting a can everywhere. The location was even better than I realized. I got the train into Penn Station from Newark Airport with ease. Walked the few blocks through Times Square to get there. I only had a carry on bag, so it wasn’t an issue. It might be harder if you have more luggage. Check in was easy and the receptionist was very helpful and pleasant. The room was perfect, clean with everything I needed. I had a view to the side of Times Square. Luckily the blackout curtains worked, although I do travel with a sleep mask. I felt safe staying there in my own knowing that nobody could up to the rooms without a key, as the room key was needed to activate the elevators. There were some things that annoyed me a bit, however didn’t ruin my trip. It was quite a noisy location, as they were setting up Rimes Square for New Year. There was a lot of construction noise early in the morning. I know it’s the city and its going to be noisy, but this was extra noisy. There were also very noisy occupants in the room next to me, and it did disturb my sleep a bit. I think they had been at the event downstairs and continued the party into their room. Also there was an event every night in their restaurant, which meant I wasn’t able to go sit at the bar for a glass of wine before bedtime. You can book a table through Open Table, but most availability was after 9pm. All in all it was a great trip, and I would stay here again, for location alone it was perfect for Broadway as well as 5th avenue/ Rockefeller Center.

To start, I am a Marriott lifetime Titanium member and stayed over 150 nights this year in Marriott hotels and must say this was one of the disappointing experiences I have ever had at a full service hotel. When i checked in, the gentleman that checked me in said I was getting the last King size room (not true) which was a very poor room on the 6th floor with no view. When I asked for an upgrade he said he could not give one. He also did not tell me that breakfast was included as a Titanium member, he did not tell me about Happy Hour, he did not give me the coupons for the small bites and did not explain the destination fee or there even was one. When we got to our room we were very disappointed so I went back to the front desk and this time talked to Brian who was very helpful giving us a new King Size room on the 23rd floor, explained the breakfast and the happy hour. Brian is an excellent employee and saved the trip. When we got to happy hour, the bar and lounge were closed for a private party so Happy Hours was in the lobby which seems very unfair to the registered guests. The staff was not very helpful and since it was full, made up wait for about 30 minutes at the Concierge desk. When we finally go the table, we were told (and not very nicely) that we needed the Small Bites Coupon which I did not have. I went back tot the front desk and talked to Joseph who also was very helpful and gave me the coupons. Then when I showed up at Breakfast on Saturday, they said their was no free breakfast even though I had paid the Destination fee. After returning to the room I called down and asked for a 2:00 PM late checkout which the lady very rudely informed me that I could check out no later than 1:00 PM, the hotel was full and they needed me out of there as soon as possible. I once again went to the front desk and talked to Brian who was once again very professional and extremely helpful and assisted me with both the breakfast and the late check out.

We stayed here the weekend before Christmas and this hotel is in the heart of time square and close to everything. Pretty much every where we wanted to go we were within 10 mins walking distance. We visited the restaurant in the hotel once. The service was just ok but the food was great. Was pretty displeasing when the hostess tell us we only had an hour and a half to eat before they would be busy. Otherwise our stay was great and there were no complaints! We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent hotel for a Time Square or theater trip to NYC. I stayed here for three nights and typically do not stay in Time Square when visiting New York City. However this was a trip specifically focused on attending the theater so for that it was perfect. I was upgraded to a large corner suite which was generous in size and very stylish. Two small issues I had were immediately resolved by the attentive staff. There is not a concierge level Lounge but the alternative breakfast in the restaurant was wonderful. I also ate at the restaurant which has a fabulous view of time square multiple times. I also enjoyed the lounge for appetizers and cocktails.Major subway lines to get you anywhere are right outside the door. And the staff was very attentive and directing me Towards which subway lines to use to get to Soho for shopping and to go Uptown for museums and shopping. It goes without saying that this is the Time Square location. There is a lot of noise and hustle and bustle in the area. If that’s what you were looking for this is a perfect location. Once I was in my room I did not hear any noise from the street at all.I will stay here again when theater is the reason for my visit.

I love everything about this hotel. Super comfy beds, breakfast was ok- I love their bagels, pastries and their super crispy bacon. View of the breakfast buffet was perfect especially during 7am.Only downside was it took us 10-15 minutes to get on an elevator during the time we stayed (Dec 26 onwards) since the hotel was fully booked. Other than that, our stay was perfect.

This is prime location if you want to stay in Times Square. We stayed on the highest floor (#26), it was unforgettable. The room was clean and standard in space. They charged us the resort fee but the extras they gave us were worth well over the value of the resort fee. The hotel’s restaurant has the best views, make sure you don’t miss it, even if you visit for a drink or a dessert. We didn’t try the food but we had desserts that were delicious. The concierge service was excellent, one of the best I’ve seen. The bell service was excellent as well. Great stay overall!

You couldn’t ask for a better location for shows, great restaurants, and people watching! Right next to TKX and all the billboards. Bustling area. The staff is second to none - from the doormen, to housekeeping, to the front desk - everyone was nice, friendly, competent and attentive. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable... and well stocked. It is pricey but worth it!

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at the Renaissance Times Square Hotel. Location, location, location. There simply is NOT a better located hotel. We stayed as part of a birthday gift for my wife. Though we are local and an easy drive/train ride into the city, I had purchased a matinee and an evening broadway show as well as the hotel stay as a gift.We are both frequent travelers and have stayed in many fine hotels around the world. This staff was among the most friendly we have ever encountered. They went absolutely overboard in making it a memorable celebration for my wife. The lobby lounge has an incredible view of Times Square- Looking directly over Duffy Square and the TKTS booth- down to the heart of Times Square itself. The drinks were PERFECT and the food was great.Out the front door it is a short walk to literally every Broadway show in New York, and for those who are so inclined, theres a hop on/ hop off tour bus right outside the door.We stayed in a room with a King Bed. It was appointed in a funky New York vibe that included a snow globe of NYC. The bathroom was great. The room was both large and quiet. We have decided we will make The Renaissance an annual treat for both our birthdays. BEST HOTEL EVER.

My husband & I loved this hotel. Bed was comfortable & the location of the hotel was perfect, right in Times Square. You step out of hotel & you are right in the middle of everything. View from the R Lounge is spectacular...wonderful way to end the evening. My one & only complaint was our room had a door for access to the room next to us for conjoined rooms I guess...we could hear the people in the room next to us just talking, in a normal voice while we were across the room...thats how well you can hear through it. So makes you feel as though your privacy is invaded because they can hear you too. Not really something you want on a romantic getaway with your spouse. Other than that everything else was perfect.

Been staying here over twenty years on our annual trip to NYC for theater and fun. Location is great. BUT, after seeing the hotel undergo at least three renovations, we were very disappointed this time. Bed is comfortable, but there are no drawers in room so we couldnt unpack. I dont like living out of a suitcase for three nights! New York is an exhausting city. We would return to the room in the late afternoon to regroup before dinner or theater, and other than the desk chair, there was no place to sit and relax except the bed. We could go to the bar, but that is hardly quiet and relaxing. Music is blasted in the elevators and other public places day and night. Menu for bar is limited, and they were out of everything except three items. Breakfast is a disappointment with paper cups for the $32.00 serve yourself buffet that is free at many hotels. European hotels always include breakfast. I expect to pay a premium for a glass of wine in New York, but $15 for a 6 oz pour of a mediocre wine that can be purchased for $10/bottle just really irritates me.

Coming to NYC to celebrate multiple milestone birthdays with 4 ladies, we definitely wanted to treat ourselves. And this hotel did not disappoint! Every element of the hotel was great and was just enough of what we needed. It is not a huge property, but provided spacious rooms (hard to believe in a boutique size hotel in Manhattan!), lovely lounge and great staff! And we very much appreciated the proximity to the theater district for the shows we saw - helpful after a day of sightseeing so we didnt have to walk that far to the theaters. The hotel provided a great base for creating lots of great memories!

This hotel is located in times square. That being said on the weekends the noise of honking cars, blazing motorcycles, and people screaming can be heard from your room (I was in the 17th floor), well until 3 to 4 in the morning. As a jump off location its great to see Manhattan and the price was good, about $198 a night, but thus may be due to Covid. Also, the restuarant is closed so there is no food, drinks or room service available. Might want to call to check what services they have before making reservations. I probably will not stay here again.

One step outside this hotel and you are knee deep in Times Square. Great if thats what youre looking for and perfect if youre in town for a show. But if youre looking for an authentic experience of the diversity of experiences this city has to offer, then maybe this isnt the spot. One night in TS is all you need. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, good value. Quirky decor...

At check in super friendly as usual and efficient. When I go to my room I noticed that there was a bottle cap under the desk. Which I immediately think not a great job vacuuming.I notice in the bathroom when I go to brush my teeth that there is no vanity set, shower cap or sewing kit, or make up remover which I usually encounter at the other renaissance hotels. I could not remember is this was normal for this hotel or not.In the morning I go to shower and I shampoo my hair the. Go to use the conditioner and as I put it in my hair I realized it’s body lotion. The house keeper had put two lotions instead of conditioner. I had to rewash my hair. Which I do have long hair and this made it hard to also brush. I don’t typically complain but did at this point. The very nice young lady named Joy was really great and apologetic! The house keeper made sure she cleaned and fixed the problem as well. Everyone there is very nice. Great service foe breakfast and at the bar areas! I would add that it would be nice to have some water in the room to make coffee that is not a charged bottle of water. Thank you,Daniela

We pulled up to the hotel on 7th Ave. and didnt know what to expect, but were meet almost immediately by the bell staff who offered help with our bags and got took car of having our vehicle valet parked. The check in lobby looked a little sparse, but the staff was friendly and explained we took the elevator up 2 floors to the actual visitor lobby and the area was very nice with a view out onto the Times Square area. The room would be described as large by NYC standards. Overall a GREAT LOCATION, right in Times Square, friendly staff, large rooms, hard to ask for more.
