This studio is very well maintained and delivers high quality service . I came here for my small tattoo removal and had 3 sessions with their laser equipment. Can definitely see the results after their treatment- tattoo starts to fade.Their scheduling system is also made simple and convenient- never had an issue.Staff members are respectful and polite. They also offering numbing gel prior each session - nice option to have.My treatment specialist was Megumi - highly satisfied with her skills, extremely professional and knowledgeable master.One thing I wish this studio to be more flexible with - it’s prices. The first 3 sessions on my 5sq. Inch tattoo was done with discount, which I really appreciate. I’d love to have another 5 or 6 sessions done but the cheapest option I was offered is to become a member for 6 months and cancel my membership for extra fee after that. That package would cost around 700$ and I find it too expensive for small tattoo removal.Other then that - definitely great studio.

Horrible experience w/ tattoo removal- and no refund after showing the manager before and after pictures. I had a simple tattoo to remove- 6 sessions in and ZERO progress. They told me this should be a 6-8 process. This place is really bad for the tattoo removal service. After going to new places for consultations- not only did they tell me this lack of progress is concerning, they also told me its extremely concerning no technician told me to use Vitamin E oil (so now I have skin discoloration because they refused to be straightforward about anything important). Do not go here for tatt removal!!!! Other places actually give you a guarantee. Theyll say pay X amount for this many sessions & dont pay again. Step Up Skin Laser provided unrealistic expectations and I am extremely upset. The staff is super nice and the place is clean, but I hope this review helps save anyone possibly considering them for tattoo removal. Complete waste of $, time, and pain.

I bought the body membership, and had my coolsculpting session here today first time here although not my first coolsculpting; and I must say this was the best I’ve experienced ! They made sure I was comfortable, they explained everything to a T. Can’t wait to come back! Definitely recommend and already told all my girl friends about it!

Ive been going to Step Up Skin Laser for quite some time now. Leen has done my last couple of treatments and I have never been happier with the results! I am extremely picky when it comes to cosmetic procedures, so I really appreciate the fact that she takes the extra time and makes the extra effort. My last treatment from Leen honestly gave me the best results Ive had thus far - I didnt have to shave AT ALL in the interim between that treatment and my next. Leen is also very conscientious of my comfort during the treatment sessions. She makes every effort to adjust the lasers so as to optimize not only my results but also my comfort. Overall, I highly recommend Leen for any laser hair removal needs you may have!

So today I went for my very first laser treatment and I was a little nervous about it but the technician was so understanding and showed compassion about my concerned areas. I felt very comfortable in my consultation & treatment that I give this place a 5star review!!! Not only was the technician wonderful but the front desk was so nice and the place is so clean, compare to other places I went to in the city!! Rita is great, thorough, and does a very good job all the time. Shes gentle and always checks with you if youre feeling any discomfort. Its fairly easy to set an appointment year-round.

I wanted to remove face & neck hairs because in some face areas my hair doesn’t grow, so I decided to go for laser on face & neck but after 1 year, look.. wasted my time... I seriously never saw any improvement, They tell you oh we have the latest laser equipment🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yeah right!Anddddddddd they charge you 35 dollars for rescheduling appointment or no show 😂😂 Please I know New York is expensive but some places just need to show the gun!!

I have been going to Step up for almost an year now with unbelievable results. The appointments are very easy to make and they are fairly accommodating, the facility is clean and the people are very professional. Right from my first visit itself, they have made me feel very comfortable, explained all the dos and dont every time. I started seeing results from my first visit itself. And now that I am towards the end of my one year package, I couldnt have been happier. Its amazing that I never have to worry about shaving again.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! Had the most amazing experience! Im really sensitive to laser hair removal but this wasnt painful at all. The technician was super sweet and helpful and I was in and out of there in 15 minutes. Cant wait to come back for my next treatment!

I have been going to Step Up for a few months they have been nothing but nice and courteous. They have always me feel welcome. I have very thick body hair and have seen substantial reduction to almost nothing. Since my hair is stubborn and thick it a miracle that they were able to reduce it this much. The technicians are nice and make you feel comfortable. I would recommend this place to everyone.

When I first started I had worries but the specialists made all my worries go away. Could not leave much review on the result as Ive decided to stop visiting due to uneducated male front desk... and please BE AWARE that you will be charged $30 for rescheduling if period unexpectedly came on the appointment day!Owner: Do educate your male front desk NOT all women use tampon and have regular period!!! It does not matter how good the technician is. Seriously, do not judge book by its cover and being a smart pants. Just not right!

I stumbled upon step up skin laser because groupon had an amazing deal, one year unlimited treatments for two areas for 200$... The unlimited part is a lie, they say they can only schedule you every 6 weeks which only lets you get less than 9 treatments. But even for the price thats still a good deal.Customer service is amazing the people are nice and very was to make an appointment. If you get there a few minutes late they will fill you in and not give you an attitude. Which is very nice..But the reason Im giving this a 1 star is because of results...At first when the treatments were happening it was great I noticed the hair lighter and coming less and less each month. Once the treatment stopped, my hair came back and in full force & quicker. Im highly disappointed because now Im left with more hair than what I started.

I’m sure this place is good for their other services but definitely not for their tattoo removal. Lasering is done under 10 mins and does not fade away after many sessions. Was not satisfied whatsoever and will most likely never recommend.

To be honest, I am really shocked that this company has a 4.8 rating. The staff there is fine, but I have seen ZERO results from my treatment and I have had 6 consecutive appointments already. The growth of my hair has not even slowed down as an indicator that the treatment is working. I am not sure if it is due to the low-tech lasers they are using. But I absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone. I also have a friend who was going went to four appointments and stopped going due to the inconsistent quality and level of service and non existent results.

Thanks to Step Up, I am yet another step closer to becoming a hairless cat. I purchased a Groupon a while back to laser my lower legs and my knees. I opted out of doing full leg because my thighs don’t have much hair there anyway, so it’s not like I’m walking around with half smooth/half Sasquatch legs. I started seeing REAL results after the third session - meaning, I didn’t even really have to shave between the 6 week sessions. The hair on my legs were coarse and dark but when they do grow back now, it’s really light. I also had a ton of in-grown hairs on my knees but now they’re (almost) as smooth as a baby’s butt. There are still a few stragglers there but maybe I just didn’t exfoliate as much as I should have been exfoliating. I’m super happy with the results and am happy to have finished right before the start of summer.

There are many available customer representatives to attend you and they make sure that you are addresses as quickly as possible. The environment is very professional. I do recommend it.However, make a note that prices here are on the expensive side( what do you expect from a 5th Avenue location!!) Groupon really saved me.

I finally stopped going to Step Up Skin back in May 2018, after TWO years of consistent treatment (NEVER missing an appointment and proper aftercare), but very minimal results. Im writing this review not out of sheer anger, but to genuinely educate prospective guests.Ill keep this as concise as possible: The staff at Step Up Skin is super sweet and hospitable. The facilities are pretty, clean, and calm. Making appointments is super easy and reception is always accommodating about last minute changes and even lateness. This is all great. However, nice staff and pretty chairs do not equal hair removal, which is the primary service I paid for. Granted, upper management did grant me over a year of complimentary sessions -- they wouldnt have had to do this if the service was effective in the first place. Simply put, I do not take it as a favor for management to deliver the intended service which I paid for.As mentioned in other reviews, being an African American woman receiving services at Step Up Skin was a nightmare. I partially blame myself for maintaining business with them for so long, when I should have really left after my Groupon expired.Each time you visit, you have a different technician and based on their comfort level, they use a different intensity with the laser. Not only this, but technicians generally never knew where the last one left off. Often times, technicians felt uncomfortable using a higher intensity due to my darker pigment, which consequently compromised my sessions. They often complained that the laser might burn me. If this safety provision had been made clear to me during my first visit/consultation, maybe I wouldnt have so much grief about it.But, had I known that discomfort (masked as cautiousness) around my skin color would result in me having sessions spread over two years? I easily would have looked to have services done elsewhere. I moved after my first year of services and ended up traveling back and forth between Philadelphia and New York every four weeks to have sessions done. This was done, of course, with hopes that I would eventually get my moneys worth. This never happened. To date, I still have virtually all of my hair.To summate, imagine being told after each session that your skin color is the reason you arent receiving results for a PAID service? Yes, biology plays a huge role in laser hair removal, but there are plenty of black women who have experienced successful laser hair removal. The fact is, the lasers at Step Up Skin are not effective in treating dark skin. Period. I wish they would take ownership of this and update their equipment and/or their advertising.Sidebar: toward the end of my services, I ended up having sessions with one technician consistently. Her name is Mayra and she is the sweetest person in the world. She really wanted to help me. But even she recognized that the laser just was not working on me. *All this to say, I would never return to Step Up Skin Laser nor would I recommend them to anyone else. I still shave just as I did before I paid for their services. After two years, I still have about 75% of my hair under my arms and on my Brazilian. In fact, I have even MORE hair in the back of my Brazilian than I had before Step Up Skin. This is due to shaving there, in between sessions, when I had never shaved there prior to laser. Of course, since the laser didnt remove that hair, it now grows back long and thick. Thus, the very place that was supposed to help me feel sexy and confident has robbed me of that and given me more to be insecure about.UPDATE: please read Step Up Skin’s very unprofessional responses to poor reviews. Accusing their customers of corroborating with employees and looking for “free treatments” because they’re unhappy with their results? I hope this gives you a glimpse into how shady they can be. Please avoid at all costs.

I had a very bad experience at Step Up Skin. First, the staff was very cold and rude to me. Second the technician responsible for my treatment did an extremely bad job. I was told that the treatments takes 30 minutes but she was done in less than 10 minutes. I have ZERO results from the laser although I have done laser treatments before and I saw immediate results. Finally, to make my experience even worse, the technician tried to cross-sell me other services which I completely understand from her standpoint. But the way it was done was extremely rude and pushy. It made me feel like they were very unhappy with the fact that they couldnt get anything else out of me. To be honest, if the treatment I received was good and if I see results, of course I will buy other services. But in this case this was a complete waste of my money.

Very professional and friendly staff and you are always welcomed with open arms and make you feel comfortable, I have done around 8 sessions here and the result has been very good. The team has guided me through the process to avoid any sunburns or any other complications after the sessions . I am very happy with the prices since they use the latest equipments . Highly recommended !!!!

Totally I do not recommend this place...I went to this place because I found a good special in Groupon, the results were HORRIBLE Im totally frustrated, when I started it I had some a little hairs that bothered me and after the 9 treatment My hair becomes MORE and THICKER by using the shaver that they also tell you to uses for the treatment .totally I do not recommend this place, after that they wanted me to pay more For another treatment that is a scam.... Really recommend for laser hair removal! I have been to MANY different places for laser because I have required touch ups or multiple sessions/packages for the same few areas, but moved back to NY from Boston so Ive tried out a few different places both there and here, so Ive been trying to find a salon I really like. Ive also loved the results of laser treatments, so Ive done multiple areas! I have and will continue to recommend to anyone who asks to go here for laser.ANYWAY, Step Up is BY FAR the BEST place out of the now 5 places I have been to for laser. Their machines are just as effective, but are SIGNIFICANTLY less painful than any of the other ones. Im not sure what exactly the difference is technology wise, but instead of zapping you inch by inch, their machines go repeatedly over the area multiple times in shorter bursts and I guess thats what makes it less painful? Idk. Either way, its just as effective and Ive noticed great results and am obviously so pleased that its not as painful!The staff is very friendly and relaxed. Most recently I had Vicki, who was extremely knowledgable but more importantly super nice! She was willing to answer any questions and made me very comfortable. I do wish they had somewhere to wash off the gel in the rooms other than just wiping it off with a paper towel. My only complaint!Their new space on 5th avenue is HUGE, clean and very pleasant. I will continue coming back here for sure :)

I have been going to step up for 9 months and have had a positive experience. The technicians are knowledgeable and personable. Theybuse the latest technology, which is less painful than my prior treatments at a different company (felt like rubberbands being snapped on my skin). I say less painful because the less sensitive parts of my body (lower legs) feel nothing during treatments, whereas the full Brazilian is admittedly painful, but in my experience the treatments last longer than waxing but take about the same amount of time, if not less. Dont worry if the hair grows back right away - it will fall out within a week, esp if you exfoliate. All in all, a positive experience and I would recommend to others looking into laser hair removal.

Manager tried to solve problem with me.Bad customer service overall, 1. On the phone I had to wait 10 minutes for a call to be answered and appointment to be scheduled. Every time! 2. The first session was done by an Indian woman. She was very rude and didnt want to work on me. She did a very rough and bad job. No result. Wait is long even I was on time.

I found out about this place through purchasing a Groupon for Laser Hair Removal. Its my first session And Im already able to see the difference. Luisina the laser specialist always made sure I was comfortable and answered all my questions, very friendly and profesional, she gave me great recommendations for follow up after the procedure. Everyone is very nice at the office, they make you feel special and the space is soo clean and Beautiful. I highly recommend coming here for hair laser removal. Im very pleased with their service.

So i am very hairy, almost scary and decided laser is the way to go they have a painless diode laser with a cooling system wich allows them to put a higher setting in the machine and you wont feel a thing. After the first treatmeant I immidiately saw results it took 5 days for my hair to grow back when it use to grow daily i have a very corse thick black hair. Also everyone there was very welcoming and informative im more than happy to have choose Step up skin laser its the best investment I have ever done!

The machines work the hair has been reduced on the areas I treated but the staff is very rude and unaccommodating. had to reschedule 3 times. The front desk staff do not care at all about costumers.
