I have read all the reviews from the past and they seem a bit harsh to me, but I can only speak from my point of view and the club has been great for me and things are much better in the last few months.I’ll share my own experience, of the place.. I had my own research about the evolution of the TMPL.It changed leadership recently and with it the atmosphere, and it’s gotten much better!!The trainers are happy to help you when needed!The desk employees are smiling and happy to show you around, I understand the fact they would ask you to fill some papers after all they want to follow up with your decision :)At the end, it is how I chose to communicate with others that makes the experience good or bad.. and I can truly say it’s been great :)Been a member of the gym in the past 5 months.
TMPL is super convenient to where we live and the staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. I have never felt like it was hard to find a machine or that it was hard to do the workout I intended to due to crowding. For other workout experiences of the same quality this seems like a bargain to me!
TMPL is an excellent gym. My experience here has been nothing but positive. The staff is friendly and accommodating. It is super clean. It’s generally never too busy, and I never have to wait for a machine/weights. The trainers are amazing. They are extremely knowledgeable and always available to answer any of my questions. My trainer Chris is fun and always in a good mood. He is genuinely interested in helping me reach my goals. He is always pushing me to go further and he makes my training sessions something to look forward to. I cannot recommend this gym enough.
Hands down the best gym I’ve been to! The staff are friendly and do an awesome job keeping everything clean. The general manager, Jack, is very welcoming and truly cares about the club and it’s members. The atmosphere itself motivates me and I have never felt intimidated here as I have in the past at other gyms!!
I’ve been coming here since they reopened and I really like the gym. Spacious, good quality machines and even classes too!
TMPL West Village is the best Gym Ive ever been to in NYC. Awesome staff, when I signed up, after a tour with Ali, he connect me with a trainer and I received a free hour session, which help me better understand what my fitness goals should be. I use to be a member of Equinox, however after my 1 day guest pass, I canceled Equinox the next day.
Love this gym! TMPL west village has every piece of equipment you need and is very clean. The staff is very kind and professional. The trainers help with any questions you have and show true expertise in the field. Nicole, Eduardo, Rai and the rest of the staff always remember my name and make me feel very welcomed. Highly recommend joining this gym.
I like the gym, good quality standards, equipment maintained well and management really cares about the concerns of members in reviews. I had concerns and they were taken up immediately. Joined TMPL a few months ago and so far really enjoying it. Jonathan is great and I highly recommend him if you are looking for a trainer.So far, my experience with the classes have been really positive, especially with Michael.The facility is clean and the staff is friendly.

I LOVE this gym! It is nothing like you are use to. Friendly staff, very clean equipment. Need help figuring out a workout plan best for you? That okay becuase they have Personal Trainers on staff ready to help! This gyms design is nothing like you’ve seen and the vibes here are amazing. I went there today, intending to join, having been a member for years of the last gym that was in the same location . I was greeted by. Happy Young Man, I asked if I could take a quick look? That didn’t seem possible, they require some lengthily paperwork, just to view the place? Obviously it’s to add or sell your personal information . I said I wasn’t filling out the paperwork so, the Happy Man behind the desk, demeanor changed BAM, he shot me a look as if he just smelled rotting cabbage, grabbed the paper and said Well! Ok Well, looks like I dodged a bullet!

Ripped off my friend for over $600 despite her going in to cancel, and calling in thrice afterward. No emails to notify membership changes, and shifty customer service. After chasing them another two times and posting a negative review, she finally got a reply and a refund of the money.Fantastic facility otherwise, with top class equipment. You’ll actually enjoy this place if you are a frequent gym rat (I went once on her guest pass and had a good workout), but just plan on going until you die, or go bankrupt, or cancel your payment method. Avoid!
Not only have I had a wonderful experience at this gym and this specific location (West Village, 7th Ave South), the staff has been extremely cordial and always helpful. Each time I walk in to work out, I am greeted with a friendly face and sincerity. The gym is always impeccably clean, maintained, and COVID procedures are in place. Have nothing but amazing things to say about TMPL!!! Highly recommend!!!
Even though I had a horrible experience with the prior company (NYSC), the new management team here has worked with me to solve the issues I experienced. I really appreciate the flexibility and creativity they exercised to make this situation right. Looking forward to training here again!_____________________________________________My review of prior NYSC managment:IGNORED MY CANCELLATION and FRAUDULENTLY CHARGED ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.Even though I cancelled my personal training membership early last year, this location continued to charge me a $460 monthly bill multiple times. I reached out to their team with detailed notes to address the issue and was assured that I would receive reimbursement. However, this never arrived.Instead of resolving the issue, NYSC continued to fraudulently charge me throughout the covid pandemic. I reached out again to their team representative last year and he assured me that I would be refunded shortly. I have not received reimburesment for these fraudulent bills.If you do decide to offer your business to this company, I would make sure to keep a strong paper trail and confirm the contents of any calls in writing.When I contacted them last month, they said Christine in Customer Service would handle the problem. It has been weeks, and Ive not heard from her. I would absolutely stay away from this unprofessional, fraudulent business. They have been an absolute nightmare to deal with and have proven their lack of trustworthiness again and again.Im not surprised NYSC was sued by the NY Attorney General for fraud.
IGNORED MY CANCELLATION AND CHARGED ME HUNDREDS FOR MONTHS. The team is not understanding during these tough times. When they re-opened in September I sent an email immediately asking to cancel my membership. I had left New York for the end of the year and did not realize that they kept on charging me. When I tried to cancel they were not understanding whatsoever about charging me for months even though I didn’t go to the gym once. I am very upset.I had stopped my full-time job during the pandemic and cannot afford these charges and they won’t refund me.Do not go to this gym. They don’t help people in a pandemic.UPDATE: they are now telling me they can’t reimburse me because their system changed 🤨 I call BS
Not trustworthy.I was a former NYSC member, pre-pandemic.Without any action on my part, my membership was shifted to TMPL. I’ve been charged multiple times now without my authorization. While they always (so far) have refunded me when I call to complain, I cannot trust them with my credit card info and you shouldn’t either. Charging someone without their consent for services they didn’t receive is theft, plain and simple.
After promising to cancel my membershipAnd continuing to charge in March 2020 I disputed their charge and assumed my membership was cancelled. I was charged over 400 dollars in February for no apparent reason, and when calling they advised to dispute through the bank because they don’t issue refunds . I then disputed that charged only to discover I was charged again a few days later. Don’t know what the deal is but it can’t be legal to use my credit card details and charge me like this. I would strongly advise to stay away from them, super unprofessional, never get back to you and very poor customer service not to mention they need to get their act together in terms of billing .

Took my membership from NYSC, raised my rate with no notification and didn’t bother telling me that I was no longer a member of NYSC. Fraud.Also, the membership team of Christina and Rai take no responsibility for the actions of their company. They both repeatedly told me I was wrong without listening or comprehending my side of the issue.I wouldn’t trust these people with anything.

(COVID REVIEW): The gym is clean, equipment is great, staff is friendly and attentive. The staff at TMPL in particular, is very easy to work with & kind (responsible for all the positive elements of this review) and have made post-covid much easier to handle.The poor part of the review is due to the fact that NYSC parent company owns this gym, a year ago NYSC re-branded TMPL to become the NYSC of 7th avenue. Then covid hits - nysc over charges guests and offers a year of free premium membership to all locations, and after about 6-8 weeks of reopening, NYSC of 7th is to become a TMPL again (which is not covered by NYSC membership). TMPL is more than triple a NYSC membership on average. This was a tactic by NYSC to widen profits.
I cancelled my membership in March due to Covid. My NYSC gym on 23rd St/8th Ave even closed for good. Yet TMPL (=NYSC) kept charging my credit card. I went there mid October to speak to someone at the gym, and the front desk person told me they transferred me over to this gym - I never agreed to that, and I dont even live in that neighborhood. Also told me she contacted Christine in Customer Service who would handle this issue. It has been four weeks since then, and I never heard from her. They just charged my credit card again in November. This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable.
I called TMPLs West Village location hoping to get more information on the gym, and the manager was extremely rude, condescending, and impolite. Should be fired immediately.
Love this gym! Signed up for two months while in Manhattan for the summer. Great value for quality. Beautiful, brand new, top of the line equipment, very friendly staff. Been getting in great workouts. Solid place and good price point. Highly recommend.
Went for a job interview...was treated like trash..I hope whomever goes to this gym!?!? Clogs the toilet or messes up the shower..they have no people skills...unless you have or come from money..
This place is notorious for continuously charging you for your gym membership and making it very very hard to cancel. It took me almost 4 months to cancel. They are very unresponsive. Additionally, I would get all requests regarding cancellations and fees IN WRITING. I did not do this so I ended up having nothing to point to when they kept charging me after not remembering the fact I cancelled the membership. They didnt acknowledge the cancellation. In all, Id stay away. There is a really great location with better people on Varrick St 10 minutes away.
My membership got transferred to them when NYSC went bankrupt. They never showed me a new agreement nor did I sign any contract with them. Now they are refusing to refund me any payments for a membership I never signed up for. Another shady gym to avoid.

Excellent equipment! They provide comfort for proper form, mirrors at various angles to verify the form maintains throughout the set. Cardio equipment is state of the art and modern. TMPL provides classes, my favorite is the aerial yoga!! Oh yeah and boxing!Definitely recommend checking this place out!
Good luck trying to cancel on your membership. Id rather pay higher fees at other gyms than dealing with billing issues. Their receptionist and sales person (on the phone) gave you different info.
Charged $110 even though I was still in the 10-day trial. Very shifty business practice. No sauna and less impressive than its other location. AVOID - there are better options.

Do not sign up or work for this gym. I was en employee here and they will do anything to keep a buck. They never paid me for hours that I work nor was I reached out by NONE of the managers to address or try to fix the issue. After waiting months for a paycheck... MONTHS! that was never received I had to take matters into a different hand. These people are for themselves. Dont care for employees let alone members. The disrespect and selfishness of this place should not go unnoticed or unaddressed.
Pretty good gym at best, new and clean. Definitely not a luxury gym, the hairdryer is the men’s locker room is a great example..
Cancelled the $5 trial in writing with Jane but they still charged my credit card $150 anyway.Update: two weeks later, Im still waiting for a refund. Jane assured me in writing the membership was cancelled, but they charged me another $70 anyway without explanation. I didnt authorize either charge.Strongly recommend to stay away.
Location is super convenient, locker rooms are gorgeous and the classes are great! Specifically aerial yoga, what a lovely treat after a workout or just a long work week.
Beware! I took the $5 trial and it’s almost impossible to cancel. I had to call 3 times and send a number of emails. At first they insisted I’ll come in person but finally I spoke to the new members manager who was kind enough to cancel over the phone. After all that they charged me $10 cancellation fee

They’ve had billing issues but were able to resolve them for me after 1 month. Interior design is gorgeous BUT...1. Membership fees at this location are the same as the HK location but the HK location is exceptionally larger and offers more amenities such as a pool and steam room. The West Village location only has 5 showers in the men’s lockeroom.2. I completed a 10 day trial for $5. No one from the sales team followed up to see what I thought or if I enjoyed the experience. I received nothing in writing that even suggested that it was up to me to contact the sales team after my trail to cancel or continue on with a full membership. A whole week and a half after my trial ended, I was charged $150 for a membership. I did not sign a member agreement or authorize the charge. When I contacted Jane, she stated that because I didn’t reach out they assumed I wanted to continue on and charged my card. This a an extremely poor business practice that doesn’t incite loyalty or faith in the business.I’m still waiting for a refund.
Decent place. It’s started great as TMPL And now is part of NYSC elite. Going downhill. If you want a luxury gym there is Equnox and now coming soon lifetime HRC
This has now been an Elite location of NYSC for some time. Lots of equipment, very clean showers, large windows overlooking 7 ave. Group fitness studio with lots of punch bags, etc.
It is open but they are still working out the kinks. It is a very pretty space, but there are some imbalances in how they allocated space and equipment that could become an issue if and when the number of members increases.

Horrible gym!!! Dont join! Summary of issues according to my own experience and whats posted online- lots of mentally unstable people- members coming to the gym high on meth, steroids etc- deceptive business practices including billing scams and privacy issues. Do you really want all employees to have access to your home address, phone number and payment information?- lots of drug addicts. Its time to name each member and their employers- the gym always look great at this time of year but will quickly turn into a homeless shelter like condition- broken equipment will take weeks to repair- sneaky advertisement of brand products (shampoo, conditioner etc) offered that are actually cheap generic stuff- its now operated and owned by nysc parent company, tsi- staffs are worst than poor car salesman- personal trainers and group instructors not showing up but will charge you for the session- hustlers, escorts, scam artists and thieves- drug dealers! These are not your typical street corner dealers. They are teachers, bartenders, escorts, Broadway actors, unemployed writers, nurses, etc- overstayed visa hustlers. I rather have illegal foreigners than these overstayed creepers any dayRead the reviews of their hells kitchen location. Its fantastic in the beginning. Then one issue after another will drive you insane. Its usually glamorous in January of each year only. Then youll see molds, unsanitary conditions, etcAgain... DONT JOIN!
