This review is long overdue but very much necessary.My mother passed unexpectedly in April 2019 - by June 2019, I somehow managed to dig out her retro 80s leather jacket that I vividly remember her wearing for years on end. The jacket had seen better days - leather was worn and beat, interior lining had holes and missing stuffing, and the fit was off, larger 80s-like shoulders, sleeves too long and waist too wide. Before the leather repairs, Rahman was able to help me refit the jacket to be truly wearable. Not only did he do a great job, he was caring, kind and sympathetic - even sharing his own story of losing his mother. I cannot recommend him enough. Thanks to him, this jacket will be a lifelong possession.

Rahman is an extremely talented and professional alteration specialist. He was able to alter three of my dresses that required complicated changes in a just a few days!! He is very affordable, centrally located and overall provides great service.

This was my first time going to a tailor and let me tell you, the tailor was so nice and professional, he really set the bar for me! I will definitely come back whenever I need more fixes and alterations. The prices were also pretty decent especially since it was in the middle of Manhattan.

Rahman is great - hes meticulous, attentive and he does it at a very reasonable price. I got 2 nice dresses altered and I picked them up the next day. His shop is not on the main street, its on the 6th floor of the building but its worth venturing in.

Went to this place to fix my dress which had to be done in 2 days and it wasn’t an easy job because the dress was little fancy with all those pretty laces. He did his job sooo perfect just in ONE day. Perfectly did what I asked for. What I most love about this place is that he is professional and nice and even the price is VERY AFFORDABLE. Even in a small town about an hour from Boston charged me $200 for the exact same job which is cut the length of the dress and tighten the waist part and this place charged me only $85 in MANHATTAN.Must find this place if you want any outfits to be altered real quick in an affordable price ❤️ thanks to him I had a very successful photoshoot and leaving a review with my selfie😉 I guess I’ll find this place a lot since I’m only 5ft that all the dress and pants I buy are too long for me no matter what😏

Ive gone to Rahman twice and had four pairs of pants taken in. Every time theyve come out perfectly, including jeans that needed to be taken in in the legs and hemmed. Everything fits as expected afterward, and is ready on time. Highly recommend Rahman!

TLDR : Exceptional - Rahman is a gem - GO HEREI have had tons of alterations over the years - of varying degrees of difficulty - it always makes me so nervous that I would totally be willing to deal with a less than delightful person for a well executed or even reliable alterationBUT this is not Rahman at all - he is an immaculate professional who returned a variety of different alterations - he completely restored items I thought impossibly ruined- before promised - beautifully executed - he is creative, exacting, experienced, knowledgeable AND an absolute delight

Ill write this review specifically for Rahmans EXPERT tailoring of Indian clothes. I generally only trust my clothes to be bought / altered in India (or maybe Jersey, in a pinch).When I needed an Indian outfit taken in for a wedding, I was at a loss because I wanted a tailor who was in Manhattan, who wouldnt ruin the Indian clothes (with lots of stonework and delicate fabric), but who also wouldnt charge an arm and a leg. Rahman knew exactly what I needed when I came to try on and was super flexible in making sure it was done before my event (he even got it done early!).He did the changes without cutting any corners (like I would expect for someone who had stitched by clothes for me in India) and was reasonably priced and super nice / helpful. Would seriously recommend coming here for all of your needs for Indian clothes.

As portly I tend to need further custom tailoring after purchasing suits. Particularly difficult is finding a tailor confident enough to take the shoulders in and skilled enough to do it properly. Rahman is a world class and severely understated tailor.

Came in to get a gown altered for a wedding a week in advance. Rhamen was precise and gave me recommendations for what to tailor and what not to tailor. The cost was on point and he did not overcharge me. I will be coming back for anything that needs alterations and would recommend him for all of your clothing needs.

I had to have a bridesmaid dress taken in and hemmed, and also had to have temporary satin trim added to the lapel of my boyfriend’s suit jacket for a wedding. I wasn’t even sure the temporary satin trim would be possible, but he made it happen! He does great work and has a really quick turnaround. Definitely recommend!

The best alteration shop!!

I had the absolute best experience here. I needed a gown altered relatively quickly and he was incredible. When I came to pick it up, I had switched my shoes and he re sewed it for me right there and it was done in 10 minutes-I didn’t know that customer service like that still existed. Thrilled!

He is literally across the street from my office. He was very quick and did a good job.. Prices for the area was reasonable. Will definitely use him again.

Best Alternation Shop EVER! on 10Sep17 I visited NY from Australia for my friends wedding. I found a dress on Washington Ave perfect for it but it was ripped under the arm and the last one left. It looked too good to pass so I bought it and went to the nearby Walgreens for a needle and thread. I googled nearby Alteration shops and this popped up. instead of trying myself, I made my way though blocks and alleys to find this address, went up to level 6 and knocked on the door. The sweetest man answered and I asked if he could help. He took the dress and quickly matched the thread to the dress with a perfect color match. Within 2 minutes he had sown my dress and the tear was gone with the seams nice and tight. As a kind gesture, instead of charging me he suggested I try it on. I did my cat walk for him in the little store and it was the perfect fit. I packed up the dress and headed out, waving goodbye to him after he created one of my most unforgettable memories in NYC!

Nicest, most professional and talented tailor.I found this place because I was getting engaged and needed to find someone who would tailor a dress for me in two short days. I called and asked if it was possible and without hesitation he agreed. He had taken a jacket and made it into sleeves for this dress. The lines were clean and neat and his finishings were very professional. I got so many compliments. So I came back again and again for close to 3 years!! My mother, my mother in law, my close friends-- I sent them all here and everyone was thrilled. He is friendly and sweet and hardworking! He recently took a very intricate lace floral gown and totally redid it to my liking. He is very talented and quick. Always has my dresses on time and within a short period of time. I live 30 minutes away but I always make the trek for his work.I am moving out of state and know I wont find anyone who will compare.

Brought in a long dress with serious gapping on the sides and Rahman did an outstanding job. He was friendly, timely and did exactly as I had asked with the alterations - it now fits perfectly and you cannot see that work as done. Will definitely return in the future.

I needed the sides taken in and the straps shortened on a dress for a wedding. Rahman was meticulous and had my dress ready right on time. When I came to pick it up I could tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. I can’t imaine why anyone would give him a negative review. If you plan your time well and get your alterations done two weeks before the event you will be fine. Rahman’s work is amazing and fairly priced.

Ask me if I can recommend a tailor, and Ill tell you I got a guy. Mr. Rahman has been doing my tailoring for over 4 years now. Not only is he highly skilled, but his goal is that I leave the shop completely satisfied. If that means making the hem a little longer, adjusting the darts in my shirts, or loosening the waist after I try it on, hes happy to do it. The prices are fair and the work is done quickly. Mr. Rahman was the tailor here before he purchased the business from the previous owner, and I couldnt be happier for him.
