I prepaid 412$ for a midsize car. I arrive two hours before my pickup time. They offer me small SUV my car is not ready. I know I will pay extra dollars per day. The difference between midsize to small SUV. When I drop the car I got extra charged of 409$. TOTAL Bill 818$ instead of 412$ because I took the replacement car that they offer me! Im done with BUDGET

Surprisingly my review is opposite to those with bad experience here. I rented a car at this location twice now and had beyond great experience. Each car was checked for the damages ahead of the trip correctly, I was lucky to get upgrades both times, tolls were calculated correctly and I only had to wait 30-40 mins once cause it was a holiday and many people wanted cars around the same time, its Manhattan, I cant blame them. So Ill be back here.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE- they don’t care!2 occasions:1. I came before 3pm, they were shut. They offered no help when I called. When I tried a refund they refused to believe us, still waiting for our ‘partial’ refund, 2 months later.2. Reserved a 7-seater, when I turned up they didn’t have the car! Their excuse ‘well if its reserved within 24 hours we don’t guarantee the car’! What!? Why do they allow you to reserve a car! Do not rent from Budget Car Rental, they hire crooks. I rented a car on line and, unfortunately, prepaid it and when I went to pick up the car the office was close. Let me tell you, I was supposed to pick up the car on 9th St and 2nd Ave in NYC, at 3pm. I got there 10 minutes earlier and the office was closed. I thought the person had gone for a drink or bathroom break so I waited. When 3pm was due I looked around and decided to go into the adjacent parking lot. The man who works there was busy with a customer, I assume, when the customer left I asked him if he knew qhere the rental person from Budget was and he was very rude and told me, she closes at 3pm. I told him no she does not because I was here 10 minutes before and the office was already close. He said well is 10 after three and I told him, yes I was waiting for you to finish with the person who just left. He said to me they close at three and turned around and left.. I dialed the Budged number that they have on the web and that number keeps looping and not going anywhere. I tried choices 1, 2. 3, and 4 and kept going back to asked me to choose one of the 4 numbers. They are thieves. They knew I had prepaid the car and left earlier on purpose. They not only stole my money but ruined my plans. Do not rent from these people. There are crooks.

I had to wait 45 minutes before getting my car. The car was not properly cleaned as I was given a car that was returned 15 minutes before I received it. Not to mention, none of the staff (in the office or handling the cars) was adhering to COVID guidelines of masks.Paid so much for terrible service. I will be signing up for Zipcar after this experience.The only pro was I was provided with a car seat so that was convenient.

I’m reading the negative reviews and I’m shocked, as my customer service experience with the Budget on 9th street was amazing. I picked up a car yesterday and Angel, the supervisor, could not have been nicer. He took extra steps to sanitize the car. More so, he went to great lengths to explain how everything works and personally set up my navigation. In all my years renting a car, I never had such attentive service.

Worst experience I have ever had. Lady with long blonde hair was the rudest car rental person I have ever felt with in my life, and I have rented a lot!!! I told her that I would be willing to pay a little more for an upgrade depending on the car and price. I asked her to let me know. She tells me she has a pathfinder for $50 extra. Then she hands me a print out for almost double my original rental. I ask her why this isn’t just $50 more. She says oh I can’t do that. Oh you must have heard wrong because of my mask!!!! Wow. Ok. So I proceed to call customer service and Ashley who answers customer services says she can’t do anything she is “just a worker”. I walk back in cancel my reservation after being told there would be no cancellation fee. We’ll see if that holds true. I book a reservation down the street AT SISTER COMPANY AVIS for same price and half of the extra price for an upgrade and a much nice car (4 runner). Stay away. Go to Avis!!

I’ve never had a parole officer, but every encounter I’ve had with Budget makes me feel like I’m there because I *have* to be, not because I want to be. I stopped using them for ten years, but I’ve used them twice in the last two months because they had the vehicles I wanted where I wanted at the best price. But customer service is so awful at all three sites I’ve used that I’ll pay more to rent elsewhere.The review that follows is specific to the E 9th St location in Manhattan. I reserved an Economy car and was told when I got there that all they had were SUVs. Not worried, I thought they’d give me a complimentary upgrade and send me on my way, as every other rental counter has done in the same circumstance in the last 30 years. I said that’s ok, and the agent said no, I had to wait 45 minutes until my Economy car arrived. She then told me that Budget doesn’t give free upgrades and I told her she was making the unavailability of the car I reserved my problem, and while I preferred a small car, I would accept the SUV at the same price. It was very unpleasant being lectured to about their rules (parole officer tone) when they didn’t fulfill their end of the deal. Finally, she agreed to send me off in an SUV for the price of an Economy, but the fuel was only 5/8 full, making refueling before return a two person job. Furthermore, the car smelled of cigarettes and had crumbs all over the seat and floor. I seriously doubt if any interior surfaces had been disinfected.

Must be the slowest car rental place ever... it’s like from the stone ages why are they even using computers... they never have a car ready and always blame it on the poor person in the parking lot we only have one person. Like if you have reservations have the paperwork and cars ready it’s not that hard.. and all these printouts than realizing car isn’t ready than they have to look for another car. Lastly just apologize to the customer instead of arguing because if your not slow no one would complain to begin with

Made a reservation at 9:30. My friend and I went to the office and waited for 40-50 minutes to be helped. The staff was nice but they are slow. At first he told me they dont have the car we reserved, so he will give me an upgrade to larger car. He said Ill do it for you which I supposed is complimentary since its not our fault to not have the same class of car as we reserved. So, I checked the agreement and was OK theres no extra charge on it.When we return the car and found out theres extra charge on my card. The funny thing is when I returned it, the staff there didnt mention anything about the extra charge and didnt ask me to sign the agreement. Days after I found theres charge for upgrade. smhIf you want random hidden charge or surprise, go with Budget.

Well i have rented numerous times and this past time now i rented a vehickefor a day and alhad an unexpected emergency which caused me to not be able to return the car with in the 24hrs. I called Budget to explain and see if i could maybe get a discount on the price received but he was just rude. Went to the budget in person on 220 east 9th st ny ny and the customer service experience is probably better at dept of moto vehicles. Just very disappointed and i will not be renting from them again!

I tried to use Budget for years but the employees are awful. Completely unprofessional. They dont know the rules for coupons and they will say anything. One time someone took a car on a joy ride and went through a toll and I was charged for it. I reserve a full size for a road long road trip and the only thing available is a gas-guzzling 4x4 jeep. I can’t say enough horrible things about Budget and if I hadn’t earned some $50 off coupons that I wanted to use I would have stopped renting from Budget years ago. Lucky for me, the coupons are used now so I’m no longer a Budget customer.

When I went to pick up the rental Friday, I had a 3 pm appointment, however no one told me that I would have to get there at 2:30pm to pick up my car. By the way I was there at 2:50pm.There were employees in the rental place that locked the door and turned the lights off, and they told us the system had shut down, NOT that they were closed for the day. Also they were extremely rude and not helpful.So not only were they ignoring their customers that HAD APPOINTMENTS, but They lied to us. This is unacceptable, seeing as I had to leave work early JUST TO MAKE THIS APPOINTMENT TO FIND THEYRE CLOSED!When I called customer service, they told me I would get $40 off a $770 rental. THATS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE as well as insulting!I am completely unsatisfied, and if I do not get reimbursed for something I will not rent with Budget againAt the end of the day, I had to go ALL THE WAY OUT to Laguardia Airport with all my luggage and dog just to stand outside in 90 degree heat. THE PURPOSE IF GOING TO 9TH STREET WAS TO AVOID THAT!This is totally unacceptable, and if customers are able to make appointments at closing time, MAYBE someone should let people know they have to be there at 2:30!

Terrible service. I was charged over $580 for 2 days of rental on a basic Chrysler mini van.The female did not explain or tell me anything about the Toll and transponder. I called customer service and I was told I should have known the process. I was told to stop by any Budget location and they are the only ones can activate my transponder.I stopped in New Hampshire and this nice lady at the Budget location told me I can set it myself and showed me how to do it.I clearly got ripped off by this branch in New York.

Inflexible on policies during a global pandemic. Staff are lazy, uninterested & unhelpful at the counter. Also at head office. Alamo has a global pandemic flexible policy, we returned and rented for the next month through them. A much easier & more understanding company. Do not recommend budget.

Ive had two big problems here. This is where the problem is.1. When I arrived on the homepage and paid in advance, the manager asked for a lot of autographs when I arrived. The receipt is very small and has a lot of letters. I signed because I wasnt good at English and didnt look good. When I returned it, the manager asked me for an additional fee. I didnt hear anything from my manager here. Eventually they filled and returned the gas and paid an extra $ 80 for gas options.2. The second time the car was received, the gas was not full. I ask the manager and I will fill it up at the gas station. Then I asked how much time it took, but it was unknown. I cant change the time, so I have no choice but to come. My girlfriend and I rented a car to drive upstate on Sunday March 22nd, there was a girl a the front desk very rude and unhelpful who quoted us $300 for a car which we saw online for $180 but fine we wanted to go and didn’t want to wait for the online reservation. We dropped off the car the next day at 11am with a full tank of gas, we went out of our way to make sure it was full and they still ended up charging us $530 dollars and they didn’t even say why or that it would be that final price when we left the location we dropped it off at. No one came to get the car keys and no one gave us a final receipt. We are currently calling her credit card company and Asking for a receipt which they say takes 5 hours to process for a single email!... my girlfriend also doesn’t use her credit card often I usually use mine but the very next day someone tried using her credit card info for a fraudulent charge! We will report this to the better business bureau. It’s sad that during a time of crisis and pandemic they are gouging their customers. Shame on you! We will never use your service again!

Taking out the car went smooth,2 days after picking up I came back for a miner update on the rental agreement (the mileage was by mistake wrong) and wanted to exchange the car, the lady by the counter her name is ‘Tammie’ was so helpful! She update it for me and exchanged the car for me, everything with a bright smile on her face!Costumer service at it best!Would recommend everyone using this location from my experience its fast, friendly and wonderful costumer service!5 Star Plus!

My girlfriend and I rented a car for the long weekend. My girlfriend booked the rental online with her card and we picked the car up together. When picking it up, they asked if I would be driving the vehicle, to which I responded yes. They then asked for my drivers license and credit card - no problem.When handing over my card, I made a point to ask / make sure that my card was not going to be used as the charge card for the rental, that the rental should be charged under my girlfriend’s card, with which she reserved the vehicle. The counter staff assured me that my card was only collected for “security” and would not be charged for the rental.Today, I returned the vehicle as my girlfriend has a long hospital shift. Just to be safe, she gave me her card to take with to the return. Checking out, I was given a receipt for the rental but became aware that my card was the one charged for the full rental price. I confronted the staff member at the desk, asking why my card was charged (the staff member was the same one who we worked with when renting the car on Friday).She informed me that because I was the primary driver, that my card had to be charged. I pushed back, pointing out: 1) The rental was booked under my girlfriend’s card and she was present at pick up; and 2) I was told that my card was only for security and would not be charged.She informed me that because my girlfriend was not there, they could not charge her card - despite them already having her card information, signature, and documentation from when we picked up the car on Friday.Mildly upset, I told the staff member to not tell customers that they’re cards are not going to be charged if, in fact, they’re going to be charged in full for the rental. I proceeded to ask that if my girlfriend and I returned after her shift at the hospital if we could switch the payment method. I was told that they could not. Inquiring as to why they wouldn’t be able to, I was provided an unsatisfactory answer about how “the system won’t let it happen.”I was willing to look past the fact that on Friday it took an hour of standing in a line of just 4 people to actually pick up the car - the car was nice and the location was convenient. But the slow service during pick up, the misinformation regarding payment methods, and the inflexibility to change payment methods even if we went out of our way to return to the rental after the car was already returned have made it necessary for me to share my negative experience.In the future, we will consider other options for a car rental.Edit: The receipt states that the method of payment was “cash.” Odd, considering that Budget policy states that cash is not accepted. Even more odd, considering that I didn’t pay with cash.

I waited almost 2 hours in line to finally be taken care off. Once it happened, they didn’t have any car available in the category I wanted (Hyundai Elantra or similar). They ended up giving me a Ford Focus (which seem seems to be the same category to me) and charged me extra 20 dollars for that. On my return, there were another line of ppl trying to rent their cars and since mine was just a return a Budget staff member just told me to leave the car there with all the papers inside. I did so and until now I haven’t received the confirmation that my contract was finalized.

He told me the charge was a security hold and I would get it back upon return of the car. I returned the car, the girl working was on her cell phone and wouldnt answer my questions. I pre-paid for a car in May. In the interim my credit card company sent me a new card. Same account, different card. I arrived early on a September morning to pick up my car for the weekend. The new card was rejected. I had the number to the old card. The woman representative took an attitude with me and told me to call Budget corporate. She refused to answer any of my questions, or help me in anyway. I called corporate, and explained the situation. Their only solution was to cancel my order and give me a new rental at full price of that day. I explained that the account was the same and I had the original card number. But since that card was no longer valid, my options were to either pay almost $250 more, or have no car at all, amounting to extortion. I explained to the man on the other end how this equals a shakedown. He was indifferent. So, I went to back to the counter agent, who processed my new rental. As we were finishing up, she said to me you know, I could have gotten you the original rate, if you had just not taken an attitude with me. I then asked if I could have that rate now, since she was now being so helpful, and she said, I already swiped your credit card through. I felt completely taken advantage of, as if I was dealing with a mafia racket instead of a car rental company. As for the agent, Ive seen better customer service from Hungarian Fascists, and a higher level of competence from misplaced cinder blocks that people have tripped over.

Would give 0 stars if possible. Car came out dirty on the interior and exterior. I was told they did not wash it because it was going to rain later in the day. I asked for another car and was told I would need to upgrade to an SUV for an additional charge. I said OK as I was in a rush and then the SUV was dirty - crumbs and sticky stains all over the interior and black marks on the white exterior. They took it back and cleaned it while I waited an additional 20 minutes. Finally left the lot after over an hour of waiting. Called customer service and was told I would receive a $40 credit (the upgrade cost $70) but they would not be able to provide that promise in writing and that I would just have to wait and see it appear on my credit card statement.

Budget took a hold on a car rental after returning the car. Also after fully paying for the car rental. Using a debit card they doubled the price; took over $1,200 for a hold. Spoke to many people about this and it doesn’t make sense. Would highly recommend NOT using budget car rental especially the one in jersey city, NYC.

Staff at this location were lovely. We had a little wait as the customers ahead of us were served, but once we were served everything was quick. We got the car we wanted (a mustang) and actually got a better one than we expected which was great. It takes some time for them to get the car from the garage, but that was fine. Drop off was easy and simple abd without any issues. It was a good experience all round really.

They did not have our car (no apology) so rather than offer us an upgrade like all other companies they said our only option was to pay another $100 or wait for a car to come back (they had no idea when one would be back).3. Someone at this location stole my identity and fraudulently rented a sports car using my drivers license and credit card information and charged me thousands of dollars for the rental while I was out of the country. Luckily my credit card company refused the charge. No one from the corporate office or this location ever got back to me to let me know how this happened. I will NEVER rent from this location or from Budget Rental again. Be careful before you give them access to any of your personal information.

If I could give Budget minus-stars I would. Budget not only sucks, they swallow. What kind of car rental service CLOSES in the middle of the afternoon on a weekend?? And then you have to pay an extra days fees unless you drive to another location that, if youre lucky, MIGHT be open. We were told at Budgets Atlantic City Airport desk that there would be a $100. drop-off fee to drop the care off in NYC. Yet somehow in the 2-hour drive back to NY that fee changed to $200!! And there is no arguing with the idiots behind the counter. I asked one counter person to explain some of those weirdly named fees and extra charges on the bill and with a straight face he replied: I dont know. ...Truly a frightening experience. When people around the world trash New York City and New Yorkers, it is because of experiences like you get at Budget. I believe they know they can get away with whatever they want because they are in NYC, so they do. ....They dont have to care and they dont. ...They know they can rip you off, so they do.Avoid Budget like poison.

Had a reservation a month in advance, when I arrived i waited for the location to open which they did on time, and i was treated nicely, the lady and lot attendants were very professional and treates us well, we were in and out with no issues, we declined any additional coverage since our credit card covers rentals and was not given a hard with that whatsoever! I would definitely rent again from this location, lastly the vehicle was exactly what we ordered and brand new with less than 700 miles on the odometer.

We always have a friendly exchange and i find myself in a better car than i ordered about half the time.The guys in the garage are always really friendly and always walk me through the ins and outs of how to open the gas tank and where all the special features are in each car. If everythings 100% in order, itll still take at least 20 min to get your car (regardless of Fast Break, etc.), but there is without fail a huge line or some issue, e.g. system down, card wont read, previous reservation hasnt been returned, low fuel in car, etc.Some staff are kind, but Ive had the most awful customer service (or just human-to-human interactions) trying to get my car here, including an incident where at exactly closing time (noon on Saturday), the rep told us in line we arrived too late and would call the cops if we did not leave, then called security to escort us out.Ive also been refused my car because I didnt bring the same card used to make the reservation. Any other rep or company would offer to use a different card, but the rep claimed it was impossible which seems unlikely. Either way, either the rep was awful or Budget is awful.Now I only use Budget, especially this office, as a last resort. There are great Alamo & National offices nearby. Even if the price is higher, pay to avoid Budget. Totally worth it to avoid ruining your trip, being refused your car, or worse, being threatened with the cops for waiting in line a minute beyond closing time.

I didn’t break rules, returned on time and refill the gasoline to the same position when I picked up the car, but they charged me extra $94 dollars without any reason, they only said I have to refill the gasoline to the full tank, actually, the dashboard only showed half tank when I picked up the car, so I refill to half tank before I returned the car. BUDGET CAR RENTAL is the worst rental company I’ve ever met. If I knew I have to spent $200 dollars to rent a car for one day, I would definitely not choose your company. All the excuse is ridiculous. Only SUCK can describe your company. Also, I hope the people who want to rent the car in the BUDGET won’t be fooled by this company in the future. BE AWARE. They´ll charge you for using the ezPass even if you don´t use it.Cars come with the ezpass enclosed in a box in the windshield. According to the instructions you need to open in order to make it work. They charge you $4 for each day you use it.The problem is that even if you keep it closed you´ll get a charge in your credit card after a few days.I paid all the tolls in cash and then I got the charge in my card.

Do not rent your car from this location. Not one person here cares about doing their job even remotely correctly, and they will attempt to con more money out of you through sheer stupidity and laziness.They messed up a one way reservation we had booked months in advance and tried to tell us the only solution was to cancel the reservation the day of and rebook it, doubling the price. After multiple calls to corporate, customer service, and other budget locations we discovered that this location had the ability to fix the mistake with no extra charge to us. Except that the location closed the ticket/account making it impossible for anyone else to help us.Then after the trip, upon returning a different car we called two minutes before closing saying We are so close, we can literally see your location, can you please stay open one more minute. Other budget locations with amazing people have stayed open for us in the past in situations like this. They said No, we close at eleven. and then hung up on us. We were two minutes late to closing. But that was fine, we didnt need to turn the car in until the next morning anyways.Except that when we returned the car the next morning, they told us We need to charge you an extra hour. You picked up the car in central standard time and are returning it in eastern. So youre an hour late. Nine A.M. in eastern is 8 A.M. in central.... we were technically two hours early. Not only that, I have never heard of turn in times being reliant on the time zone of the location you picked the car up in. She told us she fixed it, we examined the total and it was what we prepaid. We later found out an extra hour had been added to the prepaid amount when we picked up the car originally. She had noticed this, told us about the extra hour charge, listened to us for why that charge didnt apply, typed on her computer, and then told us she fixed it without actually doing a damn thing about it.All in all, because of this locations exceptionally terrible customer service, we were charged about $800 more than estimated on multiple times and cons. Save yourself the trouble and use a different budget rental or another rental agency all together. If not, expect to be serviced by bored, unqualified staff that would provide inadequate and uncaring service even by fast food standards.

It was an old basic Mazda 6 with uncomfortable seats. The cars windshield was not clean. The morning reception was not nice and welcoming. Cars front right seat back was fixed and uncomfortable. The price for each gallon of gas is too high ($10) and I had to fill the tank in a very bad traffic jam when I was returning. I didnt feel very comfortable with my trip as I was always stressed to bring the car back as she mentioned in the morning. I will never do that again!

I had the worst car rental experience of my life.They gave me a car without registration even i said them that i will use that car for my road test. I wish the guy was doing his job properly rather then trying to sell me more worthless insurance even i bought online ldw.Returning was worser. There were 2 woman trying to charge 9 dollars in the name of insurance again, which i already paid online. Absolutely awful! I showed up at 1 for a noon reservation, that I pre-paid for, and they gave away my car! I asked them what was the point of me paying for a reservation and the guy at the desk just kept insisting this is Manhattan, we do things differently here despite absolutely no prior notification that my car would be given away, they just decide they want to do things differently.When I asked about another car, they said that I would have to wait until someone drops one off. When I asked how long, they just said soon over and over, - when directly asked, they flatly would not provide a time estimate. They made me wait over an hour for another one. They would not even provide me an upgrade car, despite one sitting in the garage. In fact, they flatly lied to my face and said there were no cars in the garage.I finally got a car two full hours after my reservation time, which caused me to be late for the event I needed the car for. On drop-off, there was no one in the garage, I go inside, they send me back out, then they send me back in, to send me back out. This location is an absolute mess, no one there cared in the least or even tried to resolve anything.

It’s a bit crazy at this location. They upcharge you if you’re a bit late and your car is no longer available. They also insist that you should call them if you’re going to be late, but then they’re not available on the phone. This is a review specifically for this Budget location. Never renting from here again. We waited 45 minutes just to pick up a reserved car. There’s one attendant working with no sense of urgency and the line backed up to 10 people waiting in a small office with no AC. The attendant offered no reason for the wait while everyone in the room got more impatient - I don’t know what the culprit of the problem is but the inefficiency is unbelievable .

Very poor experience, bad service and very bad value. On pickup they did not honor a reservation and ended up tacking on extra insurance. When I realized, they then said they couldn’t fix it and would have to ‘void the contract’. At this point I had been sitting there for 25 minutes. On drop off they didn’t have any system for parking (on a busy ny street they need to do better) and it seemed no system for checking the cars. After drop off I asked for a receipt and they were unhelpful ... I had to stand there and insist. All around terrible experience. Never again at this location.

Just checked my credit card bill to see I was charged $100.00 extra dollars than what is on the bill they gave me when I received the car. Interesting enough I was told their system was down when I returned the car and was told that they would email me the bill which of course never happened. That was three days ago! Called to find out why I was charged extra and they are not answering the phone even though they are supposed to be open for another 2 hours. The national office is closed. I received a car with damage on the back wheel barrel and was accused of causing the damage when I returned the car, on time, with a full tank of gas. I rent cars frequently and will NEVER rent from Budget or this location again. Horrible, sketchy service!!

I rented a car for 4 days that was supposed to be $390+tolls. It was my birthday. The girl at the desk said she would get me something really nice. Not that I mind, but it was the oldest car Ive ever rented by many years, a trash Nissan circa 2012, not something I thought was still in rotation, certainly not birthday worthy but whatever. The charging ports didnt work but whatever. The car had issues accelerating but whatever. I returned the car two hours early, vacuumed twice during the trip (my friend cleans rental cars, just trying to be empathetic) and, before jumping in an Uber, asked if they needed me to sign anything. They said no. Then my credit card was charged for just about $800. Ive been trying to resolve this for 4 weeks. They claim there was smoke damage and excessive pet hair. I dont smoke at all, no Juul, nothing. Also, unlike other car companies (thus the second star), they do allow pets in the vehicle but charge for excessive hair. My dog has been in Ubers longer than he was in that car (I did cover the seat with a sheet) and Ive never received any charge in my life from any ride share service or car rental for pet damages. They claim they have proof, which I have requested 3x. At Fox Rentals (@jfk), they video the interior and exterior of the vehicle with an iPad before and after. You can access it anytime. I guess Budget doesnt possess such technology. Deflee never ever renting from them again. Ever.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I would never use this place again and would also warn anyone considering using this place to find another location to rent from.Heres what happened: I had purchased a car rental voucher through an external site and brought the voucher to this Budget rental to pick up the car. The driver had booked the rental under her name and license details, however I as the passenger was paying for the trip- so used my credit card to pay. This was the issue. The supervisor- Maria, said that it is Budget policy that the person paying must have a license to avoid credit card fraud. I did not have a license but had a state ID I said I could show to prove it was my credit card. She started telling me that the voucher I had already paid for would not be valid and that I would have to re-book the car- at a price over 3 times what I had already paid.From this point on, Maria put up a wall and refused to even consider helping us resolve this issue- she let her horrible attitude and pride got in the way of her customer service.For example, there was a point where we had the car voucher company on the phone trying to make a suggestion regarding a way this issue could be resolved. We needed Maria to try to enter the voucher number on to her computer and check some information that should have appeared on the screen. Instead of doing this for us, Maria started getting defensive and refused to help. She kept saying Im not going to do it. I refuse to do it. We actually had to plead with her to just try this one last thing to see if it worked. Again she said Im not doing it.. Youre calling me a liar!. You asking me to do this is you calling me a liar!!! SO basically her pride got in the way of her resolving this issue and we ended up leaving and finding another car rental place.to summarize a horrendously frustrating 2.5 hour experience, I will say with no exaggeration that this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 6 years living in NYC- Maria particularly was prideful and rude and unhelpful.

In 20 years of renting cars, this was one of the worst experiences. It was worse than locations in 3rd world countries. They dont have ability to do drop offs after they close and the close at 3pm on Saturdays (?). I booked a full size car, they offered me a smaller VW (at same price) and said it would take 30 mins to get out full sized car from the garage. Terrible operation. I assume that they have issues because of limited space in the garage but other NYC car rentals locations operate more smoothly and I found the staff not helpful at this Budget location.

I advice to not rent in this location. The vehicle got a ticket while not in possession, while I was waiting for the car, and they promised to take care of this ticket. I waited in the location for over an hour to make sure the notice in the system. 3 months later I got charged on my credit card with the violation. 🤬. I’m already three hours on the phone with multiple departments to get it sort out, it is worse than ConEdison. Don’t deal with them.
