Ive been coming to Ruben for 5 years, and at this point I cant imagine finding anyone who could give me a better haircut. Or anyone who takes the needs of his customers more seriously. East Village Barbershop is hands down my favorite barbershop in NYC! Ruben, the owner, is the most charismatic (not to mention talented) barber I’ve encountered so far. Ive been coming to Rubens shop for over two years and his barbershop is the best in town! I no longer live in the East Village, having moved to Hamilton Heights recently, but I always make a point to come here to get my haircut. They offer a free beer with your haircut, great hair wash with scalp massage service. If you want to get your haircut, have a few laughs with the friendly staff and customers, this is the place to come!

Haircut was decent but felt really uncomfortable with the lack of professionalism surrounding the pandemic. The barbers mask didn’t fit well and wasn’t over his mouth and nose the whole time. On several occasions he took mine off to get to tough areas. Overall not a comfortable experience.

Never been to a barber shop that gives you a “shave” with an electric razor. No blades to be found in this place. Then again after experiencing their touch with a set of trimmers I’m glad they didn’t have a razor...

My experience at east village has always been exceptional. It took me almost four months to find a good barbershop on the area and now I send all my friends here. The lively atmosphere and friendliness of the staff is bar none. Reuben the owner prides himself on his amazing work and holds his team to the same standard. Nothing wrong with haircut, it just ended up overpriced – I thought I was having a regular hair cut, but ended up paying for a fade and beard trim (I had asked the barber to check the beard line, which he did without saying it would cost ten bucks extra). Maybe I’ve just been lucky with other barbers in the past.

Needed a new barber and found this place on yelp. Five stars is not enough. They treat you well with a nice cold beer while you wait. Hair washes are not just hair washes, its a full on scalp and shoulder massage. Thats before even getting to the haircut. Never been disappointed with their work. I found this place while walking a couple English bulldogs down the block. Ruben, the owner, stopped me immediately to ask about the dogs. We casualty chatted for a bit and I quickly noticed that he and this place are super laid back. Ruben loves his customers and every time Im here, its obvious they love him back.Ive had my hair cut by 4 different barbers now. All experiences have been excellent. Theres an unusual paradox that occurs when I get my hair cut here. Normally, my hair cuts look good for about three weeks. Then they lose their shape/form. The cuts I get here keep their form for over 1 month. Which means I dont have to get my haircut as often. So they lose business because their cuts are so good and last so long (just kidding, they stay busy). Definitely recommend these guys.PS: they give you a free Corona every time you walk in.

Ruben is absolutely fantastic. First off,his devotion and love for what he does show each time that I see him;this is true not only for myself, but for all his clients. In terms of the actual haircut, all I can say is that when I leave from his chair, the haircut is flawless and amazing ; the same holds true for my beard.
