Picked up a 10-day rental from Missoula and on day four a deer jumped in front of our car -thankfully we were all fine but the car was destroyed. We were on our way to Glacier NP and several hours away from Missoula, we had no idea how we were going to manage the situation. Luckily the crew in Missoula went above and beyond! They went to considerable trouble to secure a replacement vehicle for us in the Great Falls location, despite it being late afternoon on a busy Sunday. Everyone at Hertz was patient and professional, and I cant thank them enough for their assistance during a very stressful time.

Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars I would. My friend rented us an SUV for a couple days to check out the area. Due to availability... the airline had us flying into Missoula and leaving from Glacier International in Kalispell. Hertz would not accommodate a one way rental under any circumstances. Furthermore the front desk staff was EXTREMELY rude on check-in for absolutely no reason at all. We even greeted the individual with a good morning and got no response followed by a Youll get whatever vehicle I give you when we simply stated we were flexible with vehicle assignment. I honestly cant recall an interaction where Ive been treated so poorly as the customer. If you dont want to work here, and are willing to treat people so rudely, then quit. Its that simple. Never renting here again, and I encourage you rent elsewhere as well.

My preferred company for car rentals is usually Hertz, and I rent cars often around the country. This has been the worst experience so far. I landed at around 9:30 PM in Missoula and the woman at the counter didnt want to rent me a car (which I had reserved and pay for weeks in advance) because I had an international drivers license and she claimed that international drivers have been stealing rental cars recently. Her accusations were shocking and I hope Hertz does a better job hiring people that are professional and live up to the values of the company. If she were my employee I would have fired her long time ago.

The car they gave me smelled like smoke and it broke down after one use and had to be towed.After spending a total of ten hours navigating their call centers, I was told that according to their policy, they could not give me a refund because the customer is liable for the first five days regardless of the state of the vehicle.I can’t believe they are still in business. To be clear, I really can’t believe they are still in business.

Probably my second worst rental car experience & I travel 200 days a year. Even during Covid, I’ve traveled almost 40 overnights. Got in late, the shuttle to the hotel was out of service and the Uber’s were unavailable. I went to the Hertz desk, the CSR was in the back office. I asked twice if there were cars available, she rudely remarked “$135 a day, SUV’s only.” It was as if she didn’t think I had the money. Even though it is highway robbery, I had to pay it. Since I don’t regularly use Hertz, I struggled a little to find my rewards account number. She was not patient. She just wanted to get me out of there. I eventually found the account number and got my keys. But in the world where customer service should be the top priority, I didn’t feel valued or important...at all.

Terrible service. Do not sign anything without looking at their contract. Had many hidden fees that were not explained upfront. Price was double what I had been quoted for my reservation. Very unprofessional way to do business. Avoid this car service.

I also had a bad customer service experience with the Missoula airport Hertz. We forgot a parking pass in the rental car, and when I called to ask if they could check, I was completely talked down to and ignored.The person on the phone said that all cars are thoroughly cleaned and that if any item was left in the car, it would have been reported. I asked if they could double check by looking behind the mirror -- I had to shove the pass behind it because it didnt fit easily. I put it there on the first day and never moved it.His response was to tell me that they didnt need to check because their process is very thorough. I asked if they could please just check again. I described how the pass would not be easy to see. His response was to repeat that they have a thorough process. He then raised his voice and said, I guarantee the pass in not in the car!Every time I tried to ask a question, he simply repeated how thorough their process is and that he guarantees it isnt in the car. The more I tried to have a conversation, the more he escalated the situation until I finally quit and hung up.I will be complaining to both the corporate office and to AAA because we rented the car through them.

I travel for work and am lucky to be able to book my rental car and hotel. I would not rent from any other company than Hertz. Kim the manager is beyond helpful and makes the process smooth. I feel many of the poor ratings come from people that don’t understand how rental cars work. Don’t be fooled by those reviews, this location is great at what they do!

I was lied to twice during my experience with Hertz Missoula. Both times I asked them to accommodate me appropriately for my replacement rental car through an insurance company that was paying for my rental because of a rear end accident. I live on a mountain dirt road and need 4 wheel drive in the wintertime to access my home. They lied to me first on the phone saying they didnt have 4 wheel drive vehicles, then when I inquired about the 30 4x4 vehicles in their lot they lied again in a scolding tone telling me they were all booked (they werent, a friend tried booking one and they gave him many options for immediate pickup) when I asked them why they would lie to me they gave me the answer that it is policy to only rent out sedans for replacement vehicles. I asked them if they didnt see that it was probably moral and correct to tell the customer the truth, which they sheepishly agreed to, but never apologized! I will never be taking my business there again, and Ill be telling my friends and business associates to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately this is one of the worst Hertz encounters I have experienced. They did not have my Optima ready as promised. I asked if I could switch to one of their chargers since they had 4 sitting on the lot and they were in the same class as my full size sedan rental class. They were reluctant at first but said they would give me one but with the extra cost of $5/day. I thought this was a bit obsurd since they told me they are on the same class but they refused to drop that extra fee because I booked my reservation at a good rate. I wouldnt recommend them at this airport.

Worst Rental experience. A bunch of racist ppl working here. I made a prepaid reservation for 2 months, I go there to pick up the car. The manager comes out and tells me they cannot honor my reservation bcoz of “error” pricing. I told her it’s not acceptable and not my fault. She tells me I can’t help you and went ahead and cancelled my reservation. Then she threatens me that I should leave and called security to escort me out. Clearly me being a brown skin doesn’t help. I’ll never rent from hertz again. I called customer service to express my frustration but they kept transferring me from one place to other. I wish I could give negative stars.

They have a 3 day policy on a oneway rental. I understand market pricing but can you say racketeering? New slogan should read “Hertz: Taking advantage of desperate people near you.” Plan ahead. Avoid.

If you plan on driving a vehicle from this location out of Missoula County I cant reccomend this Hertz location. This location is a franchise location and as a driver I recieved no help whatsoever from Hertz corporate due to receiving a vehicle from a franchisee. The vehicle I recieved had street rated tires. I attempted to exchange the vehicle out of state on my return to Montana to a vehicle with all season tires due to the extreme weather conditions on the way home. Hertz Missoula wanted $1300 to exchange the vehicle. The Hertz in Sacramento and Bend advised a charge of under $250.Rather than paying an extra $1300 I stayed in a hotel for an extra two days for the weather conditions to be suitable for the vehicle that was provided.The representative at the Missoula location, a woman named Montana, did everything she could and I appreciate her efforts. Her manager refused to reduce the fees.

If I could rate my experiences here in the negative I would. Customer Service here sucks. After renting vehicle for one day I came out to find a flat tire. After calling was informed to bring vehicle back. After returning it was told I would be charged to replace. Rep was very rude.

After my vehicle became disabled on a road trip on 2/15/2017 I called several car rental agencies to find a way home. Hertz at the Missoula airport was the only company that offered me a fair rate and didnt want to charge me an outrageous drop off fee since it was a one-way trip. The staff was helpful and friendly on the phone, took my name and number and said theyd have a car ready when I got there. It was ready when I arrived, they got me back on the road very quickly and emailed the receipt the next day. Great service, beautiful car and I will only rent from them in the future.

Hertz is the only place I rent from in Missoula! The manager, Kim, is super helpful and knowledgeable and has gone out of her way to get me the best deal whether Im renting for business or pleasure. Her staff is friendly and professional as well. Their cars are clean and new and fun to drive!

Super disappointed in customer experience at Kent, WA. Rental company on Washington Ave. Greeted with Im on lunch - twice. She complained about Hertz scheduling rentals during her lunch hour. She didnt believe that I had a reservation. When she found it, she complained about the Hertz software. After completing my rental, I thanked her for getting me set up on her lunch hour. She replied, Dont worry, Hertz is paying for it. If you choose Hertz, be sure NOT to pick this location.

Kim does it again! We just booked our annual fly fishing road trip of montana for the out of state family. Over the last 5 years weve rented 2-3 vehicles at a time and Kim and crew have always taken care of us. Easy access at the airport for pick up and drop off.

Had a reservation with Enterprise but they would not rent a car out if I paid with a debit card. Hertz took care of me for about the same price and worked around the card issue, because not everyone uses credit cards day to day. Cant remember the ladys name JMD is on the receipt. Awesome service.

It was not cleared explained that when you pre pay for gas at the cheaper price that you are really paying to use the whole tank of gas. I used less than a 1/4 tank of gas and charged for an entire tank because I prepaid. Makes no sense and it was not explained that’s what you were getting. Horrible customer service.——-UPDATE- they audited my rental and did the right thing.

The car was clean but other than that they were a bust. We reserved a Jeep for our trip to Missoula and when we arrived we were told by the most discourteous staff that “a Subaru is a Jeep in Missoula”. Well being a Jeep owner as well as having had a Subaru I beg to differ, my wife being the ever present voice of reason smiled and we were on our way. Being 11:30At night there was not ample opportunity to praise the vehicle for defects (not being a Jeep was one of them in my book) and we failed to notice a windshield chip/crack that propagated over the next 2 days and now they want us to pay for it. Well hell will freeze over before that happens as well as renting from Hertz again.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ. Kim the manager is a lying, cheating, dishonest scammer.I rented my car from Hertz and returned it with no garbage, no interior or exterior damage. I made sure I left it in the best condition I could cause I didnt even want to be charge even $1 for any damage.Imagine my surprise when I got billed $250 for cleaning. They claimed that there was an odor from the car, that it was SO BAD it smelled like someone died in there and that they had to get it professionally cleaned. They also said that there was garbage left in the trunk and that they took pictures to prove it for me. I know I did not return the car in that state and wanted to see the pictures of the trunk. I gave them 24 hours to send me the pictures. After waiting a day and getting nothing, I called and told them I wanted to pictures ASAP in case they decide to plant evidence against me but Kim LAUGHED and told me they will get the pictures to me when they can. Keep in mind, she ALREADY SAID she took pictures before I called and wont show it to me and that they are going to take more pictures after it comes back from the body shop.Shady manager. I am trying to prove that I did not return the car in the condition they claim and they want to hold onto the car longer to take more pictures when they already said they have pictures to begin with?They made it super convenient to charge me a damage I cannot prove (the odor) when I am not near town. And when I want to see the physical proof of the mess that I apparently left, she says the charge is not actually from the mess but from the odor and that she will send the pictures after we send the car to the body shop and have it come back.DO NOT EVER RENT FROM HERTZ. THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND WILL ACCUSE YOU FOR FALSE DAMAGES.

This location put a $322.00 hold on my credit card for a $40 reservation that I CANCELLED in advance. Took several weeks and calls for the amount to be credited. The staff was friendly enough when I phoned but the experience will keep me from ever going back.

Unsafe vehicle! Scary experience!Oil light on at pick-up. Employee claims they just forgot to reset it.Loose gas cap warning came on with original full tank of gas still in.Tire pressure warning came on, pulled into nearest LesSchwab Tires Store, where they immediately found one front tire overinflated to 80psi with a hole in the sidewall ready to explode and the other front tire sitting at 15 psi with a nail in it.A call to the Missoula Airport Hertz desk ended with an extremely rude staff member saying that I must drive the unsafe car back to switch it for another car. I explained that the technician at LesSchwab Tires felt it was too dangerous to drive on the tire in that condition, but she insisted she would not send a car out to me saying “that’s not going to happen.”I asked to speak with her manager, who actually accused me of being responsible for the overinflated tire! I know that the nail in the other tire could have happened anywhere, anytime, and possibly during my driving, so I got that fixed for free, but I have no way of inflating a tire, which is obvious since I drove into the tire shop just to have pressure checked due to the warning light coming on.The manager lied and told me that the tire pressure is checked before anyone takes a car out, which could not possibly be the case here.She grudgingly said she would send a replacement car on a tow truck in a few hours, leaving me stranded right in the middle of my workday!How’s that for customer service?Do not trust the manager of this company or her employees. Beware!

I just received a bill for a broken windshield which needed to be replaced. The photo evidence was a photo of a cracked windshield that showed no indications this was even the same car I rented. The crack was so significant, there was no way I wouldnt have noticed the crack. I now have a $163 bill for something I did not do. Thanks Hertz

A prior reviewer said Kim the manager is a lying, cheating, dishonest scammer. This is 100% true as far as Im concerned. I was charged over $600 for a two day one way rental. I specifically booked a one way rental and the price quoted at booking was more like $200, which was in line with what sites like Hotwire were quoting. Kim refuses to change the charge. My advice is to avoid the Missoula Hertz like the plague. You will get scammed.

We just had a very unsatisfactory experience at the Missoula Airport Hertz. Started well....on arrival, the full size car we rented was not available, so a nice new SUV was offered as an “upgrade “. The car worked perfectly. But, due to dangerous icy driving conditions (ice storm between Helena and Missoula) we could not return to Missoula, and had to change flight to departure from Helena, and drop the car there. Hertz Missoula added a $250 drop off fee it’s. 100 miles away. I was given several explanations as to why, none of which made sense. Everything from that’s National Hertz policy, to we’re independently owned and set our own fees, to you took a more expensive car that we own, and it would not be this way with a standard fleet rental. I understand an drop off charge....but not one that is so obviously gouging the customer. When I spoke with Kim, the manager, she told me “she gave a break,” and actually could have charged me Considerably more! I spoke with other Hertz locations in Montana, and ALL that i spoke to could not believe that cost! Even the agent at Helena Hertz tried to reassure me that $250 was way too high, and would never be charged to me. The other reviews on this sight should serve as warning to everyone. I realize we are mostly using 3rd party sites to book cars now, but if at all possible, avoid Hertz at the Missoula airport. I have contacted the Missoula BBB and the Missoula downtown association and foundation as well.

I dropped a car at Hertz missoula airport on June 19th, 2016. I had rented the car in Bozeman. I asked for a receipt of drop-off and was told it would be forthcoming from Bozeman. I later called and requested the same and was told I would receive it from Bozeman. It is now July 3,2016 and I have yet to receive any confirmation that I dropped off the car or what my final charges are.
