I’ve been coming to this barbershop since it opened years ago. I normally see Savannah since she’s been my barber for almost 7 years, but anyone that they have working there I trust with my hair. They’re always polite, professional, clean and provide the best attention to detail in Utah. Being a barber is an art and they’re masters of their craft. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.

Really great haircut, appreciate the level of attention to detail and taking time to help describe how to style the cut. Pricier side but you get what you pay for.

When I first moved to SLC I really struggled to find a good barber that I felt was worth the money. Haircuts in SLC are steeper than were I am from, so I felt disappointed with a lot of the local offerings that I was trying out. Then I finally found Kraken and set an appointment, and was thrilled with the quality of the haircut. Savannah did a fantastic job, was fun to work with, and very fairly priced for how good of a job she did! Kraken has certainly earned my repeat business!

D at the Kraken has been my barber for the better part of a year now, and to say he doesnt kill it everytime would be a sin. He gives 30 minutes cuts but you come out cleaner than a babys bottom. He recently switched locations to a smaller studio, but all the same care is there.. if not more. It feels 1 on 1 and I appreciate that. I always have a good conversation with him and he always earns a 20% or above tip from me. This place is awesome!!

Ive been to a ton of barbershops in the valley and this one has been the best. D and his staff are great. Ive been going to Savanna for almost a year and wont go anywhere else. Great cuts and beard trims, highly recommend it. Not the cheapest of course but you get what you pay for and if you make an appointment they will always be ready when you come in which was real important to someone with a busy schedule.

My first time going to a barbershop and I was super nervous, I didnt have the vocabulary to say what I wanted and new experiences arent my favorite. But thankfully Oliver was super patient as I tried to explain what I wanted and gave me the perfect cut. Plus he is super friendly and easy to talk to. This is 100% my go to place and person for all future cuts!

Ive struggled for years to find a place that I can count on for a consistent and attractive haircut and Ive finally found it at kraken. No matter which barber I get I know to expect a high quality cut - all at an extremely reasonable price.The shop is clean and well maintained and if youre lucky youll get a visit from wolf, the shop mascot who happens to be the most mellow and well behaved husky Ive ever met.

Went in for my first time today for an appointment with Oliver. Absolutely fantastic visit. Great atmosphere, great service. Ill definitely be coming back again. Couldnt be more pleased with the result.

First time going to a legitimate barber. I would normally have a friend cut my hair or I would just go to the cheapest place I could find. Im glad I took the leap and came here; Savannah did an awesome job and was very friendly. And honestly, $30 for a haircut is not bad at ALL. Will definitely be back!

Call me old school, but barber shops should be a welcoming place in which people can just walk in. I used to drive clear across town to get my hair cut here, but now that I need to know my schedule weeks in advance, will probably go to a place that fits my very unpredictable life.

Best barbershop in Utah! Went in an hour before a job interview hoping to get a haircut and without an appointment or any heads up Oliver was able to squeeze me in and got me cleaned up and my beard lined up. I have been getting my hair cut here at Kraken for 3 years. D, the owner, is great and friendly and does an excellent job of cutting hair. His team of barbers is excellent also. I have had my hair by almost all of them at one point or another and they all are highly skilled. I highly recommend Kraken for getting a clean and precise cut.

After going to Great Clips, my hair was messed up. I decided right then I had enough of it! I needed to find a real barber shop! I friend of mine recommended this place which was only a block from where I lived. I got lucky and walked in and sat right down and got one of the best cuts in quite awhile. Perfect fade! Highly recommended! On a side note. They said they would be going to appointments only soon.

Im from out of town, came in for the first time the other day. D is the Owner and did a GREAT cut. Especially for his first cut on a new customer (usually takes a few times to get it just right). D is not only a skilled professional but a likeable guy with good people skills. Studio shop was small but clean with a good atmosphere. Makes Appointments simple with square. I had an appointment set for the time the shop opens and all the barbers were ready to cut. I sat right down and got a super awesome, fresh cut from Oliver. He’s such a nice, good guy and there’s no awkward small talk or silence between him and his clients. Oliver’s cut and conversation were definitely worth it!

Marijuana smell was so strong, highly unprofessional. I understand that people use marijuana but I also believe there is a time and place. I walked in with my son for his first official barbershop haircut and we were immediately choking on the smell and amount of smoke in the shop. Which was surprising because they had literally just opened. I would highly not recommend if you are looking for a decent and professional place. I wouldnt trust someone who was under the influence cutting my own hair, let alone, my childs hair. Definitely will not be back.

Savannah Birch great barber. I showed up with out an appointment as i was in town for work for few days. She took care of me even tho i had just finished smoking cigar outside the shop and smelled like one too. She took my hoodie i got a great trim on beard and tips on how not to ruin as i had it in a rubber band.Over all my experience was 5 out of 5.

I took my son in and Kyle cut his hair. He was amazing with him and did such a great job!!!! Since our last barber left town.. my son was so picky with his hair cuts. We had been to a few barbers.. and no luck. But after he had met Kyle, he said he liked his hair a lot and wanted to come back. So we have definitely been going back to Kyle! Highly recommended!!!!

I can see how many people may enjoy their time here. However, I didnt get a compatible barber. Waited 25 minutes for an appointment I reserved days in advance. I was asked several times for details of what I wanted, and I replied every time that it would be really helpful to see some examples, because I wasnt sure how to articulate exactly what I wanted. Never got any examples. I had to pull up an example of what I wanted on my phone and tried my best to show what it looked like from a couple different pictures.The hair cut did not look like how I wanted it at all. I also found a part of my hair that she had missed entirely. Not because it was supposed to be there, but I could tell that she was distracted and aloof the majority of the time or whenever I was trying to communicate something. Im disappointed. I dont have a whole lot of money, but I decided to save up for a while and treat myself on my first ever professional haircut.This place may be really good, but after my experience there, I think Im better off somewhere else.

Probably one of the best shave experiences Ive ever had! Next time I go I think Ill have him cut my hair in addition to a straight edge shave. Something about the straight edge experience is very classy and is something every man should do at least once. I highly recommend Kraken Barber Shop! Ive been getting a monthly haircut and beard trim here for about a year. I usually book with D, but due to my hectic schedule, I have occasionally had to schedule with one of the other barbers on a few hours’ notice.I appreciate that I can book online with D, typically only a few days out, and that there is a half hour blocked out in the schedule for me. I find great value in Kraken Barber Shop’s online booking system because I do not waste my time waiting in an endless que of walk-ins, and my barber can spend the time and energy designated for me in their schedule to give me a great result.Regardless of who cuts my hair, I have always left here very pleased with the consistent high-level of service I receive. I know that price can be subjective, but from my perspective, the service for the price is well worth it. Kraken Barber Shop is a great value.

My first visit was in December, and I’ve made it a point to make it in to see Savannah once a month since. Great haircut, shave, eyebrow, and mustache trim. As well as good conversation. Everyone in the shop is very friendly.

So far the best hair cut every time. I used to live a few minutes down the road from Kraken when they were in a image studios. Now they have their own shop with some great people cutting hair. I live in Rexburg Idaho and whenever my family decide to head down to salt lake and Im due for a cut, I will wait and get it cut here. Always a great experience.

D is a very easy going, genuine guy who gives great haircuts. I always enjoy talking to him and I have more faith in his abilities than any other barber Ive been to. Making an appointment is easy and convenient on his website. Ignore the two bad reviews from people who couldnt find the place or didnt make an appointment. Just take your first left and his room is the second from the end, on the left. Notice every other review is five stars!

As a walk in on a Saturday at 11am, they were able to take my husband in immediately. Compared to the few other barbershops we went to around this area, they did such an amazing job without charging an exorbitant amount of money. I think we found our regular barbershop.

Im not one to usually write reviews but Jacob at Kraken blew me away. The atmosphere, the quality, the conversation, never before have I been so impressed with a barber. He also gave me a straight razor shave, now I have never been able to or have gotten shaved without having at least 10 cuts, I have very sensitive skin. Jacob pulled it off without a nick, I was speechless.Hands down best barber ever, stop looking, this is it.

First off, Ill give you the short and sweet review: Kraken is great and I absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a precision haircut or shave. The barbers are young, friendly, and effective. They take pride in their craft, and I respect that.I have difficult cowlicks with wire straight hair, which forces me to choose my barbers and stylists selectively (Ive been through a few dozen professionals whom couldnt make the grade when it came to my deceptively unruly mop). At Kraken, I have never left the three of four chairs of the barbers Ive seen unhappy with the results.Did I mention Beowulf? Hes the shops mascot -- a handsome husky with a very mellow temperament. If you dislike or are allergic to dogs, set an appointment or do a walk-in in the afternoon when Beowulf goes home for the day. Hes a part timer; lazy bum!A few critiques do spring to mind, however. Nowhere is perfect, right? Some of the barbers are more thorough than others. Freddy G. will include cleaning up the edges around your forehead, trimming your eyebrows, and removing any hair growing in/around your ears in the cost of a regular cut. Id like to see everyone follow that example by default. A board listing all the barbers along with a photo and their regular hours could be a nice addition. The interior could be a little nicer with a more put-together layout would do a great deal for the feel of the shop. Lastly (that I can think of for now, anyway), carrying a wider range of styling products would be awesome. I dont think Kraken carries something similar to Fiber by American Crew, which gives a truly dry look. I dont generally ask for product after a cut because I am looking for that touchable matte finish and what they do have doesnt get close to it.None of the above are deal breakers by any means, but they would definitely help improve the experience. Kraken is my jam, and I suspect it will be yours as well once you pay them a visit.

Entire crew was very friendly and did not feel exclusive to a new customer. Kyle was my barber dude and he knocked it out of the park. Dude takes his time, is pleasant in conversation, and asks for a lot of feedback during the cut. Couldnt ask for a better experience. $25 bucks is on the steeper side, but for a quality cut - Its worth it.
