Since moving from NY a year ago I still travel back and forth due to not finding anyone to do my sew-in the way I would like. But as of today I will no longer be travelling back because Melessa slayed me! This sew-in looks like its growing out of my scalp. Melissa is very unprofessional! She makes her clients wait one to two hours and doesnt care about wasting their time. She also did a weave for my daughter which cost over $300.00. The next day it started to come out. When I called her about repairing it she made excuses as to why she couldnt meet me. I would strongly recommend NOT giving her your business. This is THEE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had in my life. The stylist was rough and when i say rough my eyes started watering at how hard she was tugging on my hair. I received a sew in. It was thin wasnt enough frame to my face. Very unprofessional to be on the phone while doing hair. Just yapp yapp yapp the whole entire time. Once I took the sew in out it was unrecognizable under that hair. Matted, knots of thread locked into my hair. Sew in method wasnt fluent.....it locked here and started there. I wouldnt recommend this place if the service and hair were free. BOOOOOOOOOOO! WASTE OF MONEY

I have been coming to Melessa’s salons in Delaware and Baltimore for 4 plus years now and every time I come she works her magic and I’m walking out with a fly hairdo. My weave or wig styles are sophisticated with just a little edge to keep it spicy. I even use her hair care line in between visits from the hair perfume to the shine mist, my hair looks good and stays fresh.

This was the nearest hair salon in New Castle where I could get a brazillian lace front so I went to visit it and ask for prices. It was very reasonable tbh. They keep it affordable and I know a few friends who have also gone for their weaves, so I was certain of the quality. I’d definitely recommend them.

Unreliable:I arrived today for a 930am appt. and Melessa wasnt there so I texted her. She called me back and told me that our appointment was not confirmed, even though the previous night we had a full exchange by text that ended with her saying c u in the a.m. at 930. Melessa then gave me more excuses and asked if I could come to her house for my services. Your house you say? Um, no, thank you. I drove 30 minutes and spent $8 in tolls at 930am on a Sunday morning for a salon experience, not for a kitchen sink shampoo.Unprofessional:Melessa has no respect for other peoples time. She consistently arrives 30-60 minutes late for our appointments. At one of my first sessions with her I waited almost 2 hours before being seen. From then on I would only see her on Sunday mornings and only as her first client. When Melessa is late or a no-show she does not take responsibility for her actions. Instead of saying, Im sorry that Im late she makes excuses, changes her story, and bends the truth. Its really ridiculous, unprofessional behavior.Unappreciative:I am a working professional. I know that a good stylist in DE is hard to find, and a good weave stylist is even harder to find. Because of that I paid Melessa very good money for her services. I was very patient and understanding despite her poor punctuality. I dealt with the fact that she didnt really care for my natural hair (no deep conditioning, no trimming, no adjusting your braids to manage tension), didnt use the best products, didnt always have clean towels, or never had any soap in the bathroom. I could accept all those things, but I cannot accept Melessas lack of value for me as a (good) paying customer. I went to Melessa for the first time in September. I have never had a sew in weave before so i had no idea what pricing or the process would be. When i got to the salon i waited for almost 45 minutes after my appointment before even being seen, when i was seen, i sat at the washing station for about 15 minutes while she made a personal phone call. After washing my hair i was sat under the dryer for 2 hours, my hair was shoulder length so surely this was overkill. Come to find out that while i was under the dryer, Melessa left the salon to go get dinner. I was alone with my boyfriend in her salon for 2 hours before she came back. When we started to begin the process, she asked if i wanted to dye my hair along with the hair she would be installing, thinking that this would be professional mixed color, i agreed to dye my hair. Melessa comes back with a box dye for my hair after i had told her how fragile my hair was and how damaged. I let it go thinking she knew what she was talking about. The night i got home, i was brushing my weave and a clump of my natural hair came out onto the brush due to the box color hair dye that was used. I was unbelievably aggravated. Not to mention that i was in the salon for 6 hours. My appointment was at 4 and i left the salon at 10:30 pm. I was charged 800 dollars for my 3 row partial weave. After going home and doing a little research, i had found 15+ salons who would do a partial 3 row weave for around 175 dollars plus cost of hair. She completely took advantage of my ignorance about weaves. I would NOT recommend this salon to anyone. Although Melessa was friendly, she lacked the ability to be professional.

I first visited Melessas salon in late 2008. Id had my first weave sewn in at another salon and was experiencing extreme itching. She helped treat my scalp and provided relief. My next two sew-in weave installs were done by Melessa in preparation for my May 2009 wedding. She does excellent work and Ive always been happy with the outcome.After several years, Ive recently began visiting Melessas salon again. Since Id last seen her Id relocated a couple of times and had done a lot of damage to my hair edges by wearing clip-on ponytails. With her help, I was able to identify the cause of my extreme scalp irritation. Apparently, I have a rare sensitivity to most weaving thread due to allergies. Previously, Id thought hair weaving was no longer an option for me, but Melessa provided several options including a practically thread-less technique she does. I decided to use the option of purchasing an alternative thread product, which I bought at a craft store. Now that she uses the other thread I have virtually no itching!!!!Melessas weaves are secure and flat to the head. I receive many compliments and people often assume its my natural hair. In 3 months my damaged hair has started to grow in thicker and fuller. The best part of my experience at Melessas salon is the environment. Its not hectic and crazy like other shops Ive visited. Melessa runs a professional establishment and I plan to be a customer for a long time to come.

DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER. I should have read all the reviews before scheduling an appointment. I missed the ones that were 1 star. Sometimes you can’t beleive what you read but believe this. Service was not good at the start of my appointment Melessa asked if I had cash which I was informed when we spoke when I made the appointment. Then we discussed the service which I was getting a weave but then she said she did not quote me the price over the phone to match the service. I was heated but was not willing to pay anymore because it was already too expensive but I continued on with the appt because I was leaving for a cruise in few days. This would be only my second time getting a weave and I told her this. She attempted to sell her craft and experience by stating she’s a stylist to the stars which I don’t care about that I don’t have stars money. I just wanted a good weave and know I was getting good hair. Well for me it was a nightmare and I’m still kicking myself for allowing her to do my hair and spending so much money and the hair sucks as well. I still have the hair weave which was just done the end of July I’m just trying to get some wear for all the money I dropped but I’m really close to removing it. Money down the drain. Bottom line I feel like I was robbed. I’ve had 2 other stylist tell me one the weave was way too tight and my scalp has sores and it was on fire. The other stylist said she did not have to charge the amount that she charged especially for the length 14 inch and 16 inch. I wanted to call her and let her know but I decided not to because I know she was not going to try to make it right and I didn’t want to get upset about it all over again. I’m getting pissed as I write this now.I would not recommend this shop for her service.

So I was Happy to find this place so my seven year old daughter can get her hair done. Let me just say my daughter has ADHD, Asthma, and is epileptic so with all the medications and symptoms she has its hard for her to sit still but she did Good being that the person braiding her hair named Zoe was taking forever. First of i asked for small braids and she did them big second I spent 95 dollars there plus gave Zoe a good tip. All to call to make a new appointment hoping this time would be better only for the owner Melissa to tell me that Zoe said she will never do my daughter hair again very rudely too. And not only that I paid all that money only to find out that Zoe had only been working there for three weeks and is a high school student that does not even have her license yet. Now I dont descriminate but they sure have descriminated on my 7yr old daughter that has many health issues.

I have never experienced such poor customer service from a business before in my life and from the owner at that. Saturday, may 14, I had gone in to inquire pricing for braids. Let me preface I had started going because I live in Dover and my boyfriend lives in Cecilton, whom I visit frequently. I was looking for an alternate salon away from Dover and the young lady in the first chair on right (my apologies for not remembering her name) was an absolute sweetheart. She ha helped me in the past. She directed me to whom i found out to be Melissas area (the owner). I will bullet this and put it in a nutshell.1. I asked her for pricing for the braids..by the time I left, still never got that info from her.2. I asked if she had time to do a quick wash, dry and straigten. Now keep in mind i had my weave in for almost 2 months. I told her this. She eventually said, come on, I will do it. I said ok great. Not thinking it was going to take 2.5 hours...YES ...2.5 HOURS for a wash. 20 min to half hour while she was on the phone the whole time and doing god only knows what. After she man-handled my head it was another almost 45 min to an hour under the dryer. She finally sat me down in the chair after her doing someone elses weave and still sat another 15-20 min while she checked out that person, and socialized and still on the phone. Even another customer saw me starting to get agitated. I told her i was now running out of time a very quick straighten was fine. She replied, Well that is all you are going to get, i dont have time, I have to be at my other salon Her tone of voice was very condescending and the fact I, me, was inconveniencing her. Keep in mind she CHOSE to do my hair. I was in the chair for every bit of 4-5 min, no more while she straightened my hair.3. Get to the counter and she spent another 5-10 min socializing and talking to other people. She then told me a price of $65, and of course my immediate response was, 65$? (in shock), FOR WHAT!??? That is when she started talking down to me, again as if I inconvenienced her. She proceeded to tell me that I did not have good quality hair, it was matted, which it was after she washed it, (if that is what you call washing)(she squirted shampoo in my hair, rubbed around the edges and left me sat, then rinsed out). Remember I had already told her how long it was in. She then told me that I was ungrateful for her doing my hair.If it were not for the children in earshot i would have said something more but even if not, two wrongs dont make a right. I was not going to stoop to her level by having a screaming match. She hardly let me get a word in. 2.5 hours later I finally walked out of there with nothing more than what I could have done at home for free. But I thought I was trying to do local business a favor and give them business but I can promise I will never set foot in there again. I feel sorry for the others that work there because its her attitude that takes business away from her stylists. Its a full circle. The salon was dirty as hell, children running around all over the place as much as I love children, they needed to be kept under control.Its a shame that people go into business like Melissa and they lose touch with the business sense, HOW to talk to people and KNOW when to not take on more than you can chew. I am a business owner myself and honestly she needs to go back for business 101. I have never seen an owner look as bad as she did. Even if she was not feeling good, try to do something with your own hair. When I first met her I would have NEVER in a million years though she was the owner. As an owner, you have to learn when to say no. Its not always about the ole might dollar. I would have been MORE appreciative by her telling me she did not have time because of whatever, instead she took me and she was rushed, then made me feel insignificant by trying to make me think I was cornering her to do it. SHAME ON YOU! Dear Business Owners: Word of mouth goes a long way, especially negative.

A very beautiful shop, friendly stylist that genuinely know how to do hair

A few months ago i went in as i heard great reviews on melessa and so being i am not from the area i wanted to try it out. I ended up getting the hair from her which i normally dont do as she told me it is AUTHENTIC INDIAN REMI and i later found out this isnt true at all. The day i got it done my hair was beautiful until...the next day. I called her because my hair felt hard as if it was synthetic or something was wrong an she fried my hair. She told me to get put some conditioner in it and i would be ok. In fact it wasnt i ended up going to my local beautician and she looked at it after washing and during the setting, she noticed my hair wasnt braided or sewn in correctly. First the braids were very close together, they were thick braids not small one as everyone Ive ever been to or know who does hair braids. She left parts of my hair out that was nice but it was too much left out than what shouldve been. As well i complained because it was itching so much it was driving me nuts! My beautician looked at me scalp and showed me in the mirror view that it was blood red. At that point in time i came home and said since now its clean i should be ok. that next week i brushed my hair after wrapping it over night and i had a huge beehive knot in the back of it! I actually popped my arm out of place trying my hardest to get it out. This was the last straw and so i called my mother to have her help me take this mess out of my head. As we took it out my hair was coming out and in parts, was sewn in to the thread (attached) I washed and deep conditioned my hair and it was needed after that beating it went through, only to find my hair was coming out in clumps!!! I will NEVER set foot in this shop, recommend anyone, or even consider having melessa touching my hair again! This was a complete horror show, that was a complete waste of my time and hard earned money!!!
