My super cute but admittedly naughty cat accidentally ate our dog’s medicine. We were worried that she may have gotten poisoned. Within minutes the vet was on the phone with us to explain treatment options and to detail potential complications that could arise. When we brought her in for treatment they immediately took her in the back to assess her vitals. I can’t say enough great things about this clinic. Their receptionists, vet tech and veterinarian were so responsive and just altogether wonderful. 10/10!

Dr Mouney (Opthalmologist) is caring and the staff is always so helpful. Brutus had an aggressive onset of glaucoma and uveitis, at a time my big guy was in so much pain and my husband and I sick with worry he was well cared for. Highly recommend

Dr.Meredith and the staff are super friendly made my 11 year dog who was severely sick and myself feel so comfortable not only gave me options financially. I have been to other vets where I felt like just another number, but everyone here understood my dog is my family and made me feel at ease that everything was going to be okay! Def recommend!

Im making this my regular veterinary clinic. All 3 of my dogs will be coming here in the future, as the care and compassion we were given on Saturday was just what I was looking for in a veterinarian. Dr. Meredith was kind, and addressed my immediate concern with Jake. I only wish I had thought to check them out sooner, rather than for an emergency.

Called the main hospital to get monthly flea medicine and a Stephanie answered the phone and had to be the worst and rudest person i have ever encountered there. I have uses Metairie Small animal for over 7 years and because of her attitude and lack of willingness to help I do believe I will find another vet. Every person I have ever encountered there was great and helpful but this Stephanie has changed my outlook on this place and will be sure not to refer any other friend there

I had to to take my shih tzu to the emergency clinic on a Saturday. He ended up having to have surgery. The staff was extremely helpful and compassionate, as were the doctors. I would recommend this hospital to anyone with furry friends!

My poor little kitten got very sick and I was able to get him in right away. They were very kind and generous and took great care of him. I was even able to bring him back the next day. I was unable to successfully administer his medication and they took care of that as well very quickly. Happy they were able to set my mind at ease at such a stressful time.

Dr Meredith Addison is an excellent veterinarian. She is professional, listens to your questions and has such a great personality such a sweetie she is. My 2 maltese only see her for their vet checkups. If you want an excellent veterinarian you should see her.

If you want a reliable vet, dont come here. The staff all seem to have been lobotomized. Their speciality is ignoring customers and their pets. If you are worried about your pets safety and care, find another vet.

My 9 year old pom, Gus, had urgent right removal surgery by another MD earlier this month. He was scheduled today to have the left eye removed. On 4/17/21, his left eye basically disintegrated and started bleeding badly. I contacted MSAH, told them the situation and was told to bring him in. I wasnt guaranteed that surgery was going to be performed, but it was. I couldnt have asked for better care from any MD--Dr. Megan, you are just wonderful. The staff loved my baby and said he is so sweet. The real him was just too scared to show it. Thank you all for taking care of my fur son. You all are the best!

We have been looking for a good vet since moving back to New Orleans, have been to a few, and left unhappy every time. Our dog was examined by Dr. Meredith, who was thorough and very kind. Then our dog got her laser treatment from Courtney, who was awesome with her, calmed her and did a great job keeping our dog comfortable. We will definitely be bringing our other two dogs here. Weve finally found our vet!!

I called this hospital’s 24/7 emergency line late at night because my older cat had started to decline fast and I was worried about her. I was shocked by how rude the woman who answered the phone was to me. She answered the phone saying “Is this an emergency” with audible attitude. I tried asking when would be the best time to make an appointment to put my sweet kitty down the next day, and she snapped at me saying she doesn’t handle appointments. While this was probably true, her attitude during the entire call was very abrasive and uncalled for, especially during such an already emotional moment as a pet owner. She interrupted my questions to shout the price for euthanasia at me, and I hung up and called another 24/7 vet. Take your business elsewhere if you would like to be treated with any amount of compassion.

I called on 2/24/21 at 9:35pm I spoke to a very attentive and responsive front desk receptionist. She explained the intake process and the Covid protocols that I should anticipate, Thank you for being reassuring and helpful.

We met a really nice vet here. She helped our dog a lot. Jelly GSD is not limping anymore, and she is happy again. You can see it in her eyes. Many Thanks!

This review is a bit late but we cannot say enough about Dr. Samantha and how much she went above and beyond for our little yorkie, Maverick. From returning phone calls after hours, to agreeing to see us at the main hospital for him (when she was only working at other locations that day), from seeing him within only hours notice, and trying new treatments/medicines. She could not have been more caring, kind, trustworthy, and just over-all amazing. We live on the NS now but still make the trip to see Dr. Samantha as she is our vet for life! Ps-Dr. Chris is super great too.

I dropped my puppy off recently to be fixed and was a nervous wreck about it. Our dogs stitches are absolutely perfect. Services are expensive, but worth it for such good quality work. Thank you Dr Joe and Krewe.

I recently experienced an emergency with my 15 year old toy poodle at 9pm on a Friday night. This was our second choice in emergency vet services as the first one would not let me or my husband enter the office due to COVID-19. My dog is like a child to me, there was no way in an emergency my husband or I were going to just drop her off at the door and wait in the dark unlit parking lot.MSAH was our second choice and will always be our first going forward.They let one of us accompany our pet, explained all the COVID-19 rules and charges up front. The vet was kind, explained all that he found going on with our baby, explained the treatment he would take, offered me to call him that night if things got worse and faxed promptly the visit paperwork to our vet as promised that same evening.I will recommend this hospital whenever possible.

Our dog Gee was rushed to your hospital on Mardi Gras morning 2019. She was very Ill and we were sure we were going to loose her. The doctors and staff were excellent in caring for her in ICU. Dr. Reed kept us abreast of her progress for the 5 days she was in your care. She pulled through and is doing well for a very old dog.Thanks for everything!

MSAH is amazing! The staff is very friendly and every time I needed to see a vet in an emergency or for a regular appointment they are always open.

Took my dog in after she was attacked by another dog. First bill was over $500 to get her stitches. Then stitches came undone and had to spend another $472 to get her re-stitched, which I feel should NOT have cost me money considering it was probably a lack of proper stitching on the vet’s end.The doctors and staff are very kind though. And quick to respond, it is just a very pricey place for animal healthcare.

I came across a stray kitten someone threw out in traffic the other day. I decided to keep the kitty and set up an appointment for friday(today). The clinic was beautifully designed, the staff was super friendly. Megan M. Was our vet, and she was excellent! Found out the kitten was about 8 weeks old, too young to have the full round of shots, so I was told Id have to come in every 4 weeks til he is caught up on all of his boosters. So today was the FVRCP shot, dewormer, and a little flea medicine on his back. I was sent home with a sample bag of special diet kitten food and a fecal sample cup to bring back for them to test. Everything went great, and so I swipe my card at the desk for $157.00......isnt that a little high??? And Im supposed to come back for more vaccines, but wow thats a lot for me....how much should this have been? And should I look for another place to take him for his other shots?

I had to bring my cat Watson here to be put down due to FIV, cancer, and anemia. The vet and the front desk staff were super understanding and attentive, and they clearly did their best to make sure his final moments were peaceful. I would go as far as to say that this was the most traumatic experience in my life thus far, but they helped make it easier. Coordinating with Heaven’s Pets was also easy and affordable.

I was second guessing having to put my beloved dog down. The Vet came and sat with me in the room and was very compassionate and thorough. Unfortunately, my Laythum had severe heart damage that was beyond repair. The Vet and staff here showed the utmost respect for both my dog and my family. Thank you so much!

Even in the middle of a pandemic, I was able to bring my now 16-year-old cat, Dimitri to see Dr. Darryl Haydel at the West Esplanade Clinic on Tuesday, April 21st for his vaccinations and senior wellness exam. The only disappointment I had with this visit was that I was unable to be in the examining room with Dimitri. But, my prayers were with him and he did great while he was with Dr. Darryl and Taylor his vet assistant. The best news of all, Dimitri had a great examination and his blood work came back clean as a whistle. Also, Dr. Darryl did not hear any sign of his heart murmur.

Beware they only care about money not your pet.

While visiting NOLA, our dog needed emergency dental surgery. MSAH provided us with professional, effective and efficient service, while also communicating well with us. A splendid experience!

Our Maltese puppy began limping soon after she woke up on Sunday morning. I immediately called MSAH Emergency line. They were extremely attentive to our needs. Dr. Alex helped calm my nerves after he completed his thorough examination. The appointment was A+ and all COVID protocol was followed. Bluberri is now home and is on the mend. Would highly recommend MSAH for all of your veterinarian needs!

Highly recommend!!! Dr Meredith Addison is wonderful. She calmed my very scared rescue pup Gracie who was unfortunately found with heart worms. Dr Meredith gave us a safe plan to treat her, and Gracie loves her! If you’re looking for knowledge and care for your pet, definitely check out MSAH.

I have been going to MSAH with my pets for the past six years - for a very high needs dog for about 4.5 years, a cat for 5 years, and now a puppy. We have also brought pets that my husband watches/walks with his business to MSAH. All of our experiences have been great. Our primary vet is Dr. Chris, but we have met with other vets. They are all terrific and the staff is as well.

I had been to two other vets searching for a non surgical way to alleviate my small dogs neurological issues. The combination of muscle relaxers and laser pain management therapy recommended by MSAH has made a dramatic difference in my 13yo dogs life and I could not be more grateful!

Dr. Darryl Haydel is great! I feel very comfortable that he will take the best care of my cat, Miracle.

I love the doctors and staff. A bit pricey, but 27/7 emergency care is well worth it. All of the staff and doctors treat you like family. First class service. Remember you get what you pay for. The groomers are awesome too!

I have been coming to MSAH for several years and I have seen a real decline in the professionalism and practices here. Its truly disappointing especially for a business that deals with peoples pets. The last several visits that Ive had they have messed up my medication for my dogs even with me calling beforehand and trying to ensure that it would be right, wait times are long for said medications even when theyre supposed to be ready, their costs are high even in the relative market, and the staff are almost always short with guests and unprofessional like they dont want to be there and cant be bothered and are cycled through quickly, specifically those at the front desk. Most recently I brought my dog in for an emergency visit and the doctor said he had gum irritation and sent him home with a anti-inflammatory NSAID, two days later its well into an infection and he has a growth on his tooth. Seeing it two days later theres no way it wasnt infected when he was seen and he should have been prescribed an antibiotic then. I brought him to a different veterinary office instead and they addressed all my concerns and got him started on antibiotics, food to help him eat despite his tenderness and pain in his mouth, and scheduled him for x-rays, a cleaning, and a biopsy. It should have been caught sooner by the trained and certified vet that saw him, not me who is not a vet. I called today and spoke with a manager to express all my concerns about both the staff interactions and my visit and she told me she would put it in my chart and talk to the doctor and the staff member that I most recently spoke to but that she also wasnt a doctor so she couldnt say what the time frame is on these things. If shes the one managing the concerns she should have the knowledge to address them and I dont know why a veterinarian would not be in charge at a veterinary hospital. I dont foresee myself coming back to MSAH and I cant recommend it to friends for the price you pay but the service you get. It could have been worse with my dog and I wont take the chance again.

Dr. Joe is AWESOME. he took great care of our foster mom and all her babies. She had 14. He is a very kind and compassionate vet. I would recommend him to anyone needing veterinary services in the area. He is great with people and our pets.

Awesome place! Had to bring in my best friend at 2am to send him up to a better place worst decision Ive ever had to make. Everybody there was very friendly, helpful, and made me feel like they were there for me. Dr A was super sweet. If I get another dog eventually Ill definatly be bringing them here for their vet services!

This place is incredible. I called multiple vet hospitals before calling here but no one would see me during my cat’s emergency because I wasn’t a recurring patient. Metairie Small Animal Hospital was able to schedule me for an appointment half an hour out and told me that I could always just show up for a walk-in emergency if they were booked. The vet (Dr Reid) and the vet tech were both extremely professional, friendly, and thorough with their communication with me and their exam and follow through with my cat. You can tell they really love animals. The woman who checked me out was also friendly and helpful. Every person we encountered here gave top notch care, all in a timely manner, and we will certainly be back for our regular visits as well. Also, the waiting room is gorgeous.

We took a family dog in for euthanization on a Sunday during the Covid-19 stay at home order. The staff was extremely accommodating and very friendly. They went well out of their way to make sure the family was comforted during the entire process, and on top of all that, the services were reasonably priced. Ive taken my cat here a couple of times. Recently, I was grateful because when my cat was in trouble and in urgent need of care, MSAH was available for an appointment the very next day, whereas the clinic I prefer was not available for another week.But: the vet who saw my cat recommended a cat food without saying Id need a prescription to buy it from a pet store, and without writing a prescription for it. She also gave us a baggie with enough of the same food for about 5 days, which was not labeled with enough information for me to determine what the food was when it came time for me to buy it.Well, I ordered a similar food from another clinic but it didnt come in in time (not worth explaining and not MSAHs fault).So the day came that my cat ran out of her baggie of food, and I found out that apparently pet stores want a prescription for this food, so I called MSAH in the morning and asked for a prescription. I was advised the prescription would be available in a few hours. Not wanting to run around too much, I also told them I would just buy the initial bag of cat food at their location when I pick up the prescription. I gave them the size of bag Id want, 3 lbs., so that it would be ready.I waited about 4 hours and when it came near the time that Id pick up the food and prescription, I called them and the person who answered had no clue about the prescription and apparently did not see in their system that we needed a prescription. The young lady I spoke with that morning was also not available to speak with. But the lady who was speaking to me assured me a new prescription would be ready in 15 minutes. I can live with that.About 30 minutes later, I received a voicemail: they in fact did not have the 3lb bag of food (mind you, 4.5 hours after I told them my choice of 3lbs). However, a smaller size bag was available, 1.5 lbs.I called back and inquired, and that size of bag, 1.5 lbs, was not available, either, in fact. So they quoted me the price for 7 lbs, which was astronomical, and not an amount I was willing to pay. (At the other clinic I mentioned, I was able to get 8lbs for $33, but like I said, the order fell through on the day I needed it most.)I would have (and could have) spoken with a totally different MSAH location for the prescription to have a different doctor sign the prescription (because apparently, so long as the chart shows I need the prescription food, it is not important which MSAH vet signs the prescription), but now it was too late in the day to do that. A different MSAH location might have had the size of food bag I could afford, but now it was too late in the day to try that, either.MSAH is pricier than plenty of other vet clinics, and I always assumed that it was because they have their ducks in a row and the overall experience is nice and more relaxed. Now, I am not so sure that is the case.After all, the first doctor who examined my cat (we brought her in because we suspected a UTI) did not even bother to do a urinalysis. S/he prodded my cats bladder and administered a steroid and an antibiotic and sent her on her way. That cost $127 and did not work at all. I would not normally be irritated with this, because I understand that medical treatments are not a guarantee, but I feel that the doctor did not thoroughly enough examine my cats problem. It seems only obvious to me that, when suspecting a UTI, youd want to test the pee. So, the problem did not go away, and a few days later, we brought the cat back, where a vet did Xrays, a urinalysis, etc., and that racked up $360 in vet fees. This is when the vet recommended a prescription pet food that she *didnt prescribe*. I was not aware a prescription was needed - otherwise I would have asked.To be fair, I thought the vet was pretty helpful in explaining things, and I still think that in general, the staff know what they are doing when it comes to treating animals. But I am not so sure anymore that Id recommend going to MSAH as a first choice.

Etc etc. We moved to the north shore and still drive across to get our care and treatment here. Dr Chris Fabacher is very intelligent and experienced and will do anything he can to help your baby. Dr Samantha Glisson is a very special and compassionate human who GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND!

Had a 3am emergency with my dog Brooks passing blood (from both ends) and found this place online. Called, the guy (maybe Mike) was super friendly and I headed that way. The Vet in call and the guy on staff were both great with my dog and helped me calm down down some too. She was treated checked out, treated and given meds and under close watch by me to return if any of the list took place.. She made some improvement but mid-day Gabe me another scare. Once again everything was handled and also a diet for her. By that night she was finally eating and drinking. By the following morning she was doing much better!! Thankful I found this place and I’m pretty sure we just found our new vet office.

The staff is wonderful and Ive never had an issue with care provided to my dogs (we have two). The only reason I cant give 5 stars is due to price. MSAH is very expensive. Their services cost double to triple compared to other veterinary clinics in the area. If the pricing were more reasonable, we would consider staying. Unfortunately, the cost is so high we are moving to another clinic :(

Called Kenner to schedule an appointment for my cat that had a raw bottom. They saw me in 10 minutes. I got there and they saw me immediately. Dr. Allison is awesome. She is so good with all my animals. Thank you for seeing me and my cat. She is so much better today.

Wish I could give this place 0 stars! My dog had an appointment at the Kenner location and I will never step foot in another MSAH ever again. My poor dog is so lovely for the vet the 3 years Ive had him. He LOVES going to the vet, weve never had any issues before. All the vets he has seen at his previous vet in MS, said he was so lovely and well behaved and he made friends with all the techs. I was lectured in the office by the receptionist that he was difficult and did not like restraint, mouthy, not aggressive but not trusting You mean like a normal dog with people he doesnt know? Also, very upset they had to restrain him in any way. They told me he snapped at them so they had to muzzle him and that I should not bring him around small children. This dog has never so much as snapped at a fly, let alone a person! Then, it gets worse because I let their butcher of a groomer touch my dog. They complained to me that I should have brought him to another location because they do not have a ramp and they had to pick him up and put him in the tub. It is not my fault that when I told you I was bringing in a 90lb golden retriever that you said Okay thats fine. If youre not equipped to handle a big dog, then dont tell me to bring in my big dog. I also only stated to trim my dogs feet, not anything else.

The staff is so friendly. The doctors and staff are so good with my Bella that she doesnt even mind going. There is never a wait. I love that it us so close to my house and so convenient.

Very very expensive. Vet was not friendly and administered an anti nausea medicine that is not recommended for young kittens. My kitten is 2 months old, the drug is meant for kittens 4+ months. He was also very rough. If you love your animals and your wallet, I would not bring them here unless it is a dire emergency.

We were extremely pleased and impressed with the service given us and treatment provided for our beloved boxer, Boudreaux. While in from San Antonio visiting family for Christmas, we got word from our SA vet that urinalysis and culture results showed that the antibiotics he was taking would not work to clear up stones in his bladder and urethra ... He would need emergency surgery. We were very concerned, not being familiar with any vets in the area, especially any who would be able to treat him as an emergency, and the weekend before Christmas at that! I am so thankful that we found MSAH when looking online! The vets were excellent, managing to flush the urethra stones back into the bladder so they could be surgically removed (not an easy task). Thankfully, Boudreaux came through the surgery fine. The doctors and staff were very helpful and kind. When we picked up Boudreaux, Dr. Chris spent a good amount of time explaining everything to us, answering our questions, showing us the x-rays, etc. He even called me back personally (within minutes) when I had a question after getting Boudreaux home and assured me that I could call at any time should we have any questions or concerns. Boudreaux is recovering nicely, and we are so grateful that Dr. Chris and MSAH were there when we needed them and made a traumatic situation a lot less stressful for us all!

Really expensive mistake. My cat was misdiagnosed, and after returning, provided sub par care, causing us to have to return several times over several weeks and spend nearly $900 on treating a small cut. The frontline staff and Vet Techs were all really nice, but the medical care was poor and there was no communications between doctors. Also they play really creepy and annoying lullabies day and night. It is one of the few 24 spots so you gotta do what you gotta do in case of emergency, but definitely don’t return for follow-up care.

We are long time clients of Metairie Small Animal Hospital. We could not ask for better doctors, staff or care for our pets. The doctors are easy to speak with and are open to discussion. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love the weekend hours as we have needed them a few times. I love that they open early so I can get my food and meds done after car pool. The boarding is also a great option. I would not take my fur baby any place else.

The vets here are stellar, and they set the tone for all other employees. Customer service here is top notch. More importantly, the vets and techs are some of the best and brightest in the nation.

I presume its all in who you see. The overnight E.R vet was absolutely amazing! He truly went above and beyond to find out what was ailing my dog. However, on another day visit, we saw another vet, and I was not pleased at all. I felt like I fell into the typical vet trap as I call it; cycling through expensive tests, which resulted in my dog having even more separation issues. I brought up my dogs allergies hes been fighting with, but this vet wouldnt even address that concern but pushed the more serious expensive possibility. Turns out, my dog is just suffering with allergies. After these visits, he wont even let other people go anywhere near him now; that is seriously disappointing to watch him run from people. I hope he resorts back to his old ways. This experience will have me seeking out another vet.

Dr. Megan is truly amazing. On a trip to New Orleans, we found a very sick and injured little kitten. Being from the northeast, we were nervous that the level of vet care in the south wouldnt be the same. Boy, were we wrong. Not only was the care outstanding, but the price was much less than at an emergency vet in our area.They were able to save her life and get her stable enough for travel, and now shes home safe and sound. Of course, she has a long road ahead, but shes alive and loved.I would give Dr. Megan a million stars if I could, and every single staff member was so caring. We couldnt have asked for better. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

I like the doctors that I have seen there. We go to the W.Esplanade office. I highly recommend this location and have NO complaints in their care and treatment of our pet.

Amazing team! We were on vacation when unfortunately our dog started having seizures. The vets (especially Dr. Megan) were great. They answered all of our questions and were available even after we left the state and our dog was discharged and started having issues again. The vet techs and the secretaries were all so nice and caring as well. We appreciate everything they did for us in such an awful and stressful time !

Due to inclimate weather, this office was only open for emergencies (which I had). Service was quick and professional. Pleased with results

They do not have animals best interests at heart. They only care about money. My dog is very sick, and anytime i talk about putting him down they try to make me feel bad and say “oh well you can put him on pain medicine to spend more with him”. His liver is failing and the doctors exact words were “his liver looks like Swiss cheese or like a honeycomb” so they rather pump him with pain meds than just put him down bc the pain meds and visits bring more money into their clinic. I’ve never had a vet not respect my decisions with my pets. Today brought in another one of my dogs and instead of helping her like i asked they want her to just sit in pain to let the problem “magically” go away on it’s own even though this is a repeat problem and they helped her the first time bc they claimed there was no way for it to go away on its own. Now same problem and according to them it’s going to magically go away on its own. Didn’t help her but still charged me for the visit as well.

I was very pleased with the care my beloved Baxter received. He was bitten by a dog and had a puncture wound in his chest. It was an emergency situation. I was terrified. The staff made me feel at ease they were very professional and it appeared like they know their stuff. I was not pleased with the price. I never dreamed a visit to the vet would cost more than it does for ME to go to the doctor. However, you get what you pay for. And Baxter is priceless

Extremely rude and unprofessional phone etiquette. I called asking if they could take care of an emergency tooth extraction for my dog, as he was in pain with a damaged tooth. After explaining that it was an emergency due to the fact that my dog could not close his mouth, the receptionist was not only unable to give any pricing other than the cost of just the initial visit, but she also checked with a vet who said that it couldnt be a bad tooth and I would have to wait until morning to see a dental specialist. I may not have medical experience, but I am definitely able to tell when my dog cannot close his mouth due to a tooth. After explaining this, the young lady proceeded to keep me on hold for 25 minutes while she tried to inquire as to whether or not they could perform a tooth extraction, only to come back and ask for my number so she could call me back. Incompetence and an attitude are all I got during this entire experience, while my dog has to suffer until morning, when I can take him to a real Veterinarian.

I cannot say enough GOOD GOOD GOOD things about MSAH. My poor little Scooter was suffering from a mystery illness until Dr. Brian Melius figured out that he had Meningitis. A quick round of medicine and my puppy was his happy self again! The staff here is attentive and courteous, their love of animals is amazing and I would not send anyone with a pet anywhere else in the city! They are simply the best!

Really first rate care for our animal.Dr Brewington and the staff at Lakeview cared for our cat for only a few months at unfortunately the end of her life. The contacts that we had at the clinics were timely, professional and compassionate. We could not be more thankful to have them care for our cat at a difficult time. Could not recommend them more.

Despite having a more cost-effective veterinarian I can go to for annuals and basic (non-urgent/generally preplanned far in advance) check-up’s, I had to take one of my babies for an oncology-related amputation surgery elsewhere. As soon as I called MSAH and told them what was going on, they said they would get the oncology nurse, Lauren, to get in touch with me. She called within hours and set us up for consult with herself and Dr. Meredith. Both nurse and doctor were amazing with my cat Buddha and provided advice and information to me. Buddha went for surgery with Dr. Meredith two months ago. After surgery, the hospital granted us permission to see Buddha during her overnight stay, which put us incredibly at ease and we know is not allowed some other veterinary hospitals locally. Dr. Meredith has been taking care of not only us with post-surgery x-rays and rechecks, but now our other two feline friends for sick visits! In her absence or commitment, we’ve seen Dr. Samantha, who is also fabulous and loves the kitty babies! Even the technicians have been nothing but loving and patient with my cat friends; no bites or hisses at MSAH! I feel like I’ve finally found a place that cares for my cats in a way that makes all parties feel comfortable. If you are looking for feline-friendly staff who will make time and room for your cat companions, this is the place.The reason for not giving 5 stars: they lost Buddha’s extracted limb, putting it in discard instead of sending it to biopsy (which at least made the final surgery bill less than I expected but still provided inconclusive evidence of an actually MALIGNANT tumor—thank god for Lauren at least getting me Dr. Overly’s review of Buddha’s files, x-rays, etc. and calming me down about all that). How does one mis-mark a limb of a cat sent in for amputation to remove a tumor and lame limb, though?? And the cost to go here is steep. But when your babies need to be seen same-day and you know they will get proper care, money is not necessarily an object.

We called THREE days ago,because our mini pig lost the use of his legs.First the woman who awnsered the phone told us they dont treat pigs, even tho they were listed on the website. Then We were told that an exotic vet would call us right back. We havent received a call, and our poor Hamilton still can not walk. Very unprofessional.

I saw Dr. Gordy Labbe for the first time when I brought my 11 week old maltipoo Mimi to have her first check up. He was very nice and kind to Mimi giving her treats when she got her shots. He spent 40 minutes with us going over her care and her thorough examination. Needless to say I was very impressed with the visit.

They unnecessarily run up charges in any way they can. Prey on your fear to add expensive services which a normal vet wouldnt push on you. Avoid this place if you can, theyll milk you if they have the opportunity.2 years ago, I brought a dog with a limp into my normal vet in the same neighborhood. Physical, X-rays, painkillers & anti-inflammatories. Around $200. That dog had bone cancer.Recently, I brought a dog with a limp into MSAH. Physical, X-rays, $120 single-use sedative (?), 3rd party radiological review (?), painkillers, anti-inflammatories, and antibiotics - despite having a fresh set available at home. $550. This dog had a sore shoulder.

I called ahead and came in during emergency hours because my pet had a seizure. They couldnt find the key to their pharmacy cabinet. Before they admitted that, she had two more seizures while we waited. If they hadnt been so careless, or at least told us immediately so we could go somewhere else, she might still be with me. The third seizure put her into a vegetative state. She died two weeks later. Well never go back, and never let friends go. Just go to MedVet.

RIDICULOUSLY expensive- to the tune of $600 for shots and a bath.I was charged for things I did not request to have done, and would not have approved for them to complete, had they asked me in advance.A staff member talked to the Vet about my bill who told her that she (the Vet) had called me before the exam to ask if she could perform these extraneous items, but could not reach me and left a voice mail. I just listened to the voice mail, and she left me a message AFTER she completed the exam. Her message only said the exams went well and the dogs were headed to grooming for their baths. If she did not have my consent for these outside services, she should not have performed them and then charged me.My dogs are perfectly healthy, and most definitely did not need a $150 wellness panel lab test. Nor did they need a Flu shot, or a $90 fecal analysis. Furthermore, an evesdropping front desk staff member chimed in about the dogs needing a full exam each year, another item I questioned. One of the two dogs JUST had an annual exam in their office a few months ago. This same evesdropping staff member also felt he needed to tell me that I am the one who should have called them to see what they were planning to do & charge me for. I thought I was pretty clear when I called and said my 2 dogs needed to come in for their annual vaccinations and that they also each needed a bath. Not only that, but I provided a very specific list of the vaccinations that were out of date by providing last years shot records.

I really like MSAH! They treat my dog Cinderella like she is part of their family. Dr. Melius is super, and provides excellent treatment.

Went to see Dr. Joe Vaccaro at the Freret Clinic of the Metairie Small Animal Hospital with my 18 year old cat, Rose. I received EXCELLENT service from an EXCELLENT doctor. Dr. Joes thoroughness and extremely knowledgeable veterinary care answered all of my concerns and fears about caring for my elderly kitty. I couldnt be happier or more pleased with the care and service I received for my Rose. I am so glad that Dr. Joe is caring for my fur baby!

I was pleased with the medical service my dog received until I got the bill and realized I was overcharged. I was charged for 2 days worth of intensive care when my dog was in less than 24 hrs. When I spoke with their billing department, the were rigid and did not want to hear me. Be advised, your pet will get great care but you will feel cheated after leaving. Props to my doc for helping my Lula.

Good people but why are examinations themselves so expensive?

Dr. Rene Baumer, Corey, Barbara, Britney and the entire MSAH Robert E. Lee team are amazing and I personally cant imagine having anyone else care for my two boxers. Their professionalism, personal service, warmth and friendliness, in addition to Dr. Renes medical expertise and caring bed side manner set them apart from any other Animal Hospital.

Caring, thoughtful, experienced! I would not bring my Gracie any where else. Best care!!

Totally pleasant experience from the moment I walked in the door. Very clean, odor free. Not crazy noisy from animals in the back rooms. All the staff was wonderful and friendly. Dr. Rene was very pleasant and caring about the welfare about my JinkxieCat. He explained in detail what he was doing and what he would recommend for her treatment. I was contacted by the staff after my appointment to inform me of her test results and to make sure she was doing well.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MSAH Lakeview. Job well done by all.

Always incredibly incompetent. The front desk staff is horrible.

This “animal hospital” is a murdering facility. Their workers are untrained and uneducated and they endanger the life of everyone’s beloved pets. Our vet had just administered our dog a bordetella shot a week before we boarded her and we gave MSAH the sheet from our vet confirming this. They still gave her that shot, overdosing her on Bordetella, and still attempted to charge us for it. After assuring us that “there shouldn’t be any problem” with this overdose they fumbled around and then tried to pretend like it never happened by all of a sudden saying that they never gave it to her in the first place. However, she has been sick and has gotten so bad that she is in our local animal hospital and our local vets confirmed that MSAH must have overdosed her. If you love your dog as much as I loved mine, then I beg that you don’t send them to this horrible place so that they can escape the fate of my poor Millie. Please pray for a fast and unforeseen recovery for her.
