I just wanted to take a minute to say “Thank You” to you staff at the Mesa Arizona Airport facility (Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport)We picked up our car at the PHX location on Friday 9/10/21, then on Tuesday 9/14/21 we had a dash warning light come on that changed out plans for the day.The gentleman who was working in the lot was very efficient when we arrived, he made a call inside and within minutes notified us to go inside and the lady at the desk would have a car for us. She too was very efficient and pleasant!We were back on our way in no time.Again, we cannot say enough good stuff about the staff!Thank you for having GREAT People,Nick and Diane

The rental process was easy and the person at the counter was nice. We had to change our pick up time a couple of times, but it was easy calling the number provided on the reservation. It would have been nice to pick out an suv, but I only saw the one we got in the parking lot. The Dodge Journey just did not have enough power for some of the hills. The change oil soon message came on only after a couple hundred miles and that was kind of annoying, considering we had just started our trip. Overall, it was a good experience and a good price.

The booth at the Phoenix Mesa airport is always so quick and easy to pick up my car, but during this last visit they went above and beyond to help me get the right car for my elderly mother. The cars are always clean and the staff are always very friendly and helpful.

Overall the reservation online, the vehicle and the return was smooth sailing! Exactly what you need when dealing with the stress of traveling. Unfortunately my experience at the counter left me absolutely irritated. The associate Blanca, who helped me was extremely unprofessional. When asking her questions, she didn’t respond. At one point I said “hello?” Because we shared an uncomfortable silence after asking a question and her, still, not responding. She made things intentionally difficult avoiding my direct questions and just staring. I stepped out for a second to calm down because it was at that point where I was considering just using Uber, anything was better then this? Once I came back inside a different associate helped me and it made a world of difference. Tucker was helpful, he answered my very easy, direct questions with ease. After an hour and half I was leaving with my rental vehicle in five minutes after coming back in and working with Tucker. As I was leaving I asked the other girl for her name, and she had the audacity to roll her eyes and spite Blanca at me. (Felt like I was dealing with a teenager.)

I flew in on the 4th of July with my family & had a reservation, im an executive member with national & rent all over when traveling. I first had a interaction with Ethan who was absolutely no help, as they only had 4 vehicles to choose from on the emerald aisle. I advised him I needed a bigger vehicle & that if I upgraded it would be a extra $50 a day. He also asked about my personal insurance & wanted to run my credit card I advised I never had anyone ever ask me for these things. He gave no reason as to why he was asking for them. Ethan goes & gets his Manager Alexxis Brown who shouldnt be a Manager at all, she possess no skills to make her a Manager much less a good Manager. She comes over & after a few words & her not being able to explain to me why I was being overcharged for a upgraded vehicle which Ive taken before I said fine ill pay for the upgrade now there was a mileage restriction which I also never heard because the mileage is usually unlimited. She couldnt answer that question & became snoodie so I said I would take a regular compact car to sky harbor & see what I could get so for her to give me my drivers license & CC & that I was leaving, she says you can leave & im canceling your reservation & called the cops on me. I never yelled at her or cussed at her or threatened her, but I was upset because she was trying to charge me $1000 for a suv, the cops come & ask me what was going on & I explained to them what the situation was, bottom like shes a unhappy bitter person who has her own issues going on & from other people Ive spoken with she cancels alot of peoples reservations & she doesnt need to be working for National. The one good person her name is Karen they do have working for them is in the box outside & she should be the Manager. I will never fly into mesa gateway again due to this experience please make alternate plans if flying in here or use a different rental.

Normally avoid the counter, but not in Phoenix-Mesa airport and no sign posted for Emerald customers to use counter. The process took about an hour to check out. National people were very pleasant at check out and check in and the car was excellent.

Just a fantastic staff member at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport. I mentioned to Linda that I needed as large a vehicle as I could get in my rental class to transport a number of boxes, and she went out of her way to help me. Clearly took customer satisfaction to a new level. Linda had a great personality and was pleasant to work with. I also had a good experience when I returned the car. I did not meet the Manager of this small rental location, but obliviously doing a good job hiring and motivating its employees. It shows. I am a long term Emerald Executive and have seen my share of rentals.

I appreciated the bump up in size of car, the Malibu was a comfy ride. It was suspicious and proved to be founded when the desk clerk went back to get a key, but then found it was at her desk. Another omen was when she advised me to take photos of any imperfections in the auto. She told me to email them, but I never did find the place to email the photo of the large crack in the front windshield.There was no attendant in the lot to show the damage and though I took photos, it did weigh heavy on my mind that I would be charged for the broken windshield.When I returned the vehicle I was needlessly rushed - there was only one other car returned at that time. The attendant began to chastise me that I was going to have to pay for the window until he settled down when I interrupted his tirade and told him I had a photo.All was well, but it was not a flawless enjoyable experience like when you just walked out and got in a car and drove away.

I really did not like the car that I was given. Dont exactly remember much except that it was a KIA and very low clearance which made getting in and out a hassle. Otherwise, I got the usual great service and treatment from National.

I had a very good experience, the Customer Service agent was wonderful and explained the return was across the street from airport and not near the pick-up area. This helped as this was my first time in Mesa, AZ. The car was very clean and I enjoyed driving it, being a sporty car.

I rented an SUV from 6/26-6/28 at the vehicle from National counter in Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.My experience was nothing short of being great. Linda, the agent was very friendly, courteous, respectful and a pleasure to talk with. She was very quick on handling all the paperwork. Linda told me that if I did not like the vehicle for any reason, not to hesitate to come back and see her. She exemplifies Total Customer Satisfaction.I walked away from the counter feeling like I had been treated like royalty.

Nice car, courteous counter staff. My only suggestion is to clean the inside of the windshield better. Thus is common with many car rentals, hazy dirty inside windshield. But other than that, an excellent car and service.

National is usually pretty good everywhere, but this one at the Mesa airpot has the best customer service and professionalism of any car rental place Ive been around the country. I had the pleasure of working with Celina Moreno. Ive never seen someone work so quickly and efficiently, while still being incredibly friendly and polite. I walked into the booth outside with about ~10 people in line. Experience has taught me that I had at least a half hour wait ahead of me, but she cleared the line in no more than 5 minutes. Wow! I wish all of their employees could be as great as Celina.

The person waiting on me was great. The problem was the car. It was filthy on the outside. Not a big problem but when I opened the car door and went to get in it reeked of cigarettes or cigars. Not a smoker so not sure which. Last flight of the night, wasnt sure I could back inside the terminal so I drove the car 2 hours to my destination.

I have rented vehicles from National for years but now have to find a new rental company. Terrible customer service at this location!! First of all when we received the vehicle it had trash left inside it. There were empty coffee cups and water bottles that were left from a previous renter. They obviously dont clean them before renting them out again. My son and daughter-in-law accidentally left a very expensive camera in the vehicle and we didnt realize it until we were on our plane. As soon as we landed my daughter-in-law and I tried calling multiple times to make sure they got it out of the vehicle before they rented it out again. No such luck. After following several prompts we ended up being put on hold forever and no one ever answered. We ended up having to leave messages and completed a lost item report online. It is now 6 days later and still have not heard anything back. We have family there who have been trying to help as well but have gotten nothing but the run around with their attempts as well. Again terrible customer service at the Mesa location!! Once a family member actually got to speak to someone they said the vehicle was rented out right after we returned it. They said if anything was found it would have been placed in a safe and that they couldnt check if the camera was in the safe because the safe couldnt be opened until Monday. We returned the car on a Saturday. My question is if the safe cant be opened on the weekend how are they able to put lost items in it then??? So we have no idea what to do. They could at least let us know how long the vehicle was rented out for so we have an idea of when we should hear something back. Sure that will never happen. So in summary dont forget anything in one of their rentals and expect any help getting it back. And they dont answer the phone so if you need any help you need to be lucky enough to be located near a rental location where you can get in line to actually speak to someone at the counter who just wants to take your money.

The person that greeted me was incredibly rude. He was standing there fiddling with something on the counter that had nothing to do with the previous guests reservation and wouldnt even look up to say hello. I finally had to step in and say good afternoon. And then he reluctantly looked up. After we got into my prepaid reservation he kept asking me how many drivers there were going to be I told him one... he asked me two more times how many drivers there were going to be. I let that go and then he asked me how many seat belts are going to be needed he asked me that three times. I rented a large SUV. I then question him why do you keep asking me the same question multiple times. And he responded hey man I got to know. That was the end of our conversation. He was a heavyset guy, short receding hair and short. This person needs significant training in customer service... and most likely a position in some other field.

This was my first time renting a car in general and National gave me the worst experience ever. First of there customer service was the worst. I work in the customer service industry and I nor my coworkers would treat me how I was treated. The lady behind the counter had such attitude and looked like she was going to rip someone’s face off. Second there was a bunch of hidden fees that are not listed when you first reserve the car. Lastly they asked us if we wanted to upgrade for free and told us to pick our pickup truck we wanted and still didn’t even give us the correct one. So after everything my boyfriend called them that Monday and demanded to talk to a supervisor about his concerns. They where suppose to summit and refund into my count within 48 hours. 48 hours came and went and I gave them the benefit of the doubt cause it can take 5 days for it to process through your account, but now that the weekend has come and gone and I have not see what I am suppose too I am very upset with how even the supervisor has handled this with in the company. I will never be using national again after this and would recommend to my friends and family to do the same.

I rented a vehicle over the weekend and requested for a full size SUV. The lady that was helping me gave me a Crossover SUV. She indicated that this was the largest vehicle they had. I went out to the vehicle and the trunk space was too small for the trip I was taking. I went back inside and they gave me an Audi Q7. I tried fastening my seatbelt and I had to wiggle it in. When I got to my destination, I couldnt get out of the vehicle because of the seatbelt. So, I had to drive all the way back to the rental location to let them know there was something wrong with the seatbelt. I got to the lot and the lot attendant took the keys and was advised by him to just take the contract to the desk to switch the car out. When I got to the counter, I told the lady what the lot attendant said and she tried calling him but he didnt pick up. She was talking to the other lady and she asked her how do we know for sure if its broken? So, she didnt believe me and she was going to charge me fuel for that trip. Good thing the other lady took over. They gave me a large SUV, which was there the whole time. When I asked for the large SUV, they told me they didnt have it. All these issues could have been avoided if they would have given me the large SUV that I requested the first time. It was a horrible experience. I probably have over a hundred rental days the past 2 years and this is the worst experience Ive ever had.

My overall first impression is that the airline is pretty good My only complaint is that I paid for a window seat on the way back but I was looking at a wall. I shouldve been charged for a middle seat because I had no view to enjoy like I paid for. Wouldve been a 5 star review otherwise. I like flying in and out of smaller airports.

I reserved a Chevy Tahoe for the week visit. An email told me to go to the Counter upon arrival. At the counter they said my Tahoe was waiting for my family at the Emerald Aisle. When I got to the Aisle there was no Tahoe available. They made arrangements to give an alternative vehicle from the Hertz rental. The vehicle was a nice Infinity Q85. This was a nice vehicle but did not have near the needed luggage capacity needed to comfortably carry a golf club case and luggage for five people.If National specifically reserves a Chevy Tahoe for me I expect the vehicle to be what was offered and agreed to and not an alternative. Please respond to a concerned 30 year customer with your courteous response.

I arrived at the counter inside airport and was immediately directed to the outside counter as an Emerald Preferred customer (something new they were trying out). Although my contract was not available at the desk, the attendants (unfortunately forgot their names?) were friendly and very apologetic. They gave me a great upgrade which made up for the wait time. Great experience even with the delay.

Good experience. The staff were helpful and the Ford Escape rented was clean. The only thing was knowing where to go outside. The sign at the rental location in the airport indicated that Emerald Club members were to proceed directly to the building. It was unclear where that was from the rental area inside the building.

The check out desk was very busy and even as an Emerald Aisle member we had to wait. Our company covers liability but when we got our car the agent included it in the bill. I noticed it later and called the company. We had to go back to the airport and revise the contract. Cost us about $100 and an extra trip to the airport.

Our flight arrived late to Gateway Mesa (2 hours) there was only one car to choose from - a Volvo, supposedly a luxury car - the car was not clean, did not have a back up camera, no space for luggage, agent would not switch to the Cadillac that was on the lot.Next day had to go to Scottsdale airport to exchange for another car which you could not see out of the front or back window - had to take it to a car wash to get the car and windows clean!

We reserved an SUV. When we arrived we received a new Dodge Durango. We opened the doors to load our stuff and it was filthy, crumbs and dirt all over the car, we found napkins or tissues stuffed between the seats and an empty drink cup was in a cup holder in the back seat area. We probably wont be using National again.
