After moving into our new home, we had to call a plumber for what we thought was a minor problem. Unfortunately, it was not. After being called twice because the problem had not been repaired the first time, the plumber discovered that the custom-made cabinets that the previous owner had installed were nailed into the wall and through a pipe that caused a leak that impacted the main level and the basement. After contacting the insurance company, we were advised to find a company that could do the repairs. We found three companies, one of which was given great reviews by the BBC. We decided to go with the BBC’s recommendation; after all, they had to be the better of the three if the BBC gave them excellent ratings (we could not have been more wrong). Two of the companies had already taken a look at the damages. We did not want to waste any more time and were anxious to get the ball rolling, so we called Allen from CAT Recovery to be transparent and let him know that we were going with another company. His response was also honest and extremely helpful. He told us that we would be fine as long as we researched the company that we selected. We thanked him and then did just that. We Googled the company and thank goodness we did because the reviews were horrible for our chosen company. The second of the three had much better reviews, but Cat Recovery had the best of them all. We called Allen again to thank him for the advice and asked him to come over to take a look at the damages. From the beginning, we could tell they operated differently than the others. It wasn’t just one person that came to the initial appointment as with the other companies but a team of guys. The other companies spent 20-30 minutes in our home, whereas CAT was there for a considerable amount of time and then came back another day for another look. Once the work started, we were always able to contact Allen or Brandon to answer any questions that we had, and the quality of their work was excellent. We really appreciate the fact that they were:Consistent in their communications regarding the status of the projectHonest and transparent in their answers to our questions even if it was not what we wanted to hearPunctual and scheduled appointments were met with confirmation the day prior or a rescheduled time either later or earlier than anticipated.Please don’t make the mistake that we almost made. They immediately began drying the basement out and installed a commercial air filter to clean the air. They came back to remove water-damaged ductwork and treat for mild mold. So it’s Sunday morning, you sit down to breakfast and you’re planning aquiet rest filled day to recover from the brutal week preceding but instead your son announces that the entire contents of a closet downstairs, the ceiling, and a chunk of surrounding carpeting is covered in “brown” water from some mystery leak from the bathroom upstairs the night before. So you quickly jump into panic mode. There’s lots of screaming and crying. Lots of finger pointing about who is the responsible party, you examine all your life choices that have brought you to this moment and consider options like running away because this is your only day to rest before starting yet another horrendous work week on Monday.That was my last Sunday.
