I usually repair my vehicles myself, but Ive taken cars to Fordyce when I didnt have the time or the repair was more involved than I wanted to deal with. It was a rather serious oil leak that I couldnt determine from where it came. It was at the oil pump. I had it replaced and the timing belt done since they were in there and it was due to be done. The old car has been going great now.I used to take another car to a different shop that was pretty good about scheduling time in advance and completing work within the scheduled time. Fordyce takes a different approach; you bring the car in and they work on it as soon as they can. We have other cars to drive so I didnt mind, but I can imagine this would be frustrating for someone expecting their car at a certain time. My most recent repair did involve some sleuthing and waiting for a part to arrive so it took some understandable time. I pointed out a couple of other issues and they mechanic told me that they could address those issues, but that they could wait as well, which I decided to do.The mechanic took time to speak with me and show me what was going on with the car, which I appreciated. My experiences tell me that they are straight-forward and honest and are interested in being fair, not taking you for all youre worth.
I was a little apprehensive at first as Im not an easy one to please when it comes to mechanics; however, everyone was so respectful and kind. Shawn is a true car whisperer. I greatly appreciate, trust and value the work completed. Fordyce is definitely getting my referrals even if I have to Google their name every time. Thank you!!!
Thanks Gordon for helping me out with my car. The months and time and money I have spent with Just Brakes, Pep Boys and Firestone has been mind boggling. It is nice to know we still have Honest mechanics. I will be coming to your place for all my car repairs from now on.
Mechanic was nice but my boyfriend took his jeep here for an alignment and had an appointment at 8 am and came back at 430pm same day to pick up. When he got there they said they thought he wasnt coming back for it till the next day. This was never communicated to him. They hadnt even touched the jeep. Said they would work on it but he would have to come back the following morning to pick up. When he came back the next morning to pick the jeep up the mechanic said he had tossed some new front tires on so it was going to be an extra 200 dollars. Never asked for new tires. Just an alignment. So I would say just make sure you are VERY clear on what you would like.
Ive been going there for over 12 years. Gorden, Judy and Ron have always been great to work with. Good service and very competitve on tires and other services. Ron really knows his stuff and I trust his advice. Yes, sometimes you have to wait a bit but hey, they are just a hometown shop and cant be all things to all people.Mike Haynes Louisville/Montana
My sons truck got damaged in the hailstorm in June so I thought I would bring it to the local repair shop. They gave me a quote for 1600 and then made arrangements to get it fixed. They said it would be done in a day. After a day of doing nothing they called and said, oh, by the way we can’t do the repair for 1600, but it actually would be double that amount...3200! In my world and in my sons, Marine world, Word is honored. I will never take any of my cars to Fordyce for repairs because they do not honor their words, or in this case their Repair Quotes!
Trustworthy and always helps me out. I drive out if my way to give them my business. Hard to find a trustworthy mechanic.
Tom in the auto body shop did a wonderful job repairing some hit and run front-end damage to my SUV, where I was paying out-of-pocket! Thank you for some great, quality and timely work, which is so hard to find out there these days!! I recommend highly.
When someone thinks about an auto body shop and they think, man I think Im being overcharged, this is the place. Bar none, without question. They wanted to charge me nearly $6k for a job that would take less than $2k. Thankfully I got a second opinion. The mechanics are first rate. They know whats up. Its the people in charge that ruin everything. I came here once and that was one too many. Ill never return and I will warn anyone who does. Dont come here, not even for hail damage.
Instead of all the negative reviews of this place, I still decided to go there because it was a super simple job that couldnt go wrong. I wanted to spray 2 cans of anti-rust product (which I already purchased from an auto store) on the metal parts under my truck before Id spend some time in a rusty salty state in the December. I didnt want to do it myself only because I didnt have a safe way to lift my truck. Heres what happened as objective as I can put it:1. On 11/20, I dropped by their office, explained to them what I needed, and scheduled an appointment to get the job done on 11/23 10am so I can wait for it - I didnt want to drop off my truck for such a small job.2. On 11/23, I arrived on time, not a single minute late, and was told thered be some delay.3. I waited for 2 hours (during which I walked to a nearby restaurant to have lunch), and still they hadnt begun working on it. So I gave them my cell phone # and asked them to call me when theyd be able to work on it. I was nearby so I guess I could quickly come back once theyd be ready.4. At 4:30pm (6.5 hours after the time they promised to start the work) I still got no call, so I dropped by again and was told they could not do it today.5. Then I drove to a Big-O-Tires shop nearby, and 20 minutes later they completed the job. So this was indeed a super easy job.I can understand that sometimes a shop can get busy unexpectedly, so some delay is OK. But its totally beyond me why they wasnt able to prioritize a 20-minute job even 6.5 hours after the scheduled time. Either they hated me somehow or they didnt care what they promised.I wish I could leave a 0-star rating which is what they earned. Ill never use this place again and Ill try to convince everyone I know to avoid it as well.
I had a great experience here We had a blower fan that was making a whistling noise. A small job but these guys worked super hard to make it right when the replacement fan made the same noise. The noise ended up being a combination of fan and duct work issues and the continued to chase this elusive/intermittent issue with us no extra fees. Based on this experience I plan on bring a few of my other cars in for work.
I took my Toyota truck in for body work. Gordon did a fantastic job! Price was excellent, looking forward to taking in my Subaru too.!
Good repair and honest, straightforward advice. Fordyce has saved me thousands of dollars on my Subaru Outback by clearly explaining any problems and whether or not I should defer maintenance. This is my go-to mechanic for both our cars from now on.
The owner is great (Gorden). Got a great hail damage estimate here. Shawn and Lance were also excellent mechanics. Someone had the sweetest 64 or 5 Jeep CJ5. Would have liked to have driven it away..., LOL... (except for shorter wheel base, etc, issues)...They were also happy to assist me with estimates on other things ...Look forward to getting them in my email to see how compatible price wise they are vs. elsewhere in Bolder Boulder County.Later 5:15 pmGave high to low range mechanical estimates for desired work @ $112/hr, Napa or other provided part(s) as one desires...Still HartPlease support the United Way. Thanks.
Called for a quote- let them know what kind of truck I had, so theyd know exactly what it needed. Ended up being charged $240 (before tax) over what they had originally quoted me. I left a place that was up front about being more expensive to come to these folks- and ended up getting charged the same price. Was hoping I had found a reliable, affordable mechanic- but, this place ended up being worse than the others. At least the other place was honest about their cost. I would never have taken my vehicle here, had I known-
For a high price and all lies go to Fordyce. I took my steering knuckle in to get a wheel bearing replaced. Originally got qouted 1 hour ($110) as I provided my own parts. When I went to go pay and pick up my knuckle they said 3 hours which is $330 I disagreed and asked why it took so long Lance who is the tech that worked on it said it faught him. I asked to speak to the owner who told me my part was the wrong size so I made him prove it with a micrometer it was well within tolerance which I told him.I also asked why I didnt receive a notification that something was wrong when it came up especially because I provided the parts his response... I dont know so he and Lance proceeded to tell me that they had to get a new one because the one I provided was the wrong size when I asked are you sure you didnt just mess it up they both got really quiet and looked at each other. I ended up having to pay two hours of labor $220 just to get my part back. But I can assure you I will tell everyone that will listen that this place is about one thing... Your money they will lie and cheat to get it
Thank you Gordon and Lance for your hard work and your excellant Customer Service ....thanks again guys
I have been taking my two cars to Fordyce Auto for years.. I would not take them anywhere else in Colorado! These people are the best.Jim R.
My experiences have always been great with Fordyce. I found them when I got an offer for their VIP service that would give me free oil changes for a set fee. I have been to Fordyce 4 times now to get my truck serviced, and each time they give me a good update on how the truck looks, maintenance-wise. My latest experience was on my daughters car, which had started making some bad brake noises. I called up Fordyce and was able to get the car into their shop within 2 hours. They then called me up and gave me a rundown on costs, what needed to be done, etc, and then left it up to me to decide what to do. This would never happen at some of the chain shops, where your car would be called unsafe until you fixed it, or they jacked up the cost from their advertised bait-and-switch price. I trust Fordyce and will always go back them. I believe them to be a wonderful neighborhood shop with great honest service.
Had this place paint an aftermarket front bumper lip... I got the piece back, it was very poorly painted (runs, drips, not smooth) but I decided to live with it. I took the bumper piece home and installed it, at first glance I could tell the color (white) did not match, it was off only a little bit but noticeable... I was going to try and live with it, but after a few of my friends and family members commented on the color not matching I decided to take the piece back to Fordyce and have them repaint it, but they refused. I talked to the owner of the place directly and he told me he would have to recharge me to fix their screw up. Considering I used to work at a reputable body shop years ago, I am very disappointed to learn this place will not warranty their shotty work.Do yourself a favor and take your auto body needs down the street to Coal Creek Collision Center, I know first hand that they will not only admit their mistakes but gladly correct the error free of charge.
Called and asked if they could simply change the cooling fan in our VW, and the curt reply was not interested. I was under the impression Fordyce was a capable mechanic shop; but glad to take my business elsewhere.
Avoid if you value your health and safety.Im currently freezing in a snowstorm in my van in their parking lot. Theyve just called the cops on me because the owner had become impatient after 30 mins of waiting for my friend to send me money. Owner then states he wont take credit cards, and I tell him that Ill get an ATM. His shop quoted me $500 and now he wants $600 for shop fees, saying its because I was mean to everyone when Im not.The shop across town literally is asking half of that cost($300). Taking another tow there now. Their parking lot looks like its full of nice cars that were taken from customers that couldnt payThis guy told the cops that I cant wait inside for tow that I had to freeze in my van with no electricity to charge my 14% phoneThese people arent human. They dont need to be respected. Im pretty sure Im being discriminated because Im of gothic appearance in a redneck town, but its a snowstorm, and theyre treating me like a criminal and making me freeze
I had my clutch and timing belt replaced (plus a few other fixes) and they did a great job at a great price in a relatively short period of time. Thanks!
I see some very positive reviews containing the Service Manager, Ron. I too would have given this establishment 5 stars at one point. I have had my 3 vehicles worked on here to the tune of about $6,000.00 in the past year or so. I had my Son take his two cars there and told about a dozen people that this was the place to go.My last experience with this garage has left me pretty unhappy. I had taken my Toyota in for a timing kit job, and paid with my debit card. Seems like each of my vehicles were taking turn at having problems, and it was my Toyotas time for TLC again. Ron always took good care of me, and the last two repairs on my Suburban were adding up, so Ron told me to just pay in cash, he would take care of the paperwork (on computer) and it was all good. So the same was true when I brought my Toyota back in for front end work. I needed two front axels. Those were installed, but after about two minutes in my driveway there was fluid all over. I drove it right back to Ron and he said they forgot to put new seals in it during the job. So he ordered those and put them in about a week later. It cost me about eighty bucks more. I drove home, and again, it was leaking. I drove right back and showed him what looked like a gasket that was missed allowing it to leak. He agreed, and said he would order it. This was on a Friday, so he said it would be next week before he could get to it. He didnt have room to keep the truck, so I drove home. I called him the following week, and he said it would be one more week, that the part wasnt in. I called the shop the following week, and happened to get the owner, Gordon Fordyce. I explained to him why I was calling, and he told me that Ron had quit. So I explained more in detail what was going on, as he looked my name and truck up in his system. He saw that it had been in for the timing job, but nothing else. I had explained that I paid in cash, to which he said was my problem. In the meantime, my truck is still down and out, so this is sort of being irritable now- so I decided to forego emailing him, and decided to stop in and talk to him the following day. I was introduced to Gordon and he had me follow him up to his office. I cant detail the entire conversation in this short of forum, but the point he made to me was that he thought that I was trying to get some work out of his shop for free, since there was no record of the front end work even happening, besides the brand new parts on the truck. Then, he told me that Ron was stealing from ME and the he (Gordon Fordyce) did not feel it was in his responsibility to cover this work. How does a poor employee leave the job, and now its between Ron and ME? Even though he employed the Service Manager in HIS shop? He then eluded that I fill out a Police report for such theft. CRAZY! I asked him why all THREE mechanics have worked on the truck; how THEY got paid, they were obviously on the job. This wasnt a midnight, under the table occurrence here. Gordon insisted that I was the ONLY person that has paid cash there and that Ron was stealing from ME- not FORDYCE and that the gripe was between Ron (the Service Manager) and myself. WHAAA????? Not the shop?I told him that my truck was still in need of repair, that I had paid for a job that was not done correctly; that his Service Manager had ordered the part, that I was THIS close to being out of the door! Gordon said he would have his mechanic look at it. I received a call the following day to which Gordon just passed me on to his mechanic. Pete, (who had worked on all my cars) told me that it wasnt a gasket this time. I need a new differential, never did before! To the tune of upwards of $800.00! Now, I have a broken truck- the job suddenly went from paid for and almost fixed, now MORE work? Fordyce will not stand behind the work done at his shop. I dont care who quit on him, the JOB IS STILL INCOMPLETE. What shop WILL NOT stand behind the work PERFORMED THERE? DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!Former loyal customer. Now, just a ripped off consumer with a broken truck
I had to write a separate review with my other account, as I ran out of space. From the get go, Gordon Fordyce treated me as if I did something wrong by paying cash for the front two axels of my Toyota Tacoma. I sat down face to face with Gordon to explain how this job was already paid for- just not done correctly yet. He told me he respected my honesty about coming in to speak to him about the problem. Honesty? About what? About how the job was not done completely and that I pay in CASH? I went so far as finding out who his parts came from; called their commercial account dept. and they looked up the axel and seal parts and sure enough, they were ordered and delivered to the FORDYCE shop! Now- I showed them on my truck- I had to show him pictures as well, when he said I dont need to crawl under your truck. But he did see the pics. Nothing but new parts put on BY HIS SHOP. Still, he said that since I paid in cash and his Service Manager had quit, that this WAS NOT HIS PROBLEM. I left the truck over night as instructed, because Gordon said he would fix it if I covered the missing part. When he called me back, suddenly I needed a differential, not the very seal you could SEE leaking. He has nothing but excuses about this. Even though he stated Ive seen this truck in here a lot, I recognize it for sure. He then put his hand on my shoulder and stated, you know, as a Small Business owner, I have the right to refuse your business and FIRE your kind as a customer. Verbatim. He started talking about how God has got him through so much, how my honesty was good. I said, How is it that the truck that has been here REPEATEDLY over the last few weeks is now suddenly about my HONESTY? And, what IS My Kind? IS IT THE TATTOOS?After being told they needed $800.00 MORE from me, I hustled up there the following morning (I had read a review about some guy having to get the cops involved to get his car BACK from Fordyce). I went to the front and asked for my keys. I asked for Gordon and he never showed up. So, I guess in his mind, he Fired my kind and wouldnt speak to me. This guy is the most dishonest shop owner I have seen. Heres the formula: fix a truck wrong, take the consumers money, lose your Service Manager, any work done between the consumer and Service Manager, (who says he is entering a record of work in the computer) DOESNT enter it, say IT NEVER HAPPENED AT YOUR SHOP. When work is not correct, blame the customer and threaten to not work on it AT ALL. For some reason, if he feels youre not honest (again, whats to be dishonest about your shop NOT FIXING THE TRUCK?) and at the end of the day tell the customer to take it to court. And in fact, take the EX EMPLOYEE to court because he thinks HIS EMPLOYEE was stealing. All being said and done, leave the customer with a vehicle that is not fixed, but KEEP the money that was paid at the time of the initial fix! I have new axels, seals (that leak) and instead of fixing the leak with a gasket, try to recoup some money out of the consumer because Gordon is mad that his Service Manager quit him. I was a loyal customer, my son was, six people I sent his way, and guess what- we all paid in cash. So, I have a line of people that now see that the work done at that shop is not backed by the owner because we ALL PAID CASH. This guy is just being prideful and hardheaded about it. But there are a lot of us who now have work done without guarantee of jack. Gordon Fordyce does NOT do the right thing for customers. I urge people to NEVER go to this shop. This is just the tip of the iceberg of people that are going to want their money back because the Service Manager WORKING FOR FORDYCE took cash payments. All the money I dropped there, they say Ron was stealing, you mean to tell me that no one at Fordyce noticed. Just a prideful excuse. I paid in full for all of my vehicles being worked on there. I will do everything in my power to let people know what a scam this is. Shame on you, and to think I referred this shop at one time.Grade? F- Scammers. Shameful Gordon Fordyce
I took my truck here to get a clutch job/slave cylinder. I received my truck almost 3.5 weeks later (should have taken a day). I had to call the cops to get my truck back from this place after Ken almost ran me and my dogs over. I had to take my truck to another place and pay them $300 to fix what was working before I dropped it off at Fordyce, but not after. My drive shaft almost fell off while driving 65 in the mountains a few months after they worked on my transmission.DONT GIVE THESE HACKS MONEYEDIT: In response to the owner --No, I will not reach out to you directly. In my opinion, your mechanic KEN is not stable. I waited to write this review until I moved further than walking distance from your shop ... so that speaks plenty.I am a 61 male who weighs north of 200 #s. I cringe at the thought of sending a single woman into this place.Just for the record, I CALLED THE POLICE as I had already paid. I never refused to pay. The Police didnt magically get involved as you nonchalantly describe. The Police were called by me to your shop to retrieve my stolen possession.I had paid, left with my truck, and only had to return because my ENGINE barely ran after you were supposed to work on the CLUTCH/SLAVE. Your odd-mannered mechanic stole my keys out of my hands, stole my truck, nearly ran me and my 13 year old dog with hip problems over, and proceeded to lock my truck back in the bay. Again, you had already been PAID to work on the clutch. I had left with keys, truck, and receipt. The Police situation occurred when I returned and simply said I dont feel right paying you for a CLUTCH job in a truck that ran fine when it was dropped off and in which the ENGINE barely ran after picking it up. This is when KEN freaked out, went to what I can only describe as loco land, and stole my truck. You held my possession without permission until you could verify I hadnt cancelled the charges, once again, you were already paid for .... And I had to provide you with my receipt to get the authorization number because your inept office staff apparently doesnt understand technology. The work was supposed to be done ASAP, not waiting for approval like you claim. If your assertion were the case, why did I not get my truck back until closing time on New Years Eve while needing to call you almost every day to see when it would be done?I took my truck to Finn Mototech in Broomfield, a shop I DO recommend, as I didnt have to call the police to get my truck back from them. And yes, they fixed the damage done to my O2 sensors while my truck was in your possession, which of course I had to paid for.My drive shaft which nearly fell off in the mountains while driving at highway speeds obviously hadnt been properly torqued down to spec. Luckily I had my Leatherman tool to re-tighten the bolts which were hanging on by a thread and a prayer. After getting back home, I properly torqued my bolts and the truck has driven across country AND back with no problem related to the drive shaft. I can only imagine the torque issue happened because of the rush job to get this done before New Years after having my truck for so long.Additionally I thought it was peculiar that my engine oil was also overfilled after my truck was in your possession. I change my own oil, and I know it was spot on full before you had it. After you had my truck in your possession, my oil was overfilled by at least 2 quarts.Id give you zero stars, if that were an option.
Fix some wires that a rodant ate quick, and for a very good price. Thank you!
