Its slowly requiring more and more modernizations for a facility thats built on turnpike adjacent to a Russian Orthodox Church and parallel to a Starbucks on the intersection of Western and Fountain. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are only clean when the janitors are their. The residents are the friendliest, intelligent, and most eloquently spoken individuals of their time. They make everything accessible and easy for the staff that are usually relaxed at their posts. Permission is often required for every task requiring a staff member to menially assist with the duties such as unlocking a cabinet with hygiene products, clothing or bedding and are particularly self-conscious about themselves only.

I cant believe my case manager MsLon Usher is still working there. She was the best case manager I ever had, she was more like my mom away from mom. Strict but loving, by the book, but compassionate. She is what makes Covenant House, because thats their mission statement....to help. I will never forget the help I received from them, Ms Lon Usher especially.

Just wanna say that went by this tiny street and over a handful of youths were throwing around a football with no covid masks. Could tell the guy watching them couldnt care less. I used to work at the Way Inn on Hollywood Blvd, and I understand what it is like trying to come up with ideas or plans throughout the day to keep young people active. Dont know if its like an rcl 10 or 12. But hang in there and try to work on it.

I used to live in this place a few years ago when I was homeless. This place was terrible. Staff was either rude or unavailable. I noticed that some of my stuff went missing, and I always suspected it was roommate and staff did not see any reason to conduct an investigation. I was locked up in a room with no AC and constantly woke up with mosquito bites. Plus this took place in the Summer, and it was 100 degrees or more. I left 3 weeks later. Best choice I possible could have made.

Love the idea but get better staff. The front desk ladies were so rude and unhelpful when I came in to literally donate. Because of this i tried to cancel my monthly automatic payments in February (it is now September) and they have never responded to my emails and keep charging even after I’ve contacted them to stop. Not crying over spilt milk but it’s the principle that really bothers me. I hope this place gets better as it is a needed service but bad vibes all around. I’ve found I feel better about donating to more grateful charities.

Covenant House is by far the best shelter I have found for Transition Age Youth 18-24. From their Outreach team, on-site youth support staff to their management and executive directors, they facilitate a hospitable and supportive environment that fosters individual growth. People are treated as who they are or are capable of becoming, with complete dignity and respect. My favorite feature of Covenant House is that it feels like staff are family in a sense that they really care about each individual and are very organized in their day to day operations. Upper management has a very strong on-site presence to ensure operational success and ultimately, resident success! Thank you, Covenant House - California, for being a leading shelter, lifting individuals up from the streets and onto the pathway to future success.

Back in late 2000, I was directed to stay here from the guidance of an Army recruiter after being in a temporary homeless situation at the age of 18. This place provided me all the basic necessities including food, shelter, showers, clothes and many friendships as I awaited my enlistment documents and ship date to US Army Basic Training. 18 years later, Im still serving on active duty. Ive since earned a college degree and have a wife, two beautiful daughters, and countless other blessings. I am very grateful for the service this center and its employees provided to both myself and the thousands who have rotated through here. I also want to take this moment and praise Jesus that he used the recruiter to deliver me here in such a critical moment and has never left my side ever since! God is Great!

Amazing place with amazing mission. Thats all I can really say. They really care about their residents and actually have tons of success stories. Definitely a place where they help people get the skills necessary to lead a full life. Services are only for teens and very young adults (age 18 I believe).

These people were helpful to me when I needed it. I wasnt a resident of the Covenant House and they still let me use the computer/printer. I didnt give 5 stars because I havent experienced the room situation. The reason I decided not to move in was because you cannot bring a car. I didnt want to have absolutely nothing by selling my humble abode so I made other housing arrangements. Other than that, I would have moved in. The kindness in the short amount of time that I visited was very sweet and accepted.

I was there for a few weeks when I was out of money on my solo venture into the world a decade ago. People greeted me there, helped me get my self sorted, good food, assistance, and whatever else youd want to call it. People there are harsh though, it was dominated by black kids from the hood mentality, I was the only white guy and non of the people wanted to make be friends. Id like to hear more success stories from this place considering the number of teens thatd gone through it, I would hope to see more positive comments. My guess is that the people that go through there arent very grateful nor positive.

Although the cove may seem a good place, how the staff treat you is a different story. My name is Jasmine and I used to be there. I had a lot of mistakes and messed up and had chances but when it comes to chances they pick and choose. The males get more chances than the females. I recently got grabbed and the cove said a really nasty comment and laughed about it as an offense to me. There are the good staff then there are the fake ones. My friend got kicked out of there and for no reason. She is now suffering from domestic violence and they refuse to help.

I am a Covenant House Alumni and I had stayed there from late 2010 (age 19) to early 2012 (age 20). I am used to structured environments and that is exactly what The Cov is. During my time there, I gained access to many resources and opportunities; independent housing was one of them. They did help me get on my feet and become the successful woman I am today. Currently, I work with a nonprofit organization and am so eager to help people because The Covenant House made that possible for me. Thank you!

This is like a shelter for homeless people 18-24 years old, they are doing a great job but, like most other programs of a similar nature its too small and underfunded to meet the needs we have to deal with. As with PATH I did pass out some voter registration forms, the 18-24 age group really needs to get out the vote! The polling station is right across the Hollywood Freeway at the Helen Bernstein High School on election day. Also I would like to see this group of 18-24 residents encouraged to complete their Associates Degrees at the City College at the very least.

This place isnt as it said it is, I was homeless for 2 months and my friend referred me to this place in Hollywood. I went to to the outreach area, only to be seen by a rude front desk worker who told me that theres no more room for outreach clients. I asked him is there a time I should come back and he quickly told me no. This place is ass

Awesome place for young adults to grow into there future, I wont pass judgment but if you are serious about your well-being than this is the place for you, but if all you want to do is use drugs and kick it believe me you want last very long because it will catch up to you fast. This shelter works for young adults that want to better themselves.

Stayed here years ago, they favor LGBTQ and criminals, if you are actually trying to change your life they want you out. the big dude who runs the place is the most racist dude Ive ever met. if you are white dont even try to go here, they demand all of your information and if you dont give it to them they give up your bed. some of the dirtbags in here roughed up my brother and I, we were jacked multiple times. somehow we were the problem. CHC you are the absolute worst. I did better for myself sleeping in a tent on the side of the road. they actually stole some of my clothing and put it in the closetfor other people to take as they pleased. horrible upper management, horrible security guards. worst attitudes Ive ever seen. these people dont want to help you, they want to process you and take your info and get you out so they can pretend they helped another person so they recieve more funds for bonuses for the upper management.

Covenant House is a homeless shelter for youth between the ages of 18-20. This shelter provides same-day shelter for any youth seeking short-term to long-term stability in a productive enviroment. Youth who enter this program are not required to live here and may leave whenever they desire. The program has a transitional housing building where youth who have followed the shelter requirments may live in an apartment as they continue to attend school or work. Covenant house is not for youth who wish to walk in and out as they please but is a place for young spirits who wish to take their feet off the sidewalk.

If youre In desperate need then go here. If not, then find another place thats more secure. Youll be around people who are happy to be on food stamps or have some sort of drug problem. If you dont have a choice? Then use the program to find a better place. It took me a month to get out and I regret going there.

This place does not bring equality at all. Somebody who has a background and has done worse than I am, can store food here and do as they please throughout the times of the facility because there in a program called R.O.P,. If somebody is in Safe Haven(Crisis), They can not bring in anything even though they did not make their life miserable with the law. Crisis attendants cannot go and get dressed because if their is no staff on duty they can not. The tricky word is they say staff and their is always staff present but their innerbition to be lazy and not help, makes it that staff is not there. But somebody who is known for shooting or stabbing someone... can. This place has no equality at all and these people dont really want to help you. Everything they do at the Covenant House is something you can do on your own without having their help at all. Its only helpful for living and food at times but regardless they do not want to help anybody who is here because the higher officials look down on you. Every single staff believes that you have a record and that you are here because you broke many laws, but you have not, your just homeless. Parents abandoned you and just because your 18-24, they really dont want to even have you around. Most of the time, staff is on their phone, interacting with the world instead of the human beings that are here. This place brings no equality and your words truly mean nothing to them so i suggest dont come here if you feel the need to speak. Theyll just restrict you and then terminate you, just so you can re-do the process and come right back. Somebody here told staff Im going to start recording MY OWN conversations for MY OWN safety. He came back that night and was restricted from going to his room because he wanted to protect HIS OWN SAFETY. This place looks down on you to hurt you, not build you. Being in this facility will crush your spirits and once you leave, you will not be the same. That cover letter they put up is to make you believe they are really trying to help... in certain areas, yes, but the whole 100, no. Do not come here unless you ABSOLUTELY NEED TO. Other than that, be your own person. Because the Covenant House Staff really does not care if you succeed, just get out of their faces.
